InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Playground Love ❯ First Kiss ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A/N: Finally! I just finished another chapter in the Inu/Kag saga.
Big thanks again to my wonderful beta, Ender.
Just so you know, in this part of the fic, InuYasha, Miroku and Sango are 11 years old. Kagome is 10 and Souta is 3. Sesshomaru is 16 (even though I haven't mentioned him yet, but I will, probably in the next chapter or so.)
Also, Rin is not going to appear until later in the fic. [For those of you paying attention to dates and timelines, I changed the characters ages. It will just fit better with the story that I have in mind I think, so just bare with me on this, kay?]
Anyway, right now, I'm pretty pleased with how this chapter turned out. I am currently working on Chapter 3 and hopefully I will have that up by tomorrow.
As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated so if you do get a chance to, please review! You can leave a comment here on MediaMiner or email me at voodoobanshee@gmail.com
Chapter 1: First Kiss
InuYasha awoke that afternoon to a soft flicking of his ear. It wasn't that big a deal at first, but after the twentieth time it was definitely getting on his last nerves. His eyes still closed, he felt the flicking again, followed by a giggle.
Being the stubborn hanyou that he was, he wasn't about to budge until...
“Yash.”
There was a small pause before the voice spoke again.
“Yash.”
Another pause.
“Yash.”
And then another.
“Yash.”
...
“Yash.”
“Damn it! What!? What?! Can't you see I'm trying to sleep?”
Kagome laughed out loud and bounced on top of him taking his ears on her hands and tugging softly at them. It didn't really hurt, in fact it felt rather... nice, but he wasn't about to tell her that. If he did, she would rub them until they were red and until the cows came home and then some.
“Hey!! Hey! Stop that!” He growled, which made her laughed even more.
Having just about enough of what his ears could take, he quickly grabbed her wrists and switched their positions, pinning her down on the bed. His face the perfect picture of anger. Hers... the perfect picture of mischief and happiness.
“Sorry, you just wouldn't wake up. I had to do something.” She said between laughs and giggles.
“Is that right.” He said with a cocky grin, all anger having dissipated once he looked into those blue eyes.
“So how would you like it if I did this!” He began tickling her sides with an evil grin on his face. She laughed and twisted and laughed even more until her sides hurt.
“Okay! Okay! Stop. Yash, stop. I'm s- sorry. Stop! I'm gonna pee if you don't stop! Please!” Satisfied with her answer he pulled away from her and got up from the bed.
Kagome sat up on the bed and held her sides, still feeling the after effects of the mega tickling InuYasha had given her.
Finally she regained her composure and made a dash for the bathroom.
After wards, Kagome came out only to find Yash sprawled out on the bed sleeping once again, or at least, pretending to be asleep.
“Aww... Come on Yash! You promised.” She said with a pout.
“And it's almost five. We're gonna be late. Pleeeeeease!”
At that, InuYasha cracked one eye open to look in her direction. He had promised. He did remember, and if he didn't get up in the next two seconds, she was gonna be mad at him... again, for something stupid like this party she wanted to go to so badly.
Realizing this, he dragged himself out of bed and gave her the biggest scowl. To that she simply smiled and ran towards him giving him a big hug.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
He `Keh'd' softly, but smiled back at her, pulling away from her embrace. “Yeah, yeah... whatever.”
He changed out of his wrinkly clothes and put on his signature baggy jeans and red t-shirt, not really caring that Kagome was still in the room with him.
“Just remember Kags, you owe me big time.” And with that the two best friends left for the party.

“Come on InuYasha, it's your turn now.”
InuYasha gave a low growl and huffed crossing his arms over his chest. `Whose idea was it to play this stupid game anyway?' He thought annoyed.
Sango and Kagome giggled in the background and he narrowed his eyes at them. Yuka sighed and rolled her eyes, her face impatient as she waited for InuYasha to spin the bottle.
“Keh! Who thought of this stupid game anyway?!” He said in annoyance.
“Hey! This game is not stupid.” Eri said from across the circle.
That night, everyone had agreed to go over to Yuka's house for a party. Her family was out of town and the only supervision they would have was that of her older sister who had barely turned seventeen. Eri, Ayumi and Hojou had been the first to arrive. Followed by Ayame, Kouga, Ginta and Hakkaku.
Miroku, Sango, Kagome and InuYasha were the last to arrive.
It had been Yuka's idea to play the game, after all, everyone at school was raving about it. The boys had protested at first. But with a little explaining and a little bit of bribery in the form of junk food, ramen and video games, they had reluctantly agreed to play. (Some less reluctant than others.)
“Just spin the bottle already InuYasha and get it over with. It's not like it's that bad.” Miroku said anxiously. He was never gonna get a turn if InuYasha kept stalling.
InuYasha's ears twitched in annoyance as he gave Miroku a stare full of daggers. “Say's you!” `Is he crazy?'
“InuYasha Takahashi!! Spin that bottle right now!!” He jumped back bit and glared at Sango. `Why that little... Ugh! No self respecting eleven year old should be that eager to play!'
“Calm down, Sango. He'll spin the bottle and then you'll get your turn and you can kiss me. You know you wanna.” Miroku said with a big grin on his face. Sango turned two shades of red and grabbed the nearest object and flung it at him.
“Miroku! You pervert!!” She shouted flinging the shoe in his direction narrowly missing his face.
Miroku gulped and hid behind InuYasha to escape the girl's wrath.
Everyone else laughed at them.
Sighing almost in defeat, InuYasha made one last attempt to skip his turn, “...Is there any reason why I have to play? I never really agreed to play this stupid game in the first place!”
“Ya-huh you did!” Yuka replied in an angry voice. “I distinctly remember saying, `Ramen?' And you said, `Ok.' And I said. `You have to play though.' And you said, `Whatever.' So there! You agreed!”
“Uh...” Was his only reply.
“Come on dog breath. Stop wasting time. We ain't got all day to just sit here and watch you scratch your ass.” Kouga taunted.
InuYasha's was about ready to pounce on Kouga for what he had said when Kagome burst into a fit of giggles and tossed one of the smaller couch pillows at him, hitting him right in the head.
“Just spin the bottle Yash. Or else it'll be your turn forever and you'll never hear the end of it.”
“Fine.” He said with a pout.
Everyone watched intently as the bottle began to spin. Round and round it went. InuYasha blinked nervously at the empty cola bottle that held his fate.
A few seconds later the bottle began to slow down and everyone's excitement grew. After what seemed like an eternity for InuYasha, the bottle finally stopped, and it pointed at...
“K- Kagome?”
He couldn't move, couldn't form a thought. `How dare that stupid bottle point at Kagome?!' She was his best friend. He couldn't kiss her like that. Not for five seconds. Or three or two...and he wouldn't. Would he? They were... friends.
Kagome gave him a nervous glance. She had never been kissed before, hadn't even thought about it really... well, maybe she had thought about it once or twice, but kiss InuYasha? Did they really have to go through with it? She looked around the room, her face beet red with embarrassment.
`Hmpt! Why did I have to agree to play this stupid kissing game anyway?!' She thought nervously.
Miroku straight out laughed, while Sango gave her a small sympathetic smile. Hojou, who had a thing for Kagome, frowned and Kouga looked like he wanted to kill somebody.
Yuka and Eri watched the pair intensely with mischievous smiles plastered on their faces.
“InuYasha, are you gonna kiss Kagome or what? Rules are rules you know.” Eri said excitedly.
“Umm... I- ah...”
Kagome looked nervously in InuYasha's direction again and yelped when Yuka pushed her towards InuYasha.
“Come on, come on... Get it done and over with you two. It's not like you don't know each other. It's just a little kiss. It doesn't really mean anything.” Yuka said with impatience.
Gulping comically, InuYasha leaned forward. Kagome licked her lips anxiously at the sight of InuYasha leaning closer to her. Then her mind started working in the way that it always did, trying to rationalize everything. `Yuka is right; there's really no reason to get like this.' She thought. She had known InuYasha since she was like five. And this was just a simple kiss after all.
Nothing to it.
InuYasha was now face to face with Kagome, there was no backing out of this now. Slowly he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.
He sighed inwardly as he inhaled her sweet scent and almost shivered at the feel of her soft, slightly moist lips.
In the back ground Yuka and Eri began the count.
“One... Two...”
Kagome began to lose herself in the warmth that InuYasha's lips provided. Her mind was just a complete blank and for a moment everyone around the room disappeared. There was no one there but her and her best friend.
“Three... Four...”
Slowly, InuYasha ventured just a bit further, the kiss quickly becoming more than what he had originally intended for it to be. Something deep inside him stirred as if finally awaking from a long deep slumber by the taste that was Kagome for the very first time.
This was also his first kiss after all.
“Five!”
Everyone waited for another two full seconds before Kagome and InuYasha parted from their first kiss.
Kagome slowly opened her eyes, her cheeks and pouty lips held a tint of deep pink. She bit her lip lightly, and tried to avoid meeting InuYasha's gaze. He gave her a shy smile and quickly looked away, arms crossed in front of him just like always.
Everyone else rolled their eyes, and continued on with the game.
**************************************************
After the party, InuYasha walked Kagome home. Neither one of them talked, both too embarrassed about what had happened earlier.
Finally the silence between them broke.
“Yash?” She ventured.
“Hmm?”
She didn't know exactly what she was going to say, but she just couldn't stand the silence any longer. It was just too… uncomfortable. She didn't like that feeling. She didn't like feeling the tension between them.
“Umm... Thanks for... ahh... walking me home.” She said softly. `Thanks for walking me home? Since when do I thank Yash for walking me home? Ugh! That is like the dumbest thing to say. I'm such a wimp.' She repeated in her head, scolding herself mentally.
“Yeah, sure.” He said.
He too, wanted to say something, but what?
They had reached her door, and she nervously looked through her pack for her keys.
Finally, he found his resolve. “About the kiss,” he started.
“Hmm? What? Oh! That. Umm... what about it?,” she said nervously.
“It- It was just a kiss right? Didn't mean anything.” He said, his ears slightly drooping.
She nodded her head agreeing and smiled at him with reassurance. She didn't want him acting weird around her- and if she had admitted that she had maybe, sorta, kinda liked the kiss, things between them would be different. They'd be more tense.
She didn't want that.
“Good.” He said letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
Maybe in the back of his mind he was expecting a different answer, than just the simple acknowledgement that the kiss had just been that; a kiss and nothing more. Somewhere inside he felt bad, and awkward. He didn't like that. He didn't want to feel like that around her. This was his friend The one person he shared everything with. The one person he told everything to. He didn't want that to change... He wasn't going to let things change no matter what.
It was better that way.
She leaned in for a quick hug and was about to say goodbye to him when the door to her home flung open. Startled she looked up to see her mother, holding a big pack and a sleepy Souta in her arms.
“Momma?” She questioned.
Her mother didn't respond. It was as if though her mind wasn't really there. “Momma? What's wrong?”
She had never seen her mother this upset before, in fact, noticing the tears that were beginning to form in her eyes she realized that she had never seen her mother cry at all.
“Momma?”
Finally her mother was able to focus on her, as if suddenly awakened from a nightmare.
“Kagome,” her mother responded trying to hold back a sob.
“It's your father sweetie... There's been an- an accident, and he- he's,” she couldn't finish the sentence. There really was no easy way of telling her.
But Kagome knew something was terribly wrong. She was old enough to understand the severity of the situation and before she knew it, Kagome was sobbing, tears flowing freely from her eyes while InuYasha held her protectively in his arms.
