The sun rose in the Western Lands, and found the Lord in his office in deep thought. It had happened often lately, and the maids and servants grew worried for their master. They could feel the battle going on inside him; they had known him to long to be completely deceived by his attitudes. One servant in particular grew more worried with each passing day... His name is Aniko. He is a fire dog demon; the oldest know n to be exist ed ...His ruby/amber eyes showing the wisdom that comes with his long age. He is also the Lord's main advisor. . .at least that is what his title says. In truth Sesshoumaru has never asked his advice on anything, although the previous Lord, Sesshoumaru's father often did.

But Aniko had learned that Sesshoumaru had taken after his mother. A fact most hated. Aniko walked to the Lord's chambers which now held the person he knew to cause all the problems for his Lord. The Lady Zoë , had captured the Lord's Heart. The problem was...The Lord seldom listened to his heart, c ausing him a lot of problems with himself. Aniko walked into the room, finding the Lady still asleep, he walked silently to her bedside and waited for her to awaken.

Buried under the darkness, Zoë fought with a struggle against her nightmare that dared to intrude her pacified dream. She moved her head from left to right; a slight grimace entered her face, with her left fang revealed in a snarl. Both of her hands clutched lightly against onto one of the pillow she had her arms rested on and slowly they were stained with fresh blood.

She was running away from her nightmare, that's for sure, although she fought along the way. The eyes were watching her and she shivered from the sight of it. What were they? She had no idea, but she knew she had to get out of this place or it's going to get worse. In a sudden act, she finally opened her eyes, although they were pure red, a near chance of changing, but she remained in her self-control, thankfully.

Just as she had awakened, she turned her head to find another in the lord's chamber and it only took her a while to realize she was in someone else's room. At the thought of it caused her cheeks to turn red, but then, it was no use. She doesn't think she'll be able to be in her room at any time, not the condition she was in. She watched the male who sat down at the edge of the bed she was in with curiosity, and yet with confusion.

Who are you?She spoke in a low voice, for she knew, that her voice hasn't healed fully, although it was a beginning of a progress to heal.

Aniko had watched has the Lady woke out of what appeared to be a nightmare... He gave a soft smiled after she asked him who he was.

" My name is Aniko, Lady Zoë . I used to be Lord InuTaishio's Advisor. Now I just hang around the castle, since Lord Sesshoumaru does not ask for my services.......That is why I am here, Lady. Everyone here knows how you feel for Lord Sesshoumaru.

But it will not be easy for you... Lord Sesshoumaru has had many traumas in his life. That has all made him turn off his feelings in way. His way of thinking his unique...And the only way you are going to be able to work wit him...Is to figure out that way of thinking. " Aniko said in a wise and ancient voice, that held wisdom and also the deep fatherly-like love he held for his Lord, after all he had been there when Sesshoumaru was born. He had shared in Inu-Taishio's pride.

" He may do things that his demon makes him do... and that he can't fight at that moment...Those things will make you think that you are getting somewhere... But when he has had time to think and control himself...He will regret doing most things th at seem like a weak act to him." He said breathing a sigh.

" I am telling you this, Lady, b ecause I know Lord Sesshoumaru. He would rather spend the rest of hi s life alone, t han show feelings He considers that a great weakness. The memories of his father's death, replay in his mind...But somehow I know you will change all that. I hope that if you require advice on dealing with our stubborn Lord, you will ask me..." He finished with another sigh in his ancient voice.

Resting among the pool of soft pillows, Zoë cocked her head side-way, curiosity grew deep within her now indigo eyes, which are no longer pure blood-shot color. At first when she saw him, she didn't sensed any danger, although she would tell by the look of the demon before her, was in some way gentle and kind, not to mention with an act of grandfatherly.

She hasn't expected anyone to come up to her and say it right in front of her face, when she was still trying to figure out the situation she and the lord was in. Now that he's here and introduced himself, she felt relief, and glad to know that there's someone she can actually come to whenever there's trouble. And she knows it, by heart and from what she saw.

When she first listened to him, she blinked in a slight confusion to his way of philological speak, although she could get the idea and not entirely comprehend it. Instead of showing confusion, she pushed aside her confusing thoughts and offered him a gentle smile, Thank you for telling me. Now that I know, I will come to you when I need help.

She blinked once more when she realized what he had just said, you're saying that he has feelings for me? For sure? She spoke, with a slight trace of hope emerged along with her words.

Aniko's smile turned into a half grin when he heard the Lady's question. " He has feelings for you my Lady. That is not in question by any here in the castle. If it where up to his instincts you would be mated and pupping by now. But Lord Sesshoumaru is fighting it. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is why...I know it has something to do with all the tragedy he has passed...But aside from that I can not say. "

He said looking at the Lady's face that gleamed with joy and hope. At that moment Aniko knew this Lady would finish what little Rin had started, She would open his Lord's heart and fill it with joy again. He only hoped Sesshoumaru would let her.

Zoe narrowed her eyes in question, although she felt a ping of pain stirred deep within her, a feeling she could not describe nor could she understand why it just suddenly appeared. Tragedy ..?Suddenly she felt pity, although she knew the lord wouldn't accept any pity, but sometime pity can help one another to heal and to be comforted.
Would you know what happened to him? Or he's the only one who can tell me..?A frown entered her face, with a deep concerns welded to life in her eyes.

Aniko eyed her, and scowled a little as he remember his previous Lord's tragedy.

" I can tell you...I have lived and worked in this castle since my birth. The Lord I worked with the most was Inu-Taishio. Sesshoumaru's father. " He paused for a second, breathing through the memories. " Inu-Taishio was very powerful Dog Demon, in fact he was and still is the most powerful demon around. Although his sons I think will reach his level one day. But for all his power, he was also a very loving, truthful, and a caring man. And a very good Lord. Everyone loved him here. But his enemies hated and envied him for his power. He mated a dog demoness named was Hanako. She was very beautiful, and to those she found worthy and she cared for, she was very loving. To the rest she was almost cruel. She tried many times to give her mate a pup. But as it happens often in Dog demons, the pups did not make it to birth alive. Until Sesshoumaru was born. From the minute we saw him open his amber eyes, we knew he was going to be as powerful as his father. The joy was huge in our Lord. He took to fathering the pup instantly. They where happy together. But when Sesshoumaru was 7 years old. His mother died while trying to give birth. Inu-Taishio went mad with grief, and the only thing that brought him back was his son..........." He finished taking another pause and breathing another sigh.

" After the death of his mother Sesshoumaru retracted into himself, showing only his feelings to only the ones he trusted the most. After a long while Inu-Taishio fell in love again. This time with a human princess. Her name was Izayoi... She was completely different from the last Lady. She was kind, gentle, and loving to everyone. But....back then it was unheard off for a Demon Lord to mate with a Human...Most demons and humans alike found it shameful. Inu-Taishio however cared little for what others thought and followed his instincts... He mated her...But while she was pregnate with the Lord's pup. . .she was kidnaped...The Lord went to rescue her...Of course he knew it was a trap. But did not care. Lady Izayoi and the pup she had while being captured were rescued, But he did not make back alive. Sesshoumaru was 15 at the time, he had gone part of the way with his father, but he never liked the humans, and never agreed with his father's choice of mate, and he did not have any problems telling that to his father; for Sesshoumaru has always been very blunt with his choice of words. When he came back to the castle he was wounded, we knew he had another fight with his father. When he heard of his father's death, and of the birth of his half-brother Inuyasha, he finished retreating into himself, showing only the cold and stoic attitudes we see today. The only feelings he shows are the dark ones. At his father's death he took over the throne of the Western Lands, his father's enemies and the other Lords immediately tried to take it from him. But he never backed down, he showed the power that was in his blood. He killed most of them, not caring for their life at all. Since then he has killed any who stand in his way...and any who dare speak back to him. That is why we know he cares for you. . .You are still alive..." He finished taking another breath, and looking at Zoë to see her reaction.

Zoë had remained in her place, her eyes grew wider each minutes that passed by while she listened to the story Aniko had told her of. It was unexpected, but for some reason, she could understand how it feels to lose one another, especially to those she loves the most. She now understood why the lord had never showed his feelings to anyone except to those he found trustworthy. With a sigh, she whispered once more, Thank you so much, Aniko. This means a lot, there is at least something I can relate, because I was also in the same situation, except for the whole mating thingwhat I mean is
She closed her eyes as she forced herself to say it, something she had denied all those times since her arrival, I know how it feels to lose one another. I lost mine, everyone I knew in my life. Even my homeShe forged a smile with some efforts just as she opened her eyes to glance at Aniko. It was kind of you to tell me.

She averted her eyes from him and took a glance at herself, and realized that she hasn't moved a muscle since her sleep. She decided to try and sit up for she never did like to feel weak. She slowly moved her arms just as the strike of pain swarmed throughout her body, her eyes grew bigger in shock, although she remained determined. She continued to move until she was satisfied, although she was panting, sweats watered their way down her face. With her eyes shut, she grimaced subtly, tried to remain void of her pain that had continued to struck her since she had moved, not little, but more likely, too much.

Aniko watched her as she tried to move. He did not move to help her, training and wisdom had taught him not to do that. To let them do it on their own, and make them feel powerful. When she was done in her movement, he handed her some cloth so that she could clean herself.

" You should not move that much, you are still healing. Although your wounds have already sealed, you should be happy that. Do you need anythin g else before I leave, My Lady? " He asked his voice going back to the wise and loving tone.

With a slow movement, she took the cloth and wiped the sweats from herself while she struggled to regain conscious over her tremendous pains that drove throughout her body. She looked up when she spoke, her left eyebrow arched lightly, I hope it wouldn't be that much trouble, but could you take me to the garden? She had said nothing of her moving about, and she knew she'll always get comments for that, and so, she decided to let it go.

Aniko raised an eyebrow at her, but he did laugh. " As long as you promise, not to move. Then yes. It will be no pro blem to take you to the garden. " He said laughter in his voice, as he eyed her.

Her lips curled into a pout when she realized that she would never get out of the room unless she promise. When she promises something, she cannot break it, unless the situation indulges in life and death. With a shrug of her shoulders, she surrendered. "Alright, alright. I promise, but that doesn't mean I won't be moving my arms around. Hmpth! "

Aniko laughed more at Zoë's words. " Yes. . .You will definitely be able to handle our Lord." He said laughing more and moving to pick her up. Even with all his age, picking her up was no problem for him. He moved though the halls of the castle, reaching the garden in a matter of minutes. He picked the most beautiful place in the garden, under a willow tree, next to a slow moving brook, and plenty of sweet smelling flowers. Before he placed her down, he had another maid place a blanket on the grass, after that was done, he placed her on the blanket, placing pillows all around her, not allowing her much movement, a nd offering her body lots of support.

" There... The children are playing around somewhere here. You may see them soon. Our Lord is in his personal study, he is not in a very good mood today. But I expected that already. You c an see him through the window. " He finished talking as he placed the last pillow around her, and bowed at her, giving her a soft smile.

Now sitting among the garden, a beautiful spot to which Aniko had picked out for her, she squealed in delight when she felt the soft breeze passed by. Being outside, and not cooped up inside a room nearly made her taste freedom. She looked up when Aniko bowed and she nodded her head, returning the smile. Yesthank you, Aniko.

She turned her face side-way when she caught something that had most pleased her, the white roses. She didn't know that they had white roses here, but she was glad to see it. white roses. She still remembered how much she loved those white roses, especially when her father had given her plenty of white roses on every single birthday and never even missed once. The white roses were her favorite, and despite her race as being the dark kind, it somewhat soothed her to think that she believe death is the same as life, although the opposite. There is no good or bad in the means of those two at all.

With one hand raised, a white rose is plucked from its place and glided through the air into her hand so that she can smell it, her nose so pressed closely, yet gently to the petals of rose. She could hear the laughter, although they weren't completely filled with joy, and she knew that the children were frightened when they heard the news of her dire condition, but alas, she's fine right now. She decided not to call for them, for she needed time with herself until her eyes roamed toward the window, in which Aniko had told her of, the lord's personal study room.

She began to wonder what he was doing at the very moment.

Through the whole morning Sesshoumaru had stayed in his study. He had growled at everyone who had come in. In all he was not a happy demon. He hated his instincts right now. Although last night had been very enjoyable, he admitted that to only himself. He sat in his chair for a while, then stood to look out the window. He stood there in front of the window, just looking out into nothing. His mind trapped in a loop, replaying all that had happened last night. He had shown emotion...not only to Zoë , but also to her attacker. That he had realized today, was not good.

He knew that could be used against him later. He did not plan to die like his father...he would be stronger than that...He would control his feelings and his inner demon. He would be as strong as his mother.

While he though, his eyes glowed red, his inner demon fighting his the entire time. His instincts told him to be with Zoë , to stay by her side while she was injured. But he did not listen to it. He stayed by the window. Stiff as a board, he growls so ftly coming out of his throat with both e yes glowing red.

She had noticed him by the window, with her keen eyesight; she was able to make out the red eyes and realized he was going through it once again. She averted her eyes from the window, which she now watched the soft grasses waved by the breeze. She knew she had already admitted to herself about something that could take risks; she had admitted that she was falling for him and there was nothing she could do about it. However, she only hoped that the lord could do the same thing.

Now that she had seen him, she knew it would be a difficult task to get him to actually admit. Pain struck her once again, but not physically this time, more of emotionally. She lowered her flower to her lap, and she decided to exercise her voice, by singing, a hobby she had loved.

She leaned against the pillows, and began to recite the lyric she remembered.

Can withstand a storm
In the final hour
We'll find the joy in living
Don't let go
'Cause I know
Pretty soon you will see
Right in front of you
Right in front of me
We were looking
But somehow, some way
We couldn't see
That the love was always there
It's been around us everywhere
I had to fall to finally see
That you were right in front of me

She continued to sang the song, her voice grew stronger, with tinge of tears strolled down her cheeks and she knew that she was putting her feeling into the song along the way.

Sesshoumaru got his demon under control, and was snapped out of his thoughts by a sweet voice. He looked down to the garden, to see Zoë was the one doing the singing. He stood there like a statue listening to the song...He knew somehow that it was meant for him and her. When the song was done he moved from the window and walked calmly down the halls to the garden.

He walked regally to her, his hair flowing behind him, making him look beautiful as always. He stood in front of her, his eyes now amber, showing he was in total control. " What was th at song? You sounded sad in it? " He asked confused to all her emotion.

Zoe was somewhat sleeping after she finished her song and her body jumped when she heard a voice. Such jump as that, struck another physical pain throughout her body and she grimaced scowling. It was then when she realized who was there.

Ohit was a song written by my favorite singer. He was the one who inspired me to start my singing lesson and it turns out that I'm very good at it. He's so good at words, and the way he sung them.

She looked down as she lowered her voice, for they were hurting once more, I was sad because of the situation I'm in right now. She now wasn't sure if she should tell him the specific reason why she sounded sad when she was singing , but at least, she let out a hint and hoped that it would satisfy his curiosity. Did you like it?

Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her last words.
~ Situation??? She had told him she loved him? Was he causing her this pain? ~

He thought..At the thougth his demon reared inside him, not liking that at all. He did not want anything hurting her. But Sesshoumaru knew it could not be helped.
" It was enjoyable. " He said with no emotion in his voice. " Am I the cause of your current pain? " HE asked still with no emotion in his voice. Deep inside he knew he was...and his demon hated him for that. But Sesshoumaru was determined to win, and not let his instincts control him.

She raised her eyebrow once again, and she cocked her head side-way, Current pain? What do you mean by that? She spoke in a low voice while she gently held the white rose in her hand, fiddling with it.

She instantly knew that he was getting hints, but she only hoped that she would not be rejected. If it ever happens, she would not know what to do next. In fact, she hoped that it would never happen.

Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her and scowled a little. " You are in emotional pain. I also know that you have feelings for me...So I ask you if my acti ons are the cause of your pain. "

Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at her and scowled a little. " You are in emotional pain. I also know that you have feelings for me...So I ask you if my actions are the cause of your pain? " He asked not realising how egotistical it sounded. That had not been his intention, he was truly confussed, he had perfected controlling his emotions, so when it came time to understanding other's emotions, He always got confussed. Thought he wouldn't show it of course.

Zoe wiggled her nose, somewhat cutely just as he scowled, What if I said yes? She knew she was taking the risk but she had to go for it. Either she goes for it or she lose it. She hasn't taken the sense of how he had said it, if she had, she would've ignored it and let it pass by, unless it really irks her nerves.

Sesshoumaru looked at her not knowing what to say. He stood there looking at her. His demon hating him more and more each time he looked at her, his every instict told him to go to her and tell her how he felt, to stop her pain. But he did not obey. "If your answer was yes...I would tell you to try and stop your feelings for me...It will only cause you more pain."

He said looking down at her, his demon now sending waves of pain throught out his body. His demon energy making him growl at himself...

He tried desperatly to control his demon, but it did not work. His body moved on it's own, moving closer to her, his eyes moving only to her soft lips. Suddenly his demon moved faster, his lips practically attacking hers, ina heated, pation filled kiss.

Zoe's eyes grew wide when she noticed that he had advanced closer toward her and got on his knees. Both of her cheeks turned when his eyes were on her moistured lips. When she felt his lips on hers, she ignored her own pains and wrapped her arms around his neck, only to pull him closer. She at first, parted from his, only to lick his lips, almost seductively. She had wondered when it would happen and how it would feel, until now. Fire were already stirring deep down inside, something she had never felt before, it nearly scared her senseless, although she was allured along the way.

Sesshoumaru leaned more into the kiss, after she started responding to it. His demon enjoying the way she felt in his embrace. The kiss lasted for a couple of minutes, until they needed to part to breathe. After that he finally got his demon under control, he flew out of her hands, in rage with himself. "You will not do this to me. I will not fall like my father. I will not be weak. Emotions are a mistake, I will not be hurt again." He said red in his eyes, as he stood a few feet away from her.

"If I allow this....If I allow my demon to win... I would be happy...But eventually you will leave me...You will tire of me and leave...Everyone leaves me........." He said not even knowing why he had said it...He knew it was his demon, but again he could not stop himself. He moved again, turning away from her, wanting to get out of her presence, but his legs not moving. It was amasing to him..He, the great and powerfull 'Sesshoumaru' who could fight and win against anyone and anything, loosing to his own demon instincts. His mask of perfect control fell, and for the first time in years a rogue tear rolled down his cheek. Sesshoumaru quickly used all his strength to control himself. As he slowly walked away from her. His demon not allowing him much speed.

Just as he turned around, Zoë scrambled herself to the floor, although her movements were silent and ignored the fresh new blood staining her cloths as she crawled her way toward him. She was in shock, but hurt when he had abruptly yanked himself away from her. She couldn't say a word when he first spoken after their first ignited kiss, until now.

Please, please, do and try not to walk away from me She had managed to throw her arms around one of his leg and clung onto him, with a chance of not letting him go, although she was terribly weak in her condition, and he could so easily just yank his leg out of her grasp. At least, she hoped he wouldn't do that.

When she looked up, she noticed something that was so rare to see in him, the expression on his face. At such sight brought her to tears, which had mixed in with her yearnings and pain. I won'tdo that, I am not like others who would just leave someone like that Her body involuntarily convulsed, although she tired her hardest to not fall into her intensified pain with a taste of darkness hitting on her.

Sesshoumaru felt the tug at his pant leg. He looked down as he heard her words. He smelled the scent of blood on her, and instantly regretted his action, remembering her wounds. "You will not mean too...But everyone does...the ones that don't die...End up hating me... I don't want that..." He said in a low voice...picking her up, holding her upper body with his one arm, and the rest of her with his tail with the mask of perfection back on his face.

Zoe whimpered when he picked her up, yet it was not out of physical pain, but more likely emotional pain. As soon as she was picked up, both of her hands were already clung to his attire, with her head limp against his shoulder while her body continued to convulsed on its own. That's because they do not understand.

Sesshoumaru looked down at her, and raised his eyebrow "And I am supposed to trust that you do?" He asked not wanting to sound as evil and old as he did. He had grown such a huge wall around himself, which he did not like anyone breaking through it, and he hated that so far two females had done that.

A shot of pain conveyed in her eyes when she heard what he had just said. Her head moved downward as to not look at him, didn't really wanted him to see her already pained just as she was about to say something, I She had barely said it, just as the darkness took over her. Her body went limp in his hold.
