A/N: I don't own Inuyasha...but I will!!! (runs away with crowbar)
Kagome lay curled around her pillow thinking of the day that had just passed, her tail flicking nervously.
"Hey," she heard Inuyasha whisper behind her. She rolled over and sat up at the edge of her bed.
"Yeah?" she said softly. Her face light up at the sight of his as he entered her room.
"Would you like to go out for dinner?" he asked, his ear twitched slightly.
Kagome jumped to her feet. "You mean like a date?"
"Yeah...like a date." He looked around the room nervously. Kagome squealed. Only a second later, Inuyasha was behind her, covering her mouth with his hand. "Please don't do that." He released her and walked out of the room.
"Sorry," Kagome whispered, but he was gone. Her ears drooped sadly for a moment then jumped back up. 'We're going on a date!' was all she could think about as she ran to her closet and looked through her cloths.
What're you doing? A small kitten said as it walked out of it's hidding place in the large pile of stuffed animals. Going somewhere?
Yeah. I'm going on a date with Inuyasha! Kagome mewed, trying not to explode with joy.
A date? The kitten cocked it's head to the side. What's that?
Twenty minutes later...
Kagome walked slowly down the long staircase and into the front room of the large mansion where she found Inuyasha waiting next to the door. He took one look at her and had to hold onto the wall so that he wouldn't fall over. Instead of her normal blue jeans and black shorts, she was now wearing a long black dress that nearly reached the floor. On her hands were long black gloves that covered her forearms completely.
"Wow..." his mouth fell open.
"It was a present from my aunt before she died. She said I should wear it on my first date," she said, turning red under his stare. "So where are we going?"
"McDonalds." He smiled as he led her out to the car.
"Really?! I haven't been there in a long time!" she said excitedly as she watched one of the limosines pull up. "But, aren't we a little over dressed?"
Inuyasha chuckled softly. "It was a joke, kitten. Don't worry about it."
"That was mean!" she pouted as she sat down on one of the leather seats. He just smiled and sat down next to her. She leaned against his shoulder and instinctively began to pur. He wrapped his arm around her casually and looked out the window as the different stores and buildings flew past.
About twenty minutes later, Inuyasha tapped her shoulder to wake her up as the limo pulled up to a mansion, similar in size to Inuyasha's.
Inuyasha opened the door and walked out of the limosine to be followed closely by a slightly frightened Kagome. As soon as they were out of the car, he turned to her. "This is the house of one of my father's old friends he has invited a few people over for a small get together. Watch out some of the people here are a little strange. Stay close to me and if anyone does anything strange, tell me." He began to walk toward the front door. "Oh and by the way, Kikyo's going to be here so play nice." He knocked on the door. Kagome walked toward him quickly and hooked her arm around his before the door could open.
"Hello," a young man in a tux said as he opened the door.
"Hi, I'm Inuyasha. I was invited." He flashed his ID and replaced it in his pocket. The man opened the door and let Inuyasha into the house.
Kagome looked around but stayed silent as she followed Inuyasha to a large dining room.
"Inuyasha. It's nice to see you again." A man sitting at the table said, smiling. He was an old wolf demon with grey hair. Inuyasha smiled and nodded to the man.
"Hey Yash. I see you've got yourself a girlfriend." A younger wolf said from his place next to the older. Kagome blushed.
"Kouga," Inuyasha greeted, trying to keep his annoyance hidden.
"Please, have a seat." The older man motioned for the two chairs next to him.
Inuyasha nodded and Kagome followed him to the chairs where both sat down.
"Elder Wolf, Kouga," Inuyasha looked from the wolves to Kagome. "This is Kagome, she has agreed to acompany me." Kagome looked at him suspiciously, but decided he knew what he was doing.
"So she's not your mate?" The younger wolf asked, his eyes showing a bit of interest.
"No," Kagome could hear a small growl in his voice. His eyes seemed to say 'She's mine and you can't have her!'
"I see the table is set for five," Kagome said, trying to calm the atmosphere. "Is someone else coming?"
"Yes." The older wolf looked around the room as if looking for something. Suddenly, Kagome felt a chill move down her spine and she looked to Inuyasha who shook his head. "And there he is now," the wolf watcthed as the doorbell rang and the door opened on its own to reveal a tall thin man and his two servents. "Kouga, Inuyasha, Kagome, this is Naraku. He has been working with me for a while."
"We've met." Inuyasha growled as he watched the man sit down in the empty seat.
After an hour or so of talking and eating, Inuyasha stood up. "Kagome, we'd better leave."
"But-" Kagome looked up at the clock on the wall.
"Let's go!" he growled. She immediately stood up and followed him to the door.
"Inuyasha. Leaving so soon?" The older wolf said looking up from his plate.
"Sorry. I've got to run. Maybe some other time." He pulled the door open and walked out.
"Seeya Kagome!" the young wolf yelled as the door closed behind her.
An hour later...
"What happened back there?" Kagome asked, walking into Inuyasha's room, now wearing her pajamas.
"It wasn't safe," he explained, rubbing his forehead.
"What do you mean, 'not safe'?" She sat down next to him on the bed.
"I mean Naraku. He's dangerous."
"He seemed nice to me."
Inuyasha smiled at her. "You must not be able to smell it yet."
"Smell what?" She looked at him, confused.
"He was going to kill one of us at that table," Inuyasha said, opening one of his drawers. "I don't know why yet but I'm going to find out." He opened a small case and pulled out a mag clip, quicly filling it with bullets, then loading it into a small pistol. "Here." He handed the gun to Kagome.
She looked at it with both confusion and fear in her eyes. "What do I need this for?"
"To protect yourself until you learn how to use your powers completely." He closed the drawer again. "I won't always be there for you." He stood up and walked to the window.
"Inuyasha?" she just stared at him. Her nose twitched then she stood up. "You're afraid," she said, walking toward him slowly. "Of what?" She put her hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry I got you mixed up with him. I didn't know he was going to be there. If I had, I never would have gone." Kagome looked into his eyes.
"It's okey. It'll all be okey. Just tell me what's bothering you," she said softly, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him to her.
"Naraku's a sick bastard. Don't worry about it. I'll protect you. Now, go to bed. There's school tomorrow and I don't want you falling asleep in class.
Kagome nodded and began to walk to the door before turning back to him. "I-inuyasha?"
The hanyou turned around. "Yeah?"
"C-can I..." She blushed and looked away nervously. "C-could I sleep with you tonight?"
"Sleep with me?" the hanyou repeated.
She hugged the small stuffed bear in her hands close to her chest and nodded. "I-i mean. I'm scared. I don't want to be alone."
"Hm..."
"Please?" She looked up at him hopefully.
"Fine."
A few minutes later, Inuyasha laid down on the bed next to Kagome. She snuggled into him and purred softly, "'night kitten," he whispered before falling asleep himself...
