A woman named Kagura walked into a dark room. She was holding a cup of water and a small plate that held a pill.

“Mistress, Mistress Kikyo, I am here with your medicine,” she said.

“Put them on the table,” Kikyo ordered.

“But you know what your doctor said, I have to be here to see you take them,” Kagura responded.

Kagura heard a low hiss and before her eyes stood Kikyo. Her face looked deathly white and her hair was frizzy and big. Her nightgown was wrinkled and Kagura could smell that it hasn't been washed for days. Kagura sighed; her closest friend hasn't been well since her mother died. She was the only one that Kikyo had.

Kagura led her friend towards the bed. She grabbed the pill and put it in Kikyo's mouth. Then, she directed her to tell her to drink the water and Kikyo did so.

Kagura stood up and left. She closed the door quietly and walked towards her room. She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She doesn't mind looking after Kikyo, but she wished that her, Kikyo, stepfather didn't banish her mother to this country.

Back in Kikyo's room, Kikyo walked to her golden chest. She lifted the lid and saw all of her potions and drugs. Kikyo chuckled.

“The day will soon when my son will be the next High King of all Japan. But only if Shippo will follow the directions I gave him,” Kikyo told herself. She grabbed three potions and went to the room that was connected to her bedroom.

Everywhere in her room was full of lighted candles. To the far left was a table of a small cauldron. She walked to it and poured the potions into it. She took an enlarged wooden spoon and stirred it.

“With this potion I am making, I can turn myself into a raven anytime. I can go to Japan anytime and see how the progress is doing,” she told herself.

Once there was an explosion, it meant that it was done. She lifted the spoon and sipped it. She felt a small burning sensation coursing through her body. She knew that it was working.

Kikyo walked back into her room and opened the French doors. The outside air was cool and crisp. She always loved autumn. Kikyo closed her eyes and she turned into a raven. She flew to Japan, to see how the progress was going.
~~~
Hojo and Shippo were walking around the grounds in awkward silence.
`What should I say to him?' Hojo asked himself. He placed his hands behind his back and was still thinking about what to say.
“So, Shippo, uh, do you like to ride horses?” Hojo asked.
Shippo looked up at him and replied, “Yes, I do father.”
Hojo smiled widely and led him to the stables. While they were walking, Shippo saw a large black bird fly by. The little boy knew that it was his mother, checking up on things.
`How is everything?' Kikyo asked in telepathy.
`Everything is fine mother, don't worry about it,' Shippo responded.
`Don't tell me that everything is all right, I call the deal,' Kikyo hissed.
Shippo sighed and Hojo looked at him. “Are you OK?”
Shippo grinned. “Everything is all right father.”
They arrived at the stables and Hojo asked the stable boys to prepare their horses. One grabbed the white horse and the other grabbed a black horse.
They went on their horses and started to canter across the ground. Hojo grinned and laughed and Shippo was faking the same thing. He would do anything to think that he is enjoying anything that they are doing. In other words, let him think that he is on his side, that he won't betray him.
`Boy,' thought Shippo, `Won't he be in a surprise soon.'
