Hojo was gone, gone from earth. The whole country mourned for him. They had no High King since Hojo did declare Shippo as heir and deleted InuYasha as a successor for the throne. Also, it was found out that Kikyo was shot down while she was in her raven form.
Kagome stepped down. She did not want anything more with anything with politics and people complaining who stole whose livestock. All she wanted was to be alone and in peace. So, she chose to live out in the country. Kagome did bring some of the servants and other things from the castle.
Only a few people that still remain in the castle, who awaits the next person to inhabit in the castle, knew where their lady was residing. They only told to whomever they can trust. They were afraid that if they told the wrong person, that person would go to the cottage and assassinate Kagome. But, in fact, the servants were waiting for InuYasha. The servants already knew about the Kagome and InuYasha fling for a long, long time. Walls have ears.
It was six months since Hojo was gone. In the first two months, Kagome heard that her cousin died in a miscarriage. She lost so much blood, that she died. Kagome felt no remorse.
Then, Kagome realized soon after that her stomach was getting bigger and bigger. One of the eldest servants told her that she could be pregnant and then called a doctor. The doctor came and examined her. He told her that she was indeed pregnant.
“How could I be pregnant when I never started my cycle?” she asked the doctor.
“Well, females start at any time. I suppose you started late. Maybe you started just when you had sex,” he told her. He bowed and left.
Kagome was pondering who the father could be. Hojo or InuYasha? She had to know! She slammed a fist onto a table. Only one person came to mind.
She walked over to a desk and took out a piece of paper and an ink pen. She started writing quickly. Then, she took out an envelope, folded the paper, and stuck it inside. Kagome grabbed a piece of wax and firmly pressed it on top of the flap.
The woman called a boy servant. He came and she told him where to go and whom he should meet. The boy bowed and left immediately.
Kagome sighed and leaned back in her chair. It would be a miracle if he could find him.

The boy rode his horse fast and hard. He had to get there before Miroku was gone.
Kagome told the boy to go to the lake that was near the castle. Miroku used to go there everyday at three o'clock for a half an hour to meditate. Right now, it was three-twenty. He left the cottage just an hour ago. He hoped he'd make it in time.
It was just three minutes left when he arrived. The boy saw the wizard sitting, looking out onto the lake.
“I know you're there. No need to be frightened of me, I won't harm you,” Miroku said, never leaving his gaze.
The boy started walking over to him. He bowed and gave him the letter. Miroku took it and broke the seal. He took the letter out and unfolded it. He started to read:
“To Miroku, I am pregnant. I just found out today, but I need your help. I was hoping you could come to my cottage and tell me whom the father is. I know that it's either Hojo or InuYasha. I would be most pleased if you do decide to come. My servant, Lei, would show you the way. Thank you, Queen Kagome.”
Miroku left his gaze and looked at Lei. “You can leave and go back to Queen Kagome. I already know where she has been residing. I'll meet you there.”
Then he disappeared and Lei looked at where he once was.
~~~
Miroku appeared next to Kagome. She jumped in her seat, just realizing that he was there.
“Good day Miroku. I guess you are here to see who my baby's father is? Also, I guess you need not to follow my servant?” said Kagome.
The wizard smiled and turned so he was in front of her. He knelt and placed a hand on her stomach. He closed his eyes and concentrated, channeling his powers directly to the baby that was growing inside this woman's belly. Just a few moments later, he opened them. The queen gave him a quizzical look.
“Well, it appears that InuYasha is the father. I also found that that you will have a son,” he announced.
Kagome's eyes glazed over with unshed, happy tears. She's going to be the mother of InuYasha's son.
“Thank you,” she muttered,” Let me, let me write to InuYasha and tell him the news.”
Miroku nodded and vanished, yet again. Kagome stood up and walked to the desk and pulled out the necessities to write the letter.
She wrote:
“To my beloved InuYasha. I am six months pregnant with your son. Yes, your son. I am honored to carry your child. I hope once you receive this letter, you would come straightaway to come to your offspring and me. I love you InuYasha, please come to me. Love, Kagome”
Kagome smiled. She folded the paper and putted it in the envelope. She sealed it and wrote InuYasha's name. She called for a servant. She told her to go into town and go to a mail delivery service. The servant knew the rest without being told. The servant left to do the delivery.
The queen went to her window and looked out. Three more months; three more months until she sees her son and lover, she hopes.
