Ravished within Self-denial

A/N: this is a narrative story, so the use of the word I may be author talking. Don't worry though; you'll be able to tell whose talking. Thoughts are in italics. This is a mixture of demons and humans - no danger here between the two species. This story starts as a high school setting (first chap only), but the rest is going to take place in University (studies after high school). This fic is going to progress slowly. Enjoy!

Chapter 3: An Unwanted Beginning

“Kagiiiii!!!” squealed Ayami.

Kagome cringed and whispered in Sango's ears. “I hate it when she calls me that.”

Sango just forced a smile.

“Ayame! You're looking great!”

Ayame squeezed her as tight as she could. “Oh. Someone looks like she's been working on her bod-ay!”

“Well. I do sports - a lot. So yeah!” Kagome forced out a laugh.

Ayame smiled.

“That's nice.”

“Yup, hey, a girl needs to learn to defend herself so yeah, I prefer to stay in shape.”

Ayame smiled sweetly at her and sandwiched Sango in her arms next!

“Oh la la! Aren't we looking sexy tonight?”

Sango was in a red tube top but she had a black cardigan on top since it was `dinner with parents.” With it, she wore a dark jeans skirt that reached her knees. She wore a delicate silver chain at her neck and little silver earrings.

“Hey, I haven't seen my boyfriend since four weeks.”

“Yeah, and that's a really long time!” Ayame said sarcastically.

“You'd know if you'd have one!”

That caused Ayame to gasp! “Oh you just didn't say that!”

“Ahem. Shouldn't we go meet your parents Ayame?” interrupted Kagome.

That caused the girls to come to a halt as they entered the house.

“Kagome and Sango. Thank you so much dears! It's a pleasure to see you again,” smiled Mrs. Bay.

“Thank you for inviting us, Mr and Mrs. Bay,” responded Kagome as she shook their hands.

“Yeah. We're delighted to be here.”

“We're glad to hear that,” said Mr. Bay as he shook Sango's hand.

“Please, help yourself.”

Both girls smiled at each other and looked around. They were in their backyard. There were little lights lighting the area since it was dark already. There were many tables with several chairs surrounding them. In the corner, there were drinks being served, and from what it seemed people were already helping themselves.

Kagome, of course, helped herself with punch juice as Sango settled for Sparkling Water.

As Kagome looked around she didn't seem to recognize anyone, except the obvious: the hosts, of course.

Maybe we're early, she thought.

“Where's Miroku?” hissed Sango in Kagome's ear.

“Late as usual, Sangs.”

Sango frowned as she crossed her arms. Suddenly, she seemed to spot a certain someone. She stomped her way there and between all the girls, she caught an ear and dragged him out.

“Miroku!”

“Sango, my dear, I was just trying to entertain these lovely ladies-”

“Mirokuuu!!!” Sango shrieked.

“Aah! Don't yell. I was just joking.” With that said, he quickly planted his lips on her firmly. Although she was very angry at him, four weeks of partition was too long and his lips seemed to have worked their magic.

Despite her anger, which faded quicker than it came, she kissed him back feverishly. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. She snaked her arms around his neck and titled his head to get better access.

Meanwhile….

Argh! Sango! Kagome thought, you can't ditch me for your boyfriend!! Now what am I suppose to do?

Since nothing seemed to click in her mind, Kagome decided to take a long “walk” to the bathroom. Once there, she recollected herself: fixing her hair, re-applying some of her lip-gloss and etc.

Sigh. Kagome thought to herself, Great! And they call this a formal party?

She was so busy in her thoughts that she didn't even notice who was coming up ahead. Coming to a sudden halt, she stopped herself a few inches before she bumped into someone. It was him.

Oh great, she thought to herself, why not?

She looked up at him and tried to walk by him, but he stepped to the right and blocked her way. She took a step back and arched an eyebrow at him.

He just smirked at her, pressing his lips up a bit.

“I don't think we got off to a great start last time,” he said as he moved his bangs to the side, making his eyes more visible.

Kagome gave a snort.

“One rejection wasn't enough, huh?”

He just chuckled a bit and extended his hand a bit, “Inu Yasha - friends call me Yash.”

Kagome stood crossed arm. She glanced at his offered hand and arched back at him. Shaking her head a bit, she spoke, “It is a formal party so I have to put on a good impression,” she accepted his hand, “Kagome.”

His eyes gleamed as they shook hands.

“… but since it's not my party, I'll see ya around, Inu Yasha!” With that said, she walked past him and went inside to find Sango and Miroku.

Inu Yasha huh? Inu Yasha thought. Oh this is about to get interesting!

***********

“Ow, ow, ow!” whimpered Miroku. “Kagome, for the umpteith time, I'm sorry. I didn't see you.”

“Why would you Miro?” she said as she tugged his ear harder, “Four weeks! Four weeks! And I still remained invisible to you in front of your girlfriend?”

“Well… she is beautiful!” That made her tug even harder.

“So much for your friendship! Hmph!”

Miroku sighed. “Okay, you can be mad at me, but can I at least have a hug?”

“I hate you!” With that said, she pulled her friend close and hugged him tight. As his hand edged her rear, she stomped on his foot as hard as she could. Miroku hissed loudly and rubbed his foot.

“I knew these heels would be good for something!” Kagome grinned.

“Kags!” Miroku whined.

She smiled sweetly at him. “Just be glad we're in a formal party, Miro, or else your eye wouldn't be so lucky!”

Kagome laughed out loud. Yup, she sure missed him.

******

The party went by pretty quick. They ate, danced a little - of course there was no getting dirty in front of parents.

The party wasn't what one would call “one hell of a night,” but it was nice to get to see friends again, thought Kagome.

It was almost midnight and guests were starting to leave.

“I hate you guys!”

“Oh c'mon Kags, it's been four weeks and -”

“Don't… use those four weeks against me! It's not my fault!”

Miroku and Sango just stared at her with puppy-dog eyes.

“Arggg! Fine, go have fun! I'll get home safe and sound with no one to worry!”

Sango hugged her friend, “You're the best!”

“That didn't occur to you when you decided to ditch me for your little boyfriend,” mumbled Kagome.

“Hmmm?”

“Nothing!” Kagome smiled sweetly at them. “I should get going. The buses take a while at night!”

“I'm not letting you go alone Kags. I'll get a friend to drop you!”

“Yay!”

“Yash!”

Kagome's eyes popped open and she whirled around and saw him walking towards them.

“Kagome, Yash! Yash, Kagome,” Miroku introduced them.

“Hey Kagome.” Inu Yasha extended his hand.

That son of … he's acting like he doesn't know me at all! Kagome thought.

She took his hands and shook it.

“Inu Yasha - friends call me Yash.”

She clenched her teeth, and said, “Hi Yash!”

Inu Yasha could only smirk.

“Hey man, can you please give her a ride home. We-” he said as her threw an arm around Sango's shoulders, “have somewhere to be.”

“No Miro, actually, I think I'll be fine. It's no problem, really!” Kagome quickly interfered.

“Nah. I don't mind. It's late anyways. It's not safe to travel in buses at this time of the hour,” replied Inu Yasha.

That got Kagome to turn and arch both her eyebrows at him. “Safe? I've been doing this for as long as I can remember asshole. And believe me; you do not need to worry for my safety. I can take care of myself just fine.”

“Kags…” Miroku butted in.

Inu Yasha just chuckled huskily. “I'm sure you can, let's go.” But Kagome stood her ground and Inu Yasha called over his shoulder, “unless I'm too much to handle Kags,” mocked Inu Yasha.

Oh that good for nothing piece of shit! And she stomped after him. She wasn't going to let him walk away after talking to her like that! Oh no; she had more pride than that.

Sango and Miroku just stood staring at their retreating forms.

“What just happened?” asked Miroku.

“You asking me?” Sango was just as bewildered as Miroku.

******

The ride to the campus was a quiet one. Kagome sat in the passenger seat as Inu Yasha drove to her destination (of course, she had to guide him). His radio was turned on, but she had no idea what was playing. She didn't care. All she knew that she didn't really like him at all! All she kept asking herself was why she was here. She didn't have to be, right? Then why was she? Oh, she so wished at times, if only she could bite back her damn pride and not end up in unwanted situations.

When they finally arrived at the campus, he parked the car.

“I'll walk you in,” he offered.

“- And not know your way back? No thanks, I'll be fine.” She quickly opened the car door and started walking.

“Hey!” He called out. She stopped and turned to look at him.

“Aren't we forgetting something?” he smirked at her devilishly as he walked up to her. His eyes were gleaming again. They seemed so hypnotizing in the dark - the amber liquid shining lively!

“Oh yeah!” she closed her eyes and took a deep breathe. Something about him - his eyes - always caused her to forget her purpose. “Thank you.”

He chuckled huskily and leaned in quickly. He was so close to her. His left cheek was almost against her left one. She felt his warm breath on it, tickling her. He nuzzled her cheek slowly, increasing her heart rate. Her eyes shut tight as her lips parted. She took in a deep breathe. When she opened her eyes again, he hadn't moved, but he was looking at her - in the eyes. His lips curled up a little and he said, “I'm not that bad of a guy - at least once you get to know me,” he added. With that said he leaned in and kissed her cheek, dangerously close to the side of her lips. He smiled a bit and whispered, “G'nite.”

She watched as he turned away from her, sat in his car, waved at her and sped off. She didn't know how long she stood there, but she was there for a good few minutes - at that same spot he had left her. She touched the side of her mouth and closed her eyes.

Tell me this just didn't happen, she asked herself.

**********

Creaaakkk … the door opened.

Kagome popped open an eye and turned to her left side.

“Did I wake you up Kags?”

“You did now!” Kagome sat up.

“Sorry.”

“Nah! I was up anyways. Did you guys have fun?”

“Yeah! It was amazing. He went around for a walk in the park, had some ice cream and yeah… it was so nice to be together again. I missed him so much.”

Kagome just smiled at her. She knew just how much in love her friends were.

“I'm glad Sangs.”

As Sango changed into her pajamas and went to brush her teeth, she called out to Kagome.

“So Kags… how did it go with you and Yash?”

“Me and Inu Yasha,” she emphasized on his full name, “did exactly what we were supposed to do.”

Sango stopped brushing and stared at her.

“Sango!” Kagome shrieked. “Will you get your mind out of the gutter? I meant that he dropped me just like he was supposed to and went home, just like he was supposed to.”

Sango laughed. “And…”

“And…” Kagome repeated.

Sango gave her the don't-lie-to-me look.

“So… what do you think about him?”

“What's there to think?”

“I dunno. Are your progesterone and estrogen working?”

“My hormones are perfectly normal Sango!”

“No! If they were normal, you wouldn't be alone in this bed right now!”

Kagome gave her the oh-pulease-I'm-too-good-for-him look.

“Oh c'mon Kagome, you don't mean to tell me that you're not even a least bit interested in him! If I wasn't dating Miro, I would have so jumped him by now!”

Kagome didn't answer.

“Kagome, what is the matter with you? I can't even remember the last time you dated a guy?”

“I can't either Sango, so no worries.”

“Kags… don't you miss it - dating? What has gotten in you?”

“Sangs, we've had this talk before. I just… am not interested.”

“In what? You've become this ghostly person that does nothing in her social life anymore. I should say that I was surprised that you actually went to Ayame's today. Kagome… why are you throwing away your life? What are you scared of? What are you running away from?”

“Maybe I'm just not interested in men anymore. You think I'm going lez?”

Sango just stared at her.

Kagome sighed. She didn't know what to tell Sango. She didn't know the answers to these questions herself.

Without saying another word, Kagome lay down and pulled her comforter over her head. She didn't wanna talk about this. There was a time when she wanted someone - of her own. She wanted someone to love her. But in order to do that, she needed to love back. And that is something she couldn't do. If she stopped doing anything for a moment and thought about it, there wouldn't be a single person in her life that she `loved.'

She didn't want to love.

She didn't want to be loved.

He had kissed her. He was just another guy - just like the rest of them out there. She'd rejected them; so he was no different. She couldn't love him. She couldn't let her heart want him. And that's why she didn't date `them' anymore. That's where this whole `love matter' would start. So she did what she thought out to be wise and cut off the main line. She broke off the initial phase.

He had caught her interest. That much she couldn't lie to herself. He definitely had her attention, but she couldn't. She couldn't let her heart want Inu Yasha.

She didn't want to love.

She didn't want to be loved.

And Inu Yasha or not, her heart wasn't going to open its wall anymore. That was a promise she had made to herself; a promise to not let herself get hurt anymore; a promise that meant to remain immortal.

Her eyes drooped as tears made their way down, staining her pale face. It's been a while since her tears had fallen, but then again, a few tears were definitely better than an undying ache.

Her eyes shut completely and she fell into another world - a world that may save her from these eternal agonies.
