*** CHAPTER 3 ***
Sesshoumaru watched as the monk walked with Kagome. He wanted to attack again, something inside him was stirring. The monk was perverse by nature, and because of a curse, set upon him by the coward Naraku, Miroku was always attempting to fill a woman’s, any woman’s, womb with a babe so that his legacy may one day continue.
The something inside him felt vaguely like jealousy. Of course, Sesshoumaru knew better, he did not get jealous, there simply was no need for such a pathetic emotion. This woman was the same as any other, and whether any of them liked it or not, he was going to take her, drain her, and ultimately, kill her.
Smelling her blood made him hard again, damn! He’d just gotten rid of that problem, but this woman... He hadn’t had this much desire for any one woman in a long time. Women, to him, were passing amusements. He took their bodies, then drank from their bodies, the ultimate result being that he disposed of their bodies.
Growling he took off, this could wait another night, he’d already had one meal, he didn’t need another. It was just that his brother was so very attached to this particular miko, and beyond that...
He was thinking too much about her. There would be no more thought to that girl, he decided. However he heard a slap after several minutes, and realized that the monk had touched her, inappropriately of course, and the girl, Kagome, had responded undoubtedly with a very appropriate slap.

Kagome reached her grandmother’s house, finally. Miroku, the monk... Or ex-monk rather, had escorted her to the edge of the forest, and she had then learned why he was an ex-monk. Monks were supposed to refrain from sexual activity... this monk though, had seen no problem with rubbing her bottom when she’d given him a “good-bye” hug.
She stomped up to her grandmother’s home. Not the least bit happy with the monk. He’d said something about going back to find Sesshoumaru... But she found that she was wrong when he grabbed her wrist and turned her around. “I’m sorry,” he told her when she reached to smack him again.
Of course, she wasn’t happy with him just then and didn’t still her hand but he stopped it with his other hand. “Listen to me please, I am not simply another pervert. I have good reason to be as I am, I assure you. Besides that you have to admit that you are quite lovely, in the presence of such beauty, what is a man so weak of heart as me to do?”
“Good excuse.” Kagome snapped irritably, she really wanted someone to kill this monk right now. He was a good man and all, but there simply was no excuse for such behavior! And taking advantage of the situation at hand!
“No, that is not the whole reason why,” he sighed and released both of her hands. “My dearest Kagome, you know not what kind of troubles I’ve suffered...”
Kagome looked up at him, fully intent on remaining angry, there simply was no excuse. However the deep, and saddened look in his eyes made her falter. She wanted to know what was wrong suddenly... he looked like someone had broken him...
He must’ve taken her faltering as a go-ahead. “A long time ago my father, a great monk and a decent man was tricked by a bewitching woman. He could not explain his desire for her, he’d been a monk for as long as he had been a man. This woman though, made him forget his moral code, and he offered her a place to stay for the night... In his bed.”
Kagome winced, finding herself pulled into his story. She didn’t for one second consider that Miroku may have been coloring the story ever so slightly to make his father seem better, and to make her more interested and susceptible to the story.
“She was no woman, but a great demonic creature, one of the devil’s own I imagine, and he cursed my poor, honest great-grandfather.” He brought his hand to his face. His face so sad, he looked very on the verge of tearing up right then and there. “My great-grandfather was cursed to have a hole in his hand, eventually the hole would grow, and grow, if he ever opened his hand a great void would be created and everything in the area would be swallowed up... Eventually the void would swallow him up as well.”
Her heart was beating fast in her chest, such a void sounded horrible! What kind of beast would put that in someone’s hand?
“He said it would kill him, and all of his children until there were none left, or until one of his line killed Naraku, who was the demonic creature that placed this curse on our line.” he turned his eyes back up to her. His eyes looked determined and she realized that she had gotten closer to him during this little speech.
“So, you see why it is essential that our line continue, so that if I fail, perhaps one of my children will one day kill Naraku. Setting our line free.” he took both of her hands in his, she didn’t really notice, she was too absorbed in her sympathy for this man. “So, my dearest Kagome, if you hold any pity, or love in your heart, I beg of you, please bear my child.”
“No she won’t!”
Kagome blinked in surprise as the monk’s hands were forcefully removed, and he was knocked several feet away, into a near-by tree, in fact.
There was a red flash and standing in front of her, looking at her critically was Inuyasha. “Inuyasha!” she cried happily, hugging him tight to her, she was so happy to see him! He hesitated a moment but wrapped his arms around her too.
“What happened to you?” he asked her, his voice sounded kind of harsh, but it was as if he was struggling to sound that way. “I smell my brother all over you... Why didn’t you stay on the main path?!”
“Another vampire?!” Miroku stood up after a moment, and threw another piece of parchment at Inuyasha, like one of the one’s he’d thrown at Sesshoumaru. “Get away from her, foul beast!” he called as he did this, but Inuyasha pushed Kagome away, and dodged the parchment.
“Kagome, move! I am about to unleash my wind tunnel!” He didn’t give her any time, but turned the hand that was cursed so powerfully towards Inuyasha, pulling off the sacred beads that held the power in check.
In her whole life she had never expected to see such power coming from a human! It was incredible! His hand was sucking in near-by trees, and some small animals that had gotten too close to the horrible void...
But...
Inuyasha was in the path of this thing, he was digging into the ground with both hands, but she guessed that wouldn’t last long... If only she could do something! Miroku wouldn’t listen to her, if Inuyasha was a vampire, as all things seemed to indicate, then Miroku would assume that he’d used some of the same mind tricks on her as had Sesshoumaru.
“Kagome, move!” he’d said that just before opening the “wind tunnel,” as he’d called that horrible hole. She couldn’t imagine where everything went once absorbed, but she didn’t have time to think on that, she only had time to act.
Running as fast as she could she jumped into the wind tunnel’s path, and flew fast at Miroku, seconds before Inuyasha lost his grip. Miroku saw her flying at him, she saw his mouth go wide but she was too focused on the looming void... Was she going to die? Was she going to disappear inside that thing forever? With all the other things... would she die?
Fortunately he wrapped the wind tunnel up before it happened and she crashed into him, knocking him down to the ground, and knocking him out all together.
“Who the fuck is he?!” Inuyasha snarled, “The shit was thinking he was going to take you tonight! And you injured! What an ass...” Inuyasha walked up to the fallen monk, a look of pure murder in his strange yellow eyes. “I fucking hate his kind! They don’t know when to fucking back-off!”
Then he looked at Kagome, “Get off’a him, I’m gonna make sure he never gets up again.”
Kagome got off of him, but didn’t move far enough away for Inuyasha to hurt the man. “No!” she said putting her hands out wide, protecting the fallen monk. “He may be a pervert, but I don’t think he’s all that bad!”
“”Not all that bad?!” the pervert fucking touched you! He was about to try and get you into his fucking bed!” Inuyasha spat. “He’s lucky he’s alive at all!”
“He’s NOT all that bad! If he was nothing but a pervert I’m sure he’d have just sucked me into that horrid hole with you!” she shouted, looking him dead in the eyes, she felt a pressure in her mind, but she squished it, telling him that she knew what he was and he wasn’t going to do that stuff anymore.
“What?!” he looked even angrier. “Sesshoumaru... He fucking told you?!”
“Yeah, he told me,” Kagome sighed, not having the energy to fight anymore. Her grandmother’s food was gone, the wind tunnel had sucked it all up. Along with the two or three flowers she’d picked before... “Look, I don’t care, okay? I really don’t... I mean, it’s kind of scary... But...” what could she say? She thought she loved him? No, that wouldn’t go over right... Not at all really.
There was that prickling, something so minute had she not felt it before she would’ve completely missed it. “Stop getting into my head!” she screamed at him, covering her ears as though that would help, but he did withdraw. “That’s the part that’s creepy! I can’t keep my own thoughts, you’ve been playing with them from the start haven’t you?!”
He looked guilty and she took that as a “yes,” but she didn’t care anymore, she was just tired, she’d stay with her grandmother tonight. “It’s okay... At least for now, I want to talk to your tomorrow but I’m so tired Inuyasha...” she was pleading with him, “Just, please don’t hurt him anymore okay? I want to talk to him tomorrow too...”
Inuyasha made a growling sound, but nodded, “Okay, whatever just make sure we can talk tomorrow.” he looked over his shoulder into the forest, “For now I have to go look for that shit brother of mine, when I see him you won’t have any objections if I decide to kill him will you? Or do you just want to talk to every goddamn thing?!”
“Kill him if you want.” Kagome sighed and stood, drawing her breathe in sharply when she felt something caress her bottom as she stood. That damn monk! He wasn’t unconscious at all! Still, she didn’t want him to die, so instead of alerting Inuyasha she simply stomped on the man’s hand before turning on her heal and heading for her grandmother’s home.
Miroku howled in pain but thankfully Inuyasha just thought it was Kagome’s revenge from earlier. He snorted and headed into the forest, “If you want to find that brother of mine too you’re welcome to come along, human, but I won’t save your ass if you get in the way.” Inuyasha snapped at the monk who didn’t look at all like he wanted an alliance with a vampire. However, he figured if he could ally himself with this “Inuyasha” quietly he could get closer to Kagome.
‘Don’t even think about it monk, that girl is mine.’ Inuyasha’s voice spoke directly into Miroku’s mind and he scowled, this was going to be annoying. So, Inuyasha had already decided on this girl for himself? Well, he couldn’t stop Kagome from changing her mind, now could he? Besides, he didn’t want that pure girl to turn into a vampire, he couldn’t see her drinking the blood of the living to sustain herself, she’d sooner starve, and he wanted Inuyasha to hear every word of that.
If the unhappy snort ahead of him said anything, Inuyasha had heard loud and clear.
