InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Red Snow ❯ Decision ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
So after reading LOTS of Sess/Rin fanfics, I decided to start abominating and make one of my own. So here goes!
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha. If I did, you think I'd be writing this? No, I'd be in a mansion in Hawaii.

Chapter One: Decision
----------------------------
"Rin."
A little human girl, who couldn't be older than nine, was climbing a sakura tree, trying to reach its blossoms. At the sound of her name the little girl perked up and responded, "Yes, Sesshoumaru-sama?"
"We're leaving. Come."
Rin smiled and climbed down from the tree and ran up to her Sesshoumaru-sama. Her masters' stoic nature never bothered her, in fact she rather liked it, having grown accustomed to his cold demeanor over the past two years, and grown used to it. Sesshoumaru's toad-like servant, Jaken, quickly waddled up behind Rin, while the two-headed mount, Ah-Un snorted and followed obediently into his masters steps.
It was spring, and the sakura trees were blossoming prettily, some of their petals falling to the ground, creating a pink and very fragrant trail to follow. The sun was shining, and it's warm rays shone down on the tree grove, making everything come alive. Rin was as happy as she had ever been, and even happier in her masters presence. But her joy was not to last.
They had come upon a small village and a watchman ran up to stop them. "Begone youkai! This village is protected by Chouwa, the miko! She shall destroy you if you come any further!" Sesshoumaru ignored him and continued walking. When word spread of a youkai nearing the village cries and shouts filled the air of "Youkai! Lady Chouwa, save us!" But Sesshoumaru did not stop walking until an old woman called out to them. "Halt, Youkai! I am Chouwa, miko and patron of this village, and no harm shall befall it." Again, Sesshoumaru ignored the threat and spoke "This Sesshoumaru is delivering a child here. I will not fight."
Rin was confused. Deliver a child? Her? Her Sesshoumaru-sama would never abandon her. Right? Rin was broken from her thoughts when the miko spoke up. "The little one behind you?" Sesshoumaru did not respond only nodded. Rin was stricken. Her was leaving her? He didn't want her any more? But she didn't want to leave. She loved her Sesshoumaru-sama.
Hesitantly the old miko walked to Rin and picked her up. Rin just complied, dumbstruck. Abruptly, Sesshoumaru turned around and walked away. Rin screamed and broke from Chouwa's grip. Crying, she ran up to Sesshoumaru and took hold of his leg. "No! Rin will not leave! Rin will stay with Sesshoumaru-sama!" Wordlessly, Sesshoumaru knelt next to her and pushed something into her hand. He then stood up and silently walked away.
It wasn't until after Rin had reached her new home that she looked at the thing in her hand.
It was an ivory comb. Embedded on the side was an intricate design laced with pink sakura flowers. It was shaped like the crescent moon and Rin had never seen a trinket so beautiful. She held it to her face, her cheeks still stained with tears. "I'll love you forever Sesshoumaru-sama."
That was eleven years ago.
Now, Rin had grown to be a fine lady. As the miko, Chouwa, was growing old, she trained Rin to be her successor, along with two other girls, Giniro and Kiniro. But Rin had far outshone the other girls, so after Chouwa's powers had depleted, and purifying youkai had become a near impossibility, Rin became Head Miko. It was said that she even rivaled the powers of the Priestess Midoriko. [1]
She had adapted well to her new lifestyle, but she never forget Sesshoumaru. Although she never told anybody about the precious comb that her Sesshoumaru-sama gave to her, in the privacy of her room she would always hold to her face and think of him.
"Lady Rin! Lady Rin! A demon is nearing the village!"
Rin sighed and headed toward the source of the screams. When she came to the edge of the village she found that some of the homes were burning and that a great ryu youkai was the source of the trouble. Rin called for the villagers to leave while she purified the youkai.
She drew her bow back and released the arrow. Instead of imbedding into the youkai it bounced off and landed uselessly on the ground. Surprised, Rin nearly dropped her bow. Blinking out of her daze she drew it again and aimed for a clear shot at it's heart. When she saw it she let the arrow fly. Again it only bounce off and fell to the ground. Hoping to see a weak point, Rin drew the bow yet again and waited. Rin almost missed it, it was so small. On the ryu's side was a small hole, where apparently a piece of the youkai's scale had chipped off. Concentrating for the right moment Rin saw her chance and released the arrow. It flew to it's target and released a brilliant pink light and the youkai was burned from the inside out. It screamed in agony and fell to the ground with a crash. Rin sighed and touched her double-bladed sword, "I was hoping to use you Mikomi, but I guess not." [2] Slinging her bow over her shoulder she turned away from the youkai and called out, "You may come out now! It's safe." Slowly the villagers came out of hiding and gathered around the massive youkai.
One of the children walked to it and touched it's scales. Immediately he hissed and drew his hand back. "Okaasan! It burns!" The child broke out in hysterics and went screaming to his mother. Rin walked up to the little boy and placed a hand over his forehead. At once the child calmed and his wound sealed itself. The boy's mother smiled and said, "Thank you, Lady Rin. That was of great help. Sometimes he doesn't stop for hours." Rin nodded and walked to the youkai. Looking at it's metallic scales she commanded that no one touch it, and wait to move it's carcass when it had cooled.
Appearing to contemplate something Rin called for the village smith. When he arrived she asked him whether or not he could fashion some armor from the monster's scales. "Well, Lady Rin, those look like very hard scales. I don't know if I have tools strong enough to shape scales like that." "Could you try? It would be appreciated." Smiling the smith nodded, "But for you, Lady Rin, I could try. Expect it done in two weeks."
Two weeks later, after all the proper fitting had been done, Rin received her armor. The gear was dark blue and red. It was intricately designed and made just for her. [3] Instantly Rin loved it. "Beautiful! I don't know how to repay you!" The smith smiled, "You don't have to. Think of this as payback for the protection of the village." Rin looked up, startled, "You know?" "I knew the moment you asked me to commission that masterpiece. I'd think it quite obvious." "So you think Giniro and Kiniro can take over? I know that they're not exactly on my level of skill but I think they can protect you just well." "I don't doubt that." Smiling, Rin walked towards the door. "Wait! Lady Rin!" She stopped and turned back, "Yes?" "I hope you find your lord." "I do to."

So that's the first chapter done. Well then, moving on to chapter 2, which will be mainly about, Sesshoumaru's thoughts and state-of-being.
1-Midoriko is the very powerful priestess who made the Shikon-no-Tama. In sense she is the jewel.
2-Mikomi is her sword. When I say double-bladed, think about the pure Soul Caliber from Soul Caliber. It doesn't look really alike at all except for the two-bladed thing. More about it later.
3-The armor is something like Rose's Dragoon armor from Legend of Dragoon. Imagine the whole thing but without those armor arm things, the wings, the circlet, and the head thingies.
I know I'm suck a geek but if you want to know what 2 and 3 kinda look like then do a Google search.
