**Chap. 16- Falling Apart at the Seams

Kareena locked herself in her bathroom again. The pieces of mirror had been there for weeks. She had broken it after Rai left her.

She now picked up a sliver of it. It sliced her fingers as she twirled it around. Someone banged on the door. "Kareena I smell the blood already please don't do that to your self." Felis cried.

Kareena was shaking. The mirror pressed against her wrist slowly drawing blood. The world seemed to disappear as drops fell to the tiled floor. The door vibrated as someone slammed up against it.

Kareena stuck her arm in the bathtub and let water run over it so the blood would not coagulate. It stung and then felt as if nothing was happening. Another bang registered in her mind, and she heard the door splinter.

She cut herself again, this time long ways, up her vein to open it wide. The blood poured turning the water a bronzy color. The door completely shattered this time Felis rushing in to kneel behind her and catch her as she fell unconscious to the floor. "Baby girl it's going to be alright. You hang in there." Felis whispered as Darren joined him.

"Kagome call an ambulance." Pitters of feet sounded after Darren gave the order but she could no longer see them.

"Come on Kareena. Please don't leave us."

The beep of the monitors was almost as sad as the sound of the breathing machine. Kagome couldn't take it anymore and went to the reception area. There Darren and Felis were watching the news. "They already showed it. They didn't say what happened but that we called an ambulance to pick Kareena up."

"The doctor said there was a good chance she won't make it." Kagome's eyes watered.

"When? What?!" Felis looked like he was about to kill somebody.

"They said she lost too much blood and if they took her off the breathing machine now she would die. If she does live she'll be a vegetable. I can't do this." Kagome started to cry. Darren instantly took over.

"It's alright little sister. She'll make it out with her life and her abilities. Have faith." His voice soothed her enough that her body stopped shaking. Inuyasha entered the room.

"I came as soon as I heard. What happened?" His whisper was filled with sadness. Kagome instantly switched from Darren to him.

"She cut herself with a piece of mirror, deliberately. The doctors said she might not make it." Felis said with down cast eyes.

"Why? Why did she cut herself?" Inuyasha looked at Darren.

"Rai." Kagome said both answering the question and grabbing the man's attention as he walked into the hospital. All the band members looked stunned. Kikyou walked in and latched onto his arm. Rai stood watching them for a moment then looked away. The woman next to him let go of his arm and walked to the nurse's station.

He snuck over to the group. "What happened?" He looked at Kagome with eyes that pleaded for information.

"She nearly killed herself." Kagome said in a whisper. "For you."

That caught his attention. He stared at her. "Because you couldn't see that she loved you. Because you couldn't care enough to see she loved you. Because you couldn't think enough to care that she loved you. By Gods hand Rai, if she dies I hope you can see it then."

Kagome turned away, burying her face in Inuyasha's shirt. "I can see it already. Where is her room?"

Darren volunteered to take him. Kikyou wanted to follow but Felis put a leash on her. "You don't belong in there, Reporter. Kareena doesn't need the stress of an interview if she wakes up. So sit, relax, enjoy."
