Chapter 11: Vanishing Demons
After lunch, the group continued their journey deep into the vanishing demon's territory. But so far they hadn't seen any sign of them.
“Where are these things?” called an impatient hanyou. “You'd think we would've run into at least one of them by now, being in their territory and all.”
“I'm sure we'll run into them soon, InuYasha.” Replied Keiko. “Just be patient.”
“I am being patient! I…” He cut off and began to sniff the air. “Something's coming.”
Upon hearing this Keiko tuned into her senses. “It's them! A whole lot of them.”
The group sprung into action. Sango readied Hirakatsu (spelling?) while Miroku positioned his staff. Chieko took out two small swords and InuYasha unsheathed the Tetsusaiga. They all stood waiting, no one seeing anything.
“Their almost here.” Whispered Keiko. “There'll be a bunch of small ones in the front. I'll go around in my cloak and remove the ones they are wearing. When I do they'll immediately transform into a tree or rock or something. You'll be able to pick them off easily. When the big ones arrive it'll get harder. It's takes to much time to take the cloaks off them with out being caught. Shippo. Do you know how to use one of these?”
She pulled out a small slingshot and handed it to the kitsune behind her.
“Hai.” The boy replied.
“Good because you have the most important job of all. When the big ones get here I want you to sniff them out and then fire one of these at them.” She gave him some stones that were covered in a sticky substance. “They will stick to their cloaks and let the rest of us know where they are so we can attack. Got it?”
“Hai!” said the boy again, glad to have something to do.
“Alright. They're here.” Keiko put on her cloak, instantly vanishing. The group waited for a moment.
Then, out of nowhere, a small tree appeared. InuYasha attacked slicing it perfectly. After that things started moving quickly. It was really easy to kill them. Every now and then someone would feel something jump on him or her, but Keiko would remove its cloak and it was easily destroyed.
After about ten minutes Keiko reappeared and nodded to Shippo. Soon it seemed as though a bunch of stones where floating in mid-air, before it was sliced by a member of the group.
Soon it was over. The group looked around at the mess. There were scraps of cloth and blood everywhere. It seemed as though the actual bodies of the creatures had dissolved.
“That was too easy.” Said Inuyasha, putting away the Tetsusaiga.
“I wouldn't put that away so quickly InuYasha.” Replied Keiko. “This battle is just getting started.”
