Chapter 11: Catfights and the Prom

It was well over a month and into the beginning of December when Kagome was released from the hospital. Her recovery went well, with the exception of a sore arm and a bruised hip. She could still walk but not anything too rash. `I know exactly what I'm going to do as soon as I see that filthy, sluttish-looking Skank and she better know what's in store for her!' She looked out of the window of the hospital room and realized that she was finally well enough to return to school, which was better than doing the same thing in the hospital for the last 3 weeks, which was therapy to help her walk again.
“Come on dear, let's go.” She turned around to see her mom peaking into the room. Kagome nodded and followed her mom down into the elevator and into the lobby 2 floors down. They joined Dad and Souta and headed out to the car and saying goodbye and thank you for all that helped her back to health. They drove on home to see the first snowfall of the season. `I love winter time. It's so peaceful, speaking of which, I Got to go shopping for the winter prom. I certainly can't miss that!'
The next day, Sango and Ayame were at her doorstep as always, greeted with smiles and laughter.
“It's good to have you back, girl!” Sango yelled as Kagome left the house and joined them.
“It's nice to be back! I miss this, and I know it wasn't the same for the last month for you guys.” Kagome responded as they walked to the school. “I know. So are you guys going to the winter prom?” Ayame asked.
“You bet I am! I still have to shop for my dress.”
“Me too. So has Miroku asked you?” Kagome inquired, knowing that things were returning to normal between them.
“Yes he did. And it was pretty awkward, but I couldn't help but accept. His hands are keeping their distance for the past month, which is strange but at least there has been some peace. I know Inuyasha is taking you for sure and the prom is in a few weeks. Think you have what it takes to dance?” Ayame looked to Sango and then to Kagome.
“Just because I was in a hospital for over a month doesn't mean that I can't dance. I can hold my own.” They all laughed as they prepared for the long school day ahead of them, which was going to be hell, seeing that Kagome had one thing one thing on her mind, and that was to rip Kikyo to shreds and tear her limb from limb.
There was a light snow on the ground as they walked into the school. It was cold and had to rub their arms to stay warm. As they strolled down the hall, everyone welcomed Kagome back from her month long stay in the hospital. They walked to their lockers on the second floor and found Miroku standing there, leaning against Sango's locker. She walked up and gave him a quick cheek kiss.
“Whoa! Now you're always complaining about him kissing you and now you're starting? This I can't believe!” Kagome said in response.
“Look, just because you can kiss your boyfriend all the time doesn't mean I can't. Besides, He now knows that if he touches me anywhere below my waist, I'll literally strangle him in front of the whole school!” Sango replied with a `and-don't you forget-it-look.' to Miroku.
He just scooted a bit away from her.
“Yeah, and she'll do it, too! I fear for my life way too much!”
“Finally got some sense in that empty head of yours, Miroku?” Kagome asked, pointing to her head.
“He learned, alright, but not before getting the living crap beat out of him.” Ayame added
Miroku looked hurt.
“That hurts girls, and yes I so have common sense up there.”
Sango just laughed,
“I find that hard to believe.” Then Kagome and Ayame joined in.
He just folded his arms and pouted.
Kagome just opened her locker and started to put things into her locker, when she saw two hands on the lockers against her head. She smiled and turned around to see her hanyou boyfriend staring deeply at her. She knew what was coming.
“If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you're thinking about something that involves kissing the life out of me.” She whispered so that only Inuyasha could hear.
“You know me all too well. Besides, I couldn't do it in the hospital with your parents there, especially your Dad. But now that you're out…” He stopped and reached for her lips. As soon as she felt that, that feeling that she couldn't feel for a month, she closed her eyes and leaned back against the locker, feeling the full force of their kiss.
Sango, Ayame, and Miroku watched as their friends locked lips.
“Something tells me that they're going to be at it for a while, seeing the force and not to mention the wanting of one another's touch.” Ayame concluded, folding her arms and leaned against the next set of lockers.
“I'll say. I don't think anything could break them up at this point.” Sango added as she went from staring at Inuyasha and Kagome, to Miroku who was staring dreamily at her. `Oh no! Not now! Why does he have to pull that face every time those two have to kiss?' Sango gulped and watched as Miroku came towards her, still holding that look.
“Don't even think of it, Miroku!” She yelled embarrassingly as she hit the lockers with her back, preventing her from backing up even more.
“Too late, Sango, prepare for a smooch unlike any other.” Ayame said smiling as she watched Sango getting nervous with Miroku stepping and stopping a few inches from her.
`There's only one way I can get out of this....' She thought as she raised her hand and smacked his face, snapping him out his trance-like state. He held his hand to face,
“You know that hurt like hell, Sango. Why did you do that?” He said confused about why she hurt him when all he did was try to kiss her.
BECAUSE every time you see them going at it…” She looked and pointed to the still-kissing couple. It was getting deeper as Inuyasha was now pressing harder against her while she had to brace herself on the lockers. She was just completely relaxed by the feel of his touch. `Damn, how long can they hold their breath?' She snapped back and trying to complete her un-finished sentence to Miroku.
“You always try to make the same move towards me. You know better to try that with me! The next time you do that, you won't be able to sleep for a month!” Ayame just shook her head with eyes closed, wondering when this will end. She leaned back up and tried to change the subject to prevent Sango from killing Miroku.
“Alright, you two, why not try to stop arguing for once and try to figure out how to pull these two apart because they aren't letting up.” They all looked to still see the two lovers not breaking their long kiss and not letting up for breath.
“I would rather not interrupt them and be saved from a very angry couple beating us to death. I would rather not relive that experience.” Miroku recommended as he thought about the terrible beatings they got from when they spied on them a few months earlier. That sent shivers down his spine.
“Okay this is getting ridiculous. And yes I wouldn't even think about interrupting them. Still, one of us has to...” Sango and Miroku looked towards Ayame with an evil grin. Ayame did not like that look and backed away quickly.
“Uh-uh! The last time I interfered with Kagome I nearly got killed. No way in hell!” She said angrily, pointing at them.
“Why don't you do it, Miroku? Seeing that you're used to beatings?”
“And that it makes it alright to send me?” Miroku argued back, fearing for his life.
Just before anything more could be said, someone came running down to the three, panting and pointing to the open hallway.
“The Make-Up Dolls are coming and all hell's going to break loose!” He quickly said and kept running up the hallway.
All three looked at each other, knowing that is was not going to be a walk in the park, but more like a blood bath!
“This is not good! If Kagome even sees Kikyo, one word: Catfight and I mean big time!” Sango said, not wanting to see her and her posse, since the last time they saw each other, Sango nearly lost it.
“Would you blame her? She nearly got killed because of her and has every reason to take out her revenge and frustrations out on that slut.” Ayame added, having that same feeling. Miroku just nodded. As he turned out into the hallway, he saw the familiar sight of the infamous group walk towards them. He quickly walked back and notified them of their oncoming appearance. Now was as good time as any to separate Inuyasha and Kagome from suffocating to death.
“Girl, You should know that Kikyo is heading this way and-“
They broke apart, gasping hard for air, and Kagome looked towards them with a burning of pure evil in her eyes.
“Just what I needed, now that bitch is going to pay severely for what she did to me!” She broke apart from Inuyasha and walked towards them, who, right now felt her anger and pain as well. Being a half-dog demon, Inuyasha could sense it better than anyone and knew that there was no force on this earth that could stop Kagome now and he wouldn't even try, seeing that Kikyo is about to get what she deserves.
“There's a battle coming. Let's go girls!” Sango and Ayame undoubtedly followed Kagome out of the locker area and marched towards the enemy with fierce determination and fearing the worst.
The two groups stopped a mere few feet away from each other. People started to gather around the 7 girls, wondering if there was going to be a catfight.
“I still see you're alive. What a waste of my time trying to get rid of you if you won't even die.” Kikyo stated, being pissed off that she didn't succeed, folding her arms across her chest.
Kagome was just unfazed and kept her enraged stare. “As you can see, I'm not easy to rid of. Just give up because you won't succeed, EVER! And stop wasting my time, you freaking prostitute!”
People around them started to mutter and `awe' at them. Everyone at school knew how much these two loathed each other and this time it was getting much worse. Inuyasha and Miroku stood at the front of the crowd, keeping their distance.
“Well, stop wasting mine, Skank!” Kikyo shot back.
“Slut!”
“Bitch!”
“Hoe!”
They kept shouting names back and forth and it was getting nastier with each passing second. All three of Kikyo's posse came up front and stood before Ayame and Sango. “You girls want some of this?”, Said the same girl who confronted Sango previously.
“Bring it!” Sango shouted. And with that, all five girls started to curse and physically scratch each other. No one knows what's happening now, and no one wants to intervene, knowing that they'll probably end up beaten too.
“You know what!? I can't stand the sight of you anymore! You're going down!” Kagome shouted as she launched at Kikyo, who also shot towards her.
“Just what I was about to say to you!” They went all out, scratching, pulling of the hair, and punching. Kikyo pulled Kagome down onto the hard floor and continued to draw blood. Inuyasha and Miroku just watched in astonishment as they saw Sango, Ayame, and Kagome fight both physically and cursing at the same time. The seven, battered girls were not giving up any time soon. Sango and Ayame just got small cuts and light bruises, but Kagome was getting far worse injuries. Kikyo and she just continued to rip at each other's throats, not caring about anything else. Everyone else was chanting, “Catfight, Catfight, Catfight!” so loud that everyone was gathering around them from different parts of the school. Ayame and Sango were now exhausted from fighting Kikyo's girls. They continued to spat at each other, arguing while the “major” catfight continued on the school floor.
You could see small, scattered traces of blood on the surface. Kagome and Kikyo had blood all over their arms and faces and were still clawing at each other, literally, with their nails. There was blood all in their hair too, from being pulled out and scraping at the head. You could tell how much these two girls despised each other and were willing to severely injure the other for the simple taste of revenge and hate.
Now things were getting too far and soon they would be broken up. Some of the teachers came through the crowded bunch and easily pulled Sango, Ayame, and the other girls apart, but not before Sango laid out a punch to one of them. They couldn't stop the other two and when one of them would try to, both one of them would shout very loudly and they would back up. They called for school security and the principle to come and stop this blood bath before something seriously happened. The teachers had a hard time shooing the students away but eventually sent them on their way. Inuyasha and Miroku stayed, seeing that their girlfriends were involved. A bunch of security guards came running down the hallway in a matter of minutes and quickly grabbed the two girls and, with a lot of effort, pulled them apart, still cursing at each other. The principle soon followed and joined the group of girls, teachers and officers. He looked directly at the two who were literally covered with blood. He had an angry look in his eyes.
“Now I don't know how this started, but you two are in serious trouble. Report directly to my office, immediately! And staff, take the others to the nurses' office to let them heal.” The security officers still had a firm hold of both of them, and followed the principle to his office. The teachers led Sango and the others to get healed up. Inuyasha and Miroku followed them, where they would wait for Kagome and would wait with Sango and Ayame.
No one could believe what just happened. Even security has never seen a fight this bad on school grounds before. The principle was horrified as well. Sure he had seen fights in his school before, but this took the cake, seeing that this one drew blood and a good amount of it. The girls were still being carried, seeing that if they were released, they would go at it again. They were still struggling and staring in pure hatred of the other. They reached the principle's office and were instructed to wait in front of his office. Both girls sat far apart, with two security guards standing between them. There were more at the fight, but went with the other group to ask questions, not to mention to keep the peace.
Both of them were really torn up, bruised, cut, and exhausted from this whole ordeal and you couldn't tell who was more hurt.
Kikyo, in all together had a bloodied, black, and bruised eye, deep cuts on her face with fresh and dried blood, her hair was messy and red from the blood, bruises and cuts all up and on her arms, and her shirt was shredded, or what was left of it.
Kagome, on other hand, looked a little worse. Like Kikyo, her hair was out of place and draped in blood and was covered in scratches, but she had a busted lip and both her ears were red with dried blood from being scratched and nearly being pulled out. She was cut up pretty badly, her shoulders and back was covered with them and some big bruises on her stomach. Her shirt was shredded as well and was barely covering her. She looked at her hands and nails, which were still oozing with fresh blood. She looked disgusted with herself. `I knew this was going to be severe. I'm not proud of myself, but I'm glad that I got all my anger out. I hate to see what I look like now and judging by the way Kikyo looks, I may be just the same, maybe even worse.' Kagome thought bitterly. She was breathing hard and not only covered with blood but also with sweat and was physically weak and drained of energy. She sat in silence for a while, until the principle came out and motioned for both she and Kikyo to come in.
They still sat far apart. The security guards also followed them to keep them from fighting in the office. The principle shut and locked the door behind him and sat at his desk. Once he sat down, the conversation started.
“Would either care to explain why this fight started and why you're both covered almost wholly with blood?” He looked at both girls. Kagome spoke first,
“Sir, Kikyo is the one who started this whole thing.”
“Shut up bitch! You were the one who came up in my face in the first place!”
“Whatever, you freaking whore. You couldn't wait to have me gone and had to nearly kill me!”
“ENOUGH!” The principle shouted, catching both girls off guard.
“Now I will not tolerate name-calling and I don't tolerate fighting in my school. From what I saw, the floor in the hallway is scattered with blood everywhere. This has to be the worst fight I've ever seen in my entire career! I should have you either suspended or possibly expelled, but I can't take any further action until I find out the truth. Obviously I can't get anywhere with you two. Was there anyone who you knew in the crowd, watching you?”
“There were my two friends, Inuyasha Tukashi and Miroku Houshi who were there.” Kagome responded. `At least they'll back me up on this'. The principle called for the two boys and to them sent up. A few minutes later, Inuyasha and Miroku came through the door and stood behind Kagome. The principle then continued.
“Now you two were witnesses from what I heard, Can you tell me what might have caused this?” Miroku spoke up first.
“See sir, Kikyo and Kagome have hated each other since the second grade and have been at each other's throats ever since. Only today they went physically at each other and for a good reason.” Inuyasha then stood forward.
“Kagome was severely injured due to an accident that was Kikyo's doing. She's been after me since I first came here and won't let up. Apparently, Kagome was trying to keep her cool and tell her to keep distance. Because of that, Kikyo nearly got Kagome killed. She wanted her out of the picture so that she could get to me.”
“And that's why they fought ferociously today, for revenge obviously.” Miroku finished. The principle looked very confused and was considering all the facts carefully. Kikyo just sat and looked like she was defeated, mumbling very low to herself. Kagome just looked at her boyfriend and good guy friend and mouthed a `thank you' to both of them. Miroku just put a comforting hand on her shoulder while Inuyasha grabbed her bloodied hand. Even though she was in such a poor state, he didn't hesitate to hold her hand.
“Thank you, boys, you may now leave the room and wait outside.” They both nodded and reassured their friend before leaving.
Kagome now looked more confident now, despite her pain. Kikyo, on the other hand, looking even worse, just flipped her hair and waited impatiently for the principle to finish.
“Any thoughts to what was just said, Ms. Sahma?” Kagome looked over and knew that this was the end of her.
“All I'm going to say is that Higurashi got what was coming to her and it was entirely her fault in the first place.” Kikyo looked at Kagome and gave a nasty, cold stare. Kagome just gave one of her own.
“Well, it appears that this is an interesting case. I indeed heard that you were in the hospital, Kagome, due to a car accident. And from what I heard, you, Kikyo were involved. See, there was no point in ripping each other's guts out because of this and fighting is against school rules. Still, there has to be some sort of punishment. I have thought about what to do with both of you.” He paused for a minute, looking at both battered girls, and continued,
“Kagome, from what I heard from Mr. Tukashi and Houshi, it seems you were only fighting out of revenge for what Ms. Sahma did to you. So for that, I'm only going to let you go with a warning. And you are still permitted to go to the winter prom.” Kagome sighed in relief. Kikyo was beyond pissed and frustrated. `What the hell? Why does she get the warning? What a fucking kiss-up!' Then the principle looked to her.
“As for you, Ms. Sahma, you will be on suspension and possibly being expelled from here. Trying to kill another student to get her boyfriend is something that is being taken seriously. You are both dismissed. Head straight to the nurse and get some rest for the rest of the morning and head back to class after lunch. I will notify both your parents of this. That is all.” He finished and sent both girls on their way. Kikyo stomped out of the office while Kagome joined Inuyasha and Miroku and walked over to the nurse where Sango and Ayame were being treated for their minor injuries. They walked into the nurse to see Ayame and Sango in a separate room from the other girls. Seeing as she was in the worst condition, the nurse sat her down and began to treat her cuts, bruises, and open wounds. She was then instructed to take a shower to wash all the blood off and change into spare clothing for the time being. She saw Kikyo and her posse in another room and she figured she got the same treatment. She joined her two friends in the other room. “Are you okay, you two? I see you got away with a few cuts and small bruises.” Kagome asked them seeing the bandages all over their faces and arms.
“We're fine compared to you. You look far worse. So what happened to you?” Sango asked. Kagome explained the little incident with the principle and her warning and Kikyo's possible chance of being expelled.
“Wow, you are lucky. I thought it was going to be harsh, but you got off easy and still able to go to prom.” Ayame replied while making room for Kagome on the bed. She sat down and looked yet again at her hands, which were free of blood, but to her, it was still bloody.
“I never thought that I would take it this far. I will never forget the blood-stains on these hands, not for a while at least. But I don't regret pounding the hell out of her and she got what was coming to her.”
“That's right. Me and Ayame couldn't let you face this alone and were willing to go in with you. That's what best friends are for, right?” Sango asked cheerfully, putting a hand on Kagome's arm, causing her to look back at Sango. She nodded.
“Right, this was one fight the whole school won't soon forget.”
“I know that's right. And I know Kikyo won't show her face for a long time.” Ayame said.
All three girls nodded and took to rest in separate beds until lunchtime.

With that fight over and done with, Kagome felt like a huge feeling of revenge was off her shoulders. She knew that Kikyo was out for now, but deep down, she knew she would be back. She felt sore and weak afterwards and the pain that was in her left shoulder and right hip didn't help ease the pain. She was lucky she got off with a warning but that didn't help with her parents, well her father anyway. Her mother felt nothing but sorrow and pity for her daughter and knew that she wasn't too badly injured. She and Kagome went shopping all week and into the weekend to search for the perfect prom dress. Sango and Ayame also accompanied them and their mothers as well. They went into a fancy shop that did sell beautiful gowns but at high prices. They searched high and low and finally found the one that would suit them the best. They found matching shoes and shoulder shawls as well and went to go try them on. The moms couldn't wait to see their daughters and how beautiful they'll look. Sango came out first and looked absolutely stunning.

(Just the dresses, not the models) Sango twisted and turned and spun the dress. She was wearing black strap high heels and that completed her ensemble. Ayame then came out and yet again took their breath away. She was wearing white low heels with a light pink shawl draped over shoulders. Kagome came out last, looking very elegant and slimming. She also wore black strap high heels with a light green shawl, barely able to see her crescent-star pendant. All three girls looked absolutely breath-taking. They couldn't wait to see the boy's reactions on prom night. They decided to get the outfits and left the store, The VERY expensive store.
Kagome, Ayame, and Sango were sure that their cuts and scrapes would heal by the time prom rolls around in about a week or so. They did all that they could from facials and manicures to their hair and eating habits. The boys however weren't as nervous as the girls. In fact, they wanted to see their dresses more than anything. Miroku and Inuyasha rented tuxes for the prom, Inuyasha's was white and Miroku's was black. All everyone could talk about in school was indeed the winter prom and who's taking who. They all couldn't wait.
Finally, prom night was here. The prom started at 8:00 but Kagome needed to be absolutely prepared and ready way before then. According to plan, Inuyasha would be picking her up while Miroku picked up Sango and go and get Ayame and all would ride in a black limo and would ride to the nearest college, where it was being held, that was about 10 miles south. It wasn't like any other Saturday where she could just throw on some make-up and say let's go. No this was one of the biggest dances of the year and she would look as elegant as possible. It was 6:55 and already Kagome was busily scrambling trying to get ready. Her mom knew what she was going through but told her to cool down a bit. She was indeed nervous but knew her mom was right. She went to take a long shower, have her mom apply her make-up, only eye-liner and lip gloss, styled her hair, now with deep gold streaks dyed in her pure black hair, which would make her dress look much darker. Her hair was up in a neat bun with wavy locks around her face. She put her prom dress on, put her crescent-star necklace around her neck, wrapped her shawl around her, put her heels on and waited in her room for her date. When they were done, she looked in the mirror and saw the fancy side of her. She had never had anything this big happen to her and was determined that it would go smoothly as possible. It took an hour to prepare and that was all she needed because that's when the doorbell rang. Her father went and answered it and saw Inuyasha, with a single white rose in his hand.
“Good evening, sir. I'm here to pick Kagome up.” He said as politely as possible, seeing that he was in the presence of her father yet again.
“Come in. She should be ready in a minute.” Her Mom came running down and grabbed a camera by the staircase and stood by Dad.
“Kagome, Inuyasha is here. Come on down.” She called out. They heard a door open and saw Kagome at the head of the stairs, slowly making her way down. He just stared mouth wide open. `I have never seen her more beautiful in my life. Of course she's always beautiful butthat dress makes her look like a fairytale princess.' She saw him and smiled a little bit at his expression. `He looks really handsome tonight in that white tux.' She thought as she reached the bottom and walked over to him. He handed her the rose. She took it gladly and gave a loving kiss to him.
“You look stunning tonight. The list is too long on how you look tonight.” was all he could say.
“Thanks. So do you. I couldn't wait to show you.” Her father cleared his throat, grabbing the couples' attention. Her mother was all smiles as she took a few dozen pictures of them together. Kagome kissed her parents goodbye and was led to the limo parked outside. He opened the door for her and she got in with him following. Miroku and Sango were already waiting inside and she couldn't wait another minute alone with him. She was practically blushing the whole time. Then they drove to Ayame's house and picked her up and drove to the winter prom. It was snowing that night too, which made it more magical and beautiful. They reached the college a half hour later and walked through the college and to the ballroom.
It was decorated nicely with white drapes, a few dozen light strands at the ceiling, snowflakes everywhere and a big Christmas tree in the center surrounded by tables and chairs. Ayame found a couple of guys and walked over to talk to them while the two fancy couples walked over to the photography section to get pictures of their special night. There were two pictures: One standing with each other and another under mistletoe in which you kissed. Sango saw that and flat out refused to do the second picture but was convinced that if she didn't do it, she would be forced to later on. She reluctantly stood by Miroku, who had a huge plastered on his face as they posed for the first picture. They then prepared for the next one, Sango gave a warning glare that Miroku took very seriously and posed and kissed as their photo was taken. Then Kagome and Inuyasha took their turns and looked perfect together. After that, they decided to find a table and wait for Ayame. They saw Ayame dancing with a cute boy. `Finally! Ayame has probably found another guy.' They all thought. They saw her bright smile and long, auburn hair flowing everywhere, an obvious sign that she was enjoying herself. After a few minutes of sitting, Kagome and Sango pulled them out of their chairs and headed for the dance floor. They played beautiful Christmas songs mostly but played a few other favorites. What they weren't expecting was to have their song play by Cascada.
“They're playing our song.” Kagome said happily. Inuyasha held out his hand and asked, “May I have this dance?” She took his hand and danced slowly as they did at his party. “This is just like at your party. I'll never forget that night; it was so special to me.” She said quietly looking up at him.
“Me too. I've never felt so relaxed before I met you and because of you my life has changed dramatically.” Inuyasha responded as quietly. She then pressed against him, with closed eyes and a smile,
“Same here, Inuyasha. I don't know what I would have done without you here now.” He held her closer and started to think about what the future held for them both. Sango and Miroku were dancing beside them, watching each other and so far he hasn't laid a hand on her so far that night. `He is being a gentleman tonight. Why can't he be like thisall time? Then again, this is Miroku and he won't change. But I'm complaining now, it's actually romantic so far.' She thought. `I wish this night would never end.' Kagome, Sango, and Ayame thought simultaneously as they pressed against their dates and danced the night away.
