Chapter 14: The Truth, Revealed

As far as everyone's sanity was concerned, only the boys wee have a hard time trying to stay as casual and calm in front of their girlfriends as possible. As the weeks slowly passed by, they thought that the end of the school year was not coming quick enough and were passing the days with mostly homework, shopping, and dates. Kagome and Sango were usually honor students and had to keep up with the immense homework loads that were usually accompanied with book reports and projects. Ayame, who wasn't an honor student but smart nevertheless, wasn't as occupied with homework. Her main concern was to keep the big secret from spilling all over the school. Inuyasha and Miroku were a little preoccupied with the situation after graduation. They needed to work out a plan and talk to their folks, which is no easy task for anyone asking for their daughter's hand. But, they still hung out and went out to work all the frustrations of the school day. They all thought that Kikyo was out of the picture, seeing that they haven't seen her since the fight and was expelled from there, but life is full of unexpected revenge and hatred and were all going to find out who almost murdered Kagome on that windy October day.

It was February and it was still snowing but only lightly and students had to walk and drive in this weather. Sango and Ayame were now being picked up by Miroku now and Kagome was being driven by Inuyasha. They usually made it around the same time and had to trudge through the slush, the weather being windy and cold at the same time. Inuyasha just pulled into the school and saw Miroku's car and saw the three of them waiting at the entrance. They parked and both got out but stepped into slush and got soaked at their feet. Inuyasha stepped around the back of the car and helped his girlfriend out, seeing it was a big, cold puddle.
“I hate puddles! They're nothing but a giant mess waiting to happen.” Kagome said in frustration as she hopped over the puddle and onto the snow-covered grass. When she didn't hear Inuyasha she turned to see he wasn't behind her and turned again to see him in front of her. She let out a startled gasp.
“Do you have to that? Jerk, nearly scared the life out of me, and why are you looking at me like that for?” She asked, crossing her arms.
He had a small smile which meant he had something slick on his mind and approached her slowly.
“Uh, Inuyasha, what are you doing? You're scaring me. Uh no, no, No!” She screamed as she was scooped up and being carried to the school entrance. Kagome was laughing as they spun around and trying to be let down.
“Inuyasha put me down!” She laughed some more. He was enjoying this and now was laughing silently.
“Come on, put me down, this is totally silly!” He now was running a little bit up to the school.
“Put me down!” She said playfully, as she got swung around again.
`I guess its better than having to walk in the snow and besides, it's comforting to know that I can get carried by him and I don't really mind. It's just that every time he sneaks up on me he pulls something unexpectedly and sweet as this.'
“If I put you down, you'll just be wet from the snow.” Inuyasha said and made a gesture to drop her.
“Drop me and you'll regret it! I swear I will not kiss you for the rest of the day!” She threatened as she now clung on to him for dear life.
He gave her a quick kiss and softly replied,
“You know I wouldn't do that. You know how much I love you.”
She smiled and nodded. She knew nothing bad would ever happen to her if she was with him.
“I love you, too.”
Ayame, Sango, and Miroku were watching Inuyasha carry Kagome up to the steps. Miroku was thinking about that and decided against it when he saw Sango from the corner of his eye.
“If you value your life, Houshi, I suggest you keep your hands to your sides and out of my reach where they're most vulnerable!” Sango snapped.
“Don't tell me it has never crossed your mind, Sango. I wouldn't mind carrying you.” Miroku said as sweetly as possible but with a hint of wanting his face. Sango just turned around; arms crossed and said,
“If you try that stunt with me and not pull some sick trick afterwards, then I'll consider it. Besides, if you-“, she felt the too familiar feeling and jabbed him with both elbows hard in the gut and now was passed out in his usual position: crippled body, swirling eyes, the works.
Ayame just walked over to him and bent down, inspecting the damage.
“Man, Sango. He may not move for a while this time. Looks like you have to drag him yet again.” She concluded and stood and saw their two playful friends land on the concrete and Kagome being let down.
“How was the ride?” Ayame asked. Sango was now coming over and stepping over Miroku, who was still out of it.
Kagome just looked at them.
“Fun and totally uncalled for, but I guess when you have a boyfriend you don't know what you're going to get.” She then felt his hand slip into hers and looked into his eyes, seeing her reflection in them.
“Oh, you haven't even seen half of what I intend to do to surprise you. So Sango, looks like Miroku is now in the land of the dead?” He asked, seeing his best guy friend still sprawled over the floor.
“Yep, and now I have to drag his sorry ass into the school. Why do I even bother? I should just leave him here but it's getting cold out. We should head into school where it's warm.”
Everyone agreed and hastily went into the building, with Sango dragging Miroku by the shirt collar from the back, mumbling and cursing while doing so.

Even though it was near freezing outside, students gathered at the heaters and some cuddled each other for more warmth. Well, February is one of the coldest months in Japan and extra bundling up is required. They all walked to their lockers and did the usual arrangements and took out what they needed, but Kagome couldn't get her locker open.
“Damn locker. Why does this happen to me? I swear, isn't there a day where I don't have any problems?!” She bitterly said, while struggling to get her locker to budge.
“I'm heading to homeroom, girl. Make sure you're not too late.” Ayame called out.
“That's the whole point! I don't want to be late, god damn it!” She yelled out behind her. When she's angry, she can't help but curse at the world. Sango was last seen dragging Miroku to their homeroom, still unconscious and Inuyasha was about to leave but seeing that Kagome's locker was being a big pain in the butt, he decided to stay.
“Still having trouble?”
“What do you think genius? I've tried everything and nothing works. I think those muscles of yours are about to come in handy. Would you please open this locker before I go ballistic?” She pleaded.
“No problem. This is going to be a snap.” He said, cracking his knuckles and laid a strong, hard punch to the locker, putting a big dent in it.
“I told you to open it, NOT destroy it!”
“It worked, didn't it?” She looked over and indeed it was open, but was hanging on a hinge now. She sighed.
“Yes, but next time, try not to completely destroy it, Idiot.” She told him, playfully hitting him on the arm.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, now let's get your stuff and I'll walk you to your homeroom, seeing that we won't make it in time.” He informed her, looking at his cell and it was almost time for class to start.
“But won't you be late, yourself?”
“I'll just tell them we had locker trouble….and might need a repairman.” Inuyasha added, seeing the full extent of the blow.
She was so involved in the dented metal that was once her locker that she didn't see the piece of paper that fell out.
`Blood. I can smell blood from her locker. What the Hell?' He looked down to the paper that was on the floor.
“Uh, Kagome?”
“Inuyasha, what is it?” She asked, confused at his sudden change in behavior.
“You might want to take a look at that paper. I can smell blood on it.”
“Bl-Blood?!” Her eyes got wide and went to pick up the paper and opened it to have a strong stench hit her in the face and saw that it was a letter.
“It's a letter, written in blood. It looks like fresh blood. I don't know why I didn't notice it before, but it looks threatening.” He peered over her shoulder and looked at Kagome to see that she was a little pale.
“Hey, are you okay baby? You look pale.” He asked her.
“I don't do well around blood. I tend to get a little nauseous and weak. I think you should read it. If I read it, I might pass out.” She handed him the letter and leaned against the locker wall and slid to the floor. He sat beside her and started to read it aloud for only them to hear:
Bitch, Don't think you will be safe with everyone around you. Your time is drawing near and you'll be in hell soon enough and Inuyasha will mine and one will stop me or my partner in crime. You might have gotten away with it once, but don't turn your back on this one little letter. If you accept this, meet us at the back of the school tonight at midnight. Bring no one, except Inuyasha, or you'll suffer even more. This is a serious threat. We WILL kill you!”
KIKYO & the N.B.B

He was stunned. He was breathing heavily with every word he spoke. Inuyasha was now so furious that he accidentally crumpled the paper in his hands, now smeared with the blood. Kagome just nailed her eyes shut and buried her face into Inuyasha's coat. He put an arm around her and picked them both up.
“That sleazy bitch! When will she give up?! I'm not about to let her touch you again. I'll put a stop to this. We'll make it through this, Kagome don't you worry.” He said reassuring her, soothing her with a rub to her back.
“This is bad! To tell the truth, I'm scarred as hell from all this. I don't know what to do, but I think the only way this is going to end is to face them head on.” She said, pulling her face out to meet his.
“I'm tired of this. I want it to end. I nearly got killed because of her and now that I know someone else is involved, it just makes the revenge sweeter. Like I said, I'm scarred but as long as I'm with you, I feel like I can accomplish anything.”
“Are you sure? Kikyo is unpredictable and dangerous plus she has someone with her that was involved in the plot against you. I don't want to see you hurt again.” Inuyasha asked making sure that's what she wanted.
“I'm positive. As long as you, Sango, Ayame, and Miroku are with me, there's nothing that I can't do. And I know that we'll take them down, once and for all!” She had a smile on again, determined and full of revenge. Inuyasha smiled too, knowing that this is what was going to happen.
“That's my girl, full of hope and burning fire. Tonight we'll kick their asses and wish they never been born!”
They laughed in agreement and started to head to Kagome's homeroom, which grew suspicion on the way there. Inuyasha had a tight grip on her shoulders, seeing that the letter caused his anger and desire to protect her, he wasn't about to let anything happen to her, not that he ever did let anything happen to her, but was being very cautious of their surroundings. Kagome felt him tense beside her and stayed close to him. Even though they're in school, anything could happen anywhere. She had the letter tucked into her jacket pocket and held the paper in fear, making sure no one else, except her friends know about it. She wouldn't even tell her parents about this whole ordeal.

“Are you serious?!” Sango shouted. They all had met up at lunch and were sitting in the cafeteria since they couldn't eat outside because of the snow.
“I don't believe it; this letter is written in blood. I would be shocked too if I found this in my locker.” Miroku stated, sitting beside Sango in the booth, on the other side was Ayame who was sitting beside Inuyasha who was sitting next to Kagome. Miroku held the letter in his hands, terrified at what he was reading. Sango was pissed and petrified at the same time.
He let out a deep sigh.
“This is serious. I can't fuckin' believe it. This has gone too far in my opinion!”
“I know. Who knew it would be carried this far? To tell the truth, I'm scared to death.” Kagome said who was indeed showing signs of fear. Inuyasha just held her closer to him.
“I know you are Kagome, we all are. But we can do this right. We've been through thick and thin and always come through in the end, right?”
“But Ayame, That's when we knew Kikyo wasn't capable of such a dangerous plot such as this.” Sango pointed out.
“She's right, you know. Kikyo's become dangerous and extremely unpredictable. Who knows what will be the outcome of this. I knew we were against each other for 10 years now and now she's this close to actually murdering me.”
“She's not going to get you. You escaped death before and you will again. Don't let her get through that pretty head of yours. You beat the hell out of her before and never gave up. That's what I love so much about you.”
Kagome looked at Inuyasha and knew that it was true. She firmly gripped his hand under the table, telling him that he was right.
“That's right. We're all here for you, Kaggie. We've put up with her for 10 years and we won't stop now! The thing is that we need to figure out something that won't make her suspicious.” Sango said, standing proudly, stating the obvious truth. She then sat back down.
“Yeah, according to this, only you and Inuyasha are able to go and will hurt you if we even show up. We need to think of something she won't expect.” Miroku added, sounding as serious as ever. He may be a pervert much of the time, but he's all serious and fired up if one of his friends were ever threatened.
“That's the thing. If any of you show up, there's no telling what she and that other evil son of a bitch might do to me or her. Unpredictability and danger are the key elements we're facing, people.” Inuyasha said, crossing his arms, trying to gather his thoughts.
“According to this, it says that you two would meet in the back of the school at midnight tonight if you accepted this. How are we going to pull this off?” Miroku asked to anyone who might have an idea. Fortunately, Ayame spoke up.
“I think I might something that could work. It would take some serious effort, though.”
“Ah, Ayame comes through again! So tell us, oh brilliant one, what's this scheme of yours?” Kagome asked, now with a smile.
Everyone leaned forward into the table and Ayame began whispering what they think would work. At the end of the lunch hour, all of them came up with a brilliant plan that would blow the pants off of Kikyo and her associate, whoever it was. Ayame assured them that it was flawless. Kagome and Sango were optimistic and Inuyasha and Miroku were pumped up and ready to roll with it. At exactly 12:00 that night, they would put the brilliant mind of Ayame's so called, code name: Mission Slimy Rats in The Trap, into action.

11:50 pm. All was dark and gray clouds filled the sky, indicating that new snow was on the way. There was snow already on the ground and the new snow would add to the light accumulation. All was silent around the school on this Friday night and everyone was off the streets and soundly asleep. The back of the school was really scary at night and even though the police were on patrol, there were stalkers and murderers hidden in the tree lines of the town. Fortunately, they were usually caught before they could strike and that's what made the town so safe to live in. People felt comfortable here. Away from the basketball and tennis courts there was a clearing secluded out of earshot and sights of most teachers. There stood two grim, black figures, waiting for their prey.
Inuyasha and Kagome snuck out of their homes and met at the central park along with the rest of the group, finalizing on what was about to transpire in a short while. Neither of them told their folks and weren't about to due to the fact that this was indeed dangerous and would probably result in someone sustaining an injury after all was said and done.

Everyone knew what was to be done and separated into two groups, with Inuyasha and Kagome heading towards the school. She clung on to him as if he was the only one who could protect her, and he was. It was cold out and everything was eerily silent. Kagome had her fears all inside her, swirling and turning that she couldn't see straight.
`Everyone is assuring me that nothing bad will happen, but my mind is telling me not to let my guard down and my heart keeps telling me to be strong and try to not let fear slip especially in the presence of suspected murderers, wanting only the taste of blood, death, and satisfaction. I haven't faced this much danger before in my life, and slowly my self confidence and conscience are running out of me and I can't stop. My body can't handle stress and physical pain simultaneously and that could be my possible downfall. No, I can't think like this now, not with Inuyasha, Ayame, Sango, and Miroku with me, facing my problems alongside me. Thank God I have such amazing friends like them and a boyfriend who would go to the ends of the earth for me and deeply cares for me. I have to stay strong, for him and for my friends. We'll tackle this thing head on. I may not be strong physically, but I'm strong in spirit and courage!'
She looked up to see Inuyasha, who clung to her, kept walking straight to the school, not wanting to let her slip away and by the way she was clinging to him, she didn't want to either. `She looks really scarred to death. But I would rather die knowing that she was safe and alive than allow her to get hurt! Since this year started, I thought that my senior would be the best year of my life, and it has. I met the girl of my dreams and have made new friends in the process, but never did I stop and think that it could lead to a dangerous situation such as what is happening before my eyes. I had vowed to love and take care of her and I won't let anyone ruin it for me, and these bastards are going to severely get what they deserve for hurting her: A brutal ass-kicking but I should stick close to the plan. I can kick their asses afterwards, but I won't let them hurt Kagome or anyone else when there is breath in my body! We will accomplish this and look at the light ahead of this unpredictable and long, dreary tunnel, I promise you.' He kept her close to him as they approached the school.
Light snow was starting to fall and the temperature fell below freezing. Being too stressed and cold at the same time was not a good combination, especially in the face of unknown forces and in the middle of the night behind your school. The only noise that was heard was from their footsteps crunching at the snow, making a path behind them but would soon fade with the new, fresh falling snow. Kagome blew into her hands to keep her from getting completely frozen but it didn't do much good. Inuyasha was getting cold but shrugged it off seeing that Kagome was the one freezing. He didn't want to see her cold and didn't want to see her sick because of this cruel weather so despite his own suffering from the elements, he put his heavy winter coat over her small, petite, shivering form.
She looked up to him, seeing what he did but was suddenly feeling guilty.
“But, Inuyasha, you need this because you'll definitely catch your death out here and I'll blame myself if that happens. Please, don't make yourself colder because of me.”
“Kagome, don't be stupid. You know me better than that! I really don't care about my health and seeing you shiver prompted my instincts to see that you're warm. I'm half-demon, remember? I can withstand the cold better than ordinary humans can. I don't mean to offend you, Ayame, Sango, or Miroku for that, but it's the truth.”
She nodded and reached up to give him a thank you kiss and kept marching to the back of the school.
11:59 p.m. and all was silent and deadly. They reached the secluded area at the far end on the school grounds and saw two figures standing in the middle of it. One of them was Kikyo, obviously, with her disgusting and revolting smile. She looked like she was hiding something but didn't think too much about what it was until the time came. Kagome just looked at her with such brimming revolt and atrocity that the cold seemed to be no more than a speck in her mind now, not seeing the person next to her, for which Inuyasha was eyeing very closely and just left a chill down his spine. The stranger spoke first.
“I see that you came out here in the cold and accepted. Now we can finish what we started.”
“Who the Hell are you and what are you talking about?!” Inuyasha shouted out in anger.
“I'm known as Kouga, the notorious bad boy, or N.B.B for short. Did you honestly think that you would get away and think that we were through with you? Think again, slut.” He said pointing to Kagome. She knew that his guy was the cause of her pain that she endured not that long ago. Inuyasha just put her behind him, pissed as hell.
“You filthy bastard! How dare you say that to her?! I swear if you ever touch her again, the only thing you're going to be feeling is my fist across your face with so much intensity that it'll make whatever's left of your head spin!”
“Shut the hell up, you filthy dog. Once I have a mission, I never fail. I kill every one of my victims and enjoy doing it. Kikyo here thought it would be the easiest way to get rid of her and I agreed completely.” He had an evil smile as he pulled out a long, sharp butcher knife could easily slice an arm off.
“Stay behind me, Kagome. This is going to get a bit violent.” Inuyasha whispered and she responded with her hiding completely behind him, praying.
“Over my dead body! You will not go anywhere near this woman and simply kill her, you filthy slime bag! You two will pay dearly for the pain you caused not only to Kagome, but everyone close to her!”
A cold and scary silence loomed over the four figures for a minute or two and all that was heard was heavy breathing.
“I must say that you're very protective over her. I wouldn't mind killing you if that's what it takes to rid us of you precious girlfriend and that would- “
“No, you idiot! I told you specifically that I only wanted to have Kagome dead and Inuyasha was to be left alone! That was the plan!” Kikyo interrupted Kouga. Kagome peeked from behind and heard what was just said.
She couldn't just hide behind the safety of Inuyasha, although she wanted to stay there, she felt an up rise in her body and came out and stood beside her beloved, willing to take them on. Inuyasha was stunned to say the least but didn't have time to say anything as she spoke.
“You think by simply disposing of me would simply fix things with Inuyasha? By not having me around? You thought wrong! There a lot of people here that would not only come after you for doing so but would rip you apart. Kikyo, will you stop being such a bitch and stop going after what wasn't yours to begin with. Inuyasha will Never, Ever come to you, even if I was dead. He loves me and is very faithful to me and wouldn't even think about leaving my side! He said that himself and I trust him with all my being. And you, what's your name…Kouga! I despise and detest you for what you did to me! You nearly killed me but forgot one thing: You didn't know that I had so many people around me who wouldn't let me drift from here and my spirit is one that doesn't break easily. People with a strong will and people who love you will not let you give up. So forget about trying to kill me again because that won't work this time!” She finished her speech with such force and power that she surprised herself for being so bold and brave, especially in front of her two attempted killers.
Kikyo might have been thrown back a bit but Kouga just stood there, not feeling a bit fazed.
“Stupid bitch, you'll rot in hell for saying that to me and standing where I can get a clear shot at you!” He then raced towards her with that sharp blade aiming right at her.
“Not likely, you bastard!” She heard Inuyasha and saw him move in front of her to catch Kouga's wrists just in the nick of time. She ran out of the way and watched as the two struggled, one avoiding the blade and the other trying to stab the other. Kikyo took this chance and snuck behind her and grabbed her from behind, locking both her arms and felt a force on the side of her head: A tiny little pistol pointing to her head. She gasped in shock and struggled to get out, but with her arms pinned from behind she couldn't do anything.
While Kagome was busy trying to avoid getting shot by her worst enemy, Inuyasha was avoiding Kouga's knife by dodging and jumping in the air, but that did little good as Kouga was a full wolf demon and could jump as well, maybe even better. Inuyasha looked to where Kagome was; he felt his blood boil and tried to get that gun away from her head but was blocked by Kouga.
“Do anything rash Inuyasha, and you'll see her lying dead in the snow before you can get to her!” Kikyo shouted and laughed her famous evil laugh, which made Kagome shiver at the mere sound of it.
“Inuyasha, don't worry about me. You just take care of Kouga!”
“Don't be stupid, Kagome! You know I'll never stop worrying about you! Like what you said earlier, I love and care for you and always will!”
“Touching speech, but I was in the middle of trying to kill you!” Kouga stopped him and continued to hold the dangerous weapon and making an attempt to kill him with it. The two struggled for some time as the snow continued to fall from up above.
Kikyo still had her gun against Kagome's head, prepared for anything that would trigger her to pull the gun's trigger and shooting her fatally in the head. `I have to do something! While Inuyasha is avoiding Kouga for as long as he can, I'm at gunpoint. Oh hell, I'm scarred to death right now! I know Inuyasha is strong but he can't keep dodging forever and he's starting to slow down while Kouga is hardly tired at all. I need to squirm loose and avoid getting shot and stabbed in the process.' She was taking a risk but decided it was better than playing hostage. She suddenly pulled her head back, head-butting Kikyo straight in her face and managed to break free. Unfortunately, she was still holding the gun and soon recovered from her shock and now looked really ticked off, which was not good.
“Say your prayers, Slut, because you just said hello to the devil!” She pointed the gun straight at her heart.
Kagome was about 6 feet away but couldn't move because she was at close range. She was frozen, both by cold and by fear. She started breathing heavily, getting faster and faster until she felt a pain in her head, a major headache overcoming her and knew that she would probably faint, but she refused to let go of consciousness yet.
Inuyasha was indeed suffering from exhaustion and managed to keep clear of most of his opponent's hits, but got a few cuts across his arms and face. Kouga just wouldn't give up. “I told you that I would succeed in killing my victims and now that I wore you completely, I should end your misery completely by plunging this right into your heart, And by the looks of your precious girl, she's on the verge of death, too!”
Inuyasha quickly jerked his head and saw Kagome in the line of Kikyo's pistol. She looked terrified and was trembling terribly. His coat was still on her but could tell that she was starting to pay for the cold as she looked awfully blue. He tried to call for her, but with the dodging, jumping, not to mention the weather and his exposed wounds, he could barely stand on one of his knees, trying to hold together, let alone speak. He wouldn't let her die and wasn't going to let his current condition pull him down. He struggled to stand and call out for her once again and succeeded with something above a low tone but didn't get a reaction out of her. She was like an empty shell: unresponsive, frozen, and unable to react. Kikyo was smiling at she was ready to pull back the trigger but something hit her in the back of her head, knocking the gun out her hand.
Kagome came out of her state and saw none other than Sango, rubbing her fist. “Not in this lifetime, you whore! Payback has finally come!” She said as she pushed her down with full force and kept her down with just one foot. Kagome was just relieved that she got there in time and turned to see where Inuyasha was kneeling and saw two others rush behind Kouga and grab his arms with such power. Even with his demon strength, he couldn't really get out of the hold and unknowingly dropped his knife. Inuyasha took this chance and basically knocked the feeling out of him, making Kouga drop his head.
Miroku, who was holding his left side just whistled and simply said,
“You sure can kick some serious ass, my friend!” Inuyasha just breathed a sigh of relief, smiled and thanked the stars in heaven that it was just the time for interference. Ayame was strong, despite her small stature, but wasn't able to hold him any longer and just dropped Kouga's right arm and left Miroku holding his left side. Miroku still held on to him, so that he wouldn't make a quick exit should he awake.
“Kagome, are you alright? You're not hurt are you?” Sango shouted in fright and despair as she rushed up to her and grabbed her shoulders.
“I'm fine Sango, just really cold and tired. I'm so glad that you guys came at the right time!”
“We wouldn't let you down, girl. That's what friends are for!” Ayame came up to them, smiling victoriously.
Kagome nodded and closed her eyes, feeling calm for the first time that day, knowing that this was over and nothing was going to happen to her again involving both Kikyo and Kouga. She looked to Inuyasha and immediately rushed to his side to help him.

Within the hour, the police and the ambulance was at the scene along with some spectators around the school. All the teens' parents arrived shortly after being notified about the situation. None were too happy about their child sneaking out in the middle of the night, in the cold, in the snow, without proper clothing.
Inuyasha and Kagome were sitting in the ambulance getting treatment for their inflicted wounds. Kagome was on the verge of a serious cold because of a slight fever making its ugly appearance. Inuyasha wasn't that bad but some of his wounds were so deep that they required a few stitches. Mom was sitting next to her as they finished and now sat outside of the ambulance, sipping some nice, soothing hot chocolate. Inuyasha was right next to Kagome, who continued to wear his heavy coat. Dad was pacing back and forth, trying to make heads or tails of this.
“Sweetie, are you alright?” They all glanced at Inuyasha's mother as she came up to stand beside Dad.
“I'm fine, Mom, just some minor cuts. It won't affect me for long.” He responded confidently, wrapping a provided blanket tightly around both himself and Kagome.
“Good.” She noticed both Dad and Mom and introduced herself, being that this is the first time they met.
“What were you thinking, going off in the cold? You realize that you were lucky that you weren't seriously wounded!” Dad started off in his usual tone of voice when angry.
“Dad, you don't understand. We found a letter in my locker this morning that was written in blood. I nearly passed out from the sight of it. Here, take a look at it.” Kagome got out the letter from under her jacket and passed it to Mom, who stood up and showed both Dad and Mrs. T. All were shocked at what it said and couldn't believe their eyes.
“Oh, my God. Why didn't you tell us about this instead of handling it yourselves?” Mom asked, still reading the blood stained letter.
“We wanted to handle this ordeal ourselves and wouldn't want to see any of you hurt or injured. We needed to end this and this was maybe the only chance we would have had.” Inuyasha answered.
“That's right. It was all thought out. It worked, thank god and look at the result of it.” Kagome said, pointing to a police car with both a struggling Kikyo and Kouga being forced into the police car.
“I'm just so happy that all the both of you are safe and sound. It has been a long night.” Mrs. T happily concluded. All agreed.
“Thank the gods above for that.” Mom said
One of the policemen asked for all three of them to answer a few questions and led them off to one of the cars to complete it. Ayame, Sango, and Miroku walked over to Kagome and Inuyasha, each carrying a cup of hot chocolate and also wrapped in blankets.
“That was some quick action! This is so exciting! Now that Kikyo and Kouga are going to be possibly locked up, all is at peace now.” Ayame said.
“Finally! I was sick and tired of this god damn mess and couldn't wait to put it all behind me!” Kagome expressed, relieved and happy once again.
“Same for me! Now that you're safe, I can rest at ease now. I'm not letting you out of my sight, Missy!” Inuyasha told her firmly, yet playfully.
She just laughed and crossed her arms.
“Well, I'll have to go home eventually, you know. How are you going to watch me then?”
“I have my ways.”
“Yeah, well keep those ways to yourself if they have anything to do with spying on me, because I'll hunt you down.” She told him and gave out a light sneeze. `Yep, I might be getting a cold in a few days. Damn this weather!'
“Yeah, you'll try. You can't keep up with me and you know it.”
“Yeah, keep dreaming, Inu.”
All was interrupted with a loud shriek and a hard slap with the result of something hitting the snow covered pavement.
“Well, that's one way of staying warm, Sango. When he touches you, you practically generate enough heat from your embarrassment and anger.” Ayame joked as she saw the fallen Miroku.
All laughed at that one. Sango however didn't find it as funny as she started to chase Ayame around the scene. All heard Ayame screaming for help and tried to figure out what the hell was wrong with them.
“She's right; Sango does look all fired up.” Inuyasha confirmed as Kagome leaned against him for warmth.
“You better not let her hear you say that or you'll be chased next.” She laughed and snuggled into him and watched the usually funny chase of Sango's revenge. Miroku was semi-conscious and couldn't even get off the pavement, which hurt like hell.
