Chapter 13: In the Near Future…

Another Christmas come and gone and a new year to start off with a clean slate. Rin and Sesshomaru stayed for the duration of the break at the house. Mom and Dad were happy to see their niece and her boyfriend. Dad wasn't happy with another demon in the house, but dealt with it after accepting his own daughter's boyfriend. Inuyasha hasn't told anyone about the secret purchase at the mall that day, not even Miroku. He didn't want anyone to find out what he was intending to do, especially Kagome. He couldn't tell the girls, knowing that they were blabbermouths when it came to topics like this, and Miroku would get pounded by the girls, getting the truth out of him. But, he had to tell someone, even if it dealt with the consequences.

About three weeks later, with a blanket of snow still covering the small town and everyone happy and cheerful, and starting off the new year with fresh and hopeful intentions, all 5 friends sat in a cozy little restaurant, waiting for their lunches. Seeing that it was taking a long time, the girls decided to go freshen up and left the table, leaving the boys.
“Hey, Miroku.” Inuyasha caught his attention by the sudden tone.
“Yeah?”
Inuyasha gave a small sigh, and continued, “You have strong feelings for Sango, right?”
“Is that a trick question?”
“Well, do you know when you meet the right girl and can't go on with your life unless she's by your side?”
“Where are you going with this, Inuyasha?”
The girls were in the bathroom, straightening out their make-up, also talking.
“You know, Ayame, I can't believe that you found someone. I'm so happy for you.” Kagome told her.
“I know. I'm happier for you two. You've have two wonderful guys who practically love you. I'm still wondering how you handle Miroku, Sango. He may have been a flirt in the past, but since you got him now, he won't even go near a pretty girl.”
“Because he knows what I'll do to him if he does.” Sango said in a serious tone, staring into the mirror, smiling warmly at the beautiful earrings Miroku gave her for Christmas.
Kagome and Ayame just giggled at their friend.
“Well, I'm going back to the table. I'll see you two later.” Ayame said as she left the bathroom.
“You know it would be really cool if Miroku proposed to you. It would be so romantic.” Kagome wondered out loud.
“Get real. You have a much better chance of Inuyasha proposing to you. That'll be the day when I become Mrs. Miroku Houshi. Ha!”
“It could happen; I have a feeling that it just might.” Kagome then glanced at her gift, the gorgeous sapphire bracelet from Inuyasha, not knowing that he also bought the matching ring, or engagement ring.

Inuyasha pulled out the box that contained the ring. Miroku just grew a big smile.
“I don't believe it! You're actually going to ask her?” Ayame was walking back but stopped and hid behind a wall that was near the table, trying to hear what was happening.
“Shhh, keep it down, will ya?” He whispered in a high tone.
“But Yes, I am. I want her to be by my side, always. But there are certain problems that I face; Like facing her parents and the timing of it.”
“Yeah, I know what you mean, man. I've often thought about it with Sango, but then I always looked at what I had to do to make it happen.”
“This is one of the hardest things I will ever have to do, but we'll make it happen, I know we will.” Inuyasha was starting to sound confident. Miroku just nodded.
“Yeah, there's no doubt that you can take care of her and provide for her, and you have college and a future job that will take care of that.”
“True, but even if I do ask her, Miroku, how long will we wait, I mean she's just a junior in high school and I'm graduating this year. Her parents would want her to finish school before considering marriage. What should I do?”
“Well, dude, I think you should talk to the folks first before you do anything else. It would be awful you married her behind their backs. And you would have to get past her father, which would be the worst part. I'm terrified of the girls' fathers, both Kagome and Sango's.” Both had chills sent down their spines, fearing the wrath of each girl's father, but got straight back to the point.
“You know what? I was also planning on asking Sango someday after graduation. I think you should do the same thing with Kagome.”
Inuyasha looked surprisingly at his best friend, impressed at how knowledgeable he was sounding.
“I'm surprised, Miroku. For a moment it sounded like you were being smart for a change. Anyway that does sound like a plan, smart too.”
“Whatever.”
Ayame just covered her mouth, shocked with disbelief and excitement at the same time. `So they are planning to ask the girls?! OHHHH, this is just too good to be true!' She was trying not to burst out with excitement and hearing what was being discussed, it was hard to contain her actions. `This is going to be great!' She jumped out from behind the wall and,
“AHHHHHHH!!!” Miroku shot up straight in the air and Inuyasha just fell out of the booth, both with shock on their faces.
“Don't ever do that again, Ayame! Geeze, do you want to give us a heart attack?” Miroku said as he peeled off the wall, nearly crashing on the table while Inuyasha slowly climbed back into the booth.
“I couldn't help it after what I just heard!” She had a huge smile on her face.
Inuyasha and Miroku just looked at each other and then back at Ayame.
“Okay, Ayame, what it going to take to keep that big trap of yours shut about this?” Inuyasha asked as they all regained composure and sat back at the booth.
“Hmm, let me think…..$50 bucks.”
“What?! No way! $20.”
“$50”
“$25”
“$50”
“$30”
“$50, and that's final!” Ayame said, crossing her arms and legs with a big smirk on her face.
“Fine.” Inuyasha said, knowing that he wasn't getting any further.
“Miroku, pay up.”
“Why do I have to do that?” Miroku complained.
“Because I'm paying for this lunch and if you don't, she will blab to the girls, and there goes our plan, that's why!”
Miroku just grumbled and took out his wallet, took out a few bills and handed it to Ayame, not making eye contact.
“My lips are sealed.”

The girls were still in the bathroom when Kagome's cell rang.
“Hello...Oh hey Mom, what's up...?
WHAT? You can't be serious, Mom! I have plans tonight...This is so not fair.
This is pure torture... Alright, see ya, love you, Bye.” She hung up and growled in an angry manner.
“I don't believe this!” She yelled.
“Bad news, huh?” Sango asked.
“Mom tells me I have to baby-sit my little brother tonight, again!”
“That's harsh. Weren't you going out with Inuyasha tonight?”
“Yeah, but Mom and Dad are going out, making me cancel for tonight. Why does she torment me like this?” Kagome asked very dramatically, throwing her arms up.
“Okay, drama queen, let's not loose ourselves here. It's very simple, all you have to do is-“, and just then Sango's phone rang too. After a few seconds, she also screams dramatically. After a little while, she hung and gave off the same look Kagome gave earlier. “Okay, now this was just plain wrong. Now I have to stay home and watch Kohaku tonight! My life officially sucks!”
“Now WHO'S the drama queen?”
Sango just sighed and calmed down.
“Looks like we're on the same boat. Babysitting my little wimpy brother isn't what I call fun.”
“So, what we're you about to say when your cell rang?”
“Huh? Oh, if all you want is some private time with him, have him over after Souta falls asleep.”
“Are you kidding? My dad will kill me if he found out. But I guess that would work, seeing that we haven't been alone for some time now.” She now had a dreamy look plastered on her face.
“See? Make sure they both never find out, though.” Sango said, sounding proud of her self.
“If I do, you're going down with me.” Kagome responded.
“I'll be long gone before that happens.” Both girls giggled and deiced to head back to the table
Ayame was just sitting there, counting the money in her hand.
“I swear, you tell a soul about this, and you'll be in a world of pain.”
“Inuyasha, stop worrying about this. Now that I know the truth about this, I won't let slip past me even if it kills me.” She said, zipping her lips, meaning that it was entrusted to her. Both boys sighed in relief, and saw the girls walking back and sitting back.
“Bad News, Inuyasha. I have to baby sit my little brother tonight, meaning I'll have to stay home.” She told him as she sat beside him.
“Bummer, What will we do?” He asked playfully, creating a smile, staring at her. She smiled back and whispered something he could only hear. She giggled when she finished. He then whispered something to her. He then wrapped his arm around her shoulders and kissed her on the side of her head while she continued to giggle.

“Would you two mind to keep the lovey-dovey thing to a minimum in public?” Sango blurted out, who was sitting beside Miroku across from them, with Ayame sitting in a chair between the two couples. Suddenly regretting what she said, she gulped as she saw both eyes glaring at her, fearing what Kagome was about to say.
“I wouldn't talk about us, if I was you. You and Miroku are practically a couple now and I know what you suggested to me, you were planning to do with Miroku.”
Sango just gasped, knowing she was cornered, speechless at the moment. Ayame just kept her giggles to herself, trying not to outburst, seeing that they were in a restaurant and Miroku had a surprised/happy look on his face, staring at Sango.

“What exactly did you tell her Sango?” He asked her, knowing perfectly well what she had in mind. What he didn't see was a hand whacking the back of his head and has his face glued to the table. Kagome now buried her face into Inuyasha who looked the other way, was also trying not to burst out as well as Ayame, hiding her face from view. Inuyasha had to keep his composure too, letting a few silent laughs escape. Sango was breathing heavily now, red face and all, clenching fists under the table, ready to pound a certain someone into the ground. Unfortunately for Sango, who was freakishly embarrassed and could only hit someone to make her calm again, their food came and had to restrain herself from killing her boyfriend and best friend until they were finished.

The day came really quickly, seeing it was the winter time and all separated after a few hours after lunch, but not for long, heh. Kagome's parents were going to a formal dinner with Sango's parents and that in turn Sango had to baby sit Kohaku, her 11 year old brother. Just as Kagome and Sango, both Souta and Kohaku were best friends. Both who enjoyed nothing more then to torment their sisters and tease every time their boyfriends showed up. But for their teasing, Kagome and Sango made them pay dearly, one way or the other, mostly with what they hated to see the most: romance, either by movies or simply kissing the boyfriend. Sango reluctantly kissed Miroku in front of Kohaku simply for that purpose, but enjoyed it nonetheless. This night was no different, seeing that both would be watching them at Kagome's house and spending the night, the two little devils would do anything to see their sisters squirm in humiliation.

It was near sunset and her parents were getting ready for the evening. They still had no idea that neither Inuyasha nor Miroku would be showing up, seeing that Sango was staying the night there. If they got busted, it would be hell for both boys, seeing how the fathers were. Just a few minutes before 7, knocking was heard at the door and Sango's family appeared. Kohaku rushed to see Souta and went straight to Souta's room until they executed their plan. Sango walked in, still with a rather angry look on her face, but turned happy as she joined Kagome in the living room. Both parents of both girls met and exchanged greetings and turned to the teens.
“Remember ladies, have them both asleep no later than 9:30, and especially NO sugar after dinner.” Dad said, emphasizing the word, “no”.
“We'll call you after a while to see how things are going.” Sango's father replied afterwards. They just nodded in understanding and said their goodbyes as their folks headed out the door, locking it behind them. Both girls squealed as they went to change into their night attire, which basically was a pajama shirt and pants of two different colors and settled into the living room once again.
“So what time are they coming?” Kagome excitedly asked.
“Miroku called me earlier and said they would be here around 8:30 or so, wanting to make sure that it's safe enough.”
“He's always calling you. I think he just wants to hear your voice in my opinion.”
“Shut up. Inuyasha does the exact same thing.” Both just laughed at that remark. Just then, Souta and Kohaku ran downstairs and rushed to the T.V.
“What are you two doing?” Sango asked.
“We want to watch some scary movies, not those gushy romantic movies you two watch all the time.” Kohaku said, concentrating on finding a movie suitable for their tastes.
“Hey, did mom and dad tell you not to watch those movies until you were old enough where they wouldn't give you nightmares?” Kagome questioned, now hovering over them.
“Here we are!” Souta shouted as he held up the movies they were searching for: Halloween, Old and new Versions. Definitely movies not for two 11 year olds to be watching.
Kagome snatched them out of Souta's grasp.
“Now way, you two, Mom specifically told me to not let you see these!”
“Come on, sis. IF you don't let us watch them, we'll accidentally expose the secret that your boyfriends were here tonight.” Kagome and Sango just gasped in surprise.
“How did you two sneaks find out about that?!” Sango yelled in shock.
“We have our ways, you know.” Kohaku said, sounding clever as Souta grabbed the two movies back and inserted the first one into the DVD.
Kagome just sat back on the couch with Sango, sighing in defeat.
“Those brats, not only do we have to sit and watch them, but those scary movies. They know we hate those kinds of movies.”
“I know. They used our little secret against us. This is going to be one long night.” Sango sighed and went to make popcorn while Kagome followed to get the drinks, not wanting to be there right now.
They all settled and watched the original Halloween first. Both boys were cheering for Michael Myers as he killed the various people in the movie. Sango and Kagome just hid behind the couch pillows, trying not to be completely scared.
`Just wait, you little worm. I'll pay you back by making you watch what I'm going to do with Inuyasha tonight. You'll be begging for mercy!' Kagome thought evilly, unknowingly Sango was practically thinking the same thing. Kagome scooted over to Sango and whispered her little revenge plan. Sango just nodded and smiled just as evilly. They just had to endure the rest of the Movie and the beginning of the second one when they heard the doorbell ring. Knowing who it was, Kagome and Sango quickly rushed to answer it, leaving the young boys to the movie.

“Hey boys” was more than enough to make the boys shudder in fear as they both knew what was coming. They turned around to see the four people standing there.
“Time to put our plan into action.” Sango whispered to her friend. Kagome nodded. They both strolled over to catch their brothers but the two suddenly dashed out of the room, screaming for their lives. Inuyasha and Miroku knew this too well as they watched the chase around the house, knowing why they were being chased.
Eventually, Kagome and Sango had their brothers in a headlock, both squirming and struggling.
“You can't do this!” “This is pure torment!” “Anything but this!” “Not fair!” was all the boys shouted as they were practically strapped to the chairs, making sure they watch every second of what was about to come.

“Now you boys make sure you don't miss anything, because this is going to take a while.” Kagome laughed as she made sure the binding didn't come loose.
“Exactly. We want to see you squirm at the sights before you.” Sango said as she strapped Kohaku down tightly one more time. Now both Souta and Kohaku were literally bonded to the chairs, making them not able to move. They were both whimpering and pleading to be released, but their cries were easily ignored. Both satisfied, the girls walked over to the boys, very smoothly and slowly. Although Sango didn't want to be as seductive as Kagome was, she wanted to keep torturing her brother. Is that what big sisters are for, anyway? Both Inuyasha and Miroku were indeed mesmerized by the girls before them as they approached. They didn't want to go too far, but only to make the helpless boys scream and admitting their wrongdoings.

Souta and Kohaku watched in horror as they saw the horrible scenes playing before them. Kagome was giving in to Inuyasha's very deep kissing, like as always, and were practically swallowing each other. She leaned back as he continued to go further down, holding on to his shirt while he supported her back, both moaning into the other, mostly Kagome. Sango and Miroku were in a similar position. Sango had to prevent his hands from wandering down her backside a couple of times and had to remind him who they were in front of. All were so involved in their current positions that they didn't hear the boys admit defeat, and kept going. Both Kagome and Sango had to admit that this was like heaven, being kissed like this, but knew that they had to eventually stop, seeing that they were running out of breath.

“OKAY, ENOUGH! WE GET YOUR POINT! JUST STOP BEFORE WE GO MAD!” Both shouted, startling the 4 on-the-verge-of-making-out teenagers out of their trance and stopped and looked over at the, now panting, sweating, almost green boys.
“Okay, just let us go and we won't tell mom and dad! Please, it was almost too much to bear, sitting like this!” Kohaku said out of desperation, struggling loose.
“Have you learned your lesson of not to use information against us?” Sango asked.
“And making us watch those horror movies that we hate so much?” Kagome added as she still clung to Inuyasha.
“Yes, yes, just free us!” Souta begged. The girls looked at each other and walked over and untied the boys. As soon as they were untied, they made a mad dash for Souta's room before anything else happened.
“Mission Accomplished.” Kagome stated. “…Although I wanted to go for a bit longer.” She then turned to Inuyasha, who obviously got the hint.
“You read my mind.” And they started again, this time; Inuyasha pushed her back to the nearest wall and pressed into her, trapping Kagome yet again, moaning into him. Apparently they favored that position. Sango just smiled.
“That was fun, although you kept trying to grope me!” She shouted towards Miroku. “Sango, I had no idea what I was doing at the time.” He innocently said. She just made a face and sat back down at the couch, with Miroku carefully following.
“Don't you think we should ask if they want to finish the movie?” Miroku asked, pointing back with his thumb to Inuyasha and Kagome, who were still deeply involved. “I don't think so. We shouldn't interrupt them like that. Besides, they're entitled to some privacy now.” Sango said who looked over behind the couch and back to the paused movie screen. `Man can she kiss for that long and standing up no less? You go Girl!' She thought as she leaned against Miroku and continued the Halloween remake.
