Chapter 8

Work and A Visit

Kagome woke up the next morning feeling great. She didn't have a nightmare. Just like Inuyasha said he would be there for her if she needed him. He was lying beside her. She looked at him and smiled.

She looked over at her clock, she was up early enough to start getting ready for school. She looked back to the bed surprised Inuyasha was still sleeping. He was usually up when she woke. `He must have been really tired.' She thought.

She went to the bathroom to take a shower. When she was done she changed into her regular clothes. Inuyasha had ripped her last uniform.

Now she was going to have to order another one. What was her Okaa-san going to think? It wasn't her fault it was Inuyasha's.

She walked downstairs to eat breakfast. The whole way down she thought of how she was going to ask for another uniform.

"Good morning Kagome. Did you sleep well?" Ms. Higurashi said.

"Morning Okaa-san. Hai I slept well." Kagome said.

"Why aren't you in your uniform aren't you going to school today?"

"Hai but my uniform got ripped so I need another one."

"I just got you another one last week. The school is going to want to know why you need so many."

"Well it wasn't my fault." Kagome said in a small voice. She was blushing lightly.

Ms. Higurashi looked at her daughter. "Oh so it's Inuyasha's fault then?"

"Hai."

"I'll need to have a talk with him. Those uniforms aren't cheap you know. Did you tell him to stop ruining your clothes? Or were you too into the moment too?"

"Okaa-san! It was his fault and yes I told him."

"Where is he?"

"He's still sleeping. I have to get to school now. You can punish him when he wakes up." Kagome ran out the door with her bag.

Kagome went to school without any interruptions. It was the first time in a while that Inuyasha hadn't gone with her. It was nice being away from him. He was almost afraid to go more than five feet away from her.

She went to her classroom and sat down in her seat. She was kind of early. She leaned back in her chair to enjoy the peace and quiet.

"Kagome!"

Kagome opened her eyes. The moment was ruined. She looked to where the voices came from.

"Yuka, Eri, Ayumi."

"You look a lot better now." Ayumi said.

"Arigato." Kagome said.

"Are you feeling better?" Eri asked.

"Hai."

"Where is your uniform?" Eri asked.

"It got ripped so I had to wear this."

"So where is Inuyasha? I didn't see him with you walking to school." Yuka asked.

"Oh he's still sleeping."

"Does he live with you or something?" Ayumi asked.

"Uh he lives far away so when he comes to visit he stays at our house."

"Oh." They all said.

The bell rang and everyone took his or her seats. The teacher walked in and started class. `It's going to be another long day.' Kagome thought

Inuyasha woke up and looked around. Kagome wasn't anywhere in sight. He sniffed the air. Her scent was old, which meant she left a while ago. Inuyasha got up and changed into some clothes that were from that time and ran downstairs.

He ran past the kitchen. He saw Ms. Higurashi and asked, "Have you seen Kagome?"

"She went to school already." She saw him run toward the door. "Where are you going?"

"To Kagome's school."

"I need to talk to you first."

Inuyasha stopped and looked at her. She had a smile on her face so he didn't think he was in trouble. He didn't want to leave Kagome alone but he couldn't just blow her off. It was Kagome's Okaa-san.

He walked into the kitchen and sat down in a chair. Ms. Higurashi poured some tea for the both of them and sat down.

"I need to talk to you about Kagome's clothes. A lot of them had come up missing or torn up. From the conversation Kagome and I had this morning it is your fault."

Inuyasha just blushed slightly.

"Try not to ruin any more of her clothes. If you still do it try not to ruin her uniforms at least. They are expensive and the school is going to wonder why she needs so many."

"Hai." Inuyasha said. This had to be one of the most embarrassing conversations he's ever had. His mate's Okaa-san just told him to stop ripping her clothes off when they're in the moment.

He started getting up to go to Kagome's school but was stopped again.

"Inuyasha do you think you could do some things for me?" Ms. Higurashi said. "I know you don't want to leave Kagome alone but I think she'll be fine by herself for a day."

He nodded and followed Ms. Higurashi upstairs.

The last bell of the day rang. Kagome grabbed her stuff and walked out to the front of the school. She had to wait for her friends. They had talked her into taking them to her house.

She didn't want them to come over but they kept making her feel guilty. They kept bringing up stuff like your never at school, or we haven't hung out in a long time, or your never there when we call.

Kagome gave in. She saw her friends and they all walked to her house. She hoped Inuyasha would be all right with them coming over. It's not like he had a choice in the matter but she didn't want to hear him complain later on.

They made it to the shrine steps. Kagome could feel Inuyasha coming. He was running too. She stepped a couple feet away from her friends and dropped her bag.

"What are you doing Kagome?" Yuka asked.

As soon as she finished asking her question a blur of red and black swooshed past them. They all looked at Kagome. The red and black blur was Inuyasha. He had a pair of black jeans and a red t-shirt on. He also had on a red baseball cap.

At that moment he was kissing Kagome. Kagome remembered her friends and broke the kiss. She blushed.

"Inuyasha." They all heard.

Inuyasha ran behind Kagome trying to hide. "What are you doing Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.

"I'm hiding from your Okaa-san. She made me do work all day today. I had to cut down a tree and make firewood out of it. Then she made me move all the stuff in your room. She moved your room and bought you a bigger bed."

"Is that all? You do more than that all day when we go to the woods." She couldn't say Sengoku Jidai because her friends were there.

"We're not in the woods are we? We came here to relax didn't we? You didn't even wake me up when you left."

"You were sleeping. You usually don't do that."

"Kagome I hadn't realized school was out. Inuyasha was just doing some things for me. I see you brought your friends. Why don't you come in the house?" Ms. Higurashi said.

They all walked into the house and into what was supposed to be Kagome's room. "Okaa-san what happened to my room?"

"I switched it with a bigger one. Your room is now where the study was. You can set it up the way you want later. Inuyasha you can join them now. I think you've done enough work. Remember next time to be patient." Ms. Higurashi left the room.

Inuyasha dropped to the ground and laid his head on Kagome's lap and closed his eyes.

"What did you do Inuyasha?" Yuka asked.

"I ripped something and had to do some work because of it." Inuyasha said.

"Oh."

They all talked about what happened while Kagome was away. Inuyasha stayed where he was. He hadn't moved or said anything since their conversation started.

Before it was dinnertime they all left. It was getting late. They all said goodbye and walked out the front door. Kagome leaned against the door and sighed.

"What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.

"Nothing I'm just tired."

"Well you should go to sleep. We should get back tomorrow and see if Sango or Miroku found any rumors about the shards."

"Hai, hai. I'll sleep later. It's almost time to eat." Kagome walked into the kitchen with Inuyasha following her.

After eating she went up to her room. Then she remembered it wasn't her room anymore. She walked to where the study used to be. She opened the door. There were boxes everywhere.

She was going to have to do a lot of work. She walked over to the first box and started taking things out.

After about four hours of work she was finally done. The only reason she got it done that fast was because Inuyasha helped.

She looked around her room. The bed was in the middle of the room with the headboard against the wall. There was a dresser for her on the right side of her bed on the wall and a dresser for Inuyasha on the other side against the wall.

Her desk was in the corner on the left side of her room. Kagome crawled into bed with Inuyasha and went to sleep. The day had worn her out. She was so tired.

Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her and went to sleep. He was also tired. He had been working all day.
