Chapter 9

Mysterious Figure

Kagome and Inuyasha both woke up the next morning. They were still tired from all the moving around from yesterday. As much as they didn't want to they both got up and changed.

They walked downstairs to the kitchen to get something to eat before packing to go to Sengoku Jidai. They ate and walked back upstairs.

Kagome got her stuff together. She decided that she was just going to start wearing regular clothes to Inuyasha's time. There really wasn't a point to keep wearing her uniform when it always got ruined.

Inuyasha grabbed her bag when she was done and they both headed to the well. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome and jumped into the well and back out again.

They started walking to the village when they heard Shippo.

"Okaa-san, Otou-san." Shippo yelled and jumped into Kagome's arms.

Kagome hugged him back. "Have you been good Shippo?" She asked him.

"Hai." He said. They all walked toward the village together. Shippo was telling them what had happened while they were gone.

"Sango and Miroku have been acting weird." Shippo said.

"What do you mean acting weird?" Kagome asked.

"Miroku only tried groping her once yesterday. And Sango didn't hit him that hard either."

"Really? They are acting strange. They have been getting closer."

"Feh, Miroku's probably sucking up to her so she will agree to bear his child." Inuyasha said.

"I don't think so Inuyasha. Miroku's always liked Sango you can tell. Sango I think likes Miroku too. If only he wasn't a hentai." Kagome said.

"The only women he's groped in a while was Sango." Inuyasha said.

"You know your right we've seen plenty of women and he hasn't groped any of them. I don't think he's touched another woman like that in at least a month." Kagome said.

They all stopped their conversation when they arrived at the hut. Sango and Miroku had been talking when they walked in.

"Ah Kagome-sama, Inuyasha how was your visit?" Miroku asked.

"It was fine. Kagome's Okaa-san made me do some work."

"Why?" Sango asked.

"He knows what he did." Kagome said sending him a glare. It was a `you better not say why or your going to get it look'.

Sango and Miroku looked at them and just shrugged. "You guys look tired." Sango said.

"We had a busy day yesterday." Kagome said.

"Oh." Sango said. "Kagome-chan why don't we go take a bath? We can talk. We haven't been able to do that in a while."

"I wonder who's fault that is." Kagome looked at Inuyasha. "Lets go. Your right we haven't talked in a long time."

Inuyasha wanted to stop her from going but he couldn't just keep her from talking to Sango. She seemed like she wanted to go. He watched as she grabbed her bathing supplies and walked out of the hut.

"You are too possessive Inuyasha." Miroku said.

"Shut up bouzo."

Kagome and Sango had just stepped into the water. "So I've noticed that you and Miroku have gotten a little closer." Kagome said.

"I don't know what you're talking about?" Sango said with a stutter.

"I think you do. From what Shippo says he only groped you once yesterday and you didn't hit him as hard as usual."

"Shippo told you that?" Kagome nodded. "Oh well I guess we have. He doesn't grope me as much anymore." Sango said with a blush.

"You're the only person he's groped in almost a month. He's changed. He had so many opportunities to touch women and he never did."

"I noticed that too." Sango said. "Why do you think he's changed all of a sudden?"

"I think it's because he likes you."

"You can't be serious. He just wants me to bear his child."

"I think there's more to it than that."

"You think so?" Sango asked.

Kagome nodded. They both stayed quiet. Sango was thinking. She guessed it was true. Miroku had been acting different lately. She'd think about it later she wanted to talk to Kagome while she had the chance. Inuyasha could be so possessive.

"So Kagome-chan what did you do in your time?" Sango asked. Kagome told her about what happened. They talked for a long time.

Kagome and Sango walked in the hut. After remembering that their skin would get wrinkly if they sat in the water too long they got out and got dressed. After dressing they sat down and continued talking.

The only reason they came back to the hut was because they were hungry. That and the guys must have gotten worried about them being gone so long.

"What took you so long?" Inuyasha asked. He was mad that they had been gone so long.

"We were talking." Kagome said.

"You couldn't do that here?"

"We were having a private conversation." Kagome said. She heard Inuyasha growl but didn't care.

"Dinner is ready." Kaede said. She handed everyone a bowl and they ate.

After eating they all sat around the fire to talk. "So have you heard any rumors about the shard?" Inuyasha asked.

"Hai, I heard of a shard from the west of here. It seems that a mysterious figure dresses in all black goes into the village at night and destroys houses and wrecks crops." Miroku said.

"Lets go west tomorrow morning then." Inuyasha said. Seeing them all nod in agreement he said, "We should get some sleep and wake up early tomorrow. Do you know what village the shard is in?"

"Hai I've been past there. I never went through the village but I know where it is. We should be able to get there midday if we go our usual pace." Miroku said.

"That's not very far then." Inuyasha said.

"Ok. Lets sleep." Kagome said. She laid down on her futon with Inuyasha and Shippo. Shippo was lying next to Kagome inside of her shirt while Inuyasha had one arm above and one arm below Shippo.

"Oyasumi Inuyasha." Kagome said and fell asleep.

"Oyasumi Kagome." Inuyasha said even though he knew she couldn't hear him.

Sango and Miroku also laid down in their usual spots. Sango was near the wall on one side while Miroku was on the wall on the other side.

"Oyasumi my dear Sango." Miroku said.

"Oyasumi Houshi-sama." Sango said.

"I wish you would call me by my name not my title. We are good friends are we not?"

"Hai, oyasumi Miroku." Sango whispered and fell asleep.

Miroku smiled at the sound of his name and fell asleep too.

Everyone woke up bright and early the next morning. They were all in a good mood. Kagome started making breakfast they were having ramen, Inuyasha's favorite. He drooled at the sound of it.

"Close your mouth Inuyasha your drooling." Kagome said with a giggle.

He snapped his mouth shut and took the ramen from her. He didn't care as long as he had his ramen.

They all ate and set out toward the village. Miroku had said it was close. Kagome wondered why she had never heard of it before.

She shrugged it off. There were many things about this time she didn't know. They stopped at noon to eat lunch.

The clearing they were in was so beautiful they stayed a while longer. As usual Inuyasha wanted to keep going but after about ten minutes of arguing he let them stay.

They had finally made it to the village in the evening. Miroku had gotten them a place to stay. He had told the people of the village that they were there to help and were immediately given a room and some food.

"One of the villagers told me that the mysterious figure shows up when the moon is at its highest." Miroku said.

"It's going to be a long night." Inuyasha said.

"All we have to do is wait until then." Kagome said.

They all sat and talked waiting for the moon to rise higher in the sky. Suddenly a villager ran into the room.

"They are here." He said.

The group all grabbed their weapons and headed to the center of the village. They saw a figure standing in the middle of some huts. The huts had been destroyed.

The figure turned around and in the moonlight you could see his face. Sango gasped.

"Kohaku."
