Chapter 15

It's Over

It had taken the group a couple of days to get to Kouga's territory but they made it. They kept getting distracted. Inuyasha was being even more overprotective of Kagome than he already was. She wasn't even a month pregnant and he wants her to take it easy.

"Inuyasha I'm going whether you like it or not." Kagome said.

"You can stay here with Miroku and Sango. I'll come back with the shards." Inuyasha said.

"Yeah right so you can kill Kouga-kun without me noticing. I'm going." She crossed her arms.

"But…"

"If you say it's because I'm pregnant one more time I'll s-word you so hard you won't be having any more kids."

"Pups."

"Pups then." Kagome said. "I'm not that far along. I'm not even showing yet."

"Come on Inuyasha let her come." Sango said.

"Don't you want to see the look on Kouga's face when he finds out Kagome's pregnant? It'll be a face that surely tells you that you have Kagome and that she's forever yours because she carries you child." Miroku said.

"Pups." Inuyasha said. He did like that idea. He would love to see the look on Kouga's face when he smells Kagome is pregnant. "Fine but you better listen to me."

"Actually I don't think we need to find him." Kagome said. She could sense the shards coming towards them. Inuyasha smelt it too or he wouldn't have jumped in front of Kagome.

Kouga came into view and stopped in front of the group. "Ah Kagome…my…woman…" he said. He pushed Inuyasha away and sniffed Kagome. "Your pregnant?" He said in disbelief.

"Damn right she is." Inuyasha said. Miroku was right, the look on his face was priceless.

"I guess I lost then. You'll never be mine." Kouga said sadly.

"Kouga-kun I've tried to tell you countless times I wasn't your woman. No offense but sometimes you can be really dense." Kagome said.

"Why are you here then? Surely it's not to rub my face in it." Kouga asked.

"Damn right I'll rub it in your…"

"Sit." Kagome said. "No we came for the shards. We've already taken care of Naraku. You're shards are the only ones we need to complete the jewel."

Kouga nodded. He didn't really need the shards anymore. He kept them to impress Kagome and defend his pack from Naraku. Since he is no longer a threat he didn't need them. He clawed his legs and handed her the shards.

Kagome smiled at him. " Arigato." She said. "Kouga-kun I just want you to know I still think of you as a friend." Kouga nodded and ran to his pack.

"Well that was easy." Sango said.

"Hai, I think that was the easiest shard hunt we ever went on." Miroku said.

"I still think it would have been better if we killed him." Inuyasha said.

Kagome sighed. "Sit."

"Oi, bitch what did you do that for?" Inuyasha yelled from the ground.

"Let's just go." Kagome said. Everyone left Inuyasha where he was and headed back toward the village. Inuyasha had to run to catch up when the spell wore off.

A couple days later they made it to Kaede's village. As soon as Kagome got into the hut she took out the jewel shards. She put them in her hand and concentrated on fusing the shards together.

When she opened her hand the jewel was whole. The group cheered. The quest was finally over. Now they could live normal lives. It felt kind of weird. Kagome took a walk down to the river without anyone knowing.

Inuyasha was busy chasing Shippo and Kohaku for something they had said. Sango and Miroku were talking and Kirara was in the corner sleeping. She sat down beside the river.

The quest was finally over. The Shikon no Tama was whole. Kagome was inuyasha's mate and pregnant with his pup. Life was good. None of her friends died.

She was still kind of sad. She would be moving away from her family. She wasn't just moving across town she was moving through time. She never had the time to let that sink in.

Kagome gasped as strong arms wrapped around her. "What's wrong?" Inuyasha asked.

"Nothing. Don't worry about it. Here." She handed him the Shikon no Tama.

"Why are you giving this to me?" He asked.

"You wanted to become a full blooded youkai so I'm giving you the jewel." She said.

"I don't want it."

"Why not? I thought that's what you…" Inuyasha silenced her with a kiss.

"I have you, the pup, Shippo, and my friends I'm happy now." Inuyasha said. It was true for the first time in his life he was truly happy. "I think after defeating Naraku I've proven myself strong enough to protect you."

"I'm glad. You can be so sweet sometimes." Kagome said. She leaned into him.

"Feh." He said. He smiled as he held her.
