Chapter two: Spotting her

Inuyasha sat in his second story office three o'clock one morning looking down at the party goers. After Kagome's death, he had tried to drown himself in nightclubs and parties and in the end just opened a chain of nightclubs himself. This one was his absolute favorite and his most lucrative. He called it "Kag" and when people heard the story of its name they all just wanted to check the place out themselves and in the end he ended up making money for something he knew how to do....party.

His second floor office over looked the entire club and he could see anything that was going on including some of the things the clubbers didn't want anyone to see. Inuyasha shook his head as he turned away from a particularly hot scene and back to those dancing. Most nights there would be girls down there trying their hardest to entice him from his office onto the dance floor.

He knew this was what they were doing because as he stood at the glass wall of his office, looking down, they would be looking up at him dancing in the most seductive way they could touch themselves. It kinda reminded him of the time Kagome and her friend danced together when she teased him but they could never compare. He just shook his head at them and looked on.

He noticed an argument at the bar but didn't lose his cool. Within a minute it was stopped by two of his toughest security guards. That was another reason so many people came to his clubs. They knew that they would always be safe there. A voice behind him was going on and on in a dry tone about figures and productivity and other shit he pretty much didn't care to hear at the point. He spun around and looked at the person sitting in his chair. He smirked thinking that only she could get away with something like that.

"Will you relax Rin? We're at a club. You don't have to talk business all the time."

"In case you haven't noticed Inuyasha but this club is our business."

As he went for a drink Inuyasha grinned to himself. Rin was his accountant and his financial advisor. He hated math and refused to deal with it. When he realized Rin was somewhat of a genius when it came to that subject she was immediately hired. That and the fact that he could trust her. He didn't hire anyone he couldn't trust and if he couldn't trust them he would just end up killing them in the end and then that would be just too messy.

"Would you like something to drink?" he asked from the bar that was across the room.

"And have Sesshy kill me? I don't think so," she said. "Besides its not healthy for the baby."

Inuyasha nodded and headed back to the desk with his own drink in hand. He looked over Rin's small frame and smiled to himself. In the beginning his brother was concerned about Rin's age and thinking he would be taking her youth away from her if he tied her down but she somehow convinced him and he wasted no time in knocking her up. It was always a joke in the house about the two of them and seeing Rin's small body and rounded stomach made Inuyasha laugh.

"What's so funny?" Rin asked him with a raised brow. The way she was looking up at him over her glasses was hilarious and Inuyasha chuckled even louder.

"Nothing mom," he said with a grin that caused her to blush. She rubbed her tummy and smiled at him.

"I only wish you were a woman to go through this."

"Hah! That's never going to happen," he said as he tugged on her hair. He went back over to the window to scan over the room again. He had been doing that a lot. He had always felt that if he met Kagome again it would only be fate for them to meet in a place dedicated to her. He sighed thinking that maybe she was never showing up. It had been almost three months since the letter and it had run cross his mind that maybe it was just a joke from some of the guys trying to lighten his mood and get him out on the dating scene again.

Inuyasha shook his head and swallowed the drink down in one gulp. Still holding the glass he looked down at the girls. There sure were a lot of pretty ones tonight and if he was the same person he was four years ago he would take at least three of them home. He smirked thinking how much he changed and the real object of his affection wasn't even there to appreciate the change.

Inuyasha was just about to turn away from the glass when something caught his eyes. It was a girl. A very beautiful girl. For some reason the way her body moved entranced him and he couldn't help but stare. She was dancing so seductively and Inuyasha knew only a woman confident in her body could move like that. He continued to watch her as her hips and hair swung from side to side. His mouth went dry as he watched her touch herself in places his hands were aching to go and he swallowed hard when he felt himself responding to just the sight of her.

Inuyasha shook his head snapping himself out of the trance and immediately felt guilty. He was supposed to be in love with Kagome and here he was lusting after another woman. It was obvious that this woman wasn't Kagome. She was too curvy and her hair was short. Also Kagome wouldn't openly touch herself to arouse any man......yet as he stared at her more and more there were similarities as well. She had the same body structure as Kagome and the same blue black hair. If only the girl would turn around so he could see her face. Inuyasha's eyes continued to travel the back of her body and his heart stopped when he spotted something he was sure wasn't normal. She was wearing a top that was nothing more than a bra really and on her lower back was a tattoo he was sure of it.

He spun around and went over to the screens of the security cameras. He angled one so that it was facing the girl's back and he zoomed in to see what it was. Inuyasha sat back in his chair when he saw the detailed drawing of a large white dog with his fangs bared. That couldn't just be coincidence. How could a girl reminding him of Kagome have that tattoo on her back? It had to be a sign.

"Turn around turn around," he was chanting to himself so he hadn't realized that Rin had come up behind him. She looked over his shoulder to the screen wondering what he found so interesting to look at. It was then that the girl decided to turn around and she gasped loudly.

"Oh my god Inuyasha! That's Kagome!"

"You're kidding me," Sesshomaru said as he held Rin in his arms and looked down at her.

"No Sesshy I'm serious. Ask Inuyasha he was there. The girl really looked like Kagome. I was sure it was her."

During the conversation Inuyasha was quiet. His brother, best friend, and sister were all hearing the story from Rin but at the moment he had nothing to say. She had seen it as well. The girl was a spitting image of Kagome and he doubted it was a reincarnation. There was no way two people could look so much alike and he knew Kagome didn't have a twin. He drank silently and as Rin told the story he felt everyone's eyes on him. He looked up at them and said, "What?"

"Well Inuyasha don't you find this fascinating? That a girl could look just like Kagome. I'm surprised at you really. The way you've been about here I would have expected you to go after her," Miroku said from across from him.

"He did," Rin said. "But by the time he got there she was gone. It was so weird. I mean he was just watching the monitors and I wanted to know what he found so interested. I hadn't expected it to be Kagome he was staring at."

"So what are you going to do?" Sango asked him.

"Well...I don't know. I don't know where she is or what name she goes by. I think my best bet is to wait it out and see if she returns to the club."

Everyone looked at him as if there was something wrong with him. Inuyasha? Wait? "Are you sure?" Sesshomaru asked his little brother. "Cause we can start looking for her if that's what you want."

"No I'm sure. I have a feeling Kagome will find me."

At least he had believed that three weeks ago but now he didn't. Kagome had not found him. It seemed as if maybe she was never there and he'd never seen her before. He waited for her each night. Inuyasha had already given up on seeing her again when Kagome showed up in the club. She again was dancing in a way that made Inuyasha's mouth water and he raced out of his office to reach her.

As he got down to the dance floor, it was to find her already gone and making her way out of the club. He raced behind her and finally caught her outside the club.

"Kagome," he said as he spun her around to face him. When he did so he got a big disappointment. The girl he had thought Kagome, was indeed someone else. She had resembled her a little but that was all. This was not his Kagome. This was not his love. With sad eyes Inuyasha turned back to the club. He was tired of waiting for her. He was tired of feeling alone and sad. He had to move on with his life....even as Inuyasha thought it he knew it would be hard to do.

Kagome Higurashi, or Kae as she was now known, stepped out of the cab and made her way up to her apartment building. She went in and made her way up to the third door by elevator. As she waited for it to reach her floor she stared at herself in the mirror. She sighed at her appearance. Looking at the face was like looking at a picture of a stranger.

Kae had no idea who she was or where she came from. She'd moved to Japan just recently from America where she lived for the past three years. She was told that three years ago she just showed up out of nowhere on the Harris' property with no knowledge of who she was just a name. For a long time she'd thought that maybe her family was looking for her and she would be found soon but that had been three years ago and no one had come.

She stepped off of the elevator and made her way to her bedroom. She was tired and needed to relax. For the past few nights she'd been club hopping hoping to find something. She'd had the strangest feeling that there was something to be found in Japan and so she had come here. She'd had a feeling that there was something to be found in the clubs and that's why she went.

She'd heard the story of club Kag and was very interested in that. It was so weird that a man would name a club after a lost love and what had intrigued her most was the fact that the club had the same name as her. At some time she'd fantasized that maybe she was the lost love but knew for a fact that she wasn't that lucky. She'd never been lucky and though she could not remember much before three years ago she had a feeling that nothing was different then.

Kae went to bed that night with a heavy heart. She hated being alone. She'd wished that she had a family but life never gave you what you wanted. She closed her eyes and said a silent prayer that she one day find her family if they were out there. One day, she thought, one day I'll find where I belong.

Inuyasha looked at the boy before him and smiled. He never knew he would change this much. Since Kagome's death he became a little more sullen and not as volatile as he used to be. He had seemed to realize his vulnerability and things had changed in his life since then.

"Big brother," Sota said as he came over and hugged the man. Inuyasha smiled down at the growing boy. He was ten now and getting bigger. Inuyasha patted the boy on the head.

"Hello Sota. How are you?" he asked as they made their way towards the house.

"I'm fine. How are you Inuyasha?" he asked as he looked up at the man who was his big brother. Even though he and Kagome hadn't gotten married, his family still accepted Inuyasha. They saw how he grieved and knew he loved her with all his heart.

"I'm fine squirt. Where's your mother?" Inuyasha asked as they walked into the house.

"Here I am," Ayame said as she came out of the kitchen. When she saw it was Inuyasha she went over to him and gave him a hug. "I was wondering when I would see you again."

Inuyasha smiled down at the woman. It was true. He visited regularly and they got worried when they didn't see him. "Sorry I've been kind of busy."

"Its okay sweetheart. Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?" Ayame asked forever the mother.

Inuyasha smiled. She liked babying him. "No thank you. Where's grandpa?"

"Oh he's out back," Sota said as he tried to sneak a cookie that his mother had just baked. Inuyasha grinned.

"Could you get him please? There's something I need to talk to you about." Inuyasha watched as the boy ran from the house to fetch his grandfather. A few minutes later, the two of them came back into the house.

"Hello son," the man said to him.

"Hello sir. Can we all sit please? I have some news that is a bit surprising."

They all looked at each other and took a seat. Whatever it was had to be very important and they were eager to hear what Inuyasha had to say to them.

He looked up at the family before him and saw their eager expressions. He had debated whether or not to tell them but figured this was her family. They deserved to know about Kagome as much as his had. He took a deep breath and looked Kagome's mother in the eyes. He grabbed hold of one of her hands and held it between both of his.

"Mrs. Higurashi.....I believe Kagome is alive."

"Kae!" said a voice from behind her. She turned to see who it was calling her and saw her friend Melissa running over to her. She smiled at the girl as she waited for her to catch up. "Hey you left early last night. What's wrong?"

Kae shook her head. "Nothing," she said to her friend. "I was just a bit tired is all."

"Oh. Right. So are you coming with us tonight?" Mel asked as the girls continued to walk.

"To another club?" Kae asked with a weary voice.

"Well yeah. They're just so much fun and we plan on visiting Kag again tonight. So what do you say?" you coming.

Kae debated whether or not she should go. She should just stay home that night and catch up on her sleep. All this clubbing couldn't be good for her health.

"Well? You coming or not? They're will be some real hotties there."

Kae grinned. Well then again maybe she should go. "Sure count me in," she said with a smile. She stopped when she reached her destination.

"Ok. Well I'll see you later then."

"Bye," Kae told the girl then went into the clinic where she worked.

Inuyasha stood with a bored look on his face as the guy aimed the gun at his heart. He heard the laughter and saw the man's grinning face and knew the man thought that he was winning in some way. "So Makoto. What are you going to do? I have you right where I want you and if you move I'll kill you."

Inuyasha yawned then reached into his pocket to answer his ringing cell phone. The man was flabbergasted. He hadn't expected Inuyasha to do that. He was sure that he scared the man and he was going to get what he wanted.

"Hello," Inuyasha said into the phone as he barely looked at the man holding a gun at him.

"Inuyasha sweetheart where are you?" came the voice of Keiko, his mother.

"I'm on my way home mom. Is there something you needed?" he asked the woman. He was so glad to have her back and after she had been brought back from the dead, her three children treated her like the most precious thing in the world. They didn't want to ever lose their parents again.

"Not me sweetheart. Rin. She tried calling Sessh's phone earlier but it's out of range. She's having a horrible craving for roast beef and wondered if maybe you could stop at the deli and pick it up for her please?" Keiko asked in a voice that Inuyasha could not deny.

"Sure mom," he said. Before he could say anything else the man before him grabbed the phone from his hand and threw it. It hit a brick wall behind Inuyasha and broke.

Inuyasha looked at him incredulously then angrily. That was his mother the man hung up on. Tired of just tolerating the man he killed him quick and swift with a bullet to the head. The man never expected it and that's the way Inuyasha liked it. After the man dropped to the floor, Inuyasha put away his gun then turned to his phone. It was ruined. No way to be saved. He picked up the pieces then disposed of them. Now to do what his mother had asked.

Kae yawned as she walked through the aisle of the store. She was tired and couldn't wait to go home to get some sleep. She picked up a few personal items she would need and made her way over to the cashier's counter. As she waited on the short line, she looked around and straightened up when she saw a handsome man walk inside. He seemed a bit preoccupied with something and never looked in her direction but Kae couldn't help but stare at him.

He was tall. Very tall and gorgeous. He had long silver hair and the cutest ears ever. As she stood and watched the man her head tingled and she had a weird sensation as she began to have a daydream.

*Flashback*

It was right after the run in with the two cars after the club that Kagome found herself watching Inuyasha as he slept. He was just so adorable and like this he didn't seem so dangerous or even intimidating. As he slept, she saw that his cute little ears wiggled and couldn't help but reach out and touch them. She grasped one between her thumb and index finger and rubbed it. She giggled as it squeaked a little and pulled back her hand as Inuyasha mumbled in his sleep then turned over.

She kept still hoping he would not awaken then went back to her task at hand. She grasped the other ear gently and began to tweak it. She giggled softly as she heard the distinct sound of purring. She couldn't believe it. He was purring. She didn't know that he could do that and found it absolutely adorable. He grumbled in his sleep again and shifted. She let go of his ear quickly and snuggled back into the blanket and closed her eyes.

She could feel as he shifted again and though she could not see him she felt his eyes on her. He came closer to her and she could feel his breath on her cheek. He leaned over and she fought to keep still as his warm lips pressed against hers. He moved again and within seconds she could hear snoring. He was out again. She opened one eye and peaked at him. Before she could return to her play there was a knock on the door and then it opened.

*End Flashback*

Kae rubbed her head as the image disappeared. She fought so hard for it to stick but it just didn't. It was the first time she had anything like that and she wasn't sure if it was a dream or a memory. It hurt her sometimes that she could remember nothing about herself especially when she wanted to so badly. She looked at the person behind her when she was nudged and saw that it was her turn to be cashed. She got the things down and with one last glance at the handsome man she left the store.

Inuyasha turned around with a weird pulling in his chest. He glanced around the store not knowing what he was looking for but he had a feeling that something was supposed to be there. He looked and looked and saw nothing. Nothing was out of the ordinary or nothing interesting caught his eyes. He shrugged and went over to the cashier to buy his purchases.

Later that night Kae was getting dressed for the club. She had a feeling that tonight was the night. She didn't know exactly what was going to happen but she felt that it was something big. Maybe she would finally fine something that would help her and tell her who she was and who she used to be. She pulled her hair back in a tight ponytail then worked on her makeup. When she was done she took a long look at herself and smiled in satisfaction.

She wore a pair of skin tight black pants that had ties on each side showing a bit of skin. She was wearing a low cut spaghetti strap top. She turned and saw how nice her butt looked in the pants then glanced at the tattoo on her lower back. It was a large white dog. She really didn't know why she got it. It was a spur of the moment thing.

When she had went to the tattoo parlor she looked around and tried to figure out what she wanted. It was all a dare for her to do something strange and out of the ordinary. Her friends all thought she was too goody-goody and should spice things up a bit. When she got there and looked at all of the designs out of them all the dog caught her eyes the most and she was adamant about having it. It was a painful process but after a few weeks and it healed it was all so much better and so sexy to look at.

"Kae," she heard from the other room. Her friend Melissa came in then and looked her over then whistled. "Planning on getting some tonight are you?" the girl teased.

Kae blushed and looked away. "Ha ha very funny," she said. All the girls knew that Kagome was not the one to have casual sex and teased her about it mercifully sometimes. She didn't care though. She felt if she was to ever find the right guy she would give herself to him completely. "You guys ready to go then?"

"Yeah. Just waiting for her royal highness," said Carmen one of Kae's American friends. She was a tall red head with bright blue eyes.

"Kiss my ass Carmen," Kae said as she sprayed on a little perfume then walked out the room. Melissa and Carmen looked at each other then followed behind her. Tonight they would party.

Kae threw her head back and laughed. She was having so much fun tonight that she was happy she didn't turn down going out with the girls. As the three of them sat around a round table, they were joined by three guys. All Japanese and all very sexy. The one that was paying particular attention to Kagome was Jiro. He was taller than her by a few inches and had dark hair and dark brown eyes. He was quite cute and funny. Kae enjoyed his company and his jokes. He knew how to make her laugh.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked and she was quick to answer yes. This was the first guy she'd been interested in since she'd come to this country.

They made their way over to the dance floor and a real pounding beat was playing. Kae smiled to herself as she moved to the beat of the music and tried to see if the guy could keep up with her. She knew he was surprised at her dancing skills and she gave him points from trying to keep up but it was obvious he couldn't. She smiled at him as she made her way to the center of the floor and danced with anyone that was interested.

Kae was spun from man to man as she danced. She couldn't believe the fun she was having. She laughed out loud as she enjoyed herself. When she was spun again she started to get a little dizzy but fought it off as she wanted to dance some more. She felt herself be pulled into a pair of thick arms and turned to see who it was but the person held her steady. A nice beat came on then and she decided to find out who it was later and just enjoy the dance. She smiled to herself as she realized the person was actually a good dancer. The best one she's danced with all night.

He knew just how to move his body against hers. He knew just what to do to make her respond to him and Kae, to her horror and to her delight, could feel herself getting hot for this unseen man. She wanted desperately to see who he was and thought she got her chance when he spun her then dipped her. Her head swung for a bit and she waited for it to stop so she could focus on the man. She shook her head as she tried to stop her eyes from crossing and for everything to stop being blurry.

She felt as the man holding her brought her up right. And she grabbed onto him fearing she would fall. She could not see. Everything was blurry and all of a sudden she was really tired.

"Are you alright?" she heard but the voice sounded like it came from far away and not from just in front of her.

"H-help me," she said just before she fainted and slumped in his arms.

"Shit," the man swore and lifted the girl into his arms. He knew something was wrong as he observed her behavior. "Just fucking great," he said as he took her some place where he could look after her to make sure she was ok. He made his way up the stairs of the club to a very private VIP area. When he got there, there was already someone there and he looked up hoping they could help. He looked into the woman's eyes and saw the look of surprise on her face.

"Is-is that....oh my god is that Kagome?" the woman asked as the man rested the unconscious woman on a large couch.

Inuyasha looked up at Rin and nodded. "Yeah. This is her."
