Inuyasha sat across from Kagome and stared at the girl now turned woman. She was three years older and was now a twenty-one year old woman. She still had a bit of innocence about her. It was obvious she remembered nothing about their past and though it was a relief in some ways it still hurt him deeply. It would have been a pleasure that she didn't remember Naraku and the things that she'd gone through, but unfortunately she didn't remember him either.

He put his food aside and looked at her. She felt his eyes on her and looked up as well. He couldn't hold back anymore. He really wanted her to remember him. She had to. She was so important to him.

"Kagome. Do you remember anything at all? Anything from your past? Anything about yourself? Anything about....me?" he hated the fact that his voice sounded so sad and desperate but that's what he was feeling at the moment.

Kagome stared at him for a second then placed the pizza down and looked down and away. "I remember a little. When ever I touch you I get flashes," she told him softly but his demon hearing picked it up.

"Flashes?" he asked her. She was remembering? "Flashes of what?"

"Flashes of you and me." She looked away again then up at him with a blush. "In bed and other places."

"Oh," he said with a grin. She was remembering their sex life. "So if you touch me now...you'd remember something."

"I don't know but I think so."

He stood up from where he was seated and walked around to her. He pulled her out of the chair and looked into her eyes. "Then touch me Kagome. Touch me and remember me."

She looked into his amber eyes and saw the desire and love there. She knew they had to be very close for him to be loving her and wanted to remember. She wanted desperately to remember this man before her. She wanted to remember their lives together and everything about her past. Kae smiled and held his hands. After a few moments and nothing happened she sighed. "I'm sorry Inuyasha. It's not working."

Inuyasha frowned in disappointment. He really wanted her to remember. He thought back to when she said she'd had those memories. They'd been kissing then. Maybe they had to be in intimate contact to trigger her memory. He leaned down to kiss her. He was looking into her wide brown eyes and smirked at how easy it was to get a rise from her. He reached his tongue out and traced it across her lips then bit her bottom lip. Just as he was about to seal the deal and kiss her, his cell phone rang. He swore then smiled when Kagome frowned at him. He pardoned himself and went to answer it.

She watched him as he spoke to the person on the phone and saw the way his face twisted in anger as he spoke softly to the person on the phone. She saw a myriad of emotions cross his face before he snapped down the phone and took a breath. He looked at her and all the anger that was on his face was gone. He gave her a warm smile and walked over to her. He placed a large hand on her delicate cheek and looked down at her.

"I'm sorry. There's a problem at the club and I have to go," he said slowly.

Kae felt disappointed but nodded at him. She knew it would be too great to have someone from her past. She looked down at the ground then back up at him when he lifted her chin.

"Don't worry. I'll come back," he said to her as he stroked her cheek. She nodded to him as she looked into his eyes. "I'm leaving someone here with you."

She watched as he went over to her door and knocked twice. The door opened and Kae saw the man from earlier step into the room. Was he outside all night? "What? Why?"

"Please just trust me Kagome," he said as he come back over to her.

She nodded to him. She didn't know why but she trusted this man with her life. "I do."

"Well please. Let him stay. It is for your protection. You can trust him as you trust me. He'll stay here tonight and I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay," she said as she gave the man a weak smile. "Thank you for staying with him tonight."

"It's no problem Kagome," he said to her and glanced at Inuyasha. Everyone knew Kagome or at least about her and he felt proud to be the one to protect her. He saw the way Inuyasha glanced at him and left the apartment.

As soon as he was gone, Inuyasha pulled Kagome into his arms and a kiss that literally made her knees weak. He had to hold her against him in order to keep her up. When he let her out of the kiss he grinned at the look on her face.

"I'll be back tomorrow," he said and gave her one last kiss before leaving her standing in the middle of her apartment. Kagome stood there shocked not because of the kiss but because of what she had seen in the kiss. She had been pregnant.

Inuyasha walked out of the apartment and saw the men standing out there. It was two of them actually. One would be inside and one would be out. He looked at them with a hardness in his eyes that was not unknown to them and they expected it when it came to their new charge.

"Anything happen to her and I'll kill you myself," he all but growled at the two men and they nodded in understanding. "Good. Call me if she needs me."

Inuyasha surveyed the damage before him and felt like ripping someone's throat out. He looked around the area searching for Miroku and he finally saw the man standing just a few feet away. He made his way over there.

"Hey man," Miroku said in greeting. "I'm sorry."

Inuyasha growled as he turned back to look at the burning building that was once club Kag. It was his favorite club and he'd had it built for Kagome. "You have any idea who did this?"

"No. By the time we got here the building was already burning and whoever started the fire was gone."

"What happened to the guards?" Inuyasha asked as he tugged at his hair.

"Dead. The others no doubt were inside but we found two out back shot in the head."

"Shit the police are gonna have a field day with this one."

As if on cue, Inuyasha heard sirens drawing nearer. He really didn't want to deal with this tonight or any other night for that matter. He hated cops and the cops hated him. He grit his teeth as police chief Matsu Mina stepped out of one of the cars. He looked at the building then over to Inuyasha and grinned slightly.

"Makoto," he said as he walked over to the two men. He looked over Miroku with a raised brow. He'd never seen the two of them together. Then again it was rare for him to see Inuyasha at all.

"Mina," Inuyasha said as he dug in his pocket for a cigarette.

Mina watched him light it and said, "Been doing anymore lighting tonight?"

Inuyasha glanced at him from the corner of his eyes and Mina swallowed. The fire seemed to reflect the gold fury in Inuyasha's eyes and it scared him a little. "And why would I burn my own club?"

"I didn't say that you had," Mina said casually.

"But you implied. Look I'm the victim here and if you're here just to accuse and threaten me then you can go someplace else and pull that stick out of your ass. I'm not interested tonight."

Mina felt anger and cold fury at the man. Tight lipped he looked between Inuyasha and Miroku and at seeing the amusement on Miroku's face he bid them a goodnight and left.

"You really pissed him off," Miroku said with a grin.

"Yeah call it a natural talent," Inuyasha said as he looked over his club. He swore repeatedly. This was his favorite club. Which fucker had the guts to burn it? He turned back to his friend with a fierce frown. "I want you to find the bastard that did this and bring him to me."

Miroku nodded and turned back to the now diminishing fire. He shivered as he thought about what Inuyasha would do that the person who did this. Man that guy had balls.

Kagome didn't sleep much that night. Her mind was working too much to let her sleep. What she saw...was it a memory or was it a vision. She couldn't get over the fact that she'd sensed that she'd been pregnant at one time. What she saw was herself in a doctor's office taking the test and talking to a dark hair girl. She'd seen the girl in a vision before and felt that she was really close to her. Who was she?

Kae rolled over in bed and looked out the window into the dark night. That was how she felt inside. Everything was dark and it was hard to see no matter how much she fought and tried. She could make out nothing. At least she couldn't until Inuyasha came into her life. She hugged her pillow tight as she thought about him. He was not like any other man she'd met before.

He was so handsome and so sure about himself. Kae could feel his strength as if it was a tangible thing but she could also sense his vulnerability underneath it all. When she looked into his eyes she saw such emotion that it almost robbed her of her breath. Inuyasha was a man but a very complex one at that. She looked up at the ceiling and smiled to herself. He was complex but everything felt so simple and so right when she was in his arms.

She knew she'd only known him for that one day but she felt as if she'd known him forever and she just may have. She had a feeling that they had a deeper connection that what he'd admitted to. When she was with him she felt her heart and soul call out to his and his answering in return. She liked what she felt when she was in his presence and wanted to be with him that very moment.

She sat up in bed as she heard a noise from her apartment. Caught up in her earlier thoughts of him she'd assumed it was Inuyasha returning and got out of bed and headed to her bedroom door. Just as she opened the door she was grabbed and pushed back inside the room. She looked up with frightened eyes at the figure knowing instantly this wasn't Inuyasha.

"Hello beautiful," said a deep male voice that made Kae's skin crawl. She immediately tried to get away from him. As she ran around him he lounged at her but she side stepped him. She was about to get away when he grabbed her ankles and pulled her down hard. She hit the floor with a thud and tears sprung to her eyes.

She rolled over and kicked as the man came over her and she managed to get him in the stomach. She rolled over to crawl away but unfortunately the kick didn't stop the man and he was after her again. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her up off the floor.

"Such soft hair. Too bad I'll have to rip it out," he said as he pulled her hair tighter. Kae whimpered in pain. She felt something come over her and she let herself fall into it. She kicked her leg up high and managed to kick the man in the face behind her. She spun around and punched her attacker in the face. He lunged for her again but she back flipped out of his grasp then spun-kicked him to the side of the head. When he was down she took the chance to run out of the room. She tripped over something and fell to the ground.

When she spun around to see what it was she saw it was a body. A dead body. She felt the bile rise to her throat and turned her head away intent on getting away. She screamed as she was grabbed from the ground by her attacker again. He struck her across the face so hard that she felt her lip split and the blood trickled. She scratched his face then and saw as his eyes turned red.

"Bitch you shouldn't have done that," he growled in her face and twisted her arm. With wide eyes Kae did the only thing that came to mind. She screamed for Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was driving down the highway frowning. He was really pissed about the club. He would kill whoever had the fucking balls to burn his club. He flexed his claws on the steering wheel as he thought about how he would gut the person. He grinned menacingly at the thought. It would be just so much fun.

Inuyasha was brought out of those thoughts with the slamming of his heart in his chest. Something was wrong. He could feel something was wrong. He felt fear and felt goose bumps all over his arms. He tuned in all of his senses to the danger and could almost hear Kagome crying out for him in the distance. He growled as he felt his blood boil. The red was dripping into his eyes and he could feel his demon side taking over. Someone was threatening his mate and he would kill them.

Kae spat out blood and scowled up at her captor. The man thought it was funny to just play with her for a while. She backed away from the man as he advanced on her. She was terrified for her life and didn't think she would make tit through the night. The apartment was dark and she had no idea where the men where who were there to protect her. They'd disappeared some time ago and she was all alone to defend herself.

Kae kept walking back and was feeling behind her hopefully for something she could use as a weapon. She saw the look in the man's eyes and knew she was dead. Just as she decided to run she collided into something hard and warm. She'd swear it was a wall if she had not felt the deep growl coming from its chest and heard it directly behind her. She closed her eyes and shivered. She knew it could only be one person. Inuyasha. She was safe.

He was standing in the shadows and the man advancing on her had no way of seeing him. Inuyasha watched and waited as the man got closer and when he did, he stepped out of the shadows. He saw the widened eyes and smirked. Oh this would be good. He'd wrapped one arm around Kagome and with the other hand he reached out and grabbed the man around the neck. He made sure his claws sunk into his neck enough to cause pain and draw blood but not to cause any permanent damage. At least not yet.

Kae watched as the man's eyes widened as he finally realized just how much trouble he was in. A small squeak escaped his throat but it was cut off as Inuyasha added more pressure.

"You made a big mistake," said a voice in a deep menacing growl. It was so animalistic that it frightened even Kagome. She shivered again and the arm around her waist tightened. She felt his breath on the back of her neck and felt a little more comforted for the fact that he was on her side. "How dare you touch my mate?"

Kae soon found herself behind Inuyasha. She had no idea how that happened but she was more than sure she didn't want to see what was going on. Inuyasha kept hold of the man's throat in his hand and took pleasure squeezing and releasing. He wanted to give the man hope that he would be set free before taking it all away from him.

"Who sent you?" Inuyasha asked as he leaned close. The man saw the blood red eyes and blue pupils and almost fainted on the spot. He soon found himself flying through the air and crashed into a wall clear across the room. He didn't waste time on the ground, but scrambled up and tried to run away. It was too late. Inuyasha was already on him. He felt the claws wrap around his neck again. He was flipped over and thrown against the wall again. Gasping he looked at the man before him. He was no ordinary man.

"Who sent you?" Inuyasha asked the man very close to his face. Inuyasha sniffed and smelt fear. He grinned. Good. He liked the scent of fear.

"H-h-." the man stuttered as he looked up at the man with the red eyes.

"I suggest you hurry it up. I'm running out of patience and I'm only going to kill you all the more slow," Inuyasha growled down at him as he tightened his hold on his throat.

"Hit-Hiten. Lord Hiten," the man said with a gasp. He still feared this man and hoped his confession would help him get away.

"Hiten?" Inuyasha asked with confusion. He'd heard of the man but not a lot about him.

"Y-yes."

"Thank you," Inuyasha said with a smile. He let the man go and turned to see Kagome standing there watching with fear in her eyes. He walked towards her and opened his arms to her. Though he still had the animalistic look about him she felt comfort with the fact that he was there for her. She ran into his arms and buried her face in his chest. Inuyasha patted her back and lead her out of the apartment. They'd been almost out the door before Inuyasha was stopped again.

His ear turned in the direction of the man behind him and caught his comment. He'd said it softly but with his keen hearing, Inuyasha heard him call Kagome a bitch. Inuyasha pushed the girl out the door and closed and locked it behind her. He then turned back to the man and grinned. "You couldn't have thought it would be that easy did you?"

Kae stood outside the door with wide eyes. She covered her mouth as she heard the screams of the man inside the room. She heard the fierce growling and could feel the anger Inuyasha was feeling at the moment. She could only imagine what was happening in the room and what she saw in her mind was nothing good. When the screaming stopped, Kae stood silently waiting for something to happen.

When the door opened again she jumped. She was afraid of what would come out. She was relieved when she saw Inuyasha. He looked directly at her, but this time his eyes were not the blood red it had once been. It was the normal golden beauty. He looked at her and the fierce frown he'd once had on his face was gone. He only gave her a sheepish smile and walked up to her. He pulled her into his arms and held her tight.

"I'm not going to lose you again," he said softly as he kissed her hair. "Come on I think we need to get out of here."

Kae didn't say anything. She only nodded and followed behind him. He led her down to his car. She got in and asked no questions as he sped off.

Kae looked around herself in awe. She'd never seen anything so expensive before. She and Inuyasha had arrived to his apartment a few minutes later. He led her inside and showed her around. He shrugged off his jacket and watched as she walked around. He smiled thinking how much he loved having her back in his life. This is where she was supposed to be. This is where they were supposed to be. Together.

Inuyasha frowned as he thought about what had happened earlier that night. Again this shit was happening. For three years all had been quiet and slow but the minute his love came back they were being attacked again. Inuyasha watched Kagome with loving eyes. He had to protect her. He had to protect her and he had to do a better job than he did the last time. He swore on his own life that Kagome Higurashi would live this time and no one was going to change that.

(Help me! Help me! Help me! I'm sorry it took so long to update but I'm having major writer's block. I'm running out of ideas and I'm being swamped and stressed. Thanks to all those who are reviewing still though. I really appreciate the fact that you're still sticking with me and my story.
