Revelations

 

Chapter Two: Treachery

 

 

 

Inuyasha's eyes slowly fluttered open, but his vision was blurred. He could feel nothing but pain burning through his insides. His muscles tensed and sweat dripped down his brow.

 

“Master Inuyasha…are you awake? Can you hear me?” A familiar voice spoke softly in his direction.

 

“I…can hear you, Kaede?” Inuyasha whispered.

 

“Yes, Inuyasha…” Kaede's voice cracked. The villagers found you at the edge of the forest, your wounds are deep. They brought you back to my hut. I bandaged your wounds, but ye will need rest before venturing again. There was no sign of Kagome; did ye send her back to her home time?”

 

“Kagome…” Inuyasha whispered solemnly, as flashes of the incident replayed in his mind. It's my fault, if only I was there to protect her…I need to rescue her, I need to get her back, I need her…I. Inuyasha's mind wandered, but not for long, as the pain from his wounds brought him back into grips with reality.

 

Inuyasha slowly sat up, looking around the dusty hut. The room was dimly lit; the fire pit glowed faintly with only coals. The glow was enough to reflect off of Inuyasha's now silver hair, the night of the new moon was over. Inuyasha's hanyo strength had returned to him.

 

“Kaede…how long have I been asleep…?”

 

“Just a full day, please be careful as to not reopen your wounds, you're not ready to be moving around just yet.” Kaede sighed.

 

Inuyasha looked down at his body to see the many bandages wrapped around his bare chest and shoulder.

“Thank you Kaede…for looking after me…but I have to leave, I have to leave now in order to save Kagome…”

Inuyasha whispered. “It was Naraku that came to the village, Naraku and…Kikyo, they came to take Kagome. They plan on using Kagome to complete the shikon jewel. I don't know when, and I don't know how, but Kikyo has joined forces with Naraku…” Inuyasha growled.

 

“Oh my dear….” Kaede managed to utter. The expression on the old woman's face was strained and wrinkled. How could my sister join forces with the one being that she truly despises…Naraku?

 

Silence filled the room as Inuyasha slowly stood to his feet and began dressing into the robe of the fire rat. He took two steady steps towards the door, and then slid the wooden panel open. Inuyasha looked up at the sky, the sun was setting. His eyes were the color of blood as he looked into the distance. He had revenge painted all over his troubled expression. Inuyasha then peered towards the forest where he had last seen Kagome, Kikyo and Naraku and took off in that direction without uttering another word.

 

I will get revenge Naraku, I will kill you…Inuyasha thought as he felt blades of wet dew grass move beneath his feet. The red robe of the fire rat howled in the wind as he sprinted towards the dark thick forest.

 

Kagome…please wait for me, I'll be there soon…don't be afraid…because I love you.
