Kagome paced back and forth across the dance room floor. It wouldn't be much longer before Inuyasha waltzed through the door he was here every day like clockwork. This was her last chance of the day to talk to him. She might have resolved in first period to talk to him during lunch, but the moment the lunch room doors came into view she chickened out. Unfortunately though the resounding tick of the clock hanging above the mirrored wall was wearing away at her confidence. Once again she made a pass over the lacquered floor.

“Keep pacing and you're gonna wear a hole in the floor.” A gruff voice called from the door.

Spinning on her heel Kagome turned to face Inuyasha who was leaning casually against the wooden door.
“Inuyasha.”

“The one and only. So what's up Kagome? You normally bolt long before I get here at the end of the day.”

“Um… well…”
Kagome nervously chewed her lip as she twisted the bottom hem of her sweater between her fingers.
“You see the thing I've been thinking about what you have been asking me.”

Inuyasha's face lit up instantly. Energetically he pushed away from the door and stepped toward Kagome.
“Are you telling me that you have decided to join my crew? That's great. You have no idea how badly I've wanted you to join. I mean just watching the way you move I can tell how talented you are. I don't believe…”

“Inuyasha wait. I'm not saying yes.”

“What?”
Inuyasha's face suddenly fell and Kagome could have sworn she saw something droop in the mass of silver atop his head. Shoulders slumping he started to turn away.
“Well… I guess I should…”

“Inuyasha I'm not saying no either. I'm just asking you to give me time to consider all the possibilities. The most I can offer you right now is maybe a few pointers from a different perspective.”

“So you're telling me that you are willing to be a consult but you're not willing to dance. May I ask why?”

“No!”
Kagome tightened her arms around her waist and jerked her head to the side.
“And if you do ask you won't even have a consultant. Am I clear?”

“Yes ma'am.”
Inuyasha quickly straightened his stance and offered Kagome a salute with a smirk.
“So Miss Consultant, are you free this afternoon?

“I'm sure I can open my schedule.”

~@*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*@~

“Alright everybody listen up. Now I know we really haven't met up very much so far this year but…”

“Haven't met up much? Mutt-face we've barely seen each other at all. Granted I enjoy the time away from your ugly face, but how are we going to out do that idiots team if you're always canceling practice?”

Inuyasha flipped off the young man who sneered mockingly at him from against the mirrored wall. Receiving the gesture in return he snorted and turned to look at the other people who either leaned against the wall or lay sprawled out on the smooth wooden floor.
“Well we're meeting today and that is because I managed to convince Kagome here to help us out a little bit. Officially she is just here is just here as a consultant to give us a different edge that I know will blow those damn Samyohsho out of the water.”

The youth man from earlier stood and cracked his neck making his long brown top knot swing around over his shoulder. Smirk plastered on his face he moved to stand toe to toe with Inuyasha. His lean arms crossed over his broad chest as he peered at Kagome over Inuyasha's shoulder.
“A consultant, don't get me wrong mutt she's pretty to look at and all but I don't see the point of her being here if she can't dance.”

Kagome curled her lip at his comment. Outraged she pushed herself between the two of them nearly knocking them both to the floor in her trek to the door. Ignoring Inuyasha's pleas to come back and his agitated comment to the other guy she jerked her bag up from the floor and shoved her hand inside. The bag fell to the floor with at thud as she turned on her heel back toward the arguing duo. Stepping in front of Inuyasha once again she smacked a CD case hard against the other boy's chest.
“Track seven.”

The young man looked down at Kagome and smirked, his sapphire eyes twinkling in amusement. Placing his hand over the top of Kagome's his finger tips traced the back of her hand before taking the case. He had to admit she had some spunk and she was a whole hell of a lot cuter up close. Taking the CD from her he went to place it in the stereo and assign the requested track.

A hauntingly slow melody flowed from the stereo and Kagome closed her eyes to listen to the tune. Ten measures into the song the tempo picked up and Kagome tilted her head slightly to the left as her only outward indication of noticing the change. The faster tempo played for another minute before Kagome opened her eyes and moved to the right side of the open dance floor.
“Play it again.”

The music started again and Inuyasha watched from his newly acquired spot against the mirror. A light smile touched his lips as he watched Kagome move fluidly with controlled accuracy through the slow melody. Her movements were light and airy as she arched and extended her body. The tempo of the music increased and Kagome's movements became more angled and heavily punctuated with every down beat. Executing a windmill kick Kagome immediately proceeded into a back handspring and then dropped to her knees before falling backwards lifelessly with her legs tucked beneath her and her head lulled to the side. The music stopped in the same place that Kagome signaled before and Inuyasha turned his head in the direction of the radio.

“So… a consultant huh?”
The young man smiled and stepped toward Kagome.
“I'm Koga. It's a pleasure to have you aboard.”

Kagome looked up at Koga with a questioning look in her eye. Lightly she placed her hand in the one he extended to her to help her from the floor. Once again standing on her feet she moved away from him tilting her head skeptically.
“So what changed your mind?”

“Whoa now, let me apologize before this gets out of hand. I jumped to conclusions and I'm sorry, but in my defense muttface does get in over his head sometimes.”

Kagome rolled her eyes.
“And?”

“And, as much as I hate to admit to this, Inuyasha w...was r...right. You're the edge we need. Right everyone?”

Koga's question got the whole room in an uproar. The echo of the excitement reverberated off the walls around them. Rin came slamming into Kagome nearly knocking her over. Hugging her tightly she whispered into Kagome's ear.

“How did you do that? I barely gave that CD to you at lunch time.”

Kagome turned to Rin and just smiled.

“Kagome!”

Kagome stopped just outside her third period class at the sound of her name. A girl with vibrant red hair flying behind her came running down the hall towards her. She stopped in front of Kagome panting lightly.
“Hey Ayame, what's up?”

“Inuyasha wanted me to tell you that practice is gonna be held a little later than normal.”

“Why?”

“Because he let his temper get the better of him this morning and got himself detention.”

“For what?”

Before Kagome could get the answer she was forcefully knocked off balance from behind. Looking over her shoulder Kagome found someone she was not so disinclined to dislike more and more each day.

“Move it. I have to get to class. And in regards as to why your idiot captain has because he just doesn't know when to leave well enough alone and let us use the dance room. Now thanks to him Naraku has detention with his sorry ass and we have to practice on the muddy field.”

Kagome glared after Kikyo as she made her way to her seat. In the past three weeks since she became the consultant for the Takahashi Demons Kagome learned to dislike Kikyo more than she already did. Apparently the over painted she-devil had betrayed her teammates last year, when she was still paired with the Demons, by providing information and routines to Naraku, head of the Samyosho. And to top that off information and routines weren't the only thing she was providing for Naraku in that time period. Kagome wondered how the bitch would like it if information flowed the other way.

“Ooo, sometimes just sometimes I just like to whap her one.”
Ayame gritted out from between her teeth.

“Yeah me too. Hey listen, I got something I've got to take care of after school. Do me a favor and tell Inuyasha to start practice without me I'll be back as soon as I can.”

“Um… sure okay. I'll do that.”

~@*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*@~

Kagome looked around quickly before she ducked behind the back of the bleachers. She had to make sure nobody else from the team noticed her before she made it to her destination. Ginta and Hakaku had caught her down at the other end of the practice field almost screaming her name. Thankfully nobody was really paying attention since most of the students were in a rush to go home. She managed to escape Koga's hyperactive twin cousins by the sheer stroke of luck. Mr. Playboy himself, called just at that moment demanding they meet him at the front of the school. Sometimes she felt bad for those two but at the same time it was their fault for listening to Koga so willingly.

Focusing back on her task at hand, Kagome quietly made her way under the bleachers and headed towards the middle. Her shoes squished in the mud beneath her feet. She slowed her pace in order to ease up on the noise when Kagome heard the syrupy voice of the witch who threatened to cut her hair off at the beginning of the year.

“Kagura, where the hell is everybody?”

“Well Kikyo and Kaguya are on their way but everybody else is in detention.”

“What the hell for?”

“Naraku got in a fight with Inuyasha this morning.”
The deadpan voice notified Kagome that the girl void of personality was up there too.

“And the others?”

“Well when they tried to get Naraku out of detention they managed to get themselves put in there as well. I didn't get all of the reason why because when I say them they were being pushed into the detention room by a couple of coaches, but apparently they were trying to harass the female teacher that gave Naraku the detention in order to get him out.”

“Smart.”

“Hey look here comes Kikyo and Kaguya.”

Kagome between the opening of the bleachers and saw a pair of ungodly hills ascend the first two rows. Kikyo sat with the others and Kagome listened to them prattle on about menial bullshit. Kagome wasn't sure how long she stood under the bleachers but she knew it had been a while when a phone above her went off and Kikyo squealed with delight.

“Hey the guys are getting out of detention.”

“Finally I don't think I was willing to wait much longer.”
The voice Kagome identified as Kaguya's wined.

“You'd wait all night if we told you to.”
A dark smooth voice retorted to Kaguya's complaint.

“Baby!”
Kagome squeezed her eyes shut at Kikyo's loud tone.

The bleachers protested as the extra weight of five other people was added. Kagome shielded her eyes from the dust that fell from the seats as the people above her shifted around. The conversation over her head kept going but she missed some of it due to the movement. When the group settled the conversation came back loud and clear.

“… Face was fucking priceless when he saw us walk in the door. He wasn't expecting all of us.”

“Yeah tormenting him the whole fucking time defiantly makes up for missing practice. Right Naraku?”

“No.”

“Huh? But I thought you liked…”

“Moron. He has that new `consultant' now or whatever the fuck she is teaching them new things. You saw that yourself when we were watching the other day. That bitch is a dangerous edge for them.”

Kagome frowned at the insult. If she weren't trying to be so secretive about this she'd give that asshole a piece of her mind.

`Either way we have the weekend to make up for it. Come on let's get the fuck out of her and over to Muso's. At least there things could get a little livelier.”

Kagome waited as the people above her stood to leave. She'd wait a little while to make sure they were all gone before leaving to go to the dance room. Suddenly her phone went off and Kagome frantically dug in her pocket to silence it.

“What the fuck is that?”

Desperate Kagome fumbled with the device. Her fingers smoothed over the volume buttons on the side of the phone just as someone fisted their fingers into her hair. Yura's voice rang out shrilly as Kagome got jerked backwards knocking her head into the bleachers.

“Whoever it is I got `em.”

Kagome's eyes filled with terror as all of the Samyosho appeared before her save for one. A pale young man with wavy black hair and piercing red eyes smiled cruelly at her. He took a step closer and curled his slender fingers around a loose lock of Kagome's hair.
“My, my, my I never would have thought that Inuyasha would send his new little toy to gather intel but look what we have here. Tell me sweetheart did you come here to learn something new?”

Kagome jerked away from his searching fingers and glared at him fiercely. He just chuckled at the look in her eyes.

“Come now, you can't be so proud that you refuse to receive some new lessons can you? Here let me teach you. Lesson one.”

The sudden force from the back of his hand hitting her cheek caused Kagome's head to whip violently to the side as she fell to the mud. She brought a hand to her sore cheek as she looked over her shoulder at him. A malicious grin nearly spread ear to ear across his face as he took another step forward.
“Oh and believe me there are more lessons to come.”

~@*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*@~

Inuyasha paced back and forth in front of the mirrored wall of the dance room.
“Where the hell is she Ayame? Practice has been over for an hour and Kagome still hasn't shown up. Sango try her cell phone again.”

“Give it a rest Inuyasha. There are only so many times you can call someone and leave a voice message.

“I don't care god damn it, Try it…”

The doors to the dance room burst open and something was haphazardly thrown at Inuyasha's feet. Two young men who looked almost exactly identical, except for their height, stood at the open door. Their almost light pink hair tumbled down their backs and partially down their face shadowing silver/blue eyes. The shorter of the two spoke.
“The next time you send a spy they'll get worse than what she got.”

The occupants of the room looked to Inuyasha's feet and a few screams were released.
“Fuck. Shit, Kagome.”

Kagome lay barely breathing at Inuyasha's feet. Mud was clumped into the tangles of her hair and smeared across an already bruising cheek. A thin line of blood trickled from a busted lip and down her neck to the torn collar of her shirt and more mud was caked into her clothes.

Inuyasha looked up towards the door to see the two culprits gone already. Looking back down at Kagome he knelt down next to her and scooped her into his arms. Carefully standing he started shouting orders.
“Miroku get the keys out of my bag and bring my car to the back of the building. Rin call Sesshomaru, tell him to have dad meet me at the house. Tell him it is an emergency. Sango call Kagome's house and tell them that you want her to stay over for the weekend or something.”

“What if her mom asks to talk with her?”

“Tell her that Kagome and I went on a food run or something. I don't know just fucking lie, I don't care. Anything but this.”

After stating his demands shifted Kagome enough so her head rested on his shoulder. Carrying her out of the room he navigated to the closest stairwell and slowly descended.
“Just hang in there Kagome. We're going to get help.”
