InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Riches to Rags ❯ Chapter Eight ( Chapter 8 )
Inuyasha woke up when the sun had just begun to rise over the now peaceful village. He felt a trickle of pain in his chest. He pulled away from the dozing Kagome and set his hand upon his chest. He lifted his hand, which was now covered in blood. The scent overwhelmed his senses.
Damn, it must have reopened last night. He rolled over and set his feet onto the cold, wooden floor. He walked over to the chair that was set beside his bed, the bandages sat there. He pulled off the old bandages, seeping in blood and began to clean his wounds. He winced when the alcohol touched the gash.
Kagome was so gentle. He finished cleansing his wounds, not the best job, and began to rewrap them.
He crawled back under the covers and slipped in besides the sleeping girl. He lay by her for hours taking in her scent before she awoken.
Turning around, Kagome looked into the eyes of her lover. He was already awake.
"G'morning," Kagome murmured into the chaste kiss. Inuyasha enclosed her, acknowledging her. Kagome gently pulled away.
"I need a bath," she said already on the floor looking for her discarded kimono, "Why don't you walk with me to the river?"
Inuyasha nodded and threw on a pair of pants. And they walked down out the door and into the morning day.
The trip the river was very long, but Kagome wanted to tell him a few things.
"Inuyasha, do you remember what you told me last night about your parents?" he nodded, "Well my mother was also killed…my father killed her. She was beautiful. I take after her in many ways. They argued a lot, but I never thought it would go so far. Their marriage was not based on love, but an arrangement made before they were even born." Just like Naraku and myself. "They never got along, but I never took much for it. One night I lay in my bed and I heard my mother's sobs coming down the hall. I was frightened, but I couldn't get myself to get out of my bed and see her. I wish I would have. But, that night the sobs ended with a shrill scream. I didn't hear anything after that. I didn't sleep all night. The next morning they found my mother's body, with a knife in her heart. No one blamed my father, but they blamed a `burglar'. But I knew it was him. All clues pointed to him, but they were naive." Kagome ended her story there. She would tell him who her father really was after her bath. She almost slipped up and told him, but she was very careful.
Inuyasha and Kagome walked in silence. The river came into view. I don't know what to say to her. Inuyasha took her hand and they walked to the river.
"You can go now, I just wanted to tell you," Kagome said releasing his hand from her grip.
"Are you sure?" Inuyasha asked.
"You don't need to watch me bathe," she said giggling.
But I want to. Inuyasha thought, but didn't say it out loud. He kissed her and ran off home.
Kagome waited until he was out of her of sight and let her clothes drop to the ground. She settled into the chilly water. She shivered as she swam in the clear water. Fish scattered about. Thoughts swarmed her mind. I'm glad I told him about my mother. I want him to know I'm open with him in all ways. Well…almost all ways, but I am going to tell him that my father is the damn king after my bath is over. Kagome burst through the water and took a deep breath. She floated on top of the water taking in the warm sun. It was a bright and sunny day with only a few fluffy clouds. If I tell him, will he feel the same way? What if he never felt anything at all? What if he just wanted some and I was there. No…because I felt something. A spark…no, more like a flame. But still what if… Kagome ran out of the water pulling on her kimono. I want to know how he feels. The once fluffy clouds began to darken as Kagome ran to her house.
She ran up to the hut and opened the door. She smoothed her wet hair and calmed down her breathing. She went into the kitchen where Inuyasha sat, drinking from a mug.
"How was your bath?" Inuyasha asked thinking of her wet, naked body.
"Good…" Kagome sat down, "Inuyasha about last night."
His ears flattened. She regrets it.
"What did it mean to you?" she asked.
Inuyasha's ears perked up, "Everything, I wouldn't take it back for anything."

Hooves thundered in the village as the rain began to fall. The men on the horses knocked on every door with the same questions.

"Ohh Inuyasha," Kagome sighed.
"So you regret it Kagome?" he asked, his heart thumping wildly against his rib cage waiting for her answer.
She took his hand and let it trace her face frame, "I would never think of it." She reached across the table and their lips connected. It started out as short and sweet, but the kisses grew longer and Kagome slipped her tongue into Inuyasha's mouth. Inuyasha caressed her tongue and Kagome ran her tongue over his fangs liking the sensation. She pulled apart and gazed into his eyes. TELL HIM! Her mind yelled at her.
"Inuyasha, I need to tell you something."
Inuyasha sat up and the dazed look disappeared.
"I am not all who I told you I am…"
A knock interrupted her confession. Inuyasha jerked out of his wooden chair, surprised by the sudden bang. He hadn't heard the intruders coming up to his door. Inuyasha walked to the door and Kagome peeked through the window.
"Hello sir, will you step outside for a moment?" the man asked. Inuyasha looked at Kagome before stepping outside, closing the door behind him.
Kagome kept looking outside the window. She recognized the men that stood outside. She began to shake with fear. The dirt road had a black carriage with Hojo, as the driver. He always drove the carriage for the royal family. Two horses stood alone. Their riders were on the porch having a discussion with Inuyasha. One was Gondor, the commander general of her father's troops. The other man was Herro, the commander. They're here to get me! Kagome started freaking out. She ran down the hall. I can't go, not now! She ran back to the window and looked out. Inuyasha stood on the porch running his hand through his long locks. Dread over took her body as she flopped down to the floor. She missed the image of Inuyasha getting shoved to the side and the two men slamming the door open, cracking it down the center. They didn't have top travel very far in, because Kagome sat right besides the door, leaning against the wall. They yanked her to her feet and dragged her body outside in the pouring rain. She turned her head, looking at Inuyasha, betrayal was in his eyes. She struggled in the strong arms of the men.
"Inuyasha, Please," she cries out as they tossed her body into the carriage. She climbed into the seat and looked out the window, screaming for him. "Inuyasha…I swear I never meant to hurt you. I swear I never meant for this to happen." She sobbed into her hands.
Inuyasha sunk down to his knees in the mud.
She lied to me. He thought.
How could she lie to my face? I don't care.
YES you do. His mind argued.
`No I don't.'
`Yes you do!'
`I can't.'
`Why?'
`I thought I could trust her.'
`You can.'
`I can't.'
`But you love her.'
Inuyasha sprang up and raced after the carriage, but it was racing away.
"KAGOME!" Inuyasha called out.
