Chapter 1

25 years have passed and Sesshoumaru still wanders his lands. He visited Rin only 3 times the whole time, then, she got married by 17 years old and had a baby at 18. Afraid that he would be left with the baby, he stopped seeing them. Jaken was then told to watch over them.

One day, Jaken went to go see the family and he found Rin crying on her bed with her husband Atan. “What is wrong milady?” Jaken asked. Rin wept harder, she was crying so hard she couldn't speak. Atan spoke for her “Our daughter is missing, she has a fever and she has run away! It is my entire fault!” he put his head down and rubbed Rin's back. Jaken gasped then asked “Why is it your fault?”

“I told her she was to marry prince Jintou, I didn't know she was sick until Rin told me. I just wanted to see her married and happy…” Atan answered, he looked as if he was about to cry. “We'll obviously she doesn't want to be married to prince Jintou, for she has run away!” Jaken said then he remembered about her fever. He stated “Oh my goodness, she has a fever, we have to find her and hurry!”

“Rin is to weak from crying to go out and find her, and I cannot leave Rin, and the village is all out on the yearly hunt! We don't know what to do!” Atan spoke. He and Jaken thought a moment then said together “Sesshoumaru!”

“Yes, I will go find Sesshoumaru! He will know what to do!” Jaken announced. Then he ran out of the hut and into the forest.

Half an Hour later, Jaken found Sesshoumaru who was fighting a boar demon that talked back to him. “Lord Sesshoumaru! Lord Sesshoumaru!” Jaken called, running to him. Sesshoumaru turned around to see Jaken trip then quickly get up and run again. “What is it Jaken?” Sesshoumaru asked annoyed. “Can you not see that I am a little busy?” The boar tried to strike Sesshoumaru while his back was turned, but Sesshoumaru quickly used his whip to dislodge the Boar demons head.

“Oh, Lord Sesshoumaru, you gotta help! Rin and Atan's daughter is missing!” Jaken yelled to him. Sesshoumaru turned back to him and said “Why should I care? I will just be stuck with the little burden after I find her”

“Please Sesshoumaru, find her for Rin! The girl has a fever, she shouldn't be out here in the winter, just being out here in the cold will kill her for sure!” Jaken said. Sesshoumaru huffed “Why did she run away in the first place then?” he was getting annoyed. “She didn't want to have an arranged marriage.” Jaken answered. “Well then, that is her parents' fault, I will not go find her and bring her back if she will just run away again. There for, I am no help.” Then Sesshoumaru started walking away.

Suddenly, there came a coughing noise to Sesshoumaru's ears. Sesshoumaru started walking toward it without a thought. As he got nearer and nearer the noise, he could smell the over powering scent of illness. Sesshoumaru pushed open a few bushes to see the girl, who was about 20, laying in the snow, her face pale and sickly looking, her kimono ripped at the bottom, and coughing rapidly.

Jaken ran up behind Sesshoumaru and gasped. “It is the girl!” Jaken ran up to the girl and felt her head. “Her fever is still up even in the cold!” Jaken yelled. “Please Sesshoumaru, you have to help her, you wouldn't let Rin's daughter actually die would you?” Sesshoumaru said nothing, he just turned and started walking away. “Sesshoumaru, PLEASE! Do it for Rin if no one else! If Rin knew you let her only daughter die, she would die of despair herself!” Sesshoumaru stopped walking. He didn't want Rin to be hurt in any way. He turned around, walked to the girl, picked her up then said. “Jaken, go tell Rin and her Husband that their daughter is safe, I shall bring her once she is well.”

“Yes, thank you Sesshoumaru, thank you so much!” Jaken yelled then started off towards the village happily. Sesshoumaru felt the girl move in his arms and he looked down. “W-who are you?” the 20 year old woman asked weakly. “I am the one that is going to help you” Sesshoumaru answered in monotone. The woman just went unconscious after that.

The woman awoke to hear the crackle of a fire. `Warm' she thought happily. She jumped when she heard a powerful and monotone voice say “Finally up, I see. That is to be expected since you have been asleep for 3 days.” She turned around to see an inuyoukai with long beautiful silver hair and purple markings on his hands and face. He also had a crescent moon on his forehead.

“You are Sesshoumaru!” The woman yelled happily, and then started coughing. Sesshoumaru sat next to her and put one of his clawed hands on her forehead. “You are still ill, girl, no yelling” The woman nodded, she was surprised by how warm his hand was and it was making her woozy. “But, you are Sesshoumaru, are you not?” Sesshoumaru nodded. “Obviously, Rin has told you about me.” He said in monotone. “Yes, she has told me everything, all the way up to you not visiting her anymore…why is it that you decided not to visit my mother anymore?”

Sesshoumaru didn't want to tell her that he didn't want to get attached to Rin's daughter who was her, and be asked to take care of her because he lived so long. So he decided to switch subjects. “What is your name, girl?” he asked. “My name is Briana” the woman answered deciding not to take her question any further. “I see” Sesshoumaru said. She certainly looked her name; She had long curly brown hair and beautiful sapphire eyes.

Jaken then came into the cave. “Lord Sesshoumaru, I told Rin and Atan, they said that as long as their daughter was safe, she could stay with you until she is better, but Atan said he would like it if she came back when her illness is gone, he would like to talk to her about prince Jintou.”

“No! I don't want to go back, not ever!” Briana yelled then coughed. “Don't yell” Sesshoumaru said, still in a monotone voice. “You will go back once you are better” he said calmly and stood. “Please Lord Sesshoumaru, don't take me back, I don't want to marry the old and ugly prince Jintou! I would rather be dead.” Sesshoumaru turned to her. “Go to sleep now” was all he said and he walked out of the cave. The 20 year old woman lay back down and tried to sleep more, but she couldn't, she was to afraid that she would be going back home the next day. She had to leave, tonight when no one was looking. She had to make sure she would never return to the village, even if she would miss her mother. Briana wouldn't marry Jintou, ever…..

Kagome's Cat: Yay, the first chapter! What fun!

Kagome: Yes that is very good. Briana seems like a wonderful person.

Briana: I'm right here y'know.

Kagome: Oh, well it is very nice to meet you.

Briana: Nice to meet you too. ::Kagome and Briana giggle:: maybe I can persuade `your cat' to put you more into the story.

Kagome: Why that would be nice

Kagome's Cat: I am right here, I am not deaf. But maybe I could put you more into the story, we will just have to see…
