Chapter 3

Shippo

"That didn't help at all." Kagome said. She had just gotten off the phone. She had called her mom after taking a bath. She had told her how she already made some friends. Her mom thought it was great. Kagome didn't think so. She would have to keep lying to her and she didn't want to do that.

`I guess I should get some sleep.' Kagome thought. She wanted to skip school tomorrow but the missing work would stress her out even more. She also needed to get used to the school. It was a lot bigger than her old one.

She laid down in her bed and went to sleep.

Kagome woke up the next morning to her screeching alarm clock. She got up out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. After taking a shower she got dressed in her uniform grabbed her bag and headed for the donut shop she'd seen on her way home.

After picking up two chocolate donuts she headed toward the school. By the time she got to the school she had already eaten one. She walked to her locker to get out some books. She found Inuyasha there getting some books as well.

"Ohayo Inuyasha." Kagome said as she walked up to him.

"Ohayo Kagome." He blushed. "Did you need to get something out?" He pointed to the locker.

"Hai." She said and took out some books. She remembered the extra donut in her bag. "Here do you want this? I can't eat anymore." She handed it to him.

"Arigato." He took the bag from her. The bell rang for class. "Do you need help with your first class?" He asked her.

"No I remember where it is thanks though." She walked away. Inuyasha watched her go. `She's so beautiful' he thought. Then he realized he was going to be late and ran to his class.

Lunch came quicker than it seemed. The day was going pretty fast for her. The classes she had were teaching stuff she already knew. Except math, she would never understand math no matter how many times she was taught it.

She once again found herself eating with Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha. She told herself last night she wouldn't make any friends. She couldn't help it. Sango was really nice. She felt like they'd been friends for forever. Miroku even though he was a hentai was really funny. And Inuyasha. She didn't know what to say about him. There was something about him that drew him to her.

"So Kagome I'm sorry if I said something wrong yesterday." Sango said.

"What do you mean?" Kagome asked. She had a puzzled look on her face.

"Well after I asked you a question about your parents you suddenly took off." She said.

"It was nothing. I hadn't realized the time until you said something." She lied.

"Are you going to answer the question about your parents?" Miroku asked.

"Well my dad died when I was five from a disease and my mom's great." She said. At least she didn't lie.

"Oh I'm sorry." Miroku said.

"It's ok I wouldn't have said anything if I wasn't ok with it." Kagome smiled. Miroku smiled too.

"So where do you guys want to go today?" Miroku asked.

"How about the mall? Kagome you can come too. We usually do something after school everyday." Sango said.

"I don't know." Kagome said. Who was she kidding? She needed some clothes. She only packed about six outfits when she left. She also needed some other stuff too.

"Come on. You just moved here I'm sure you need some things to buy." Sango said as if reading her mind.

"I guess I do need some new clothes." She said.

"We're stuck watching you shop all day?" Inuyasha said. He wouldn't mind as long as Kagome was there.

"Hai, we're going to the mall." Sango said.

"Don't worry Inuyasha how about I buy you some food while we're there?" Kagome smiled.

Before he could say anything the bell rang. They all threw their garbage away and went to class. "I guess we could all meet at Inuyasha's locker." Sango said. Everyone agreed and went to class.

The rest of the day seemed to fly by. The last bell of the day rang and Kagome jumped out of her seat to go to her locker to meet her new friends to go to the mall. As soon as she got there she opened the locker and threw her stuff in.

She didn't have anything to do last period so she did her homework. She was about to close it when a clawed hand stopped her. She turned around. It was Inuyasha. She stepped out of the way so she could put her things away.

"Everyone ready." Sango asked. She saw everyone nod and shouted, "Let's go to the mall." They all walked off school grounds to the mall. On the way Sango explained to Kagome where the good stores were.

They entered the mall. It was big and there were a lot of people there. Sango dragged her to a clothing store. They had spent about two hours shopping for clothes. Kagome and Sango would try on some outfits and then show the guys.

Inuyasha and Miroku spent half the time drooling. Inuyasha couldn't stop staring at Kagome when she came out of the dressing room. Same thing happened to Miroku with Sango.

After the two hours of shopping for clothes the guys wanted to get something to eat. They decided to eat ramen. Inuyasha's favorite. Kagome and Inuyasha argued over who was going to pay for it.

"I said I'd pay for lunch." Kagome said.

"It's fine I'll pay for it. You spent enough money on clothes." Inuyasha said.

"Look we made you and Miroku run around with us for two hours. The least you can do is let me pay for the food." Kagome smiled sweetly at him. He melted at her smile and nodded because he didn't trust his voice.

Kagome paid for the food. They all sat down at a table and ate. After eating they threw their trash away. The girls asked the guys if they wanted to go anywhere. They stopped at a few stores.

"Kagome?" Someone said from behind the group.

Kagome turned around and instantly recognized the person as Shippo. "Shippo." She shouted. She ran up to him and hugged him. He was a year younger than she was. He used to be her next-door neighbor until she moved.

"When did you get here Kagome?" He asked.

"A while ago. I was wondering when I'd run into you." She said.

"Your mom called and told me about some things. She was going to tell you tonight to come see me." He said. He chose his words carefully. He figured her friends wouldn't know anything about her situation. "Who are your friends?" He asked.

"Oh gomen. This is Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha. Guys this is Shippo. We used to be neighbors until he moved away." They all said hi to each other. Inuyasha didn't say anything. He was jealous that they'd known each other for so long.

Why was he jealous? He'd only met her yesterday and already he was jealous of her childhood friend. He was seriously falling for her. He sighed. He had a feeling things were going to change.

After chatting for a while they found out that Shippo went to a private school a couple of blocks away from their school. It was getting late. Kagome wrote her phone number down and gave it to Shippo and vice versa.

`How am I going to carry all these bags home? Guess I should've thought of that before I bought so much stuff.' She thought. She had at least six bags and they were already putting a strain on her arms from walking around with them earlier.

Inuyasha sensing her distress asked her. "Need some help with your bags?"

"I'll be fine. Don't trouble yourself." She said.

"It's ok. I can walk you home. It's not safe to walk around by yourself at night." He said.

"Well then how did you plan on getting home if it's not safe?" She asked him.

"I could walk home. No one would dare mess with me anyway." He said. Kagome just looked at him. "I could call my brother Sesshomaru to come get me too. Here give me some of the bags."

"Really it's ok don't go out of your way to help me." She said.

"I'm not going out of my way so give me some of the bags." Seeing as how she wouldn't give them to him he took them by force. "Now I'll have to help or you aren't getting your stuff back."

"Fine come on then it's this way." She had no choice but to let him help. He'd manage to snatch all but one bag. They walked to her apartment in silence.

When they got to the apartment Kagome took out her keys and unlocked the door. She let him in. "You can set the bags down next to the door." She said. She walked to the counter and grabbed the phone and handed it to him.

"What's this for?" He asked.

"So you can call your brother. You shouldn't walk home by yourself." She said.

He sighed and dialed his number. Sesshomaru picked up the phone. "Hello." He said.

"Sess I need you to come pick me up." Inuyasha said.

"Inuyasha where are you? Why can't you walk?" He asked. It was unusual to have to pick him from anywhere.

"I'll explain later just come get me." He gave his brother directions to Kagome's house and hung up.

Kagome had put the bags in her room. "Is he coming?" She asked him.

"Hai, he's on his way." He said.

"You can have a seat on the couch." She walked over to it and sat down. She watched as he sat down next to her. "Arigato for helping me even though you didn't have to."

"Like I said no problem." He said.

Kagome turned on the TV to find something to watch. They both sat in silence staring at the TV but not really watching. Ten minutes later a honk was heard from outside. Inuyasha recognized it as his brother's car and stood up.

Kagome thanked him one more time and shut the door. She watched from the window as he got in the car. She sat down and shut off the TV. A couple minutes later she decided to call Shippo.
