Chapter 5

Friday

Kagome heard pounding. She turned down her music. Then she heard it. Someone was knocking on her door. She thought it was strange. Maybe her neighbor was going to complain about the noise. She didn't think it was that loud. She opened the door.

She was shocked to find Inuyasha at her door. She just stood there staring at him. "Umm…hi." Inuyasha said after a while.

"Inuyasha what are you doing here?" She asked.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

"Oh gomen." She opened the door wider so he could step in. "Let me get dressed." She said. She was still wearing her pajamas.

Inuyasha watched as she disappeared into what he assumed to be her bedroom. "Have a seat on the couch I'll be out in a minute." Kagome said from her room.

Inuyasha sat down and waited for her. After a few minutes she came out wearing a white spaghetti strap dress that stopped at her knees. Her hair was up in a ponytail. "What are you here for?" She asked.

Inuyasha shook his head. "I came to see how you were doing, and to give you this." He handed her the cookies he'd bought earlier.

"Arigato." She took the cookies and went into the kitchen. She came out with the plate of cookies and two cups of milk on a tray. She set them down and handed Inuyasha a cup. "Why would you come to check on me?"

"You didn't come to school today and I thought you might be sick or something. I would've called but I don't have your number." He said.

"Oh. I just stayed home because I was feeling stressed. It's nothing to worry about." She smiled. "Where are Sango and Miroku? I figured you'd do something after school like always."

"Sango had a karate lesson and Miroku's parents are coming back from wherever they went." He said.

"Oh that's right his parents travel all the time." Kagome said.

Inuyasha set down his cup and took a deep breath. "Kagome." He said. She looked at him.

"Would…would you like to go to the movies with me on Friday?" He asked.

"Like on a date?" Kagome asked. He nodded. Kagome didn't know what to do. Sure she wanted to go with him but should she risk getting into a relationship. She looked in his eyes. He was scared. Scared that she would reject him. "Hai." She said in a shy voice.

Inuyasha let out a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. "Really?" She nodded. "How about this Friday at six?" He said.

"Sounds great." Kagome said. He got up to leave. Kagome stopped him and wrote her number on a piece of paper. "Here so you don't have to come all the way over to check on me." She smiled.

Inuyasha nodded put the paper in his pocket and waved. As soon as Kagome couldn't see him in the hallway anymore she shut the door. She had a date with Inuyasha. She walked in her room and turned her music back on.

The next day Kagome was back in school. She was asked a whole bunch of questions during lunch. She sighed. She knew they were going to be asked. "Were you sick yesterday?" Sango asked.

"I was feeling stressed so I took the day off." Kagome said.

"How come you lied when I asked if you had a brother?" Sango asked.

"I…I don't want to talk about it?" She said looking away.

"Oh ok you don't have to if you don't want to." Sango smiled. Kagome felt better. "So what should we do today? Tomorrow's Friday and I can't do anything. I have to be home for Kohaku."

"I can't do anything either. My parents are leaving again and they want me to see them off." Miroku said.

"How about we go to that diner?" Kagome said. "Their food was really good." Everyone agreed. The bell rang and lunch was over. Everyone threw away their garbage and went to class.

After school everyone met at Inuyasha and Kagome's locker. After everything was put away they went to the diner.

They all ordered burgers, fries, sodas. They ate their food and talked. They were talking about how they should go somewhere new after school. "I think there's a carnival coming. It should be up and running on Monday. I'll have to check though." Sango said.

"We can go to the carnival then. Let us know Monday and we can go Tuesday, or Wednesday." Miroku said. "Sound good to you guys?" Kagome and Inuyasha both nodded.

Kagome walked into her apartment. She didn't think she'd get much sleep. Tomorrow was Friday. She had a date with Inuyasha. She got into bed and tried to sleep.

Kagome woke up late. She dashed around for her clothes. She hadn't gone to sleep until late last night and so she slept in. The only reason she woke up at all was because there was a car accident outside.

Kagome grabbed her bag and ran outside. She pushed past all the people who were looking at the accident. She shook her head. `Like you won't see it on the news.' She thought.

By the time she got to school Inuyasha was at the locker. She was out of breath. She leaned against the locker taking deep breaths. `I need to work out more.' She thought.

"Late morning?" Inuyasha laughed.

"Ha ha. I couldn't sleep last night and I forgot to set my alarm. And a there was a car crash in front of my building." She said.

"Oh. Are you up for tonight then?" He asked. He blushed slightly. He watched as Kagome nodded. "I'll pick you up at six?" He asked. Once again she nodded. The bell rang and they went to class.

When Kagome went to meet her friends at lunch she found only Sango. "Where are Inuyasha and Miroku?" She asked.

"Miroku didn't come to school today. His parents are leaving so he's spending the day with them. I don't know where Inuyasha is." Sango said. Suddenly Inuyasha popped up beside them.

Kagome and Sango shrieked. They hadn't expected him to do that. "Gomen, I can't eat lunch with you guys today. My paper is due and I still have to type some things up. If I get done before lunch I'll come see ya." He said. He waved and ran off to the library.

"He scared me." Kagome said. They both walked over to the bench and sat down. "So Sango now that the guys are gone." Kagome smiled mischievously.

Sango didn't like that look. "Nani?" She asked.

"You like Miroku don't you?" She said. Sango spit out her drink. "So I was right."

"Actually we've been going out for a while now." Sango said.

"How long has this been going on?" Kagome asked.

"About two weeks. We didn't tell anyone because I made him promise. I'm not sure if he's serious about me. He's such a hentai." Sango said.

"I'm sure he's serious." Kagome said. She shook her head. "Behind my back." She joked. "Don't worry I won't tell anyone."

"Arigato. So what about you and Inuyasha?" Sango asked Kagome. She was giving her the same look Kagome had given her earlier.

"What about me?" Inuyasha said once again popping out of nowhere.

The girls shrieked again. This time they hit him. "Don't do that." They said at the same time. "It's nothing." Sango said. Inuyasha looked at them suspiciously but shrugged it off.

They all talked for a little while until the bell rang. They threw away their garbage and went to class.

After school everyone went their separate ways. Kagome went home. She needed to find something to wear.

A couple hours later and she was dressed. Her hair was in a ponytail with some strands hanging in her face. She had a white tank top sundress on. She didn't put on any makeup. She believed it should be put on for very special occasions.

She heard a knock on the door. She went to go answer it. She opened the door to find Inuyasha standing there with some flowers. He had black dress pants with a red dress shirt on. The shirt wasn't tucked in and he had white lilies in his hands.

"You look beautiful." He said and handed her the flowers. Beautiful was an understatement. Goddess was more like it.

She smiled and took the flowers and let him in. "Arigato. You look good too." She said. She put the flowers in a vase. "Let me grab my purse and coat."

He nodded and watched as she walked in her room. She grabbed her purse and coat. She walked back out in the living room. "Let's go." She said.

They walked outside. "I hope you don't mind walking." Inuyasha asked.

"Nope. I like walking and it's a nice night." She said. They walked to the movie theatre. Inuyasha paid for the tickets and they went to get snacks.

After the movie was over they went out to get some ice cream. They walked to an ice cream stand. Inuyasha had chocolate and Kagome had vanilla. So far the night was great. Kagome saw someone she really didn't want to see.

"Inukurro what are you doing with my woman?"
