Chapter 7

The Carnival

Kagome sat on her living room couch on Sunday. Shippo had already had plans so they couldn't do anything. She would've call Sango but she didn't have her number. `Come to think of it I only have Shippo and mom's number.' She thought.

Kagome took a sip of her tea. She heard the phone rang she picked it up. "Hello."

"Hey Kagome it's Inuyasha."

"Hey."

"Sango called me and told me that the carnival has been in town since yesterday. She wants to know if you want to come. We're all going to meet at the entrance in an hour."

"Hai, Miroku's going too then right?"

"Hai, it'll be you, me, Sango, and Miroku. You can invite Shippo if you want." He said.

"He already has plans."

"So do you want to go?"

"Hai, but I don't know where the carnival is."

"I'll come get you in half an hour and we can walk there."

"Ok."

"I got to get ready. Ja ne."

"Ja ne." Kagome said. She hung up the phone and went to take a shower. After her shower she went to get dressed. `What should I wear? It's a nice day outside.'

She decided to wear a light blue shirt with short shorts. She wouldn't wear the shorts if they weren't the only ones she owned. She couldn't wear a skirt because of the rides and it was too hot for pants. `I need to go shopping again.' She thought.

There was a knock on the door. She ran to the door and opened it. "Hi." Inuyasha said.

"Hi." Kagome blushed. "Come in I just need to finish doing my hair." She walked back into her room.

Inuyasha sat on her couch and waited. She came back out with her hair in a ponytail. "Ok. I'm ready." She said.

"Hai. You look nice today." He said.

"Arigato." She blushed.

They both walked to the carnival. They talked about school. The teacher said a project was going to be given out when they came back to school on Monday. He would assign projects.

"This is the events area. Whenever something like the carnival comes it's usually here." Inuyasha said when they got there. "Miroku, Sango."

"Inuyasha, Kagome I was wondering when you'd get here." Sango said.

"Perhaps they were busy?" Miroku said. "What took you so long?" He asked with a lecherous look in his eye.

"Nothing you lecher." Inuyasha said and hit him.

"Miroku you are such a hentai." Sango said and hit him.

"I was just asking an innocent question." He said. "Why did you hit me Sango?"

"Because." She said. "Come on Kagome lets go." She grabbed her arm and dragged to a ride.

Kagome looked up at the roller coaster Sango wanted to ride. It was high up and had a lot of loops. Kagome's stomach jumped just looking at it. "I don't know Sango. I'm afraid of heights and there are a lot of loops."

"You'll be fine." Sango said.

"Come on you can sit next to me." Inuyasha said.

"You're going to leave me with the hentai?" Sango whined. She looked at him. "Fine come on Miroku."

"I don't know about this I really don't like high places." Kagome said.

"You'll be fine." Inuyasha said. Kagome still didn't like the idea but nodded.

They both got on the ride. As soon as it started moving Kagome latched on to Inuyasha. He didn't mind of course. When they got to the first drop, Kagome screamed. Inuyasha cringed at the loudness of her voice.

She held onto Inuyasha scared she would fall out of the cart. She just kept her eyes closed. She felt a little better when Inuyasha put his arms around her. She had stopped screaming.

When the ride was over she was still scared. Inuyasha carried her out of the cart. She still wouldn't let got of his arm. "Kagome the ride is over." He said when he noticed her eyes were still shut tight.

Kagome opened her eyes and looked around. "Oh." She noticed she was still holding onto Inuyasha. She let go. "Gomen."

"No problem." He said.

"How was it Kagome?" Sango asked.

"It was horrible." Kagome said. "I'm not ever going on a ride like that again."

Sango laughed. "It wasn't that bad." Kagome glared at her. "Ok so maybe it was for you."

"Where do we go next?" Miroku asked.

They spent the whole day walking around. They played games and rode more rides. Now it was dark enough for the carnival lights to come on. Sango wanted to go on the ferris wheel and look around from up there.

"No more heights." Kagome said. "You can go. I'll sit this one out."

"But you can see everything from up there." Sango said. "It will be real pretty." She looked at Kagome with sad droopy eyes.

`I'm too nice.' Kagome started to feel guilty. "I don't know it's really high. Doesn't it stop at the top for a while?" She asked.

"Don't worry I'm sure you'll be ok if Inuyasha rides with you." She said. "You seem calm when he's there."

"But…" She looked at Inuyasha he looked a little hurt. "Ok I'll go but this is the last ride you'll get me on with heights."

Sango laughed. Kagome had said that the last four rides they had went on. "Hai, hai."

They all got on the ferris wheel. Inuyasha and Kagome were in one cart. Miroku and Sango were in the one after them. As soon as they started moving the cart Kagome latched onto Inuyasha.

"You're too nice. You know that?" Inuyasha said.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"You let Sango talk you into getting on all those rides." He said.

Kagome looked up at him. "Well she looked so sad." She said. "I don't like it when people look sad."

Inuyasha watched her lips as she talked. He couldn't get them out of his mind. They were so soft. `Well she doesn't want to be scared right?' He thought.

He leaned down and captured her lips in a gentle kiss. Kagome gasped. Inuyasha smiled and took advantage and deepened the kiss. He growled in satisfaction when she kissed him back.

Kagome broke the kiss for air. Inuyasha started kissed her cheek. Then he moved down to her neck. Kagome gasped as he licked the place where her neck and shoulder met. "Inuyasha." She whispered.

"Kagome." He said.

"Inuyasha the ride is over." She said. Inuyasha looked up people were watching them. Kagome was blushing. He helped her out of the cart. They both waited for Sango and Miroku.

When the door for their cart opened they saw them kissing. Miroku had his hand on Sango's butt. She didn't seem to notice. Inuyasha chuckled. "Oi, Sango, Miroku maybe you should get a room."

They both looked up and blushed bright red. Sango slapped Miroku's hand off her butt and got out. Miroku followed. "How long has this been going on?" Inuyasha asked.

"About two weeks." Miroku said. "Sango made me promise not to tell."

"I know." Sango and Miroku looked at Inuyasha in surprise. "I could smell both of you guys on each other. The scents were stronger than usual. I thought something was going on between you two." Inuyasha explained.

"You can smell something like that?" Kagome asked.

"Hai."

"Kagome!" Someone screamed.

Kagome turned around. It was Shippo. "Shippo, what are you doing here? I thought you were busy with something."

Shippo was bent over. He was trying to catch his breath. He looked at everyone. "Umm can I talk to you in private?" He asked.

"Hold on a minute guys." She said. Her and Shippo walked away. "How far do we need to go?"

"Inuyasha will be able to hear us if we're that close. He's and Inu youkai. Even if he is half he still has good hearing." They walked a little further. They could still see Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku. They looked over at them.

"I smelt Naraku earlier and I came to tell you to watch out." He whispered in her ear.

Kagome froze. He couldn't know where she was. They told everyone she was in America. "Are you sure?" she asked with worry in her voice.

"Hai. I didn't see him but I definitely know it was him. He has a scent you can never forget."

"Arigato Shippo." She said. "I should go home then."

"Don't worry I smelt him half way across town. You should be fine. I doubt he knows you're here."

"I guess." Kagome said. She walked back to her friends. She was still worried. Just because he was half way across town didn't mean anything. He was always able to get to far away places in an instant.

"What did he want to talk to you about?" Sango asked.

"Nothing it was nothing." Kagome smiled. Inuyasha could tell it wasn't `nothing.' He could see right through that smile. "I should go. It's getting late. Besides we all have school tomorrow."

Sango looked at her watch. "You're right. See you in school tomorrow." She waved. Miroku waved and left with Sango.

"Come on I'll walk you home." Inuyasha said.

"You don't have to." Kagome said.

"I want to."

"Arigato." They walked towards Kagome's apartment. Kagome was still worried. She was glad Shippo was here to tell her about Naraku. Maybe he was there for one of his trips? He always left town a lot.

When they got to her apartment Kagome unlocked the door. "Are you ok?" Inuyasha asked.

"I'm fine. Thanks for walking me home. I'll see you in school tomorrow." Kagome said.

Inuyasha leaned down and kissed her. "See you tomorrow." He walked away.

Kagome blushed. She walked into her room and changed into her pajamas. She walked into the living room. Maybe she should call her mom and see if anything happened. She was worried about her grandpa.

She would visit him but her mom told her to stay put. They couldn't risk her being seen by anyone. Almost everyone that lived around them knew her. Kagome picked up the phone and called her mom.
