Chapter 10

Naraku Appears

Kagome woke up with a headache. She felt really warm though. `I should've known this would happen after not using my powers for a while.' She opened her eyes and saw silver.

She got up really fast. Bad idea. Now the room was spinning. Suddenly arms pulled her back onto the bed. She looked at who it was. Inuyasha. Wait. Inuyasha. "What are you doing in my bed?" Kagome asked.

"You fell asleep on the train and wouldn't wake up. You were having a bad dream and I didn't want to leave you alone." He said.

"Oh you didn't have to do that but thank you." She said.

"Anytime." He said. He laid back down. "Are you going to tell me about what happened yesterday?" He asked with concern in his eyes.

"Well… What time is it?" Kagome screamed. "We're going to be late for school." She yelled and started looking for her clothes.

Inuyasha got up. "I guess I should go home to get dressed for school." He grabbed Kagome and kissed her. Kagome gasped. He deepened the kiss. "Don't think you'll get away without an explanation." He walked out of her apartment.

Kagome stood there for a couple of minutes. "School." She shouted and dashed into the bathroom. After taking a shower and getting dressed she took some medicine for her headache. She started feeling a little dizzy.

She looked at the clock. She was really late. Probably no point in going to school but if she left now she could still make it to the class she had with her friends. They needed to start working on the project.

Kagome ran to the school. She stood outside the door and caught her breath. She opened the door and walked in. "Gomen I didn't mean…to…be…late."

She saw a sight she'd been afraid to see. Naraku was standing right in front of her. He was probably being introduced to the class. He smirked at her. "Hello Kagome."

Kagome saw black. She fell to the ground. Everyone looked at her. Inuyasha jumped out of his chair and picked Kagome up. "I'll take her to the nurse's office." He ran out of the class.

Naraku stood there watching as he took Kagome to the health center. `This could prove to be interesting.' Naraku thought. He finally found `his' Kagome. He sat down in his seat.

Kagome woke up. Her head hurt badly. She was dizzy and she wasn't even standing up. Naraku, she saw him. Maybe she was hallucinating. "Kagome are you ok?" She looked to her right.

Inuyasha was sitting next to her bed. The nurse walked in. "Oh, you're awake. Lets take your temperature." She said.

After a minute she took out the thermometer. "Oh dear you have a fever. You should go home and get some rest. I'll call your house and have your mom pick you up."

"No, my mom is…" She couldn't think of anything to tell her.

"Her mom is out of town. I can take her home." Inuyasha said.

"I'm not supposed to let you do that. Since her parents are out of town I'll make an exception. You have to call your guardian though." The nurse said.

Inuyasha nodded and went to call Sesshomaru. "Hello." Sesshomaru said.

"I need a ride." Inuyasha said.

"Can't even say hi?"

"Quit messing around I need a ride. Kagome has a fever."

"Fine I'll be there in about five minutes." Sesshomaru said and hung up the phone.

Kagome had fallen back asleep again. Inuyasha waited for his brother to come. Just like he said five minutes later he walked through the door.

Inuyasha was going to pick Kagome up but stopped. "Give me your coat." He told Sesshomaru.

"Why?" He asked.

"Kagome's got a fever you want her to get any worse by walking outside with just her uniform on?" Inuyasha yelled.

"Fine." He took off his coat and threw it at him. Inuyasha wrapped Kagome in it and carried her to Sesshomaru's car.

Sesshomaru drove to their house instead of Kagome's apartment. Inuyasha hadn't noticed until he stepped out of the car. "What are we doing here?" He asked.

"It's better this way so if you need something you'll know where it is." Sesshomaru said. Inuyasha hated to admit it but he was right. They both walked into the house.

Inuyasha ran upstairs to his room and laid Kagome down in his bed. He took off Sesshomaru's coat and covered her in a blanket. He had no idea what he was doing. He'd never had a cold before. `Maybe Sess knows something?'

Inuyasha as much as he hated to leave Kagome alone went downstairs to talk to his brother. He was sitting down at the kitchen table. Inuyasha sat down. "What do you know about fevers?" he asked and handed him his coat.

"Give her some medicine and have her drink lots of water." He said.

"That's it?"

"That's all I know."

"How do you even know that much you've never been sick."

"Common sense. You better run to the store and buy some medicine."

"Can't you do it? I don't want to leave her alone."

"I'm sure five minutes of being away won't kill you."

Inuyasha glared at him and ran to the store at the end of the street. "Cold hearted bastard."

Kagome woke up and looked around. `Where the hell am I?' she thought. She got out of the bed and walked downstairs to see if anyone was there. She walked into one of the rooms. `If I can find the kitchen and get some water I can get rid of this fever.'

"I take it you're Kagome?"

Kagome jumped. She didn't know anyone was there. "Hai. Do you mind telling me where I am and why I'm here?"

"I'm Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's brother. He brought you here because you have a fever. You shouldn't be up."

"Where is Inuyasha?"

"He went to the store to get some medicine." He said. He watched as she stood there. She looked like she wanted to ask a question. "Did you need something?"

"Do you have some water? If it's not to much trouble." She said.

"That's it?" He got up and went to the refrigerator and took out a bottle of water. He handed it to her and sat back down. "Have a seat my brother should be home soon."

Kagome sat down. She drank the whole bottle of water. Her throat was dry. She put a hand to her forehead thinking he wasn't paying attention and used her miko powers to cool her fever.

"I didn't know miko's could do that." Sesshomaru said.

"Not all miko's can."

"I've heard only the strongest miko's can do something like that."

"I'm not very strong. I just happen to know how to do it." She said. "Arigato for letting me come to your house. I don't mean to be a bother or anything."

"It's fine." Sesshomaru said. "Inuyasha would have just bitched about it until I did something."

Inuyasha ran into the kitchen to get some water for Kagome. He stopped when he saw her sitting at the table talking to Sesshomaru. "Hi." Kagome said.

"What are you doing out of bed?" He asked. "You're sick and should be laying down."

"She's not sick anymore." Sesshomaru said.

"How do you know?"

"Check her temperature if you don't believe me. She could down her fever with her miko energy."

"You did? You can do stuff like that?" Inuyasha asked. Kagome nodded.

"Only the strongest of miko's can do stuff like that." Sesshomaru said.

"I'm not a good miko." Kagome said.

Inuyasha walked over to Kagome. "We need to talk." He said. "Do you want to stay here or go to your apartment?"

"I'd rather go to my apartment. I wouldn't want to bother you guys more than I already have." Kagome said. She stood up. "Arigato Sesshomaru."

"Don't worry about it." He said. They both walked out of the house and to Kagome's apartment. They were both silent. Kagome didn't know what to tell him. She wasn't ready to tell him anything.

"Maybe we should go back to school." Kagome said. "We still need to get our project done and all my stuff is at school."

"We don't have that many classes left." Inuyasha said.

"We could at least work in the class we have a project in. We should be able to make it to that class. We have lunch right now." Kagome said.

"Fine." They turned around and headed toward the school. He knew she was trying to avoid their little talk. He wouldn't let her get away with it.

When they got to the school Kagome went to her classroom and apologized to her teacher and grabbed her stuff. As soon as they walked out of the classroom the bell rang. They walked to their class.

"Where were you guys at lunch?" Sango asked.

"Kagome felt sick so I helped her." Inuyasha said. The bell rang for class to begin. The teacher let them split off into their work groups. Kagome and Inuyasha looked through some of the books Kagome had.

After about ten minutes the teacher stopped them. "I would like to introduce a new student that will be joining our class." He said. "Come in."

The student walked into her class. "Class this is Naraku. He just moved here from Kyoto. We are working on a project right now so I'll assign you to work with Kanna and Kagura."

Kagome was shocked. How did he find her? She didn't know what to do. What could she do? "I'm sorry Inuyasha." She grabbed her stuff and ran out of the classroom.
