Chapter 19

Secrets and Lies

Kagome was bored. She'd been sitting in front of the TV for about two hours now. Boredom was hitting her hard. What could she do? She couldn't go outside. Everyone was at school right now.

She had nothing in her room. Then she remembered Sesshomaru had a library. Maybe she could borrow a book or something. She walked to the elevator and waited for the doors to open.

When she got to Sesshomaru's office door she knocked twice. "Come in." He said. Kagome walked into the office and stopped in front of his desk. "Did you need something?" He asked.

"Well I was wondering if I could borrow a book or something. I've been watching TV for the last two hours and there's nothing on." Kagome said.

"Go ahead. There are lots to choose from." He said.

"Arigato." She said. She looked through the many shelves of books. She finally found one. "I'll bring it back when I'm done. Thanks." She walked out of his office.

She sat on her bed and started reading the book. After a while she started feeling like something was a bit off. She felt like something was coming. She couldn't tell what it was.

She ran to Sesshomaru's office and quickly knocked on the door. "Come in." He said.

Kagome opened the door and shut it as fast as she could. She leaned against the door panting. "Is something wrong?" Sesshomaru asked.

"I just got this really weird feeling and it's kind of creeping me out." Kagome said. "I'm sorry."

"If it will make you feel better you can sit in here and read." He said.

"Arigato." She said. She sat down in the chair in front of his desk and started reading again. The feeling wouldn't go away.

Suddenly Sesshomaru got up and grabbed Kagome and went to the other side of the room. "What…" She was cut off by something being thrown through the window that was directly behind the desk.

If Sesshomaru hadn't grabbed Kagome, the ball probably would have hit her. The ball was purple and about the size of a softball. They just stared at it.

After a couple of seconds the ball opened up and shot needles everywhere. A purple mist came flowing out of the ball. Kagome covered her face and screamed when some of the needles hit her.

Sesshomaru had gotten hit with some of the needles. He didn't need to worry about it because the wounds would be healed within an hour. He hadn't even realized what was happening until she screamed.

He might have been able to prevent the needles from hitting her if he had an idea of what was happening. "Are you ok?" He asked her.

"I think so." Kagome said. She started looking at the cuts that were everwhere. They were on her arms, legs, and face. "Are you ok?"

"Hai." He said. He walked over to the window and looked to see if he could find out who threw the ball. All he saw were people walking around looking up to see what happened.

"What was that?" Kagome asked.

"I don't know." Sesshomaru said. "I don't know who would have done it either."

Kagome tried to heal her wounds but couldn't. Nothing was happening. What was that stuff? Why couldn't she heal her wounds?

"What's wrong?" He asked. He could see the distress on her face.

"I can't heal my wounds." She said. She watched as the blood ran down her arms and legs.

"What could prevent you from doing that?" Sesshomaru asked. "Are your powers not working?"

Kagome pushed her energy into her finger and it glowed bright blue. "No they're working." She said.

"I'll get some bandages sent up here." He said. "Why don't you go back to your room."

Kagome nodded and walked to the elevator. When she got to her room she jumped in the shower. She wanted to wash as much blood off of her as she could. She put another dress on since the one she was wearing was ruined.

When she walked out Sesshomaru was sitting on the bed with a first aid kit. "Here." He said and handed her the box. "Do you need any help?"

"No, I can do it. You've done enough." She smiled. "Your office is messed up though."

"I already called a someone for it." He said. "He should be arriving shortly. I just have to try and find out who did it. Do you have any ideas"

"No, but I guess that was what I was feeling." She said. Kagome bandaged herself up. She looked like a mummy. She had band-aids all over her face and multiple bandages wrapped around her arms and legs.

"Until Inuyasha gets back I suggest you stay in my other office." Sesshomaru said.

"You have another office?" She asked.

"I have the whole floor myself. Most of the rooms are doubled." He said.

"Oh, arigato." She said. She followed him to the other office.

When she got there it was like looking at the same office. Everything was exactly the same as the other one. It was a perfect duplicate. The only difference was the couch near the desk.

"You can sit on the couch." He said.

Kagome walked to the couch and sat down. She was feeling tired. She laid down on it and fell asleep. Sesshomaru sat at the desk and worked on his computer.

Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sango saw a big crowd near Sesshomaru's hotel. "What's going on?" Sango asked.

"Maybe everyone's checking in?" Miroku said.

"I don't think there would be that many people." Inuyasha said. He noticed everyone was looking up. He jumped over the crowd and ran into the building after seeing what everyone was staring at.

"What was that all about?" Miroku asked.

"Up there." Sango pointed. The window was broken and people were trying to fix it. She grabbed Miroku and made their way into the building.

Inuyasha didn't even bother to use the elevator. He ran up the stairs as fast as he could. What the hell happened? Who broke the window? He ran in the room that had the broken window.

No one was there but the workers. He calmed himself down enough so he could smell Kagome and Sesshomaru's scent. He followed into the room next door. Kicking the door down he ran in.

"Where's Kagome?" He yelled at Sesshomaru.

"Well if you calmed yourself down you would know she's sleeping on the couch next to me." He said. "Although she might not be sleeping now."

Inuyasha ran over to the couch. He saw Kagome wrapped in bandages. He rubbed her cheek. "What the hell happened?"

Sesshomaru was about to answer when Sango and Miroku ran into the room. "Is everyone ok?" Miroku asked. Him and Sango were panting. They took the stairs. They were too impatient to wait for the elevator.

"As good as can be." Sesshomaru said.

Sango and Miroku walked over to Inuyasha. They couldn't see Kagome. As they walked closer she started coming into view. Sango gasped as she saw her wrapped in bandages. "What happened?" She asked.

"I was going to answer that before you came in." Sesshomaru said. "Someone threw a ball in here. It opened and needles shot out of it along with a purple mist."

"Do you know who did it?" Miroku asked.

"No." He said. "Kagome should've been able to heal herself. Something prevented her from doing it."

"Are her powers working?" Sango asked.

"Hai." He said.

"What did the mist do?" Miroku asked.

"Nothing." Sesshomaru said. "I believe that was what caused her healing to fail."

"Do you think it was Naraku?" Sango asked. "The school said he transferred back to his old school."

"Why would he attack her?" Miroku asked.

"I don't know." Sango said. "Maybe it was someone else."

"Who else would do something like that?" Miroku asked.

"Sesshomaru don't you have rivals that go to extreme measures to take you out?" Inuyasha asked. He remembered one time a rival sent him threats.

"Hai." Sesshomaru said. "That still doesn't explain why Kagome couldn't heal herself."

"Maybe it was Naraku." Sango said.

"Wouldn't he just take Kagome again?" Miroku said.

"Not unless he's planning something." Inuyasha said.

"We better be on our guards then." Miroku said.

"I'll have security keep an eye out for anything suspicious." Sesshomaru said. "Why don't you take her to your room."

Inuyasha nodded and picked Kagome up bridal style. He walked to the elevator and stepped in when the doors opened. Sango and Miroku were right behind him.

He walked into his room and set Kagome on the bed. Sango and Miroku walked in the room and sat on the other bed. "What do you think Naraku is planning?" Miroku asked.

"I don't know." Inuyasha said.

"What are we going to do?" Sango asked.

"We can't do anything until he attacks or something." Inuyasha said. "We don't know anything about him."

"What if it's not him?" Miroku said.

"It had to be. Who else knows about Kagome being a miko?" Sango said.

"You're right. They deliberately made it so she couldn't heal herself." Miroku said.

"I don't know. I don't want Kagome finding out about this. Don't tell her it was Naraku." Inuyasha said.

"She'll get mad when she finds out your keeping this from her." Sango said.

"I'll deal with it when the time comes." He said. "Right now she's got enough to worry about. We'll find out what Naraku is planning without her knowing."

"I just hope she's ok." Sango said. "Those cuts look pretty bad."

"I'm sure she'll be fine." Miroku said. "I'm going to go get some food for us all."

"I'll go to. I'm sure she'll be hungry when she wakes up." Sango said. Her and Miroku both left the room.

Inuyasha laid down on the bed next to Kagome. "I couldn't protect you." He whispered into her hair. He was pissed he couldn't be there. `Damn school.' He thought. `Maybe now Sesshomaru would let him stay home.

If it was Naraku who did this to Kagome then that means he knows where Kagome is. Should they go somewhere else? Would Naraku find them if they left again? He supposedly went back to his old school. Inuyasha didn't think that's what he did.

A half an hour later Sango and Miroku knocked on Inuyasha and Kagome's room. Inuyasha let them in and they ate. They all waited for Kagome to wake up. Miroku was looking for something on TV to watch.

Kagome finally woke up. Her body hurt. She opened her eyes and sat up. "Itai." She said. That little movement hurt.

"Kagome are you all right?" Inuyasha yelled. Him, Miroku, and Sango hugged Kagome.

"I'm not trying to be mean but you guys are hurting me." She said.

"Gomen." They all said at the same time. They were so happy to see she was fine they forgot about her injuries.

"It's ok." Kagome said. "I'm fine, I just got cut a little."

"A little?" Inuyasha said. "You look like a damn mummy."

"You're making me feel a lot better Inuyasha." She said sarcastically.

"Kagome are you hungry?" Sango asked. "We brought some food."

"Hai." Kagome said. "Did anyone find who did this?"

"No." Inuyasha said. He moved to sit behind her so she could eat. He wrapped his arms around her waist. He listened for any signs of pain or discomfort. Hearing none he buried his face in her hair.

"So what did you guys do in school?" Kagome asked.

Read and Review. Sorry it took so long to update. Damn finals. Anyways I got a review saying that I made Kagome ditzy after a while. I don't see how I did but if you could tell me that would be great. I don't know how it happened. If you want me to change it let me know. Ja ne.
