Chapter 31

Sango's Hurt

Kagome was so bored. She'd been reading since her friends had left for school. That was a couple of hours ago. She was lounging in Sesshomaru's office trying to think of something to do. Nothing came to mind.

"I'll be right back Kagome. There's a package for you downstairs." Sesshomaru said and he left the room.

Kagome was scared. The last time she opened a package something bad happened to Shippo and Miroku. She didn't want to open it but knew she had to. Even though she had to it didn't mean she was going to like it.

When Sesshomaru got back he handed her the box. He wanted to know what was in it. The workers downstairs hadn't seen anyone drop it off. It just appeared on the front desk with Kagome's name on it.

Kagome hesitated in opening the package. When she finally had it open she looked inside. There was a coat on the top. She took it out and looked at it. It was plain looking and black. Looking in the box again she saw another doll.

The doll looked like Sango. From what has happened so far the doll meant that Sango was the next target. She didn't know what to do. Sango was in school now. Sesshomaru had seen what was in it and looked at the clock. She wouldn't be out of school for a couple of hours.

"This means Sango is next doesn't it?" Kagome whispered. She just stared at the doll.

"I don't know but we need to do something." Sesshomaru said.

"They're in school. Do you think something would happen during then?" Kagome asked.

"I'm not sure." Sesshomaru said. He lifted the box and sure enough on the inside was the spider mark that was in the other boxes. He tossed the box across the room and tried to think of what to do.

"Maybe we could call the school?" Kagome said.

"That might work." Sesshomaru said. He walked to his desk to make the call. "I wonder what the jacket is for?"

"I don't know." Kagome said.

It was lunchtime and Sango had forgotten her wallet in her locker. She told Miroku and Inuyasha that she would meet them at the bench after she got her lunch. She was walking down the hallway to the lunchroom when Kagura stopped her.

"Oh Sango, Miroku and Inuyasha wanted me to tell you to meet them on the football field. They said something about already having your lunch." She said.

"Thanks." Sango said. She turned around and headed for the field. She didn't know why they would want to meet her there because they had always eaten at the bench. She also didn't understand why they would get her food if she had already told them she was going to get some.

She walked over to the benches by the field and looked around. Miroku and Inuyasha weren't anywhere to be found. `What the hell is going on?' She wondered.

"You're friends aren't coming."

Sango turned around to find someone standing in the middle of the field. "Kagura! What's going on?"

Kagura said nothing but drew a fan from her purse. She flicked it open and glared at her. "I'm just helping someone out." Kagura yelled. She released her attack at Sango.

Sango saw flashes of light heading toward and her instincts told her to move the hell out of the way so she did. When she looked to see what damage was done she was glad she jumped out of the way.

The bleachers were completely wiped away. There was metal everywhere. "Why are you doing this Kagura?" Sango asked. From what she'd understood nothing bad ever happened between them.

"I told you earlier I'm helping someone out." She said. Kagura stood and concentrated on her wind. Once again she released her attack.

Sango was able to dodge most of the attacks but one was able to hit her in her back. She fell to the ground. The last thing she saw before falling unconscious was Kagura flying away on a feather and something sprinkling over everything.

As Sango laid on the ground people started gathering around. They had heard the bleachers get ruined and wondered what was going on. Inuyasha had heard the bleachers bend and him and Miroku were at the field.

"Sango." Miroku said. He could see her laying on the ground. He ran to her to make sure she was ok.

"She looks pretty bad." Inuyasha said. "We need to get her to a hospital."

One of the students had ran to the office to tell the principal what happened. The principal had called an ambulance once he'd seen Sango. Miroku and Inuyasha went to the hospital with her.

Sesshomaru had just gotten off the phone with the school. He was told about what happened and that Sango was on her way to the nearest hospital. "They are taking Sango to the hospital." Sesshomaru said.

"What?" Kagome asked.

"Something happened and she was injured. I'll call a car to take us there." Sesshomaru said.

"It'll take too long." Kagome said. She ran out of the office and down the stairs. She was not in the mood to be patient.

Sesshomaru called a car to take him to the hospital. From what he knew of Kagome, she wouldn't stop until she got to the hospital.

Kagome was out of the building and hadn't stopped running. Sure she was winded but she wasn't going to stop. She was too worried about Sango. She wasn't even paying attention to cars that were passing by. She ignored the honking and kept going.

She was running through the park when she felt a bad presence in front of her. She waited for it to show itself. From the air a girl jumped off of a feather. Kagome recognized her from her class but never learned her name.

"Hello Kagome." She said. "I know we haven't met but it won't matter once your dead."

"What are you talking about?" Kagome yelled.

"It's nothing. I just want you dead." Kagura said. "I'm sure you're probably on your way to visit your friend in the hospital. Am I right?"

"Who are you?" Kagome asked.

"I'm Kagura. I know your friend Sango." She smiled.

"You're the one who hurt her aren't you?" Kagome's hands fisted at her side. "What did you do to her?"

"Why don't you see for yourself if you make it alive." Kagura screamed. "Fuujin no Mai."

Kagome created a shield and dodged the wind attacks. She had to think of something to do. `She can create wind.' Kagome thought. She tried to run but Kagura was able to hit her.

Kagome was knocked down. Before she could do anything Kagura created a wind tunnel that surrounded her. Kagome's body was being cut up before she realized what was happening.

She quickly threw up a barrier and the wind tunnel disappeared. "Good job miko. But I'm not done with you yet." Kagura laughed.

Kagome knew she was in trouble. She had run all the way over to the park and had used most of her energy in doing so. She wouldn't last much longer against Kagura. She shot a blast of energy at Kagura.

Kagura grasped her shoulder and fell to the ground. Suddenly a black cloud appeared next to her. "N-Naraku-sama!" She said.

`No it couldn't be him.' Kagome thought. She scooted away from them until she was backed up to a tree.

"I told you what you were supposed to do. This was not it." Naraku said. He smiled at Kagome. "I'll be back soon." He picked up Kagura and stepped through the black cloud. It shrank away until it disappeared.

Kagome stood trying to regain her breath. Naraku was just there. She couldn't believe it. She just got up and ran towards the hospital as fast as she could with the wounds she had. She didn't want to risk Naraku coming back.

Miroku and Inuyasha were in the waiting room when Sesshomaru walked in. "What the hell are you doing here?" Inuyasha yelled.

"I heard about Sango. Where's Kagome?" Sesshomaru asked.

"What do you mean where's Kagome?" Inuyasha asked. "She's supposed to be with you."

"She ran off as soon as she heard about Sango." Sesshomaru said.

"What!" Inuyasha yelled. "You let her run away?"

"Inuyasha calm down. You know how Kagome gets." Miroku said. "You can't blame Sesshomaru for it. She runs when she wants to."

Inuyasha just growled. Then where the hell was she if she wasn't with Sesshomaru? Just as he'd finished that thought he caught Kagome's scent. "She's here." He said. He sniffed the air. "She's bleeding."

Miroku watched as he ran out of the waiting room. He just shook his head and waited for any news on Sango. "So how did you find out about Sango?" Miroku asked Sesshomaru.

"Well Kagome got another package." Sesshomaru said. "It had a doll of Sango and a coat in it."

"A coat?" Miroku asked. Sesshomaru nodded.

Kagome had barely taken a step inside the hospital when she was swept into someone's arms. "Itai." Kagome said. She was still injured.

"Gomen." Inuyasha said. He let go. "What the hell happened?"

"Inuyasha?" Kagome said. "What happened to Sango?" She ignored him.

"We haven't heard anything from the doctors yet." Inuyasha said. "Now tell me what the hell happened to you."

"I was attacked by Kagura on my way over here. I..." She said.

"What? You what?" Inuyasha asked.

"I saw Naraku." Kagome said quietly.

"WHAT?" He yelled. Everyone around him stopped what they were doing and looked at him.
