This story is mine, but the character's in it aren't, they belong to Rumiko Takahashi, so please don't sue me...I don't have anything to get anyways, I don't even have no money! I'm in debt and with no way to pay it off for a while, so at best you'd get some socks, a shirt and maybe some shoes and pants, but that's about it. And I doubt you'd want those...anyways, on with the chappie. Please R&R!

Chapter 1: The Dream

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~Sango's Dream~
Sango was sitting down in a meadow picking some flowers. She looked up when she heard someone calling her name. She stood up and looked to the voice, and saw her brother.
<*Kohaku...is alright?*> Sango was confused as to how he could be there. Maybe he had broken Naraku's mind control and had come searching for her.
Kohaku was running towards Sango, carrying Kirara in his arms and a large smile on his face, still calling out to her.
Sango called out to her brother, but nothing came out. She opened her mouth to call to him again, but her mouth froze. Her voice was paralyzed, she couldn't say a thing!
The sky turned slowly from a gentle blue to a deep black. All the flowers around her started to die, and she recognized the mist of Naraku's miasma starting to form. She wanted to move towards Kohaku, but her body refused to listen and stayed where it was.
She looked back to where Kohaku was. Despite the fact that he was running towards her, he seemed to be getting farther away from her. He kept getting farther away until Sango could no longer see her brother or Kirara. Despair filled her. She knew that she had lost her brother yet again to Naraku, and she would never see him again. At least, not alive, anyways. Naraku was using a jewel shard to keep her brother alive, and Naraku would eventually take the shard out and end Kohaku's life.
Before Sango's grief could completely overwhelm her, she felt a pair of strong yet gentle arms circle around her waist. Sango tensed immediately at this, shocked and wondering who had grabbed her. There was a scent from this person that she thought was slightly familiar...it smelled like lavender. This new smell made her feel at ease in this stranger's arms. She started to turn her head to the right to look over her shoulder. When her head had moved enough for her to see who it was, the first thing that caught her eye was a green sash with two white stripes on the edge, that looked oddly familiar, that was draped around this person's neck and shoulders. She looked up into the face of the person who was holding her.
Kagome's smiling face stared back into Sango's eyes, and she moved to rest her head on Sango's shoulders. Kagome opened her eyes and looked at Sango, then she opened her mouth to speak.
"Don't worry, Sango-chan. We'll find Kohaku and figure out a way to save him from Naraku." Kagome said as she tightened her grip around Sango's waist. Sango moved to rest her own hands on Kagome's, and turned her head to face forwards.
"Arigato, Kagome-chan." Sango told her, closing her eyes.
"Anything for you, Sango-chan. I'll help you any and every way I can." Kagome answered.
Sango smiled, glad that her friend offered her help so willingly.
What happened next surprised the young slayer. She felt Kagome's lips brush lightly against her cheek first, then moved down and brushed against her neck. Sango felt Kagome's arms start to rotate her so that she would be facing the younger miko.
<*What's she doing? Why can't I control my body?*>
Sango felt her own arms reach up and circle around Kagome's neck, while Kagome's arms stayed wrapped around the slayers' waist.
<*What am I doing? Why am I doing this?*> Sango thought wildly as her face came closer to Kagome's.
She felt her eyes close, but she knew what would come next. She was about to kiss someone else...a girl, no less. She had always wondered what her first kiss would be like, but the thought that it would be with another girl had never crossed her mind before.
Before the two girls' lips could meet, Sango's eyes shot open and she cried out.
She could see that she was no longer standing in the field holding Kagome. She was lying on a mat in the hut the boys had found the night before, her purple kimono draped over her. She remembered now, Kagome and her had arrived on Kirara the previous evening. Kagome and Kirara had carried Sango into the hut, after Kagome had detangled herself from the sleeping slayers' arms, and had placed her down gently on a mat to treat her injuries. Kagome had forced the boys out of the hut so that she could take care of Sango. As soon as they had left, Kagome removed Sango's battered and bloody kimono in order to get better access to her wounds.
Sango had slept through it almost the entire time, waking up only at the end. Kagome was looking for something else she could use to keep Sango warm, since her pink kimono had been torn by Kohaku's attacks and soaked with bits of Sango's blood. Sango had shown her where to find her other kimono, an exact copy of her first, only it was purple instead of pink.
At the moment, Sango was sitting up, looking over at Kagome, seeing the other girl stir in her sleep before rolling over to face Sango. She wondered what dreams may be passing through the young mikos' mind at the moment.
What Sango didn't know, was that Kagome had been sharing Sango's dream with her. While Sango was dreaming, Kagome had sensed her distress and had used her power to invade Sango's dream in order to comfort her friend. Only Kagome only thought she was dreaming of helping her friend, she had no idea that she had actually gone into and had shared the same dream with Sango, instead of it being her own dream.
Kagome shifted around on her side for a few seconds before finally waking. She blinked a few times, wondering what the dream could have meant. She looked over to where Sango was sleeping, only to see her sitting up and breathing heavily, holding her right hand over her chest.
"Sango-chan, what's wrong? Why are you up?" Kagome asked worriedly, untangling herself from her sleeping bag so that she could go sit next to her friend and find out what was wrong.
"Kagome...chan?" Sango asked weakly.
"Hai, what's the matter? Are you alright?" she asked as she kneeled down next to her friend, finally free of the sleeping bag. She was grateful that Shippou had been with Inuyasha that night, instead of sleeping with her.
"I'm not sure...I just...that dream seemed so real." Sango said, thinking back to the few intiimate moments she had shared with Kagome before she woke up.
Although she wasn't planning on telling Kagome any of that, she didn't want to scare her or anything.
"It was about Naraku, and your little brother, wasn't it?" Kagome asked cautiously. She didn't want Sango to be more upset, but she didn't want to touch any sensitive subjects either.
Sango only nodded in response. Technically, that was what the dream was mainly about, but the only part that worried her was her little exchange with Kagome at the end.
Kagome sensed that there was something more to it, but didn't press her for details. "Don't worry, Sango-chan, everything will be ok, you're among friends now." Kagome said, placing her hand on the slayers' shoulder. "You still have Kirara, and I doubt that she'd leave you, and neither will Shippou. I will never leave you either, Sango-chan, you mean a lot to me." Kagome told her, only realizing what she had just said sounded like. She quickly added, "The same is true for Miroku-sama and Inuyasha."
Sango caught Kagome's slip, and how she tried to cover it up.
"Arigato, Kagome-chan. I don't know what I'd do without you here. You've been helping me a lot, and it's always nice to have another girl around." Sango laughed lightly, "I don't know what I'd do if Hoshi-sama out there or Inuyasha had to tend to my injuries."
"I know what you mean, Sango-chan." Kagome giggled. "Miroku-sama would probably be out cold for a few days if he tried to dress your wounds. He'd be too busy trying to feel you up instead of actually trying to bandage your injuries." Kagome told her, her voice started out with fun, but when it came to Miroku, her voice came out with a bit of anger and...
~*Jealousy? Why would I be jealous of Miroku-sama groping Sango-chan?*~ Kagome thought, confused.
~*And why have I been catching myself staring at Sango-chan when we go to the hot springs? What's wrong with me, am I becoming a hentai like Miroku?*~
Kagome was confused as to why she was acting this way. She quickly decided to change to subject of conversation between her and Sango to distract her mind, quickly telling Sango that she had an odd dream before she woke up as well.
"So you had an odd dream too, Kagome-chan? I hope it was a bit more cheerful than mine was." Sango said
"Actually, Sango-chan...it was kind of about you, mostly." Kagome said and looked away to avoid Sango's gaze, glad that the hut was so dark in the night. The darkness hid the blush that was flashing wildly across Kagome's face.
The darkness also stopped Kagome from seeing Sango's head shoot up and look at Kagome. Kagome also missed the look of complete shock and surprise on Sango's face.
<*She was dreaming...of me?*> Sango thought to herself, trying to quickly erase the surprised look from her face before Kagome could turn back and see it.
When Kagome turned back, Sango had her emotions back under control, and looked at Kagome with interest.
"Sango-chan, what did you dream about? Was it anything that made you upset, or sad?" Kagome asked suddenly.
Sango was surprised at this, but answered yes anyways.
"I thought so. I don't remember much of what I was dreaming about at first, but I remember that it was disrupted by something. I think that I could sense your distress, or that you were having a bad time. I only remember once I felt that, I saw you appear standing in front of me, facing away. I felt bad that something was causing you such unhappiness that I felt I had to do something to comfort you somehow."
Sango hid her surprise very well, but it was hard. This was starting to sound like her dream. Kagome continued.
"I walked up behind you and hugged you. I told you that we'd find you're brother and free him from Naraku. Remember, I can purify jewel shards, and if I can purify the jewel shard in Kohaku's back, then it will purge the shard of Naraku's evil and maybe even free Kohaku from Naraku's control!" Kagome said excitedly. She purposefully left out the last couple moments of her dream, where things between her and Sango had gotten quite personal between the two of them.
Sango knew that Kagome was leaving something out, but she didn't think that she was ready to know what it was yet. She was excited at the news that they might be able to save her brother from Naraku.
"Arigato, Kagome-chan. I'm feeling much better now."
The two girls leaned in the share a quick hug.
"It's no problem at all Sango-chan. You know I'd do anything to help you, all you have to do is ask."
"Of course, Kagome-chan. I will." Sango told her, releasing her friend and laying back down on the mat.
Kagome pulled Sango's kimono up to cover her. Then she did something that neither girl expected. Kagome leaned down and kissed Sango on the forehead.
Both girls blushed at this display of affection, and Kagome quickly tried to think of something to excuse it.
"You should sleep now. Let's just hope that will ward off any more bad dreams you might have." Kagome said as she turned away quickly and crawled back to her sleeping bag, unaware that she was giving Sango a good view of her panties, as her skirt had hitched a bit high on her rear.
Sango watched her the whole time, blushing but not wanting to look away.
Kagome never noticed Sango's eyes watch her as she settled in to go to sleep.
<*Gods, what is going on with me? I was staring after her like Hoshi-sama would...staring at her underwear without even saying a thing, just admiring the view...WOAH WOAH! What am I saying? Am I attracted to Kagome-chan?*> Sango thought to herself. <* It WOULD explain how I've been acting around her lately. Watching her in the hot springs...holding her so tightly on Kirara last night, burying me face in her breasts...that dream...wow. I guess I am attracted to her.*>
That thought made her think even more about Kagome.
<*Does she feel the same way, though? She did say she dreamt about comforting me. There was definitely something else in there she didn't want to say. Maybe she actually DID get in my dream, and that was what both of us really wanted...that WOULD explain why she kissed me like that...that excuse did seem kind of desperate. I wonder if she actually knew or not whether her skirt was pulled up like that, and if she was teasing me or something...I'll have to ask her about it at the next hot springs we get to.*>
Sango then realizes that wouldn't be the best of ideas.
<*If we do confront what might be going on between us at a hot spring somewhere soon, we'd both be naked, and if our lust for each other took over...oi, that might be a problem. Maybe I'll just try and get alone with her sometime soon. Maybe we can send the boyson an errand soon, and have them take Shippou with them. Then we can finally figure out what's going on here.*>
At the same time, Kagome was also thinking of what she was going to do.
~*Oh gods, now what am I going to do?? I atually kissed her! I didn't mean to do that...did I? Well, we almost did in that dream, but that was just a dream, right?*~
Kagome sighed, wondering how she was going to explain what she felt to Sango.
~*Maybe I can talk to her at some hot spr...no, we'd be naked then, I wouldn't feel comfortable. Maybe we could go searching for those herbs together...oh wait, Inuyasha already said that he was going no matter what. Well...maybe I can get Miroku to go with him, because Miroku does know a little bit about medicinal herbs. I know that he's tagged along with me and Kaede before when she was showing me some herbal remedies and how to use them. He usually only does that when Sango's hit him more than three or four times...damn lecher. Oh well, at least he hasn't touched me at all lately. But that's mainly because he's afraid of what Inuyasha would do. Oh well. I'll ask them to go out for the herb so that me and Sango could be alone, and I can tell her what's going on with me. Oh wait, what about Shippou? The little guy will never want to leave me alone, especially if we send both Inuyasha AND Miroku on this errand...wait. Maybe we can tell them to go on ahead of us and we'll meet them back at Kaede's village. We can always take Kirara, and have some time to ourselves in Kaede's hut, as long as no one walks in on us...or maybe we could get it out of the way before we go back to Kaede's village. Yeah, I think that will work out just fine.*~ Kagome thought sleepily, closing her eyes and surrendering to sleep.
