InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ School for the Bad ❯ Her Fault ( Chapter 3 )
They found a cave and had basically not talked to the opposite sex since they got there.
"Kagome it's not fair." Sango stormed as she paced back and forth. "I should have let you blow up your damn house! I saved your mother just so she could send you to your death. And my brother is with my parents who for all I know are going to do the same thing to him."
"They won't, Kohaku such a good kid, and Souta is too that's why I'm not worried about them." Kagome said looking to the side. She had been sitting there for a good half hour listening to Sango let everything out, but she needed to so Kagome listened.
"I can't believe that our parents paid for our deaths. I mean we might be pains, but to go as far as killing us to get rid of us. They could have sent us to boarding school for the money they paid to have us killed." Sango said sitting down.
"They probably thought at least they would be paying for something useful." Kagome said. She knew it was mean and blunt, but it was probably the truth.
Sango nodded sadly leaning back, "That explains why Kohaku was so sad this morning."
"Yeah and why Souta was last night and this morning. Souta should have told me I would have gotten both of us out of there." Kagome said more to herself then to anyone else.
"Kagome it's getting late by the looks of it, and I'm tired, so I'm going to bed." Sango said walking back a little father, and then laying down.
"Miroku she'll kill you." Inuyasha said to his friends back. That was the first time Kagome realized he was there, sure she knew he was, but she didn't pay attention to him. Inuyasha looked up at her and then stood up and walked over to her. "Hey, so how you holding up?"
"Fine." Kagome said leaning back at a useless attempt to relax.
"You shouldn't be so tense." Inuyasha said sitting beside her his back up against the wall.
"This is the first time since I was ten that I didn't know what to do next. I feel so useless at the moment and it bugs me to death." Kagome said in a low growl.
Inuyasha looked at her some what understanding. "Relax a little we'll figure out what to do in the morning." Inuyasha said standing up and walking to the front of the cave.
Kagome looked after him. He walked totally out of the cave, and she stood up and walked after him.
"Nosy girl." Inuyasha said dropping down from the top of the cave and hugging her from behind.
"I was tired of sitting there. Sue me for walking around." Kagome said trying to move away. Her miko powers hadn't completely settled and he wasn't helping.
"Calm down miko wench, I'm not going to hurt you." Inuyasha said nipping at her ear. He could feel her power it seemed to spike now and then, most likely do to a wild imagination of how she could be hurt.
"Just let me go." Kagome said sternly. He let her go and she took a step away from him, but kept her back to him. "Thank you. I'm going for a walk I'll be back in about a half hour." Kagome said as she started walking away.
Inuyasha walked back into the cave and sat down. About an hour later Kagome came running in, her arm bleeding. Inuyasha jumped up and ran over to her saying, "Are you ok?" Taking a closer look he saw that her eyes were shinning from unshed tears. He put his hand on her back and lead her over to where he was sitting. "Let me see your arm."
Kagome let him take her arm from where she was holding it. Inuyasha moved her sleeve up and looked at it. "You should be ok…" Inuyasha leaned down and licked her wound. It stung for a second then felt better.
"They have no hearts…." Kagome said it so low Inuyasha almost missed it. Inuyasha looked at her, she had lowered her head and he couldn't see her eyes because of her bangs, and he desided that he would ask later, but she looked up at him tears rolling down her cheeks and said, "They just killed them without a second thought." Her head went back down and she started shaking from trying to stop crying all at once, "They were so young, they didn't deserve it. I saw them when I got on the bus, they were nice little kids. The most they ever did by my guess was get a detention or two." Kagome looked up at him again shaking more then before. "They didn't deserve it Inuyasha! I couldn't save them either! I should have died, not them! Inuyasha it's my fault they're dead I couldn't save them!"
Inuyasha pulled her into a hug. He couldn't stand it those people murdered those kids, and she felt responsible, all because she couldn't save them. "Shhh…Kagome it's not your fault."
"Inuyasha it is my fault." Kagome sobbed hugging him.
"Don't you dare say that, Kagome." Inuyasha growled. Kagome whimpered she wanted say something. He could tell. "Kagome you say one more fucking word suggesting that you're responsible I'll…I'll…" Inuyasha couldn't threaten her she was so upset, so he pulled her closer, and then let her go. Kagome was sitting beside him but moved closer.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome asked sitting on her knees, she was still shaking though her crying wasn't as hard. When he looked at her she went on, "Can you hold me?"
Inuyasha looked at her and nodded opening his arms. Kagome crawled onto his lap, and looked at him like a little kid wanting to know how to sit in a chair properly, only she wanted to know how to sit in his lap. Inuyasha moved her so she was facing him, and moved her legs on either side of him, so she was stradling his waist. "There." Inuyasha said simply, putting his arms around her and scooting down a little so she wasn't sitting up while she tried to sleep. Kagome laied her head on his chest and slowly fell asleep.
