The group was now sitting in Kaede's office while Kaede was calling their parents and other relatives, and so far they didn't exist.

 

“I don't know what to say to this…” Kaede said as she put the phone down. “Everybody I just called, that you said were related to, said they had never heard of you and for the girls they said they only had one child.”

 

“I'm not surprised.” Inuyasha said leaning back in his chair.

 

“And why may I ask is that?” Kaede asked looking at him.

 

“I'm a half demon, and my half brother is the boss of a big company he doesn't need me to mess up his reputation.” Inuyasha said letting the chair fall forward so it was sitting on all the legs again.

 

“I see.” Kaede said sitting at her desk in front of them, “but what about the rest of you.”

 

“Our parents think we're a disgrace by being punks.” Sango said motioning to Kagome.

 

“Why have a bad kid when you can try again with the younger ones.” Kagome said looking around the office then back at Kaede.

 

“And my parent's just don't like me.” Miroku said shaking his head.

 

“I don't know why my parents don't want me.” Shippo said with his head facing the ground.

 

Kagome looked over at Shippo sympathetically, thinking, that must hurt not knowing why you were sent away to be killed…at least the rest of us know why we're sitting in this office.

 

“Well unless we can get some evidence that you exist it's going to be pretty hard to convict your parents, and Inuyasha's half brother.” Kaede said with a sigh.

 

“Well if I know Sesshomaru he's gotten rid of everything on the face of the earth that proves that I was born.” Inuyasha said standing up and stretching.

 

“Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked looking up at Inuyasha.

 

“Yeah, he's my half brother.” Inuyasha said turning around and looking at Kagome.

 

“My mom said that's who gave her the idea to make me go to the school, and my mom gave Sango's parents the name of the school they went out to dinner with one of their co-worker's because they were having problems with their little kit.” Kagome said now piecing these thing's together.

 

“Kit?” Sango asked looking at Kagome.

 

“They were fox demons…” Kagome said looking at Shippo. “I guess all our parents and Inuyasha's half brother all knew each other…”

 

“Well then we've all been wiped off the face of the planet, because it doesn't take a genius to figure out how Miroku got here.” Inuyasha said sitting back down running his claws threw his hair. “And I now just noticed that I've lost my hat.”

 

“Well we can always look for you're birth certificates from the hospital's that you were born in, but if Inuyasha's right you guy's are in some trouble.” Kaede said standing up. “Let's have some lunch before we do anything else.”

 

“I think our lives our a little bit more important then your stomach old woman.” Inuyasha said following her.

 

“Inuyasha give it up, the rest of us are hungry.” Kagome said from beside him, with Shippo holding her hand.

 

“Fine.” Inuyasha said as they all walked across the street to a little café.

 

They all took a seat at a booth and were given menu's.

 

“So you haven't gotten any kids like us?” Miroku asked putting down his menu.

 

“No I can't say we have. The last kid we got in there about your guy's age was lost on a camping trip and his parents came and got him two hours later.” Kaede said as she to put down her menu.

 

“So what are you going to do if it turns out we don't have any identities besides what we say?” Sango asked still looking threw the menu.

 

“I'm not too sure about that.” Kaede said looking at Kagome who was helping Shippo decide what to eat.

 

“Can I take your orders?” A young girl asked stopping all conversation.

 

Lunch went by quietly with some small talk just to be polite. After they had all eaten they walked back to the station with Shippo jumping around, because of the three glasses of chocolate milk, making Kagome spin around.

 

“I told you after that second glass we should have cut him off.” Inuyasha said as Shippo finally jumped into Kaede's office.

 

“Well next time we'll know not to now won't we Inuyasha, and besides you were the one chanting chug, chug, chug.” Kagome said with a mock disapproving look at him.

 

“If you could all calm down for a few minutes and tell me the hospitals you were born at.” Kaede said with a smile. At least they weren't completely depressing looking.

 

They all told Kaede, and Kagome and Inuyasha took Shippo for a walk seeing as they were the two most responsible for the hyper-ness of Shippo.

 

“Shippo don't touch anything.” Inuyasha said looking at the kid in front of them as he looked in the offices saying hi to people.

 

“Ok Inuyasha.” Shippo said slowing down when he saw how far behind they were.

 

“See he listens to you.” Kagome said looking at Inuyasha threw the side of her eye.

 

“That's because he knows that now is not the time to make me mad, if this was a normal day and we were just going to the mall we'd be running after him.” Inuyasha said looking at Shippo, as he came running back to them, and pointing in front of them. Inuyasha looked up to see the so called teacher he and Kagome had when they first got there.

 

“Inuyasha let's go…” Kagome said grabbing Shippo's hand. “Let's go tell Kaede now.” She continued grabbing Inuyasha's hand with her free hand.

 

“Ok.” Inuyasha said turning around and letting Kagome lead him and Shippo back to Kaede's though she had let go of his hand.

 

“Kaede they're here.” Inuyasha said as he walked in.

 

Kaede stood up and let Inuyasha lead her to him. Miroku and Sango stayed with Shippo, and Kagome came with Inuyasha.

 

“There's two of them, they ran away from the group.” The “teacher” said as they walked up to him and another “teacher.”

 

“Sir I'm afraid that these kid's will not becoming with you.” Kaede said stepping in front of the two.

 

“But I'm in charge of them.” He said looking at the two.

 

“In charge of our deaths maybe.” Inuyasha growled.

 

“Inuyasha temper you know I would never hurt you or Kagome.” He said looking between the two then back at Kaede saying, “Oh sorry, I'm Ken Lenten.”

 

“Mr. Lenten, would you mind telling me how four teenagers, and a child got away from you?” Kaede asked looking at him suspiciously.

 

“They are troublemaker's ma'am I wouldn't be surprised that they have come up with this scam.” Ken said with a smile.

 

Kagome stood there clenching and unclenching her fist to stop from jumping the man and trying to kill him. Inuyasha put his hand on her shoulder trying to calm her down.

 

“Mr. Lenten, they don't seem like to bad of kid's seeing as I just spent the good part of two hours with them, and they don't seem to be in any files anywhere.” Kaede said calmly.

 

“They told you the wrong things, plain and simple. I'm sorry but you can't keep them, at the moment I'm the one in charge of them.” Ken said getting impatient.

 

“Do you have some proof that this is true? Also these kids said that you attempted to kill them, I'm not going to allow you to take them anyway.” Kaede said looking at him.

 

“I don't know what these kids have told you, but I can assure you it isn't true.” Ken said moving towards them.

 

“Sir if you move any closer I'll be forced to arrest you right now.” Kaede said moving her hand to her holster.

 

“Forced to arrest him, you should do that anyway.” Inuyasha said from behind her.

 

“I don't have to stand for this, I'm leaving.” Ken said turning and walking out the door.

 

“Kaede, how could you just let that man go?!” Kagome asked.

 

“How convincing are you going to be in court? You don't exist according to any government files. We have no proof, and I can't do anything but what the law allows me to do.” Kaede said turning to them.

 

“Then what are you going to do with five people that don't seemingly exist?” Miroku said from behind his friends with Sango and Shippo behind him.

 

“I'm going to call a friend of mine, and he'll take care of you.” Kaede said looking between all of them. “You'll be getting jobs where you'll be able to stop what happened to you from happening to anyone else; a job where not existing will be part of it.”

 

“What about Shippo?” Kagome said looking down at the kid.

 

“He'll start training and he'll be part of it too.” Kaede said walking back to her office. “You all have something that will help you through this. You're going to be working for the darker part of government where rules don't apply.”

 

“So basically we're going to be assassins for the government.” Inuyasha said bluntly.

 

“Basically.” Kaede said picking up the phone.
