Chapter 11: Scents

No introduction, let's head straight to the plot.

Disclaimer: I do not own none of Inuko's unrepeatable works. Let God hear me and inspire me into producing a manga as good as hers… * sigh *

The warmness kept coming upwards, encircling her waist and pressing against her ribs. Something lean and hard pressed at her back, some elastic cloth trapping her ankle. Trying to release herself of whatever was restraining her moves she was forced back to her original position when a pang of pain extended trough her scalp, her hair was imprisoned by something and she couldn't run lose. Turning to the side she encountered nose to nose with a sound asleep Koharu that hold her hair under his arm. His other hand was firmly pressed flat against her stomach and his legs held one of hers. How in all fucking hells could she have gotten into this mess she had no idea. Not remembering nothing of the previous night she supposed she had fallen asleep after eating onto the cushions and he had brought her to this huge bed that could behold five people almost. Stretching delicately trying not to awake him she retrieved her hair and slipped to the side. He had his kimono's upper part still hanging from the obi, his chest in display for her eyes to roam. She felt curious about him, he was the first male of another youkai raze she had ever met. She inched closer, her face close to his. He smelled somewhat different than yesterday, more exciting. Of course, no cat youkai smelled as good as any inu youkai but his scent was nice, she wondered how she smelt to him. Sniffing one more time, she started to back away when his hand caught her once more and pulled her on top of him. She yelped, astounded to make any other sound.

“Good morning, pup”

“Ah… Good morning” she pushed him backwards and he let go.

“Today I had planned for you to visit my village. You may dress and then we shall leave” She was sitting at the side of the bed, her legs dangling to the side, her hair disheveled and her ears perched upward. So lovely, so pure, he wanted to push her into the mattress and take that from her.

“I want to go finding my pack. I want to try searching them in the woods.” Her words were like a bucket of cold water on him. Not even dreaming would he let her go.

“There's no chance of you find them roaming the woods on your own. Aloud me to lead the search while you stay safe in my place, they have being looking for them since you arrived.”

“I want to be with my brother!! I miss them all so much!”

“I see, you will leave as soon as I arrange some things”

He was visibly irritated with her. She couldn't see why, it was his fault they had ended like this. He had started that stupid fight, got her unconscious and kidnapped and after that allowed some lunatic cat girl to start a quarrel at his house. Leaving the room he left her to ponder on the matter. He had being quite cocky at the beginning but now he seemed sweet and attentive.

She felt a jolt of recognition, a stray breeze of air brought to her nose the small scent of Shippo. Was he nearby? How could Koharu's men hadn't seen him?

Leaping out of the cabin, she crouched following the smell. The garden was deserted, some orange fish swan in the pond connected with the stony ground by wooden bridges of curvy archs. She jumped into a tree, perching at the branch and seeking in the distance. Yes, the scent came from that direction. It was not difficult to go jumping form branch to branch as she had seen Inuyasha do so many times, when the trees ran out she got hold onto the big houses roofs. Not to far now, to the right? To the left?

Definitely to the left. A small hut partly covered by a large oak and with only one window seemed to be the center of both Shippo's scent and her mononoke's aura. The window had big bars to prevent anything to go out or come in. The door was secured by a large lock and guarded by a cat youkai dressed in Koharu's colors.

`The bastard had them here all along!' anger arose in her. Summoning all her strength she lunged forward and knocked the man to the side, his head hitting hard against the wall. Ripping the door with her bare hands she didn't stop before coming inside.

Shippo lay there dirty and asleep guarded by Kuro. The awful smell of humidity clenching all around and making her dizzy, old incense sprayed in the air revolving her stomach.

“Oh My God!”

“Inuko!” the shout awoke Shippo too. He jumped and clutched to her neck with considerable strength for such a little creature.

“I'm so sorry, Shippo-chan! Kuro! I'm sorry!”

“It's okay Inuko. We are okay”

“I was very afraid of all of those neko youkai's but Kuro told me you woud come for us!!!” Shippo sobbed in her arms.

“I'll always come for you, Shippo-chan, you're my little nephew, remember?”

“Hai!”

“Now, let's get out of here! Kuro, can you fly?”

“No, I don't have the strength… excuse me”

“It's my fault. I'll get you out of here” she pulled Shippo under her kimono, his head peeking upwards looking around in case the guards came. “Silently, let's run to the forest”

She moved first, achieving to get away from the cabin. Kuro followed her head almost touching the floor, hiding in the shadows and watching her back constantly. How could she had been so stupid as to believe Koharu? She had fallen into his trap blind eyed. Inuko felt a pang of remorse, she had being so comfortable while little Shippo probably hadn't even got any food.

“So, love, you found them finally”

Koharu's voice reached her ears send a goosebump down her spine.

“I made a mistake in placing them so close to you. Your senses are way too good to be fooled by incense and such.”

“You filthy asshole! You lied to me! You had them in there all the time! When were you planning to tell me?”

“In due time. Now everything has gotten more difficult for them, and for you, of course. I can't let you go, you see.”

Wasting no time, she launched towards the closest man and flipping to the side, cached his arm and send him flying toward the hut. Another one tried to grab her by the hair, but resisting the pain she got loose and slashed his chest open. The blood died her finger and dripped from her claws. She spared the youkai only one look before facing the one closer.

“It's no good, Inuko-chan. We are too many.”

“What have I ever done to you?! Why are you doing this?!”

“You are too special to be released and allowed to run free without someone controlling your fiery nature. I want you for myself, and so you will be or no one else's.”

“I don't belong to anyone, less of all to you! I thought you were really nice after all you gave me and how kind you were, even though you had kidnapped me and fought me…”
She clutched her heart in one hand. It hurt so deeply, the betrayal of someone she thought her friend.

Making a sign he positioned guards all around them. They separated Inuko from Kuro, spikes pointed at her. Inuko knew in her state the mononoke wasn't even at her 40 %. She had no choice against so many men.

Koharu came closer to her. Kuro crouched ready to jump but Inuko stopped her with her hand, placing Shippo on the floor.

“What will you do, pup? Surrender? Yield to me?”

“I'll fight you”

He smirked, He had expected no less form her. A good fight, the best he had known could be about to begin.

“Let them go back to my pack. None of your men will try to stop them.” Her cold glare flared red in the edges. Her green eyes were beginning to fade into a burning scarlet, like a crimson tide erupting over an emerald grass field.

“You know I can say no, and you won't have a chance against them.”

“If I fight you and I loose, I'll surrender and do as you want. Allow them to go, now.” She didn't want them near when she finally let loose her power, things would get nasty and she couldn't prevent any of what was about to unleash. Having never used her full strength before, she was a little scared but she wouldn't allow herself to yield to Koharu. The one to win in a fight against her would be the one to mate her, but she didn't have that in her future plans just yet.

“It is a bargain if I get you to stay here with me, doll.”

The men retreated and Kuro got closer to Inuko.

“Kuro, do your best and take Shippo to Inuyasha, if I loose, he'll be the only one to defeat Koharu. Bring him back, I count on you”

“Yes” Shippo climbed Kuro's back effortlessly.

“Shippo-chan, hold tight” Kuro flew towards the exit, her tail on fire going further and further away by the second. Inuko's heart clenched, she couldn't defeat Koharu and she knew that but at least they had gone away.

“Inuko, you know you don't have to fight me. We were good as we were before, right? Just come to me.”

“Never. You liar.”

“Fine, you want it hard on you, I'll have no mercy.”

“Neither will I”

Inuko could feel the rush again, this time empowered by her rage. Her sight was getting more accurate, bloody corners itching into her view. Her fingers curled into claw position, her arms lifting and her legs crouching ready to lunge her forward.

Koharu admired her. His desired crept when her angered features focused again on him. His men retreated, they were no match for her and they knew it. Knew so well he didn't even had to tell them to make room for their duel. This was a youkai fight. A lord's duel, where only one would be left standing.

Inuko took the first step doing a zigzag motion that set her on his side but not fast enough to anticipate his blow that caught her on the left side. It was a powerful punch, it made her back off several steps.

Recovering, she send a kick towards him that he cached with his arm, the strength evaporating. Turning the leg to the side he pushed her up and threw her on to the side. The dust formed clouds around her making it hard to see if she was standing or not. When it dissipated, she was on the floor but shockingly she was on her feet. No youkai could do that, unless…

“Neko youkai…”

“Yes, I have some neko youkai blood in me.”

“How? Whom??”

“You might have heard about her, the legendary neko youkai that had the power of a great ancient miko. Her name was… Takara”

Giving him no time to react, a surge of energy erupted around her. The explosion of energy send a powerful red light towards Koharu, sending him backwards several feet until he crashed against a tree, then another and another, until he finally stopped.

The red gloom enveloping Inuko opened to the sides, taking the shape of two big wings that clasped one another enclosing her. The wind around her sweeping all in its way, creating a cocoon around it that united with the light made her figure in fetal position barely visible behind the scarlet glade.

“What the…” One of Koharu's men started a sentence destined to never be finished. Ira appeared at Koharu's side, helping him to lift himself from the ground and together watched as that same man who had spoken close to them transformed into dust when one of the wings touched him in its opening motion.

Ira held her breath as a new being came out of the cocoon, a being that transpired ferocity and power, nothing left of Inuko's delicacy and shyness. It was without doubt a youkai with neko blood inside, a mixture of dog and cat no one had seen before. Her hair had become black as a starless night and it flew around her like a whip would, the white fuzzy dog ears more pointy now, making stark contrast. Her bangs covered her face, but her dress had being affected by the transformation, ripped in some places and evaporated completely in others. Her arms bared and her legs free of the restraining sides of the long ago long elegant skirt, she moved as if her feet didn't came in contact with the floor.

“Now, I'll rip your throat, Koharu” Her deeply sexy purr made him watch her face. Her eyes bled red and so did her stripes, longer, deeper and brighter than they had being.

Her kick connected to his face before he saw it coming. She had gotten ten times faster than before, it was unbelievable. Dazed he backed a step or two to focus on Ira fighting the red youkai.

There was no doubt that Inuko had no technique, but her blows where deadly. Her strength swept the ground each time she lunged, the earth crumbling under her while Ira ran around, dodging and occasionally connecting few of her blows and kicks. The cat girl had no chance against Inuko in such a state, he had being correct about her power. She was indeed the most beautiful primal thing he had laid eyes upon, no other female he had had could compare to that.

Takign advantage of Ira's attempts to through Inuko, he leaped in the air and slashed her back with his own large claws before hitting her in the same spot with his knee. She doubled forward her knees collapsing and only her hands supporting her weight. She panted and threw some saliva to the side, it carried blood mixed with it.

“Ira, get back.” He approached her and tipping her chin upwards, forced his kiss on her. His bruising lips opening hers, his tongue savoring the sour flavor of her blood on her tongue and mouth while his claws dipped around her neck.

Growling she pushed backwards after biting his lips, making them bleed. Sprawled on the dust she jumped up in a fluid motion backwards that left her crouching once more ready to fight. He cleansed his mouth, spitting, and signaled for her to come. Inuko run to him taking, receiving and connecting punchs, kicks, and slashes. They were both left bleeding, panting and sweating staring at one another in a closed glare.

“I need you, to retain my clan's… our blood's… strength. You belong here, like your mother did… not with some dog as a whore as she ended her days!”

Inuko felt the words more than understood them. Her rage touched a peak she hadn't knew still existed. None had the right to hurt her family, not even talk about them in such a way, and he would not live to tell.

Blinded by her feelings she slashed her way towards him, kicking aside his defensive pose, slashing his forearm open and breaking his shoulder in sweeping motion that spooned him in a circle around her. He lunched with a kick this time, hurting her stomach and making her scream in pain. Her shout made him doubt whether to go on or not but before he had a chance she leaped up and trespassed his thigh with her hand.
Screaming, he threw her to the side, and clutching his leg with his unharmed arm retreated a few yards in a clean jump.

From the floor Inuko saw how he went away and panicking, believing he was trying to escape their fight, she lounged towards him catching him unguarded in the desperate and unexpected action.

She saw how her hand was about to go through his chest, his face shocked and still locked in a mute yell of sorrow. And suddenly, something pink fell all around her and a sweet lemon smell was all her senses could distinguish.
