Chapter 13: The Old Castle

Oh guys! I'm getting desperate, is anyone going to write a review? I'm dieing to know what you think about my fanfic… Please be a cutie pie and write some for me.

Disclaimer: I do not own Inu's rights. Rumiko I love you!

The old building stood like a phantom in the distance. It had being built in an island that stood on the center of a marine water lake that came from the ocean under the earth. The forest around it was the most green and beautiful one Kagome had never seen, bird flew around them, posing in her hands unafraid while bees coupled in vivid colored flowers that sprang to life everywhere. Stray rays of light filtered through the tree tops, touching their heads and filling the space in a cozy, dim lighted mood.

“This is so beautiful” she breathed.

“This forest is known as Hunitng Park, it's part of the castle's grounds. We will not find any youkai in here since their entrance it's prohibited.”

“How come we are allowed to come in then?” Miroku's pertinent question angered Inuyasha.

“Because I know the owner, don't bother me, bouzu.”

Miroku raised his shoulders in question, he hadn't said nothing, really, to get him mad at him. But Inuyasha was very sensitive due to Inuko-chan's condition, maybe that was it after all, and the lost opportunity to get some help from the cat youkai clan they had lost in such a tragic way. Miroku sighted, their fate was not to gain things in an easy way, there was no doubt about that. At least here they would be able to rest. He could clearly see how tired both Sango and Kagome were.

“How are we going to cross the lake? There doesn't seem to be any bridge in sight” Kagome muttered patting Shippo on the head and cuddling him to her chest, he felt so warm she marveled at his ability not to feel how cold it was getting now the sun had gone down.

“There used to be a rising bridge for travelers to cross over, but now it seems to have banished…” Inuyasha walked to the river bank, Inuko positioned comfortably on his back. The little girl was sound asleep, he marveled at how fast had she accommodated herself on his back, her arms surrounding his neck and her face borrowed deep in his hair.

“There's nothing in sight that can be used as a bridge” Miroku sighted, nop, nothing would ever be easy for them.

“Can't we fly over?”

“I'm sorry Kagome but Kirara is exhausted and I think Kuro is very near that…” Sango said patting her pet on the head while the little cat perched on her shoulder. Kagome slumped into a tree's root and crossed her legs in a typical Inuyasha' position. Kuro moved closer to her and rubbed her head against her side until Kagome petted her and toyed with her years.

Inuyasha eyed her with amusement, she looked so good, her skirt rolled over the beautiful legs exposing the tender skin in her thighs. Her smile warmed his heart and her giggles at Kuro's tickles made him smile, a little secret smile that crept into his lips without him noticing it.

He studied the tree at his left, it's roots dipped into the water and his huge branches extended into the waters. He knew the tree, it had being there before he had being born, planted by his own father when he was young. He touched the tree softly, it brought back so many memories. A soft creamy looking hand extended over his. Shocked he turned to see Inuko, barely conscious, observed the tree too.

“This tree is sad, because… he is no longer used” she mumbled.

“What does he misses doing?”

“Lif-ting…the brid-ge” Before Inuyasha could say a thing, Inuko was again deeply sleep. There was no way of waking her, she was beyond normal dreams, escaping to somewhere he could not follow.

“Kagome, I need you to connect with the tree!”

“What?” She didn't move, Inuyasha's request was beyond weird. She must have heard it wrong.

“Come here, the only way of lifting the bridge is connecting to this tree. It's like a button you have to press to make it lift.”

“But I've never done something like that.”

“You can do it. Come on, at least try it. You have connected through a tree before, why connecting to this one it's different?”

She blushed remembering how she had called to Inuyasha from her sacred tree in the future when he had being hurt by an arrow and imprisoned in the tree. It was a sweet memory for both of them, how their love had reached through the barriers of time.

She touched the rigid surface, it felt hard and not welcoming but she tried to force her way towards the consciousness of the tree. A bright light entered her mind and she heard a heavy guttural voice that mumbled in her ear.

“Please, help us get to the castle.” She received orders from the tree, teaching her how to raise the bridge. Her hand followed them tracing a pattern in the wood that resembled a weird snake twisting in a tree.

Inuyasha pushed her backwards when the tree shook and a huge wooden snake descended from the top of the branches, her eyes blazing red. He took Tetsaiga out of his belt aiming at it but the snake went on into the water and a few minutes later a wonderful bridge came out for them. It's perfect curvature extended over the surface reflecting the color of the water in it's glass surface. Marine plants and flowers were attached to it on the sides and colorful coral covered part of the floor.

“It's magnificent”

“It's dirty.” Inuyasha growled. He had never seen the bridge like this, he remembered it glowing in the morning sun, the frosted glass reflecting the ray and creating rainbows in the water that reflected itself in the floor giving it an ice-blue gloom.

“Inuyasha, is it safe to walk over it?” Sango question made him smirk.

“The bridge is alright, only dirty due to no use. The magic holding it together refuses to die yet… Like the tree said they miss being used.” He started walking, heading them towards the island.

Kagome took his hand in hers and he squeezed it. While they walked towards the giant shadow of the island, Kagome couldn't help wondering whom this castle belonged to and how Inuyasha knew it so well.

The shadow of a mountain on the left side of the promenade came closer and closer, while on the other side a smaller mountain with some kind of building on top made itself visible when they were only a few feet from the land. The forest in the middle of them was tall and full of tropical trees and flowers that were almost impossible to distinguish in the dim light.

“It's almost night. We'll need light…” Kuro moved herself to his side making her tail and paws burn more, it illuminated a great deal of the way.

“Great. That's the parlor that communicates to the left wing. We'll find cover there.”

Inuyasha signaled towards a building inundated with orchids and a fountain in the center that connected the garden to a hall sustained by four pillars of white marble. When they opened the door, they were shocked to find that the inside was clean and dry. No plants humidity stained the walls and no dust covered the wooden floor. What had sustained the garden causing it to continue growing had sustained the house too.

“It's… clean.” Kagome whispered.

“This place is held together by magic…” Miroku grasped Sango by the arm and held her behind him while he grasped his shaft with strength, there was something he didn't like about the atmosphere here.

“Yes. Relax Miroku, no harm will be done to us here.” Inuyasha took a torch from the wall and lighted it on Kuro's tail. Placing several of them on the four walls the room came to life as if it had never stopped being inhabited.

The floor was made of oiled wood and the walls were painted in a soft creamy peach color. There was a table on a corner with a painting of a beautiful youkai woman. Inuyasha covered it with a table cloth before the others saw it.

“To the left there is a corridor with several rooms. Please use the minimum in order to be comfortable and not disrupt the house.” The orders were weird enough but they didn't argue, Inuyasha was really serious, and they knew better than disobey him.

Kagome went into a room and was surprised when she found a pair of futons in the closet. They were of a very good quality and had no holes.

“Prepare one for Inuko. I'll put her to rest and we'll all go into the hall to dinner some of your time's food.”

“Hai. Inuyasha” she added, “ We…”

“We'll stay in the next room. Sango said she would stay here and since my little cousin is in a steady condition there will be no problem.” He smiled cockily without looking at her. It had being long since they had had a room for themselves. In Kagome's house, her mother had refused to allow such a thing but he would slip into her room at night just to sleep with her, feeling her breathing. In the forest they shared her sleeping bag but with Miroku and Sango nearby it was not the perfect situation for his taste.

Kagome blushed, she knew what he meant that for and her stomach flipped in anticipation. She extended the futon on the floor and opened it for Inuyasha to put Inuko down. The girl looked tired but other than that, okay. It was a relief she was feeling better now, with no trace of the high fever that had affected her.

“Kagome, Inuyasha, you should come to see this” Miroku's voice brought her back to reality. They followed him outside.

“What's wrong, Houshi-sama?”

“Look, into the lake, a tiny frost is beginning to cover it.” Inuyasha focused his sight in the distance. It was true, the water was frozen!

“Dammit. This is impossible! We are in the middle of summer!” Inuyasha fisted his hand until his knuckles got white, what the hell was going on?

“It is, like the snow that fell over Inuko when she… almost…” Kagome's sentence died in a murmur no one got to hear.

“Maybe they are connected, before it was the fever… Like she was attracting the hot temperature, now she might be attracting the coldness.”

“But Miroku, is that possible for a young youkai?” The taiji ya was not so sure since she had never heard of anything like this in her years of training.

“I don't know. I have known of youkai that could control the temperature of themselves and their surroundings, but this goes beyond that. Inuyasha, she might freeze herself if we are not careful.” But Inuyasha was nowhere to be seen. “Where is he?”

“He's being acting weird since we entered the castle. I'll go find him. Please take care of the food, Miroku-sama”

“Sure, it'll be a pleasure” When she turned she felt the particular touch of his hand on her butt. Turning she slapped him hard with the shout of “Hentai!” leaving him unconscious on the floor.

“That was hard. You are getting strong Kagome.” Sango murmur came from under the roof near the fountain. The girl had her long hair loose and her kimono neatly tied, no trace of her battle garment.

“I'm sorry. It must be hard for you…”

Sango blushed and turned away. “Sometimes, I wonder if I'll find what you and Inuyasha have… That kind of happiness.”

“You will. You'll see.” Kagome embraced her friend form behind and both smiled tenderly. Sango had always being really nice to her and Kagome felt a bit guilty for her ethereal happiness in Inuyasha's arms. She wanted the girl to be that happy and loved too. She went to look for her mate, leaving Sango crouched at the side of Miroku's inert body.

Inuko, inside the bedroom, listened to their words with her youkai ear. She too wanted that kind of love, but her beloved was very far from her, maybe not even caring what had happened to her all this time since she had run away. She touched her cheeks, once more she was crying for him. Ira had known that kind of love too… Cuddling herself in the warm futon she made herself smaller and fell asleep.

She found him sitting by a huge pool, she had never heard of pool like this one in a house form the Sengoku Jidai but the entire house was beyond what she had expected for a castle of that age. His hair was swept by the wind, his reflection on the calm surface still and shining under the moon's light.

“Come closer” It didn't surprise her he had noticed her, his senses were so much better than hers, getting used to that had caused her trouble at first but now it was normal.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, I just… I was remembering how this castle looked before it was emptied.”

“You used to come here often, ne?”

“Hai. It was prettier, the flowers grew on the sides of cleaned paths made of stones that connected the different gardens and internal yards. It was not this wild, never. The rooms were similar to what they are now, but after the fire the house on itself could only retain a minimum of it's previous splendor. No works of arts brought form China, no pelts and white tigers skin on the floor…”

“You loved this house.” Kagome whispered in his ear when he pulled her closer and embraced her shoulder with his arm.

“Kagome, this was my house.” The revelation left her without words. “Don't tell the others. If we weren't in such a state, with Inuko needing rest and all, I would have never come back here.”

“But why? It's your home after all…”

“It's Seshoumaru's home now. Not mine anymore.” His tone was sour. She felt the sadness emanating form him and seeping into her. She wanted so much to make him feel better. Turning she transferred one of her legs to his side, sort of riding him but face to face.

He chuckled and massaging her nape brought her mouth to his, devouring her parted lips as if it were a wine he couldn't get enough of. She tasted so sweet and warm, his and only his. Claws trailing at her back, he could only focus on how her inner thighs clamped when he dipped his claws on her spine.

She shuddered in pleasure, she always melted with him, giving herself so completely he felt exuberant and complete like he had never felt before. He pictured their first time together, the one time when he had made her his mate for life. She had being afraid he wouldn't like her body, covering her breasts thinking they would displease him. He could never understand that, he loved her perfect round forms and how she reacted ever so sensible to his touch, to his caresses. He couldn't imagine anything more close to heaven than losing himself in her warmness, smelling her perfume and how her hair seemed to carry all the fruits he had ever known.

She moaned, bringing him back to present times. Her skin was so hot he thought her blood might boil; melting in his lap was the perfect position for her to be if they were paralyzed for the rest of eternity.

Biting her neck on the side, he trailed a path to her ear, sucking on her earlobe and biting it before his tongue softly caressed it, bringing soft moans of pleasure form deep down in her chest. Soft rumbles escaped form his lips, heavy rusted sounds more like a dog's than a human, but he knew she enjoyed them, never minding in which state he was, always recognizing him as her Inuyasha.

Their kisses continued to go up the scale, no sweetness left just feral passion consuming them both, how had he missed her all this days they couldn't get away from the camp. She needed his attentions, he could tell by smelling her scent and how it changed when he placed his hands on her round backside.

He had nothing else in mind but to please her when she stopped him with her hand before he removed her skirt.

“Inuyasha, they… are waiting for us to go to dinner.” She had several problems connecting her thoughts with his mouth suspiciously trailing down from her shoulder.

“We could always do a quicky, koi.”

“Inuyasha!” she blushed to the roots of her hair. “Please, what if they find us?”

“They won't.”

“But… I don't want to have to hurry…” She had murmured that phrase on purpose knowing that the implication would send him on edge.

“You don't have to, I'll make sure you get there fast.” His bruising kiss made her swallow her last words, his hand poised on her breast massaging it softly.

“Inuyasha”

“That's the only name you'll ever say like this, koishi.” Inuyasha circled her neck with his hand and bitted the tendon on the left side after licking the soft spot there with his tongue. Kagome had no recollection whatsoever of how things went after that.

While Inuyasha and Kagome were making out on the side of the natural salty water pool, Sango was very busy lighting a fire in the central chimney the hall had. She had never seen a chimney like this since the smoke went out through a tube that derived outdoors. It was a very handy thing, outside it was getting cold and she had no intention of cooking in the freezing park. Besides that Kagome's cooking pots and future food were always packed in tiny envelopes that could be easily handled in a little space like that one.

Miroku stood at her side, his back poised against a column of grey granite. His eyes didn't leave her back for a second, his head in turmoil. Wondering if grabbing her at this moment would spoil the quietness of the instant or if restraining himself was good for a change, his hand moving of it's own volition decided the matter for him.

“Hentai!” Sango shriek made echo in the house. When Shippo crawled out of bed, where his mother had placed him, he found Miroku on the floor with a red mark on his face. Sango was handling a soup plate as if the man wasn't unconscious and sprawled above the rug that covered the floor.

“He groped you again?” Shippo's innocent question made Sango spill part of the food on the fire that crept and leaped scaring her and making her fall flat on her backside.

“I see.” Taking with him a bag of chips, the little kit went back to bed without looking at the too hilarious humans. Looking how Miroku got hit was his favorite diversion, but once the monk was dead on the floor, he needed some time to recharge and go back to action so that gave him some time to spare before anything amusing happened again.

Sango didn't even register Shippo's disappearance until she saw Miroku reincorporate and crawl to her side.

“Why do you keep doing it? Are you masochist or what?”

“Sango, dear, I only want to touch you…”

“And every other girl you see, after asking them if they would bare your kids!”

“Don't get mad at me, is in my nature to do so.” His banal excuse only made her angrier. She refused to make eye contact with him and toyed with the tool Kagome called fork.

Sango was too quiet for his taste. Reaching into a flower pot he placed a beautiful white little blooming flower in her lap, she flinched when she felt the weight on her knees. Refusing to acknowledge his jest, Sango went on with her cooking, letting the flower slip to the floor when she stood up and went into the corridor to check on Shippo. Miroku catched it before it fell into the fire and got burnt. She was really mad.

“You don't have to talk to me if you are that angry, but you know that me grabbing you is only normal.”

“Why!?” She burst. “Why can't you be normal and not some pervert bastard for once!?”

“I didn't know you thought of me that way…” He backed a few feet form her. It hurt to see her eyes look into his with such anger and despise.

“I don't! I must be crazy or something but I don't!” She sobbed, keeping her tears back in line.

“Oh, Sango…” He didn't come closer resisting the urge to embrace her and feel her supple body close to his. “I'm sorry… I really am… But old habits die hard…”

“It's not that! You grab everybody!” When the words came out of her mouth she clasped a hand to her lips realizing the implications of what she had said.

Miroku's eyes went wide. It meant she didn't care to be groped by him, she was mad because he did that to every girl he came in touch with. It dawned on him but he said nothing, seeing her embarrassment he made no sound. The silence was absolute when Shippo once more came in like a zombie dragging his little feet to the food.

“Sango, I want food!”

“It's almost ready, little one.”

“Hey, bouzu, don't try grabbing Sango again, you might die, even if your scull is the most resistant one I've ever seen”

“Don't be disrespectful, I'm an adult, brat.”

“Ha, like it did you any good.” Shippo went away from the weird couple and almost tripped with Kuro's tail. The huge cat was asleep on Inuko's room side with Kirara curled into a ball between her paws. `Two weird mononokes' He had never seen mononokes that belonged to someone like this two did. His dad had always said that mononokes were their own masters if they were untamed, and if they weren't they would only submit when imprisoned or under someone's power. Certainly they were an exception to the rule.

Pushing the panel to the side, he came into Inuko's room. There was the faint smell of salt mixed with water. He wondered were that came from until he heard a sob from inside the futon.

“Are you okay, Inuko?”

“Y-e..-e..es” He crawled under the blanket until he found her face borrowed deep under the first blanket, surrounded by her hair all tangled with tiny tears over the tresses. Hugging her, he scooped in between her arms and patted her on the cheeks.

“Don't cry. I know it must be hard what happened in that village but it was that way for a reason.”

“I'm sorry, Shippo, you were in a difficult situation too. I'm being selfish…”

“It's alright. Killing another youkai is always hard, so my mom used to say when dad killed someone to protect us. But youkai must be hard for those he.. or she.. wants to protect.”

“Really? ” She made eye contact with him. Her eyes were marine green and her sight was watered and blurry but Shippo's huge eyes full of concern brought her back to her senses.

“Yes. But never without a reason.”

“I was taught killing was evil, no matter what circumstances but they never talked about live or die situations… I guess that if you engage in a battle there's no other way around to win.”

“Youkai die in battle's that's what they call honor, to be brave enough to risk your life in a battle for protect others or your values. If you are prepared to die in battle then you're prepared to win one.”

“Thanks Shippo-chan… I've got so much to learn…”

“Never mind. You'll learn.”

“You seem older than you are, you know?”

“I watch older ones a lot. And Inuyasha is always defending us from bad youkai, killing them too, and Kagome too.”

“That's very wise, to watch and observe others…” He nodded and cleaned her eyes, erasing all trace of tears.

“I smell food. We should check it out.”

“Yeah, good idea.” They both stood and went towards where the scent of delicious food was coming form. Inuko held Shippo in her arms while he embraced her neck. The light weight of the kitsune seemed a feather to her and she marveled of his warmness and the softness of his fur. He was a lovely kit, for sure. She wondered if puppies were like kits…

A/N: Well folks, this chapter took me a while to be ready. I hope it's good and stands to everybody's expectations!
