Once she was out of sight, kagome began to run. She hadn't wanted to leave, but she wasn't supposed to stay that long. She was meant to be home before dark, and the skies had become a deep blue, lit up by an endless range of stars, and the glow of a beautiful crescent moon. Her mom might get worried. And when kagomes mom got worried, she got both upset and angry. Kagome picked up the pace, after a few minutes she realized she must've headed off the trail. But before she could stop running, she tripped over a rock and went flying into the spring. Water forced its way into her mouth and up her nose, she burst her head through the surface of the spring spitting out the water, and gulped up the air. She trudged out of the water and onto the dirt trail, spluttering and coughing. {dammit. I'm late, lost and wet!} Her damp clothes clung to her body. She straightened her skirt and rearranged her flip-flops on her feet. {It's a wonder I didn't lose my shoes!}

sesshy followed her scent. {Where the hell did she go? I came off the trail like 2 minutes ago!} A few minutes later he saw her scrambling out of the water of the cold spring. He silently walked up behind her. "kagome?" she jumped and spun around, her eyes wide. "Sesshy! Don't scare me like that! …What are you doing here?" she said frowning. He gestured toward the bag by his feet. "Oh." She grinned and looked away, blushing. "I'm so stupid, I forgot it. You didn't have to bring it all this way." She said. Sesshy smiled. "But if I hadn't come, you would've been lost all night." He said. "I would've found my way back to the well!" she said stubbornly. "Sure." He said still smiling. Kagome took a step toward him, getting flooded in moonlight that filtered through the trees. As though automatically, sesshy put his arm around her back. She leaned forward and kissed him on the lips, lightly at first. then she leaned away, but he pulled her back into the kiss, and brought his other arm around her rubbing her dampened back. He brought his tongue around her lips, which were moist from the water. She willingly opened her mouth and thrust her tongue into his, exploring his mouth. One hand was wrapped tightly around the back of his neck, and the other grasped his shoulder. He slowly began to lift her shirt from the back, but she suddenly dragged her lips away from his, the passion and emotion gone. He didn't push his luck. Instead he looked her in the eye, and ran his fingers through her damp yet silky hair. "What's wrong?" he asked, barely above a whisper. She didn't have to answer him, a tear slid down her cheek. She was thinking of inu, and sesshy could tell. He sighed. (not to interrupt the moment but that makes 6 sighs for sesshy…*reframes from rubbing it in kagomes face*) he dragged her into a hug. All she could do was stand there, limp in his embrace. He walked in the direction of the well, arms still around her, in a comforting way. When they reached it kagome finally managed some words. "I'm sorry…" she said, turning away, not able to face him. He had his hands on her hips and spoke from behind her. "Do you really still have feelings for Inu?" he asked, trying not to let his jealousy ignite his anger. She tried to think. {I don't have feelings for inu, I'm mad at him, but I would if he loved me…he just always comes into mind.} She repeated her thoughts in a whisper. Sesshy nodded. "Why does he come into mind?" he asked, patiently. "Because I'm mad at him, and you remind me of him." He tried to understand. "What does it matter if you love me?" he asked, forcing her to turn and look at him. Tears trickled down the sides of her face. He lifted her chin with his finger. "Tell me." He said. "Because maybe I don't love you. Maybe I just think I do because you remind me so much of inu." She said, biting down on her tongue, wishing she could take her words back, wishing she could tell him it was a joke, and that she really loved him. But she wasn't sure. She was so confused. Sesshy looked as though he had been slapped. "I - I'm sorry." Kagome stuttered. "I just….i don't know how I really feel right now." She said, trying to fix things. But there was nothing she could do. He'd already stopped listening. He turned and kept walking, without a word. Tears continued to roll down kagomes face. She shuddered, and went back down the well, home.

When she got home it was 9pm. She wasn't supposed to stay on the other side of the well past 6, unless it was to look for jewel shards with Inu, and her mother knew that that wasn't who she went to see. "What on earth were you doing for so long?!" she said angrily. "I told you I went to see sessomauru! We had dinner, and we talked. Whats the big deal?" kagome retorted. "Ate and talked huh? For 6 hours???" her mother screamed. "What did you eat, 10 horses? What did you talk about, political issues? You did something else kagome now tell me!" kagome sighed. (Darn her, that makes 9. will this war ever end?) Her mother was jumping to conclusions, acting as though she actually did something. {Why does she have to be so annoying? It's none of her business what I'm going through!} Seeing as her face was already tear streaked, she thought she might as well tell her what made her cry. "We had an argument." She said. "About what? Did he hurt you?!' she said, eyeing kagome for signs of bruises or cuts. " No MOTHER! We just had an argument and I don't wanna talk about it. Goodnight!" she ran up the stairs not giving her mother a chance to retaliate.
