Mmmmkay, I returneth. Kim gets a POV in this chapter! Yay! Actually…the whole chapter is her POV…go Kim!!

Kim's POV

Feeble sunlight was trying to get through the window when I finally got up. I'd fallen asleep with my head on the kitchen table, one arm serving as my pillow and the other warm underneath Seto's. I lifted my head a little, groggy from lack of sleep the night before.
The apartment looked different in daylight, less forbidding and almost more…vacant. The weak sunlight in the winter air did little to brighten up the room, especially if you walked by the hallway the bedrooms and stuff were down…you could see the overturned dresser from here.
Using the arm I'd made into a pillow, I tucked my hair behind my ear. It had fallen in my face while I slept, but since you can't really move around much while sleeping at a kitchen table, it wasn't messy at all.
Reaching over, I squeezed Seto's hand, waking him up without saying anything. He lifted his head and looked at me, smiling, before he squeezed my other hand, which was under his, before turning around to see what was going on in the living room, and I turned to see as well.
Jack was exactly where we'd left him, and it looked like his body had given in against his will and he'd fallen asleep despite his obvious wish to remain awake until he heard anything. InuYasha was sleeping on the couch, his arms wrapped around something which I assumed was Max, hugging her tightly to him.
I rubbed at my eyes a little to wake up, wishing that I could just go back to bed, but at the same time I didn't want to sleep. I wanted to know if there was any news.
Going over to the cupboards, I opened them, looking around for something to eat, and even throwing out some junk that the two lazy pirates had left. It had become a habit now that I was trying desperately to get out of. I picked up a few papers, crumpling them into a ball and tossing them in a corner where the garbage was…I missed. Oh well. Not like there was a danger of messing up the place or anything. Near the fridge I shook my head a little. There was a nearly full can of Pepsi sitting there, probably barely a sip taken out of it. ((Baha. A clue Sherlock! Too bad this isn't a mystery haha.))
“Bloody pirates…” I said quietly under my breath, trying not to laugh.
Seto and I only spoke in whispers for a while so we wouldn't wake them up, until when the sun started to fully rise I heard InuYasha moving on the couch. I turned around to see if he'd wake Max up too, but another surprise was in store.
There was InuYasha, sitting up, holding…a pillow. The pillow I'd thought was Max…
“InuYasha…” I said quietly, since I didn't want to wake up Jack…it wouldn't surprise me if he'd only just fallen asleep. “Where's Max?”
He looked bewildered. “I thought she was awake with you guys…”

“Ok…there has to be some sort of connection between this…Meg and Max are both missing on the same night…there's something weird going on…”
“Well, what can we do? We've got no idea where either of them are…”
All of us were awake now, and sitting around the small living room, trying to figure out exactly what was going on, unaware that around the same time Max was discussing the same thing in a small hut in feudal Japan, while Meg was running it through her head over and over again in the confinements of a tiny jail cell.
Jack looked like he was ready to kill someone, and InuYasha kept punching the same spot on the wall, leaving me to wonder if he was eventually going to smash right through into the neighbour's apartment.
I was starting to get impatient. “We can't just SIT here and do nothing!”
Jack turned to look at me. He looked kind of scary actually…he seemed past his initial shock, and now he looked pretty damn pissed off…same with InuYasha. I was suddenly glad that I wasn't the person responsible for Meg and Max being missing…Jack looked like he was going to say something, but changed his mind and turned away again.
I was just about to suggest that maybe we try calling their cell phones like we did before…when the actual phone rang.
We all dove for it, except for Seto, who was a bit too refined for that sort of thing. I got to it first and put it up to my ear, half-expecting it to be Meg, since her cell phone wasn't anywhere in the apartment, thinking that she was calling us from wherever she was.
“Hello?! Meg?!” I asked quickly, my voice urgent.
“Er…Mrs. Kaiba?”
I let out my breath and turned to the others, covering the mouthpiece. “False alarm.” I turned to Seto. “It's Frankie.”
He nodded. Frankie was the baby-sitter we'd hired at the last minute to look after the twins while we came here. We'd asked her a few times to look after them, so we didn't have anything to be worried about. She was a happy young woman with bright red curls that always seemed to look on the bright side of things.
Therefore I knew instantly that something was wrong when I heard her voice. She was breathing strangely, as if each breath was a struggle, and I could tell she was frantic. Worse still, tears were choking up her voice.
“Mrs…Mrs. Kaiba…please…you need to see this…I…I have to show you something…”
I held up my hand, as if the girl on the other end of the line could hear me. “Slow down Frankie…where are you?”
“Right outside your friend's apartment building…”
“What?! You're supposed to be with the twins!”
“Just tell me what apartment you're in…please…”
“Ok, ok, calm down. It's on the seventh floor, number 716.”
A few minutes later there was a frantic knocking on the door. Opening it quickly, there was Frankie, her frizzy red hair curling all around her head, her favourite Hello Kitty clip trying in vain to keep it in place. Tears streaked her face, dried and new, and more tears were starting to fall as she saw Seto and I.
“I'm sorry…I…I'm so sorry…” she stuttered, trying to get the words out. She was crumpling and uncrumpling a piece of paper in her hands, seeming nervous and frantic at the same time.
“Frankie…what's wrong…where are Rekai and Aerylis?”
She burst out into fresh tears. “They're gone!!”
I felt as if I were going to collapse…or faint…or something of that nature at those words. I felt Seto put his hands on my shoulders to steady me, and since I wasn't sure I could speak, he took over questioning Frankie. “What do you mean…they're gone?”
She started talking extremely fast. “I went into the other room while they were asleep to get them their bottles to warm them up in case they woke up because you know they do that sometimes in the night when you two aren't around and I was only out of the room for a few seconds I swear, just while I was warming up the milk and when I came back into their bedroom they were completely gone, disappeared from their cribs, and all I found was this on the floor in between them.” She stopped to take a breath, tears of regret falling down her face.
I could feel tears forming in my own as I read over the note, and by the time I got to the end I wasn't able to hide my anguish at what had happened.

Seto Kaiba;

I'm surprised that it was this simple to take something precious away from you. I had originally intended to make your wife my target, but I thought this would be far more interesting to see your reaction to. As you can see, your children are gone, and if it's in your best intentions to see them alive again, then you might want to start thinking about who controls KabiaCorp…I've taken them back with me, so if you want to exchange them for what I want, you'll know where to go.

“That son of a bitch…” Seto said quietly. I wasn't able to talk. Not now.
We sent Frankie home to rest, swearing to her that we didn't blame her in the least, and telling her that she'd be one of the first to know if we got any news at all. Once she was gone, I felt my voice come back.
“That BASTARD!!”
I started to pace the living room, taking any object I got my hands on and flinging it across the room. “How DARE he take MY CHILDREN from me?! From YOU?!?! I'LL KILL HIM! I SWEAR TO GOD I'LL KILL HIM WITH MY OWN TWO HANDS IF A SINGLE HAIR IS TOUCHED ON MY BABIES' HEADS!!”
I took the remote for the TV and flung it at the wall, shattering it into three separate pieces. Jack didn't even seem to care that I was tearing his apartment apart.
Seto grabbed my hand as I walked by him and pulled me close, hugging me tightly as an attempt to calm me down. That's when I really started to cry, and I just held onto him as if I needed him there or else I wouldn't be able to stand properly.
“We have to find them…” I said quietly.
He kissed the top of my head. “We will find them. He won't do anything to hurt them, I promise you that Kim.” He sounded really determined, mixed with the fact that he was as pissed off as I was…and worried to death too.
Jack spoke up after a while, once the silence had gone on for so long it was becoming loud. “It isn't possible tha' this is a coincidence…”
I pulled my head away from Seto so that I could talk. “No way. Meg, Max…and the twins all gone in one night? This isn't a normal kidnapping…especially with Max, since we were in the room with her the whole time.”
InuYasha turned around to look at us. “If your kids went back to his world,” he pointed at Seto, “then maybe Max went back to where I came from.” He looked over and Jack. “And same with Meg and you.”
I blinked. “That's got to be the most intelligent thing I've heard you say in the months that I've known you.”
He shrugged. “Save it, how do we find them?”
Seto looked over at the other two. “How did you two get here?”
Jack shrugged. “Leaned up against a wall and fell backwards into it. Then I was here.”
InuYasha looked surprised. “That's pretty much the same thing that happened to me…”
Seto nodded, obviously figuring out things in his mind. “So it must have been the same sort of portal that brought us all here…and if it happened in all of our worlds, it must happen in this one as well…”
He turned away, letting go of me gently so I would sit down in a chair, and looked around at all the walls. “If we're all in this room…then there should be a portal made from us all being together that will bring us each back to our own places…”
He went over to a wall and looked as if he were going to touch it, but he narrowed his eyes and turned another way to the wall across from him and put his hand on that one instead.
His hand went right through…without a hole being there.
“Freaking genius…” I muttered. He turned and smirked at me.
Jack stood up and went over to the wall, starting to look hopeful at the fact that he'd be able to find Meg. “So if we all go through tha', we'll be put back to where we came from aye?”
InuYasha looked like he was beginning to understand. “And to where Max Meg and the twins have been taken.”
I stood up and practically shoved them all out of the way. “I don't see why the fuck you're all just standing there then…let's GO!”

*dances* Whee. Done. And we sort of know what's going on now! Well mostly…Max is still in the dark…but we'll figure out what's going on with her eventually haha. I'll also point out right now that I've never seen an episode of that…Yugi something or other show, so if anything from that sounds stupid, that's why haha. I'm depending solely on descriptions from Max and Kim, and sometimes Sarah. So shush. Anyway, bye until next time!!
