“I’m so very pleased to meet you.” Said Ayla, as she gave an awkward curtsy. She gave each Miroku, Sango and Shippou a big toothy grin and was rewarded with returned smiles.
Shippou moved forward and examined the little girl. “Nice to meet you, Ayla.”
“Nice to meet you, too Shippou.” Ayla grinned bigger. “I would know you anywhere Momma told me all about you and I really wanted to meet you. You sounded really nice.”
Shippou grinned. He grabbed Ayla’s hand and began to pull her towards the village. “Come on. I want to show you around.”
Ayla turned and looked at her mother, her eyes begging for permission. Kagome smiled. “Don’t wander far. It’s almost bedtime.”
Ayla squealed with delight and began running. She laughed as Shippou began running circles around her as they headed towards the village. Kagome laughed at Ayla’s happiness. It had been a while since Ayla laughed like that.
“Uh, Kagome. What’s going on? Is that Inuyasha’s daughter?” Sango said, moving towards Kagome.
“No.”
This stopped Sango short. She looked over to Miroku. He looked as stunned as she felt.
“What do you mean ‘no’? She looks just like him.” Sango’s eyes widened. “Unless... Was Inuyasha right? Did Sesshoumaru...?”
“He didn’t rape me if that’s what you mean.” Kagome sighed. She picked up her overly large bag, which happened to also be different than the one she used to have, and began walking towards the village. “The night that I left, I was really angry with Inuyasha. While I was bathing, Sesshoumaru came. Before I could do anything, he carried me away, propositioned me, and after things happened, he brought me back to the spring. It was my choice.”
“But, Kagome, why? I mean, of course you can do whatever you want, but Sesshoumaru? He’s tried to kill you and Inuyasha more times than I care to count.” Miroku said. Sango was nodding in agreement.
“I was hurt by what Inuyasha said to me, and I wanted to forget the pain. That’s all.”
“You sound rather mild about it.”
“It was a long time ago. And when I found out I was pregnant, I just couldn’t handle all the things going on. If I had known what was going to happen, I would have stopped it. But, now that I have Ayla, She is the light in life. She’s the one who made me forget about my pain and my worries. No matter what Inuyasha says or does, It won’t effect me.”
“What if he tries to hurt Ayla?” Miroku held up his hands to restrain the sudden looks of anger coming from Kagome and Sango. “I don’t believe he would, but it is a possibility. I mean this is Sesshoumaru’s child after all.”
Kagome regarded him coolly for a moment before responding. “If he tried to hurt Ayla, he’d be dead.”
“You’d kill him, obviously. But Ayla-”
“No, I wouldn’t do a thing to him. Ayla would kill him. She’s already killed more demons than I have.”
Sango and Miroku stopped. “Excuse me?”
“Ayla has a very unique gift. You know how Inuyasha has those attacks can do? Well, Ayla has a gift she got from me. But with her demon blood, it was magnified. She can create a purification shield around herself. Just like my arrows. So when a demon tries to hurt her, instinct comes up and the shield destroys the demon. But the demon has to attack her. She can’t just call up the shield.”
“Amazing.”
The group chatted about the time that passed for each of them, and what they had done during the time they were separated. They laughed and joked until they reached the hut. Miroku and Sango headed into the hut first, while Kagome trailed after them.
“What took you guys so...” Inuyasha stared, dumbfounded, at Kagome. Keade gasped in surprise.
“Kagome, is that you...?” Keade moved closer.
“Yeah, it’s me. God, it’s good to see you Keade.” Kagome embraced the older woman with a smile.
Inuyasha was still at a loss for words. Kagome had changed so much, it was hard to believe that this was his Kagome. He took a step forward then stopped. He wasn’t sure what he should do. He wanted to grab her and hold her close and never let go, he wanted to scream and shout at her, he wanted to kiss her, but most of all, he wanted an explanation. To why she had been gone so long, and to how she had changed so drastically.
Before he could do or say anything, however, Kagome turned to him. “Inuyasha. It’s been a long time.” She smiled. “I hope you’re not mad at me.”
Inuyasha decided to go with his first instinct. He reached out to her and pulled her into a tight hug. “I thought you weren’t coming back.”
Kagome laughed softly and returned the hug. “I wasn’t planning on it. But things have changed, and I need your help. I have really missed you Inuyasha.”
“Why didn’t you want to come back? Was it because of what I said? I am really sorry about that.”
Kagome pulled away from the hug. “It was that, and a lot of other things, too. I just didn’t feel wanted here. I felt very used.”
“Kagome...”
“Not just by you, Inuyasha, by Sesshoumaru as well.”
“That bastard! He did rape you! I knew it!” Inuyasha stood up and stormed towards the doorway.
“Sit.”
Wham! “Dammit, Kagome, what the hell was that for? ”
“For jumping to the wrong conclusion and not listening. He didn’t rape me. I consented.”
“What?” Inuyasha was again speechless.
“He let me decide and I chose wrong. I felt very cheap afterward and thought that you’d look at me differently for it. I didn’t want that. So that also helped me to decide on leaving.”
Inuyasha stopped. He didn’t want her to feel that way. He’d have to make Sesshoumaru very sorry indeed for doing this to his Kagome. But, he decided it was time for a topic change. He cleared his throat. “So... Why do you look so different?”
Before Kagome could answer, Shippou and Ayla burst through the hut entrance. Ayla was laughing as she tried to catch Shippou’s tail. When she saw Kagome, she ran over to her, grinning broadly.
“I really like it here, Momma. It smells a lot cleaner. And the people are nice to me, too!” Ayla turned and looked around the hut. Then she spotted Inuyasha. Her eyes got big. “Is that him?”
“Yep. That’s him.”
Ayla gave a delighted squeak and rushed over to Inuyasha. She jumped up onto his lap and climbed up his body until she reached his ears. When she reached her goal, she began to rub them. “Yep. He really does have ears!” She slid down his body and stood in his lap, staring directly into his eyes. “I’mSoHappyToMeetYouInuyashaMommaHasToldMeAllAboutYouAndICouldn’tWaitToMeet YouSheSaidYouLookedJustLikeM

Inuyasha stared wide eyed at the child. She was still running at the mouth and he couldn’t understand a word she was saying but that wasn’t the reason he was silent. He knew that this was Kagome’s daughter, but he wasn’t the father, which left Sesshoumaru.
“That’s enough, Ayla It’s time for bed. You can talk to him more tomorrow, Okay?”
“But Momma I’m not tired Can I stay up a little longer? Please?”
“No. We’ve had a very long day, and don’t argue with me. If you do, you can go back through the well, and help Uncle Souta take care of the shrine. You know he could use the help.”
“Blah. It’s no fun at the shrine.” Ayla pouted for a minute before she turned to Inuyasha. “Will you play with me tomorrow?”
Inuyasha looked at the little girl. She looked just like Sesshoumaru. A far away memory stirred, reminding him of a time long ago when he was a child and he had asked Sesshoumaru to play with him. Sesshoumaru had said no.
“Yeah.”
Ayla clapped her hands together and laughed. She jumped up and kissed Inuyasha’s nose before heading over to her mother to get ready for bed.

^^;; Hope you liked this part. For those of you that thought this was going to be one of those stories with lemon after lemon in it, I’m sorry to say, that’s not the case. I happen to like like big plots (if you couldn’t tell -_-;;). Anyhoo, I do plan on at least one more lemon, if not two. So just have patience!!!
Oh, and if anyone has an idea for a better story summary than my current one, let me know!!!! I just don’t think my description fits the story very well, and I can’t think of a better one. *sigh*
