“You son of a bitch, bring my daughter back out her, now!” Kagome screamed at Naraku. Inuyasha had to hold her back as she tried to launch herself at him.
“I see these six years have changed your temperament.” Naraku gave her a cursory glance before completely dismissing her. “Sesshoumaru, I could hardly believe you would sully yourself with the likes of her and to have a half-breed child? I’m surprised at you.”
“I do not have to explain myself to you. Return the child, and perhaps I won’t destroy you.”
“That would go against my plan. I’m keeping the girl. She could be very useful to me and I’m not prepared to give her up. She belongs to me, now.”
Kagome swore and started to fight against Inuyasha. Being in his human state, he nearly lost his grip on her. Miroku and Sango quickly added their assistance.
“You monster! Give her back to me! I swear I’ll rip you to pieces!”
“Kagome, calm down! Stop fighting me! We’re going to get her back, but you have to calm down. You are no help like this, and we need you. Ayla needs you!”
Naraku ignored the whole drama and faced off with Sesshoumaru. “You have no chance of getting her back. I have the majority of the Shikon, which gives me power you cannot imagine. And if you somehow manage to kill me, Kohaku will destroy that girl. You cannot win.”
“We’ll see about that.” Sesshoumaru said as he drew his sword.

Ayla dragged her feet, staring at the back of Kohaku’s head. “Can’t you slow down? My legs are shorter than your’s.” Just as the words left her mouth, she stumbled and fell to the ground.
“Ow... I think I twisted my ankle.” Ayla gave Kohaku a pained look and rubbed her ankle. “Will you carry me on your back?”
Kohaku immediately turned his back and lowered himself down for her to climb up. His eyes remained dead and uncaring.
Ignoring the fact that she said her ankle was injured, which it wasn’t, Ayla leapt up and climbed onto Kohaku’s back. He stood up and began to walk toward her room.
Ayla ran her hand over his back, looking for the bump that would tell her where the shard was. She smiled in triumph when she felt the tell-tale lump. Covering it with one hand she closed her eyes and concentrated with every ounce of will she had, praying silently to purify the small shard.
A small glow encompassed her hand, and began to fade. Kohaku’s pace slowed and then he stopped. Ayla grinned happily and slid down his back. “It worked! I can’t believe it! Kohaku? Are you okay?”
Kohaku turned and gave her a questioning look. “Who... are you? And where are we?”
“No time to explain. We’re in a lot of trouble. We need to leave here, but I can’t do it by myself. Will you help me?”
“Yes. Of course. But I don’t remember this place. I don’t know how to get out of here.”
“That’s okay! I got a tour today and know how to get out of here.” She pointed down the hall. “We go that way.”
Kohaku nodded and lowered himself down again. “Okay.” When she climbed onto his back, he stood up and began to go down the hall.
“Stop right there. You don’t honestly think Naraku would leave you with just him, do you?”
Ayla looked over her shoulder and gave Kagura a sour look. “You could pretend you didn’t see us.”
“Do I look like I have a death-wish?”
“But you don’t like Mister Naraku! I can tell!”
“True, but he can destroy me at will. I will not let that happen.”
Ayla looked at her for a moment, and then smiled. “I can help you.”
Kagura narrowed her eyes. “How?”
~*~*~
Naraku pulled his sword clear and stood ready. “I have no quarrel with you Sesshoumaru. Leave and let me destroy your brother and his friends.”
“As tempting as my brother’s death is, no. I wish to reclaim my daughter. Now call her back, or I will be forced to cut my way through you to her.”
“By all means, you can try.”
As if that were the cue to begin the battle, Sesshoumaru launched himself at Naraku. Naraku raised his blade to deflect the coming blow.
“Oh, Mister Naraku! Can you hear me? Mister Naraku!”
Both fighter’s froze, blades inches apart. They stared at each other for a moment and then turned toward the voice. On the far end of the courtyard, waved Ayla, sitting on Kohaku’s back. They were in front of a hole in the wall.
Ayla, satisfied she had Naraku’s attention, grinned happily at him. “I just wanted to say thank you for your hospitality.” She called out. “Momma would be upset with me if I didn’t show good manners. But I can’t stay. I miss Uncle Souta and I want to go home. Thank you for your kindness!” She waved merrily at him and turned back to gesture Kohaku to go through the wall.
“No, you don’t!” Naraku pulled back his blade, preparing to throw an energy wave at the two children. Kagome gasped and tried to throw herself in front of the blast and Sesshoumaru tried to deflect it with his blade. But Ayla seemed to recall something and swung back. “Oh!” Naraku, startled, froze again.
Ayla smiled at him. “I’d watch out for Kagura if I were you. She’s not happy with you.” She blinked in surprise. “Oh, hi, miss Kagura ma’am. Umm... I’m gonna go now...” Quickly she and Kohaku ducked out the wall.
Naraku swung around and glared furiously at Kagura. “Go after her! Bring her back!”
“No.”
Naraku narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean, no?”
Kagura smiled. She raised her fan and threw wind blades at him. Naraku let the wind slice into him, a murderous rage building inside. “How dare you? Have you forgotten that I hold your life in my hands?”
“Oh? You mean this?” Kagura pulled out the small jar that contained her heart. “It was a gift from Ayla.” As she held the jar, Kanna appeared next to Kagura, holding a similar jar. One after another, Naraku’s detachments appeared, holding their hearts. Naraku took a step back.
Kagura swept her fan down bring a gust of wind that cut through the chain holding the Shikon no Tama around Naraku’s neck. It fell to the ground and rolled to Sesshoumaru’s feet. Sesshoumaru bent and picked it up.
“Take it. I have no need for it. Go. There are many demon’s out there, and Ayla will need more than that boy to protect her. We will take care of Naraku.”
Sesshoumaru gave a slight bow of his head and headed out the gate of the palace, guiding the other’s quickly out. As the gate shut behind them, sounds of a great battle could be heard from the other side.
“Let’s find Ayla.”

Well, I hope I got this part out fast enough. Although it's not as good as it should be. I can't figure out what's wrong with it though. >_< Maybe you guys can figure it out. *sigh*
I also figured out the pairing I'm gonna go with. Thank you all for your imput. But it's obvious that I won't be able to make everyone happy since everyone wants some different pairing. But I hope I make it acceptible for everyone. It will be coming soon! Promise! ^_^
And to Avid Reader, I am SO FLATTERED that you asked if I take requests. ^_^ I'm sorry I haven't emailed you, but I'm terrible at email. Yes, I can take requests. ^_^ That goes for everyone else too!
I'll try to get the next part out within the week. ^_^ Til then, Cheers!
