Shared life chapter number 12 (SORRY ITS LATE)

Kagome rushed toward the death filled scent, hoping that Inuyasha didn't catch a whiff of it. Judging by the weakness of the smell, it was luck that she even found it at all.

The more she kept moving the stronger the putrid scent got. It was a few minutes before she got there but she made the trip walking so she had an excuse to arrive as late as she did. A sudden just of wind blew past her which unwittingly carried Kikyo's scent all the way to Inuyasha.

~Kaede's roof~

Inuyasha bolted up at Kikyos scent. He had to sniff around a bit but eventually he got a solid lock onto her scent. Whithout even noticing that Kagome was missing or without saying a word, Inuyasha bolted off of the hut and made it to the clearing where Kikyo was. He was about to go in but he saw a man with her. So he hid in the bushes and watched. As soon as he was sure he was out of sight, he saw Kagome enter the field upwind of him. He watched...

~Back with Kagome~

Kagome walked into the field to see Kikyo and another man conversing. As soon as she stopped walking they both turned to face her. Both with expressionless voids as faces. Kagome broke the silence.

"Kikyo."

"Why is that you Kagome or did Inuyasha turn into a girl? No it musn't be Inuyasha. And Kagome should be dead. So who are you?"

"It is me, Kikyo. Inuyasha saved my life after you shot me so now I am a hanyou. May I ask who your friend is?" The man spoke for himself when Kagome finished.

"Sameji. What gives you the right to intrude on our conversation?"

"I have an old score to settle with Kikyo there. It is most likely more important than your little talk. Now if you'll excuse us."

"Well if you kill my fiance then I will have to kill you." Inuyasha's eyes widened like saucers at that. Then he realised that he didn't care as much as he would have a month or two ago. Realisation decided to be a bitch and slap him upside the face with a message. 'You don't love her any more. Don't try to fool yourself. You love someone better.' And he knew it was right. Kagome was better by far. He continued his spying...

"Fiance? Kikyo are you planning to break Inuyashas' heart again?" Kagome was really starting to despise Kikyo. She would've killed her then but she didn't want to hurt Inuyasha. That and she wanted to know why Kikyo planned something like that.

"Yes, and as soon as I do, I can trade his life so I can have one of my own. It's quite an annoyance having to collect souls. So using his love as a sacrafice, I can get a life of my own. "

"I see.*evil glare* Well I can't let you hurt him anymore. He's suffered too much because of you. Now for his sake I won't kill you, but instead I will do something else. Something worse."

"Like what? *scoff* You have no weapon. But since I do and as long as you're here, I guess I'll just finish the job of disposing of you from before. You are really starting to be a pest." Kikyo drew her bow and fired while Kagome was off gaurd and unprepared.

Inuyasha was watching in annoyance. Kikyo planed to marry another man and hurt him. 'too bad for her it wont work.' When Kikyo shot, not a second passed before he said the word that would save Kagome's life. He jumped up and spoke and not a moment too soon.

"Kagome, Lay!" *Thump*Swish*

The arrow narrowly missed her as it grazed her hair. Kagome thanked the gods for Inuyasha being there. If he wasn't then she would've been hit by a purification arrow. That would not have been good. But she still swore about being stuck to the ground for so long. She was defenceless like that.

As Kagome was stuck to the ground, Inuyasha walked out in front of her to protect her until the spell wore off. After Kagome stopped swearing and the group of standing people exchanged some deadly glares, Kikyo's icy voice filled the scilence.

"So, Inuyasha, you were here all along. And you are not heart broken? Pity, now I have one more reason to kill that wench. Her death will break your spirit for sure. Then I can have my own life." Kagome stood again after Kikyo finished, but as she straighted herself, Kikyo saw glowing purple eyes, and her aura was purple as well and much larger.

"You will not kill me Kikyo. Woa everything has a purple tint... " Kagome swooned a bit but Inuyasha steadied her.

"Are you ok Kagome?" Inuyashas' tone was laced with worry.

"Fine, it's just that this time I actually made myself do this on purpose. I'm just not used to it, thats all. Now, Kikyo, pick a tree," Kagome materialized a bow and one arrow the same way she made the gun. ", for that tree is where you shall be for a long time." Kikyo didn't have time to react as Kagome shot Kikyo in her heart and stuck her to a Bodhi-tree. Unfortunatly, Kikyo wasn't unconsious.

Kikyo grabbed at the arrow but it wouldn't budge. She spent a good bit of time trying to yank it out but it wouldn't even wiggle. Finally, against her pride, she had asked someone else. As Kagome de-materalised her stuff, Kikyo spoke to Sameji.

"Pull this damn thing out! I don't want to be stuck here forever!" He tried but still nothing. "You! What did you do? You shouldn't have this much power! Get me down! Listen to me and get me off of this tree! Your just a kid! You can't do this!" Inuyasha just watched as Kagome went back to normal and faced Kikyo again. They stared at each other for a bit and Kagome chose to speak first.

"Well Kikyo, only I can get you down. Not even my reincarnation would be able to get you down for they will be human, like I once was. You see, not only does that arrow contain miko energy, but youkai energy as well. So you are stuck. And to think that it was you who caused Inuyasha to give me this power. Well anyway I won't take you down so here are your two choices. Either you go back to hell, or you can stay there for eternity. Living day to day stuck to a tree. For my spell doesn't cause eternal sleep. Mine has more power than that. If you stay there, you will live each day and night awake. For instead of eternal sleep, you will have to spend eternity awake. Fun huh? Now decide Kikyo. What do you chose? The only way off of that tree is a path to hell. You can go whenever you want." Kikyo really didn't want to spend eternity awake so instead of saying anything, she glared at Kagome and vanished into the ground. Her soul stealers following her to the pits of hell.

Sameji just walked off while grumbling about dead wives and making better choices. Kagome on the other hand, felt terrible for making Kikyo leave like that. She was about to say something when the bit of her soul that was in Kikyo suddenly rose up from the ground and shot into her. The connection hit her like a bucket of ice water. She never knew she was so empty inside until just then. Also, all that Kikyo went through with that bit of soul she now knew. And some of it wasn't too pretty. The entire process made her wobble and fall.

"Kagome." Inuyasha was worried that Kagome fell like that. He picked her up and held her in his arms. He then noticed her shocked expression. "What is it?"

"That bit of my soul that came back, it came with all of Kikyo's thoughts and memories that she had since she was resurected. So-*Yawn* some of it is rather disturbing." She yawned again and Inuyasha saw how tired she was.

"That took alot out of you, didn't it Kagome? You should just go to sleep. I'll take you back to Kaedes'."

"Rea- *Yawn* Really? Thank you." She made herself comfortable and as soon as Inuyasha started walking she was fast asleep.

While he was walking, Inuyasha watched Kagome rest. Her ivory white hair reflected the moonlight beautifully and her skin looked like it was glowing. Just then, he thought about the moon. He looked between each the moon and Kagome a couple times, thinking about his human time of the month. Was hers the same as his? He kept thinking for a while until he noticed that he was close to the village. He stopped walking and looked at Kagome. She seemed to sense him and she smiled lazily and breathed his name. He grinned and held her closer. Kagome sighed and Inuyasha walked into the village with his smile never leaving his face.

Inuyasha set Kagome onto her sleeping bag and brushed the hair out of her face. He stood and watched her face frown from lack of contact and she clutched at a pillow. Inuyasha just laughed lightly and went to the roof, completely unaware that Sango and Miroku both saw the whole thing. The two looked at each other with expressions that clearly said 'lets talk when their gone.'

~Kaedes roof, again.~

Inuyasha laid back and looked at the waning crescent in the sky. There were no clouds to obscure his veiw so he saw the moon and all the stars in their glory. Nice and bright. As Inuyasha watched the dark night sky, he thought. He thought of the events from earlier that day with Kikyo and Kagome. He thought of random things like food, his human time, ramen, why the moon was bright, he even debated on weather or not he should take a bath. His mind thought against it though and he stayed put. He thought of his group below him, how much he really , really hated Koga, and of all his other enemy's. Yet of everything he thought of, they all went back to thinking of Kagome, every single one. If he thought of ramen, it turned into Kagome bringing him ramen. He thought of fights which became of how Kagome helped him out so many times. When he thought of his past it transformed into meeting Kikyo which dissolved into getting shot by Kikyo and finished off with Kagome taking out the arrow and freeing him. Finslly he settled on thinking of the person his world revolved around, Kagome.

What was with her miko powers, anyway? She is so strong but very unorthadox. She didn't know a thing about miko powers. Or how to use them. Maybe there were no miko's in the future... no that couldn't be right. Kagome was a miko and from the future. Maybe they were there but no one knew. No no... that couldn't be it, either. Kagome's mom knew of mikos' and she was in the modern era. He rememberd talking to Kaede about her abilities. She didn't know how to use them either. No one in the fudal era was that advanced of a miko to know. How could they learn more? They obviously couldn't find anything in the past, so what about the future?

That was it. If they wanted to learn about it then they'd have to see if a person in the future knows anything about it. Someone there must know if Kagome's mom knew what a miko was. He decided to tell Kagome his plan the next day. Until then he'd just have to wait. He was about to go to sleep when Kagome jumped up onto the roof and sat next to him.

~With Kagome earlier~

Kagome woke feeling guilty, but not sure why, and a little sore all over. As she sat up she remembered what happened with Kikyo and felt awful about it. She resolved to apoligizing to Inuyasha and got up. She stepped outside to see that it was still night and she wasn't out long. After sniffing around a bit, she found Inuyasha on the roof and jumped up next to him.

Inuyasha just sat up and looked at the moon as Kagome started to speak.

"Hey Inuyasha, I'm sorry about what I made Kikyo do. I-"

"Don't be sorry."

"Wha?"

"It needed to be done. You just happened to be the only one willing to do it. Besides, she's not important to me anymore."

"Oh. Well I still feel terrible about it."

"Don't worry. It's over and done with. It was either you or her at that moment and you were more important."

"Thanks Inuyasha." She gave him a big hug and he returned it fully. After a moment or two Kagome pulled away blushing slightly.

"So uhh Inuyasha I'm gonna go back to sleep now ok? Goodnight." And before she thought to much into it, she gave him a quick peck on the cheek and went back inside. Still blushing, Kagome fell into a peaceful slumber.

Inuyasha sat there for a while, thinking of her little kiss. He smiled lightly and laid back to rest for the next day.
