Shared life chapter number 14 *finally*
Kagome watched Koga leave at a normal pace for a wolf, which was still faster than she thought. After he was out of sight she turned toward Kaedes hut to see everyone standing outside the door watching. Inuyasha spoke before anyone else had a chance.
"How long have you all been there." Miroku spoke for everyone.
"Well, Mia and I were here from when Kagome and Koga started fighting. Kaede came out when Kagome stuck Koga to the ground, and Sango, Shippo, and Kirara just came out a moment ago. We saw quite a bit but you were too far away for us to hear anything."
"Oh ok." They all just stood there at a loss of what to do. Eventually Kaede walked inside, muttering something about making breakfast. Mia followed in hopes of helping and Sango soon followed with Kirara and Shippo on her tail. Miroku just sighed and said he would be at the river. Then it was just Kagome and Inuyasha. Inuyasha jumped onto the roof knowing that Kagome would follow. They sat and Kagome decided to stroke up a conversation.
"Hey Inuyasha, I just noticed this while I was wrapping up Koga, but I have very few clothing left that fit me. We need to go to my time to get some. Ok?"
"Thats fine. Kagome, do you think there's anyone in your era that might know about advanced mikos?"
"In my time? Well I don't know any but we might be able to find one. But why do... Oh so we can find out about my powers right?"
"Yea... we'll leave after breakfast. We'll get you some clothes and then we can look for a person that might know about great mikos." Inuyasha jumped down and went inside as Kagome sat on the roof. He may not have noticed, but he just dished out a nice compliment just then. Kagome grinned and went down to eat.
~Later in the future~
Kagome and Inuyasha hopped out of the well together at around mid-day. They stepped inside without muttering a word. They were too busy thinking about finding a person who knew about mikos.
When they got inside they both got a big hug from Ms. H. She saw their expressions and decided to speak up.
"Hey you two whats on your mind?" Kagome spoke for the both of them.
"Well, do you know of a way to find someone who knows about mikos?"
"No dear, I'm sorry to say that I don't."
"Oh. Well can I borrow some money? I barely have any clothes that fit me anymore." Her mother agreed and gave her some money. After they redressed Inuyasha and got some hats they said their goodbyes and went to get Kagome some new clothes.
She got a few different outfits. Her favorite one was the outfit she chose to wear to the feudal era.
Her top consisted of a red wife beater and red and black striped wristbands that went from her elbows to her hands. They were a little long so she made a thumb hole in each so she could wear them over her palms. Her pants were just black shorts that were cut off at the knee. She also got black boots that were suprisingly comfortable and laced up to mid calf. She only got those to wear in her time though. Lately she has been finding shoes very confining.
"Hey, Inuyasha,"
"Yea?"
"Why do my shoes feel so confining now?"
"My guess would be because demons are wild or because you can't feel the ground. Since you now half demon your feet are tough enough to walk around barefoot."
"Oh." They paid for the clothing and headed to a hotdog stand. They both ate a hotdog and then went to the park to think of a way to find a miko specialist.
After a while of thinking they still had no ideas. As soon as they thought of leaving Yuka and Ayumi showed up. Ayumi was busy eating an ice cream cone so Yuka spoke for the both of them.
"Kagome, how nice to see you. How are you two?"
"Okay I guess. Hey you know what a miko is, right?"
"Yeah... I've heard of them but I've never met one."
"Great, do you know any one at all that might know a thing or two about mikos?" Yuka stopped to think about that. Why would Kagome want to know about mikos? While Yuka thought, Ayumi jumped into the conversation.
"Have you tried the phone book? Or maybe the police station? They might know something."
"Thanks guys. I'll keep that in mind."
"Ok well anyway, they found Hojo and his brothers! They were all buried together in the forest by your shrine. Isn't that sad? Well they don't know much about it either," Yuka sighed as Ayumi told Kagome and Inuyasha the news of Hojo. "The murderers are completely unknown and there are no leads. They say that they might of been attacked by some sort of animal, but that may not be true because some had bruses in the shape of a fist and others had cracked necks. But it doesn't explain the claw marks. It's just a big mystery.... The only reason they found them was because one of their dogs got loose and sniffed 'em out." Ayumi sighed as she finished relaying the news. Inuyasha just sat there with the faintest traces of a smirk gracing his features. Lucky for him, Kagome didn't notice.
Kagome faked being sad as she gave her bull excuse to leave. "Man that's sad.... Well I'm sorry that we can't stay longer but Inuyasha and I still have nuch to do today and its getting late. I'll call you later, ok?"
"Okay ... Bye Kagome. Inuyasha." The girls waved as Kagome and Inuyasha walked off. After a while Inuyasha spoke to Kagome.
"Hey Kagome, where are we going?"
"Home."
"Why?"
"Inu I'm tired. Tomorrow we'll find the miko specialist but today is almost over so I would like to sleep. Alright?"
"Right." Inuyasha was quiet for most of the way to the shrine but when they reached the bottem of the long stairway, Inuyasha spoke to Kagome again.
"Why did you call me earlier Inu? And when Koga came over?" Inuyasha was thinking about that at the park after he got sick of thinking of a way to find a miko specialist. It kept bugging him so he decided to ask about it.
Kagome stopped and thought for a moment. Eventually though, she came to a conclusion in her head and kept moving. Inuyasha was about to ask her again when she started to talk.
"Well Inu, it's shorter than Inuyasha and easier to say." Kagome didn't want to tell him that it was one of her pet names for him just yet. So she said something else. "do you not liked being called Inu? I'll stop if you don't like it."
"It's fine. It's what my mother called me.... Hey, if you can call me Inu, can I call you Kag? It's easier to say." That and it was one of HIS pet name for her.
"Sure. It makes me think of my father... he was the only person who ever called me Kag. He was the only one who ever thought of it, I guess."
"Oh. Well I'll call you Kag now."
They reached the top of the steps and were greeted with a sunset to the west. Kagome stood still and watched it for a moment. Inuyasha noticed her and stopped next to her to take in the sight. It was a beautiful array of pinks, reds, purples, and some orange hues. It was a breathtaking site. After a few moments, Kagome started to walk foward again to the house with Inuyasha following her.
They got inside to see Gramps cleaning the dinner dishes while Mrs. H dried. Sota was playing video games in the tv room and could be heard from down the hall. Mrs.H saw them and left Gramps to finish the dishes while she went to greet them.
"Hey you two. What have you been up to?" Kagome tried to speak but a yawn interrupted her so Inuyasha spoke for the both of them.
"We sat at the park thinking of a way to find a miko specialist for most of the after noon. Kagome got some more clothing , which is in these bags." Inuyasha lifted his hand to reveal three clothing bags that Kagome would've left at the park if he didn't grab them.
Kagome, now able to speak, decided to take over talking to her mother and Inuyasha. "Hey Mom I'm just going to take a bath and go to sleep. Inuyasha you can just wait in my room or something. Ok? " Kagome didn't wait for a response as she headed up the stairs to get some pajamas and head toward the bath.
Inuyasha just nodded to Mrs. H and went to Kagomes room. When he got there he didn't know what to do so he just layed down on the bed. As soon as he got comfortable he noticed just how tired he was. He closed his eyes to rest and was soon in a peaceful slumber.
Kagome spent her merry time in the bath but soon the water got cold and she had to get out. She dried off, changed, and brushed both her hair and teeth. She cleand up her little mess and dragged herslef to her room.
She walked in to find Inuyasha curled up in a ball on her bed sleeping like a baby. She smiled softly and curled up at his feet on the bed, not really caring that they were so close. She personally enjoyed having his scent so close. She sighed and right before she fell into her slumber, she mumbled a few words and moved closer. "My Inu."
Inuyasha woke as Kagome curled up on the bed and heard her call him hers. He grinned and moved so that his face was close to hers and fell back into one of the most peaceful slumbers he had in a long, long time.
