CHAPTER SEVEN

Back at the Shrine

 

Inuyasha stood at the lip of the well and glared into its depths. Where the hell was she? Kagome had been gone for six days. SIX DAYS! He couldn't take it anymore. He had baited himself for this, he realized. Kagome had knew that he was seeing Kikyo in her absence. So she did what she always did. She ran away.

 

Inuyasha worried at what a coward she was. Then he mentally slapped himself. Kagome faced down what no other humans could. He felt a weight on his shoulders.

 

He'd done it again, hadn't he? Inuyasha sucked up his courage and jumped into the well. He felt the familiar shifting of one time to another and hit the ground. Then he lunged himself upwards again and back out of the well. He was suddenly repulsed by the scents of the city.

 

He made his way to her house and noticed something. Her scent was missing. Inuyasha frowned and went to go through the door, but he remembered something that she had told him before about barging into places..and knocked.

 

Kagome's mother answered the door. She didn't look too pleased to see him. "She's not here." She snapped. He jumped, startled. When had Kagome's mother begun to resent him, he wondered.

 

"Where is she?" He asked.

 

"Not here." She said again and slammed the door in his face.

 

Inuyasha snorted and ran around to the back of the house. He jumped up to the second floor and checked Kagome's window. Just as he thought, it was unlocked. He grinned and slipped in. Her scent barely lingered on her things, making him frown. Where was she? She must have been gone long ago.

 

He knew the houe quite well now and snuck across the hall to Souta's room. "Hey, Souta!" He said, quietly.

 

"Inuyasha!" Souta exclaimed with a wide grin.

 

"Shhh!!!" Inuyasha hissed. Souta shut his mouth and looked up at his idol with a questioning gaze. "Where's Kagome?" He whispered.

 

Souta frowned. "I'm not suppose to tell ya." He said. "She moved somewhere."

 

"Where?" Inuyasha said, more impatiently.

 

Souta bit his lip. "I can't!" He said, regretfully.

 

"Please?!" The hanyou begged.

 

Souta couldn't resist. "With Aunt Yuri." Inuyasha listened intently as Souta explained how he thought to get there. Inuyasha just followed the direction that he thought it was in and followed his nose from there.

 

"I'm coming Kagome." He whispered with all his heart.

 

It was too bad for him that Kagome had almost stopped thinking about Inuyasha at all.

Okay so it wasn't the best Chapter ever, but oh well.
