Chapter Six
Kagome's Wrath

"Give it to me, Dark!" Kagome repeated.

He came out of his stupor and started laughing. "You think I would just hand this over to anybody? I stole it. It's mine."

Kagome laughed, mocking him. "Wrong." She loosed her arrow and had another in its place as that one gazed his shoulder. It gave off a blinding light that was enough to scare him, even though she had held back. "Now!" She repeated.

He frowned and place a hand on his bloody shoulder. "A priestess then." He whispered. "I thought as much. What would you need with this silly jewel?"

That had done it. Kagome felt anger rise in her throat as she shakily replied to to the arrogant male. "I am it's protecter. It is rightfully mine!" No, her mind told her spitefully. It's Kikyo's jewel, remember. She would keep lying anyway. That's what she had always done.

Her vision blurred as she thought of the things she had said to Inuyasha. I understand, Inuyasha. and As long as I can stay by your side, I'll be happy. and I don't hate Kikyo. She felt the tears coming before they left her eyes. "Give me the damn jewel!" She screamed.

"WHY." He said again, evenly.

"So I can be better than her! So that I can have something that she doesn't!" Kagome dropped her bow and snatched the necklace off of her neck. "All I have is this and what good does it do me?! Now give me the fucking jewel before I purify your friggen ass!"

Forgetting herself, Kagome lunged angrily at the thief. He caught her halfway and she didn't miss the pity in his eyes. She fell onto his shoulder and sobbed. She cried and cried and repeated the same word over and over. "Inuyasha."

Kagome opened her eyes and felt the familiar presence of a demonic aura. She liked that feeling, even though it wasn't Inuyasha who sat by her side, and even though she didn't know this person, she was content with that of something familiar.

She sat up and took note of her surroundings. She was on a lumpy couch in a normal living room with the smell of bacon in the air. Kagome glanced over at the boy, more man, who was sleeping in the chair next to her. Dark was smexy, she thought. Or maybe it was just the aura. She couldn't tell.

In that instant, he opened his eyes and yawned sleepily. "You're awake." He said smiling softly. "Good morning."

Kagome blushed and looked away. She had some explaining to do, but the fact of the matter was that she didn't want to. "Mornin, Dark." She said without smiling back.

"Inuyasha, huh?" He chuckled and then he surprised her. "I'm not gonna ask you about it as long as you don't ask me. That jewel is mine. I'll take good care of it. So don't worry."

"I don't care." Kagome hissed. "Keep it."

He gave her a you're kinda weird look, but she ignored it. "Your..uh..bow is over there. School started about an hour ago. I wouldn't bother-"

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" She practically screamed. She jumped up and ran for the door. Dark panicked. "Don't! It's dangerous-"

She opened the door and was immediately shoved back by a very intimidating looking woman. "Dark, why is there a girl in my living room that I don't know?" She snapped.

He shrugged, looking somewhat relieved that the "girl" didn't get further than that. He gave a brief explanation. "She wanted the jewel."

"Hmph." The woman seemed to calm down a bit. "Well, hon, neither of you are going to school, today." Kagome figured that she was mostly talking to her. But she did wonder how a phantom thief got away with going to school.

Dark looked rather upset by this. "But Emiko!
