Note from author: The rating is actually a bit extreme. I was just trying to be cautious. Oh well, I'm trying to get as much of this thing out of my system as possible, so enjoy.

Chapter Two
Change

"Who is that girl, Riku?" Risa asked her twin.

"Don't you pay any attention, Risa?" Riku asked reproachfully. She rolled her eyes and wondered at where her sister's mind had been. "Her name is Kagome. She's from Tokyo."

"Oh. Why is she sitting by Daisuke?" She asked.

Riku shrugged. "It was the only open seat. Takeshi was absent today." Risa watched Riku as she constantly glanced over at Daisuke and the new girl. Ah. So Riku was jealous. And there Niwa Daisuke sat with that silly grin on his face, as if he hadn't a care in the world. Risa wondered how he could do it.

She felt bad for him. He was such a pushover, yet so sweet and kind. Nothing compared to Dark. Risa smiled as his name floated, as it so often did, across her mind.

She let her mind drift off into dreamland.

Kagome struggled with the math problems. She had disliked Inuyasha before, but now she hated him for letting his stupid presence get in the way of her school work. She read the directions again. Write the quadratic formula in the blank below, then apply it to the following problems to solve. What the friggen hell was the "quadratic formula"? She had no idea.

This new school wasn't any different than her old one, it seemed. Kagome noticed that the people in the seats ahead of her seemed so at ease with eachother. They were quietly comparing their work with one another's and talking about bits and pieces of their own interests. Kagome huffed up her courage and asked the kid beside her. "Can you help me please?" She said to the red haired, red eyed boy beside her.

He glanced over and grinned sheepishly. "Well, I can try. I'm honestly probably as lost as you are." He really was just as lost. They tried to figure it out for a while, but eventually the boy just gave up. "Riku?" he called to a short haired girl across the room. She lurched out of her seat and came over faster than Kagome thought was necessary. "Yes, Daisuke?" She said with a sweet smile.

"We don't get it." He said frowning. "Can you help?"

To Kagome, the girl seemed a bit discouraged by the "we" announcement, but she helped anyway. "Okay. The quadratic formula is negative b, plus or minus the square root of b-squared minus four times a times c, divided by two times a." Kagome scratched down what the girl just said.

She looked at it and was suddenly enlightened. "OH! It's usage of the pythagoreom thereom. Right?" She asked.

Riku nodded. "Sure is. Do you get it now?"

"Yeah, but what's with the plus or minus thing?" Kagome sat and listened intently as the girl explained. At the end of that class, Kagome was feeling much better. She even helped out the red haired boy. "I'm Daisuke, by the way." He said smiling.

"Kagome." She responded and looked down at her schedule. "History next."

Daisuke beamed. "Me too. I'll walk you." He said. She followed him out.
About ten seconds later, she asked him, "So that Riku girl really likes you, huh?"

He blushed darkly and Kagome stopped walking. What was that she had just felt? She caught back up to him to hear his answer. "Well I hope so." He said uncertainly. There. That was it again. A demonic aura emanating from him, however briefly, it was strong.

Kagome tried to ignore it. It reminded her too much of...other things. "What about you?" He said, gazing off at nothing. He was no longer smiling. "Was there someone you liked back at your old shcool."

Her gaze darkened as white hair and amber eyes appeared in her mind's eye. "Nn..." was all she said.

"We're here!" Daisuke said, suddenly happy again. He led her into a noisy classroom. This one lacked the girl called Riku, but it came with another girl who looked just like her. She had been in the other class too.

All demonic aura disappated. Kagome relaxed and went to sit behind Daisuke and beside the Riku look-a-like. "I'm Risa." She introduced with a smile. "Riku's sister."

Kagome forced a smile. And shook the girl's hand.

All of this would take some getting use to.

She only hoped that she could handle it.
