Chapter Three
What She Knew
"Kagome Higurashi." said the English teacher. "You're from the Higurashi shrine in Tokyo, am I correct?"
Kagome turned her attention to the english teacher. He was a young man straight out of college. He was by far the best looking teacher she'd ever had. "Yes sir." She replied mechanically.
"Well then, I'd expect you're quite adept in history."
"Somewhat." She said uncertainly. "More with certain areas of it."
Everyone's attention was on her now. She felt like she might faint. Kagome Higurashi didn't really like being singled out.
"We'll be studying about the Inutaisho. Do you know anything about that?"
He may as well have thrown a rock at her. Dammit. She was trying to forget Inuyasha, not constantly remind herself of him. "I'm well educated on the Inutaisho," and she added out of spite, "And his two sons, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha."
The teacher beamed at her and she found that she could no longer be unhappy with him. "Brilliant." He chortled. "Why don't you tell us all that you know? Come. Come stand up here. Don't worry I don't bite." He said to her hesitance.
Kagome slowly walked to the front of the room and tried to make it sound professional. Or at least book-learned. "The Inutaisho had two sons: Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha. The Inutaisho died from wounds inflicted by a demon called Ryokutsusei. He left heirlooms to his sons. Inuyasha got the sword tetsusaiga and Sesshoumaru got the sword Tenseiga. The third sword's location was unknown, but it was called Sounga. Is that enough?" She asked, turning to the teacher. Kagome frowned as his widespread grin. He was obviously impressed.
So was everyone else. Oh great, Kagome thought, I've been subjected to being "teacher's pet". "Do you know more?" The teacher asked eagerly.
Kagome, although reluctant, nodded. With his signal, she continued. "Sesshoumaru coveted Inuyasha's sword and often tried to steal it from him, Inuyasha, however was dealing with many problems of his own." She forgot herself in her words and only her smallest bit of conciousness would resist her telling them everything.
She continued. "Inuyasha fell in love with a priestess. She was the holder of the Shikon no Tama and wanted him to use it to become fully human. He was a half demon, you see." Kagome sighed sadly. "But they were tricked into killing eachother and Kikyo took the jewel with her to the grave..."
"That's plenty for now, Kagome. Please take your seat." The teacher interrupted.
Kagome slowly made her way back to her seat, not wondering at the teacher's sudden interruption. Risa and Daisuke were fully aware of her distress. Risa asked as the teacher started to lecture, "What's wrong Kagome?"
Kagome frowned. "He wouldn't forget her." She whispered and clutched the purple beads that were laying around her neck. "And neither will I." She said with sudden heat. And at that moment, she wished that she had left the beads on Inuyasha's stupid neck.
