Chapter Four
Dark and Daisuke
"What do you think of Kagome, Dark?" Daisuke asked mentally.
Dark was hidden in the bowels of his thoughts. He shrugged and answered, bored, "She's alright. I mean, why get all emotional over something that happened that long ago though?"
"I dunno." Daisuke said. "But I kinda wonder why she moved." He was walking home, procrastinating the obstacle course that his mother would've set up today. Dark was being unusual about the new girl. "What's wrong dark?"
He didn't sound happy. "I'm not sure. Kagome seemed to be different from other people, ya know? I think she got a whiff of me, today?"
Daisuke grimaced as his choice of words. "God, you're vain."
"I am not!!" Dark exclaimed. "And that's not what I meant!"
"So what did you mean?" Daisuke asked, outloud this time. "What sort of person could just up and know that you're there?"
"Well....there are some...and it caught my attention when she said it, but-"
"But what?" Daisuke said, impatiently.
"A priestess." Dark finally replied. "They reside by spiritual powers. There's no doubt that a priestess could sense my aura. And today when she asked you about Riku, it sort of seeped out just a bit."
"Oh yeah, I felt it take. That's why I changed the subject so fast." He frowned. "She's good at talking to people."
"No. You're just a pushover."
"Am not!!!" Daisuke growled.
Dark huffed, amused. "Whatever. So what did Emiko want us to get tonight?"
Daisuke didn't want to think about getting even more behind in his work, but to his Mother, stealing came first. "You'll love this." He said, frowning. "She wants us to take the Shard of Shikon at ten. She sent out the warning notice at noon today." He sighed.
Dark was beginning to worry. "Dai?"
"Hmm?"
"Let me take over for now." He ordered.
Daisuke grinned slightly, thinking of how nice it would to not have to nearly get killed repeatedly just to get into his own house. Dark was really a pain sometimes, but he could also be quite the friend. "Thanks, Dark." He said, pulling a picture of Riku from his bag. "Anytime, Daisuke." The response had mixed meanings, but he got it all the same.
