CHAPTER TWELVE
A BAD SETTING AND A WORSE FIGHT
Kagome stomped outside, raving mad. She was followed by about half of the school, it seemed. There was quite a racket going on outside in the school courtyard. Kagome walked onto it and froze.
Red and blue lights flashed everywhere. Even in the sun, their rays could leave one seeing spots for minutes at a time. It was enough to give the once-miko a headache. Police officers were everywhere at once, surrounding the battle zone. And it was a battle zone because two very unusual people were throwing blows at eachother in a very violent display of combat.
Kagome looked up and her brown eyes caught the miraculous sight of students practically hanging out of the windows two and three stories up just to get a piece of the action. Those who had hearded out to watch were mostly a mass of giddy fangirls who were only getting in the way.
She turned to watched as the hanyou and the thief matched eachother perfectly. Dark, with Wiz as his wings, showered the hanyou with a thousand spells of power that were mostly illusion. Inuyasha had tetsusaiga at the ready. He wielded it as usual, much like trying to swing a very sharp log at his opponent. But Inuyasha was quick and, undoubtfully, strong. He swept at Dark determined to win, as Dark did to him.
Kagome grimaced at this act of male stupidity. Here was the Phantom Thief Dark in broad daylight dallying with a man with white hair and dog ears. The media would have a fit with this. And what was it, Kagome wondered, that was so enticing about fighting to them? What was worse was the object of their goals.
Kagome.
She realized that she was in the center of this display and probably at fault. She was a girl involved with things too complicated to comprehend and now the cause of everything seemed to lay at her blaming.
Kagome needed a plan.
Looking around frantically, she realized that she had nothing to use. She could've done wonders with a bow right now. Unfortunately, the only things she had were the clothes on her back and the beads at her throat, and they would only be useful if she could get them around Inuyasha's neck again. Kagome shrugged. Well, she could try.
As long as she did before this fight got too out of hand. For example, if Inuyasha lost his temper and used the Kaze no Kizu(Wind Scar or Scar of the Wind) on Dark, then other people would either freak or get hurt and she really didn't need that right now.
Kagome had to think really hard to come up with a solution. And finally she got it. She turned and ran back into the school, leaving the men to theirselves.

"Hey, Dark, Kagome ran inside!" Daisuke pointed out from inside of the Phantom Thief. "What's the point of this? You're going to get us in trouble again!"
Dark hissed to his inner self. "I don't care where she went! I won't let this bastard hurt her. You saw her that night! She cried herself sick!" Dark's expression blackened. "And I won't let that happen again!" He let out a particularly strong wave of magic upon the hanyou, who flew back at the impact.
Daisuke whimpered from inside Dark's mind. "I can't take very much more of this! You know what using your magic does to me! I won't be able to move for days!"
"I know! I know, okay?!" Dark grumbled in protest and dodged Inuyasha's mighty sword again. "She has a plan. I'm just waiting for it to work. Kagome wasn't kidding. This idiot is strong." Dark frowned, mightily. "You don't think that he was the one who she thinks looks better than me, do you?"
"You're so arrogant." Dai mumbled. "And...well, no. I wouldn't think so. But I'm really not one to judge." He moaned as Dark barely dodged a blow to his arm. "I'm not letting you out for days after this." He said.
"I think I'll understand." Dark said outloud and laughing this time.

Kagome stood at the ledge of the school roof and was having a wave of second thoughts. She had thought that she was over her fear of heights, which didn't technically compare to hurling yourself madly over a building, but still. This was the only idea she had? Did that make her crazy?
Shrugging, she closed her eyes...
And jumped, screaming all the way, until something caught her in mid air. She clamored out happily, "Inuyasha?!" But when her eyes flew open, it certainly wasn't the hanyou whose arms were wrapped so possesively around her middle.
"Maybe I should just drop you!" Dark snapped, purple eyes flickering angrily. "Are you mad?!"
"Damn you, Dark!" She growled. "Inuyasha was supposed to catch me!"
"Pfft!" Dark sneered. "Then maybe I'll just pass you onto him!" His grip slipped ever so slightly and Kagome looked down. And gasped. "Don't you friggen dare!" She yelled. They were about twenty feet off the ground.
"Let her go, asshole!" Inuyasha said from below. Kagome managed to squirm around as to get a look at him. The hanyou was looking absolutely furious. Will it ever end? Kagome thought. "GO AWAY, INUYASHA!" She exclaimed rather loudly.
"Kagome, don't make me do something stupid!" He yelled back.
"YOU'RE ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING STUPID!" Dark leaned away from her, with her still in his grasp. He felt pity for his poor ears. This day wasn't going the way he had planned it at all. First off, there was this mutt to take care of. Kagome was being annoying as usual, and there were cops practically everywhere. For Dark, that was a major issue.
Kagome was still wailing at the stupid half demon and Dark was getting impatient. "Should I just leave you two alone? I really-"
"SHUT UP, DARK!" Kagome turned her wrath on him. He glared at her. "I HAVE MY OWN DAMN PROBLEMS! SO WHY AM I STICKING UP FOR YOU! WHY DO YOU KEEP CLINGING TO ME?" Wait, he thougth bemused, that was a dumb question. Everyone tried to cling to him. Most failed. Okay then, new come back. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" Great. Arguing with a chick in broad daylight. Not great.
"BECAUSE YOU HAVE A SHARD OF THE JEWEL AND I NEED IT AND I DO ACTUALLY LIKE YOU, YA KNOW?" She spat.
Really? Now, wasn't that interesting. "Oh." He replied. "Well, if you wanted the shiney, you should've just asked."
"I DID ASK!"
"No, you threatened me and failed miserably." he retorted.
Kagome sighed in defeat, that was until Inuyasha made himself reknown. "HE HAS A SHARD OF THE JEWEL!?" he whined.
Kagome frowned at Dark, a question in her eyes that he read perfectly. "Fine! Fine!" He said, lowering them to the ground. "You're heavy anyway." It was probably to his advantage that Kagome didn't hear him. Instead, she distangled herself from his arms and started walking towards Inuyasha. It was then that he noticed that she had that weird strand of beads hiding behind her back and he wondered just what she'd use them for.
He got his answer.

Inuyasha watched Kagome approach him. She had angered him quite thoroughly. But now she had that look on her face. It was the look that said she had decided to forgive him. He hated that expression. To make matters worse, the world was watching. There were cameras set up everywhere. The police and all of Kagome's new school was watching. It was like one of those moments in the movie "The Hulk", where the world watched the woman tame the beast with one sad smile.
"Inuyasha," she sighed. He looked down at her hopefully. A long silence followed and he thought that she was going to cry, but she didn't. She did something much worse. Before he could stop her, she smirked and pulled the enchanted beads from behind her back and shoved them over Inuyasha's head. She could hear people gasping all around her, as if what she had done was some sort of miracle, but they hadn't seen nothing yet.
Kagome was grinning insanely when she took one step back and yelled at the top of her lungs, "SIT!"
Suddenly, the world was silent, excluding a stream of curses as Inuyasha's body plundered into the ground. He layed flat on his face. Kagome was suddenly quite intent to give him an explanation for his punishment. "I LEFT YOU BECAUSE I WANTED TO! YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING HERE! AND DON'T THINK YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YOU TWO TIMING JERK! GO HOME AND GET AWAY FROM ME! I'LL BRING YOU THE FRIGGEN JEWEL WHEN I DAMN WELL FEEL LIKE IT! AND DON'T COME PICKING ON DARK AGAIN!(~ did she really have to say that?~Dark wonders from behind)SCAMPER ON BACK TO KIKYO AND TELL THE OTHERS THAT I'M SORRY, BUT I'M STAYING HERE!"
"KAGOME!" He snatched his head up and protested. Or tried to.
"SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT! SIT BOY!" At this point, even Dark was feeling pretty bad for the guy. Kagome did have quite a temper.
He snuck up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Um....Kags?"
She whirled around and glared with a force that almost knocked him over. "WHAT?" She demanded.
"Um, you can take care of everything. I really gotta go!" He said, smiling innocently before jumping into the air and soaring away on black wings. Kagome was content to yell at him for the next hour, but she had other things to worry about. She looked up just as the Principal and the Chief of Police were walking towards her.
"Shit." She mumbled with a frown. There was a terrible amount of gasping as she heard movement from behind her. Kagome turned in astonishment as the hanyou scowled hatefully at her and sheathed his sword. "I'll be back." he mouthed, before lurching himself into the air. Kagome was shocked to amazement.
Dark was gone. Inuyasha was gone. She was all alone. And in a heap of trouble.
Kagome turned her head to stare at the hundreds of people who were surrounding her. She raised her head high. And took everything they could throw at her.
