CHAPTER SEVENTEEN (AT LAST!)
TRIO FOLLY

Kagome jumped down the well. Inuyasha held her hand and offered a smile. She grinned in return. When they got through to the other side, their friends were waiting for them. They celebrated Kagome's arrival.

Dark pounded on the door of Kagome's house. Her mother was a patient and kind woman, but she could not tolerate this. She opened the door and stared at one of the strangest men she had ever layed eyes on. True, he was strikingly gorgeous and secretly, she thought, oh my! He looks far better than Inuyasha!

Then she mentally scolded herself. A mother should not be thinking such things. But I am single. She added to the cause. Ahh, but he's too young for me! When Dark began to speak, she bit her lip. Damn he's soooo smexy!

Unaware of Kagome's mother's inner turmoils, Dark babbled on. "..so we need to know how to get to the fuedal era and save Kagome from that ruddy bastard hanyou!"

"Hm?" Ms. Higurashi said with a tilt of her head. Dark noted her reaction as one he'd seen many times from females in his presence. Sighing, Dark leaned forward and turned on some of the charm. "Miss Higurashi.." He cooed. "Won't you tell me where to find Kags?"

She was entranced. "Through the well in the wellhouse. Kagome's on the other side..." She leaned forward, but Dark was already zipping towards the well.

Ms. Higurashi scowled. Why is it that my daughter gets all the good men? She crossed her arms and went back inside, slamming the door in her wake.

Meanwhile, Dark was falling through time, into the land on the other side of the well....where his darling Kagome was.

Kagome giggled as Inuyasha attempted to shove twenty bowls of rice down his throat at once. After Miroku had implied that Inuyasha didn't eat enough, he had decided that he'd make up for it by eating all the rice. Kaede was scowling at the hanyou and repeatedly wacking him on the head with a cane.

Sango, Miroku, and Shippo were having fits of laughter. Kirara was nowhere to be seen, however. And Kagome...she was almost content with being in the past again. There were two things on her mind. The first was Dark. His smiling face kept flashing into her view and leaving her breathless and feeling very guilty. Well, he did say that he loved me. And I did just leave him. But I don't love him, so it's okay...right? The second thing on her mind was the presence that she was sensing. A shikon shard was drawing near, and it was coming fast.

Kagome had plenty of an idea of who it was. Kouga would make his appearance eventually and Kagome just figured that everyone else would figure it out when he got there. He'd probably upset with Inuyasha for chasing her away for so long.

But what was that other thing that she kept sensing on the wind. She couldn't quite figure out what it was, until- Inuyasha's ears perked up and he dropped his bowl of rice. The hanyou began scowling fiercely. "What's wrong Inuyasha? Had one too many?" Miroku chided. Then the monk froze and looked to the woods off in the distance. Sango was starting to catch it too. "Inuyasha?" the taijiya turned to him with a frown.

"Sesshoumaru..." he replied. "Kagome, can you sense it?" He whipped his head around.

"Uh-huh..." she whispered. "And his aura is-"

"It's spiking, I think." Miroku frowned thoughtfully at the ground. "He's near transformation. I'd wager that the taiyoukai is very angry at something, or he is sensing..."

"Naraku?" Sango finished. "Could be..." He crossed his arms. "But if Inuyasha's not sensing anything, then would that really be it?"

Inuyasha shrugged, somewhat offended. It didn't seem fair that Sesshoumaru could sense things better than he could. Something caught the breeze and the hanyou jumped to his feet. "Kouga?!"

"I felt him coming too." Kagome added. She had almost forgotten. "What's going on I wonder?" Kagome's pulse jumped as a powerful aura overwhelmed her. She recognized it and groaned. "Oh no!"

"What is it?" Everyone was standing now and Shippo was staring wide eyed at her.

Inuyasha cursed violently. "How did he get here, Kagome?"

She felt her shoulders slump. "He must have..." Realization struck her. She pulled out her jar of shikon shards and began counting them. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... Well he is a thief. She reminded herself, as she clarified the seventh jewel missing.

"He didn't!" Inuyasha was glaring towards the well.

"He's a master thief, Inuyasha!" She snapped. "And he's really not all that bad!"

"Bah!" The hanyou drew tetsusaiga. "This will not end well." She hissed. Then she decided what she had to do. Kagome took a deep breath. "DARK! I'M OVER HERE!" Everyone turned to her looking faintly astonished.

A figure burst from the tops of the trees. This figure had his wings spread high and a glare on his face. "Kagome! You friggen moron!" Dark flew straight towards her and dropped to the ground. He embraced her momentarily before shedding his fury at the hanyou. "You..(*ahem..well he said some very unpleasant things*)..hanyou!"

Inuyasha and Dark yelled at eachother for about five minutes before Kouga showed up. Oh boy...thought the others who were watching this whole scene unfold. Kouga joined the argument, first snapping at Inuyasha for losing Kagome and then demanding to know who the hell Dark was. Of course, Dark cockily explained who he was, causing more drama to unfold.

Then, when it seemed that they might start ripping eachother's limbs off, Sesshoumaru lept out of nowhere and distracted them long enough for Inuyasha to get a punch on Dark. A violent bout of punches, kicks, and many other causes of bruises and bleeding ocurred.

Sesshoumaru glared at the three, who had forgotten about him, and wandered over to join the bystanders. He loomed over Kagome, and she concluded that he was wanting the details. She shrugged and gave a short explanation. "They all like me. Inuyasha already has me, but Kouga likes me and he showed up because I disappeared. While I was gone I met Dark.*she pointed to make him understand who she was talking about*He ended up liking me, too. So when Inuyasha dragged me back here, Kouga showed up to meet me and Dark followed me. So now they're fighting."

Sesshoumaru gave her an uninterested, "Hn." before silently leaving the way he came. Kagome imagined him frolicing away carelessly. Sesshoumaru may not have seemed like it, but he really was a lighthearted spirit. (*snort*)

The miko turned back to the fighting trio. She had to stop this...and she only know one way how...
