Chapter 2

Disclaimer: I don't own IY! Thanks for reminding me!

Sessh walked around his new store, his baby. He had finally done it. His dream. Sessh had always wanted to open his own clothing store. His father hadn't been exactly supportive and his half brother made it a point to call him gay.
“Just because a man has an interest in fashion, that does not make him gay.” He muttered to himself. “That makes him a chick magnet!”. He stopped and fixed a display. He stepped back and admired it. That's when he heard the voices outside of his store.
“Well, I see they're not catering to the skinny ho-bag crowd.” A female voice sounded.
Sessh smiled and called out, “And why would I do that?” He peeked around the display and saw two young women, maybe mid-twenties, standing in front of his store, looking in. He walked up to the front of the store. “Hi, can I help you?”
“Oh, hi! I'm Cathy Foglesong and this is my friend, business partner and pain in the ass, Deidre Schroyer. We own the salon down the hall.” Cathy stuck out her hand and Sessh shook it. He turned and looked at Deidre. “Deidre. That's a beautiful name. It fits you.”
Deidre blushed and then mentally yelled at herself. Outwardly she said, “Thanks.”
“Let me introduce myself. I'm Sesshomaru Aihara. People just call me Sessh, though. Much easier.” He smiled. “Would you like to see my store?”
“We would love to, but we don't want to take up anymore of your time, and Dee here, has to finish up some paperwork at the salon. We just wanted to swing down and say welcome to hell, I mean, the mall.” Cathy said. “But we'll definitely stop down during normal hours.”
“Of course. Have a pleasant night, ladies.” Sessh said, a slight grin on his face.
“Ok, see you later.” Deidre said as she turned to leave. Cathy waved and followed behind her. Sessh watched them walk away and saw Cathy lean in towards Deidre and say something. Then she laughed and she pulled back. Sessh noticed Deidre drop her head and shake it. She then playfully smacked Cathy on the back of the head.
“I wonder what that was about.” Sessh walked back to his display, but found his thoughts wandering back to the woman named Deidre. She was a stylist, no doubt about it. If the tri-color hair didn't give it away, then the two eyebrow piercings did. Sessh laughed. “Or she could just be one of those little punk rock kids.” But, she was definitely interesting. There was also an air of sadness around her. Sessh frowned and went back to work.

“Good one, Dee. Real smooth.” Cathy laughed as she and Deidre walked back into their salon. “Why didn't you stutter, too? That's sexy.”
“Oh, bite me. I'm just tired.” Deidre spat out. She thought back to the man she had just met. He was tall and well built. What got Deidre the most was his hair. It was long, past his waist and the truest platinum she had ever seen. His eyes were amazing as well, the color of molten gold. Another thing that got her were the facial tattoos he sported. Usually she didn't go for that kind of thing, but they seemed to fit on him. The two lavender stripes on either cheek and the blue crescent moon on his forehead belonged on him. They looked damn good.
“You're thinking about him! I can tell!” Cathy giggled like she was back in high school.
“And? At least I won't be bored later tonight.” Deidre raised an eyebrow and looked at Cathy.
“Oh, no! Overshare!” Cathy pretended to throw up. “I'm going to DIE!”
“Whatever! Ms. I-Own-More-Sex-Toys-Than-Jenna-Jamison.” Deidre laughed. “Oh, that's good. I'll have to remember that one. But now, I do have to finish this paperwork. I don't know about you, but I don't wanna go to jail for tax fraud.” She sat back down at the desk and continued on her paperwork.
“Do you want me to stick around?” Cathy queried.
“Nah. I'm fine. I'm almost done this, and then I'm going to feed all the fish and make sure the waterfalls are topped off. Besides, I know you want to get home and catch Desperate Housewives.” Deidre waved her friend out of the salon. “Go! I'm sick of you!” she said playfully.
“Ok, but please get security to walk you out. You know I worry.” Cathy looked at Dee.
“I will. I promise.”
“Later, then!” Cathy walked out of the salon, pulling the gate down behind her.
“Finally!” Deidre quickly finished the paperwork and rose from the desk. She walked across the waiting room towards the large fish tank on the other side of the room. “Who's my boys?” She leaned down and looked into the aquarium. “You guys are my watch-fish, aren't you?” Deidre reached into the cabinet below the tank and pulled out the food. “Chow down, guys.”
Deidre heard someone clear his or her throat from the front of the store. She spun around and saw none other than Sessh. “Hi.” She walked over to the gate.
“I was wondering if you had anyone to walk you out or anything.” Sessh stated.
“No, I just usually call the spam* to walk me out.” Deidre said with a laugh.
“Yeah, because they'd be able to do anything.” Sessh smiled brightly.
“They would, too.” Deidre commented with a completely straight face. “They'd run away.” She broke into a goofy grin on that one. “Oh, I'll have to write that one down, too.”
“On a more serious note,” Sessh started, “Would you like me to wait and walk you out to your car?”
“If you don't mind, that'd be awesome. I just have to check on the waterfalls and I'll be done. Here, come on in.” Deidre reached down and opened the gate. Sessh walked in. “Wow.”
“You like?” Deidre asked. “I did most of the designing. This has been my dream since high school.”
Sessh looked around the waiting room. It was gorgeous. It was done in shades of blue, silver and black. The chairs and couches were black leather with silver trim. Shelves around the room held every kind of hair product imaginable. The focal point was the large aquarium on the wall opposite the reception desk. He walked over and looked into it. It was a nice selection of fish. All fresh water, but brightly colored.
“Would you like to see the rest of the salon?” Sessh looked back up at the question.
“Of course.” He smiled and followed Deidre as she walked out of the waiting room.
“This is the styling area. We currently have 10 stylists, 2 assistants and 2 receptionists. We plan on expanding eventually.”
The styling area was equally impressive. The floors were industrial steel, the styling stations matched. The chairs were similar to the chairs and couches in the waiting room, black and silver. The coolest feature had to be the plexi-glass covered in-floor stream illuminated by blue lights. There were also several waterfalls on the walls in various sizes and shapes. It was a very soothing atmosphere.
Sessh let out a low whistle. “I'm impressed.” He said simply.
Deidre blushed slightly. “Thanks. I told you, this is my dream. We also have a massage room, a waxing/facial room and our nail room. But I'm sick of being here, so this tour will have to continue later.”
“No problem.” Sessh grinned. “It's not like I don't work anywhere near here.”
Deidre led Sessh back out to the waiting area, where she put the paperwork away in the file cabinet and grabbed her jacket. “Ready.”
They walked up to the front of the salon and Deidre reached down to lift the gate. A strong hand stopped her on her shoulder. She looked up into Sessh's golden eyes.
“I'll get that.” Sessh said simply and reached down and raised the gate. He guided her through it first and followed. He pulled the gate back down and watched as Deidre knelt down to lock up her salon.
She straightened and stood up. “Let's go.”
They walked through the mall to the service entrance silently. What one was thinking, the other had no idea.
