Chapter 3

A/N: No ownership for me.

They walked out the door and into the parking lot. “I’m parked over there.” Deidre said, pointing to a late model chameleon purple Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. (A/N: I wish!)
“And I’m parked a few spots down from you. I was wondering who’s Spyder that was. It’s nice.” Sessh had been wondering who’s it was. Now that he knew, it made sense. That car definitely fit Deidre’s personality.
Deidre looked a few spots over from her car. There was the most gorgeous Lexus she had ever seen in her life. “Oh! Is the Lexus yours?”
Sessh glanced down. “Yeah.” His father had bought him the pearl white Lexus as a gift for graduating college. It embarrassed Sessh to no end. He didn’t want to be thought of as one of those spoiled rich kids. He insisted on paying for the insurance and any maintenance himself. Unlike his brother, he didn’t enjoy mooching off of dad. He shrugged. “It gets me around.”
“Yeah and then some!” Deidre laughed. “That car is sex on wheels!”
Sessh glanced over to the woman at his side. Most girls would be fawning all over him the minute they saw what he was driving. But this one, she paid more attention to the car! For some reason, this amused Sessh to no end. “Really, now? Is it?”
“Yeah, duh! I bet all the ladies and half the guys would put out for a ride in that!” Deidre looked at Sessh. “Too bad, my car is better.” She stuck out her tongue.
“Oh really? That tacky thing? Please.” Sessh rolled his eyes, amusement dancing in them.
“Yeah. My baby would rock your shit! Plus, it’s prettier. And louder. And, and, and…. Oh damnit, I’m out of ‘ands‘!” With that she turned and sprinted to her car, hitting the unlock and automatic start on her key chain.
Sessh laughed and took off after her. Right as she was about to open the door of her car, he was behind her. He put his hand on the door, not allowing her to open it. She was effectively pinned between him and her car.
“Oh my god.” She thought to herself. “I could totally hump him right now! What? What am I saying? Oh god, but he is so fine.”
He watched, as she appeared to be having an inner conversation with herself. He chuckled inwardly.
With that, her head snapped up. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing.” He said. He bent down and whispered in her ear. “I’ll see you later.”
With that he turned and walked back towards his car. Deidre watched him as a chill ran up her spine. “Oh, no.”

Sessh got into his car, waited until Deidre left, and then headed home. He thought about the salon owner as he drove. He wondered what she would think if she knew his secret. No, he wouldn’t tell her. Not now. He wanted to see where this could go, if there was a chance. His instincts told him she was the one. The one destined to be his. He couldn’t wait.
He pulled into the driveway of the large house his father had gifted him with. He thought it was too big, but he was smart enough not to complain. Free housing was ok by him. He parked the car in the garage and walked into his house.
The red light on his answering machine blinked. He sighed, knowing it probably wasn’t anyone he wanted to hear from. He pushed the button and listened.
‘Hello, Sesshomaru. It’s your father. I just wanted to see how you and that shop of yours were doing. Call me back.” Sessh made a face and braced for the next message.
‘Hey fag! It’s me. How’s your gay store doing? Not that I care. Later.’ Sessh deleted that one.
‘Hi, Sessh! It’s Rin. Just calling to catch up and see how the retail business is treating you. Talk to you soon!’ He smiled at the last message. Rin had been his next-door neighbor growing up and they were extremely close. Rin looked to Sessh almost as a father figure. That was due to the fact that her own father had disappeared and her mother worked long hours to support them. Someone had to make the payments on the large house they were left in.
Turning around, Sessh headed into his kitchen to grab something to eat. He opened the freezer, grabbed a TV dinner and threw it in the microwave. As he waited for it to finish, he sat down at the island in the middle of the kitchen. He thought about Deidre. She intrigued him. She was bright, funny, ambitious, attractive and original. But something bothered him. She didn’t seem to have much confidence in herself. He wondered why. Could it be that past relationships had stripped her of that? He frowned at the thought. Didn’t they realize she was meant to be treasured? The microwave dinged and Sessh retrieved his meal to eat.

Deidre parked in the driveway of her modest 2-bedroom house. She walked in the front door and was greeted by her cat.
“Hi, Bleu! Were you a good boy today? Of course you were!” Deidre bent down and picked up her cat. Bleu snuggled into her arms and purred. “You’re the only man for me, Bleu. The only one who appreciates me. But that could just be because I feed you.”
She released the cat and flopped on the couch in the living room. She flicked on the TV and stared blankly. VH1 had yet another retro decade show on. Deidre smiled. She loved these shows. Just as they were talking about Hanson, the phone rang.
“Y’ello. Party central. Next party is in 3 weeks. How can I help you?” Deidre answered the phone.
“Haha. How are you?” Cathy was on the line.
“I’m good. What are you up to?”
“Watching VH1. Did you see Hanson?” Cathy giggled.
“Yeah, I did. I’m sure you were freaking out.” Deidre stated.
“I was. Hanson was the coolest.”
“Of course, Cathy. Of course.”
“Whatever. You were just as much a Hanson freak as I was.” Cathy said, indignantly.
Deidre laughed. “Yeah, I was.”
“Anyway, did you get everything done at work?”
“Yeah, I did. No thanks to you.”
“Why would you say that?”
“No reason. Except that you dragged me down the mall, showed me the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen and left me all kinds of distracted.” Deidre sighed.
“You’ll thank me later.”
“I know. I’m sure I will.”
“So, is there anything else you want to tell me?” Cathy snickered.
Understanding splashed on Deidre like cold water. “You…”
“What’s wrong?” Cathy was confused.
“Don’t tell me you sent him down to walk me out!” Deidre spat out.
“What!? Who? What are you talking about?”
“Sessh! He walked me out to my car tonight. And you sent him down to do it!”
“No. I was talking about the dirty fantasies you were going to have. But, wait! Sessh walked you out? How cute!” Cathy squealed. “Spill. Now.”
Deidre sighed in relief. She didn’t know why she was relieved. Maybe her feelings were hurt by the thought that Cathy had to send Sessh down to her. She shook her head. That couldn’t be it. “Nothing happened. He just walked me out to the car.” And sent chills down my spine, she thought to herself.
“Oh.” Deidre could hear the disappointment in her friend’s voice.
“Hey! I just met him! Calm down, girl!” Deidre smiled. “There may be hope for me yet.”
Cathy brightened. “Yeah. There might be. But, it’s quite possible that you’re hopeless.”
“I guess it rubbed off from you, then.”
“Funny.” Cathy deadpanned. “Well, I’m going to get off of here and find out more about the competition coming up.”
“That’s right. Tell me about it tomorrow at the shop.”
“Of course. You’re going to win it for us.”
“We’ll see. We’ll see.”
“So modest. I’ll see you later.” Cathy said.
“Later. Buh-bye.” Deidre placed the handset back in the cradle. She had totally forgotten about the competition. In 2 months, the largest hair competition in the area was going to be held. Deidre was competing for the first time. She had entered into the “Extreme Fantasy” division. That was the division where anything goes. Hair, makeup, nails, fashion, everything. It was going to rock. She had her idea all planned out. She was going to turn her friend Sandi into a fire nymph. She just had to get on the ball and get everything set up. The hair, nails and makeup were taken care of, obviously. The only thing she really had to worry about was the clothes.
