Chapter 4

A/N: Nope. Don’t have it.

3 days later…

Sessh yawned and bent down to unlock the front gate. “Coffee. Need coffee.”
Almost as if on cue, Deidre knelt down and looked at him. “Hey.”
“Hey. How are you?” He asked, stifling another yawn.
“I was just wondering if you wanted to go get some coffee. There’s a great coffee shop at the other end of the mall.”
“Coffee sounds great right now.” He locked the gate again and followed Deidre down the hall. He looked at her and noticed she looked distracted. “Hey. Is anything wrong?”
“Oh, no. I was just thinking about this competition that’s coming up and just, you know, planning it out in my head.”
“What kind of competition?” Sessh tilted his head and looked at her.
“A hair competition. I entered in the Extreme Fashion division, which is basically a total look kind of thing. Hair, makeup, nails, fashion. The whole spiel.”
“That sounds interesting. Do you know what you’re planning on doing?”
“Oh yeah. I’m transforming my friend Sandi into a fire nymph.”
“Wow. That sounds like a lot of work.” He smiled.
“It will be. But it’ll be worth it. Especially when I dominate that competition!” She grinned.
“Confident, are we?”
“No, not really. But you know what they say about a positive attitude.”
“No, what?”
“It’ll give you a headache.”
Sessh laughed. This woman was special. He’d never met anyone who could brighten up a room like she could. She almost made him forget about his need for coffee in the morning.
“Ahh, caffeine. Hooray.” The smell of fresh coffee wafted out to greet them. Sessh allowed Deidre to enter the bistro first and followed up behind her.
“Good morning. What can I get you folks?” The cheerful girl behind the counter asked.
“I’ll have a double shot café mocha with a shot of raspberry syrup, no whipped cream.” Deidre got her usual.
“And you, sir?”
“Just a large house blend will do, black, thanks.” Sessh didn’t need sugar or cream.
“Coming right up.”
As the girl made their coffees, Deidre and Sessh looked at each other. “Black, huh? Aren’t you manly?” Deidre smirked.
“Sorry, but I don’t enjoy mutilating my coffee with all those additives you seem fond of.” He threw her a mock condescending look.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever, purist.”
“Here you go, guys.” The girl placed their drinks on the counter. “That’ll be $4.75.”
Deidre reached to pull out her wallet, when Sessh stopped her. “I got it.” He said.
“No, I invited you. I’ll pay.” She protested.
“No, I insist. Chivalry is not dead with me around.” Sessh smiled and handed the girl $8.00. “Keep the rest.”
“Thank you, sir. You two have a good day.”
Sessh and Deidre walked out of the coffee shop. “Let me give you money for mine, at least.” She pleaded.
“No. I won’t accept it.”
“Come on, please.” She put on her best pouty face.
“No.”
She pouted some more and looked at him.
“Do you really want to make it up to me?” He asked.
“Yes. I don’t feel right letting you pay for me when I invited you.”
“Then let me take you out to dinner. Since I invited you, I can pay for you, fair and square.”
“How is that calling it even? You’ll just be shelling out more money on me.” She cocked her eyebrow.
“I want to take you out.” Sessh noticed her eyes widen. “Let me.”
“O-ok. If you insist.” She blushed slightly and Sessh smiled. He liked the fact that he had this effect on her. It turned him on, to be honest.
They walked back down the mall, sipping their coffees. The duo reached the salon first. Deidre swallowed her sip of mocha. “Well, this is my stop.”
“I’ll walk down later when my help gets here. We’ll discuss what’s going on with dinner then.” Sessh then did something that surprised the hell out of Deidre. He grasped her free hand and gently raised it to his lips. He placed a soft kiss on it. “Until then.” He then continued his walk back to his own store; happy his plan had worked out so well.

“Oh, my god! We totally saw that!” Cathy exclaimed. “He likes you, he likes you!” Cathy stood flanked by Amy, a petite girl with chin length blonde hair and Rob, a tall lanky guy with short brown and red hair. Those two were the top stylists in the salon next to the owners.
“Oh, leave me alone. He’s only taking me out to even something out.” Deidre reddened slightly. “It’s nothing serious.”
“Then why are you blushing?” Rob asked. He had a know-all smile on his face.
“Because its warm in here, that’s why.” Deidre walked over to the receptionist desk and glanced at her appointment book. “Why am I marked off for lunch at 1 o‘clock? I didn’t do that.”
Rebekah, the receptionist, shrugged. “There was a message on the answering machine this morning before you came in, requesting a lunch date with you.”
“Who was it?”
“They didn’t say. They did sound important, however.”
“Ok, but how am I supposed to know where to go or who I’m looking for?”
“They said to go to Café Kyoko’s downtown and tell them who you are. They will tell you what to do.”
“Uh, ok. Well, I guess I’ll be going then. I haven’t had Kyoko’s in a long time.” Deidre walked back into the styling area, wondering who she could be having lunch with.
