She bit down upon her tongue, to stem the tears, tasting the slightly metallic flavor of her blood. "I cant bear it," she whimpered, her head hung low. She continued walking until she came near the Botanical Gardens in the city, when suddenly, an impediment stood in front of her way.
A rather tall young man with his blue-black hair in a high ponytail leered at her. "Hey sweetheart, its a nice night , eh?" She lowered her eyes and began walking forward, goose bumps pricking upon her skin as she suddenly became aware that she was all alone.
"Where are you going," another man asked with a pink mohawk as he leered at her. She then noticed seven or eight other young men looking at her appraisingly. The street seemed very quiet now as she looked around.
"Leave me alone please," she said defiantly, feeling a sliver of fear, slowly slide through her body as they began closing in on her. The man with the ponytail shook his head and smiled, catlike.
"No. I'm afraid we cant do that," he said as one of them grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth, dragging her into the gardens. She struggled violently, but quickly tired due to her exhaustion as they neared the deep thicket of trees.
She went limp as the burly person carrying her began fondling her and she tried in vain to free herself. He threw her to the ground, and as the leering group surrounded her, her throat worked convulsively; she was unable to speak because of her terror.
"Come on sweetheart," ponytail man said lecherously as he pressed near, "I promise, you'll enjoy what I'm about to, DOOO." He was suddenly yanked backwards and the others followed in quick succession. Their screams abounded as some force in white attacked.
Blood flew everywhere, as her would be attackers moaned in agony, clutching their bleeding limbs and mangled bodies as they ran. Kagome's mouth trembled as she backed up against the tree.
The sounds of the screaming men faded down the street, and she stood shaking profusely as the shadowed figure in white came near her. He looked as majestic as he did the last time she saw him, five hundred years ago in the Sengoku Jidai; his long white robes glowing in the silvery moonlight, the long, white pelt trailing behind him.
As he came near to her, he reached out and touched her shoulder as she stared at him open mouthed. "Are you all right," he said almost gently as he looked into her eyes. She took one look at him, covered her eyes and promptly burst into tears.

Sesshomaru stared after her intently, wanting to comfort her but such actions were so foreign to him that they remained beyond his scope. She reacted so violently that he was afraid for her mental state. "Kagome, are you well," he said a bit forcefully.
She looked at him in shocked surprise; he had never said her name before, previously she was simply known as “That girl” or “InuYasha's wench.”. "No," she whispered.
His brow darkened and he reached out and grasped her arm, pulling her with him. Her mouth twitched in a silent scream as he transformed into a white sphere and in the next instant, they landed forcefully upon a quiet expanse of green lawn that spread before a magnificent white castle.
She opened her mouth and screamed piercingly. He stared at her incredulous for a moment, and then grasped both of her shoulder and shook her once.
"I'm not going to hurt you," he said quietly his eyes boring into hers, to which he later thought probably wasn't the best way to calm her consider the fright she suffered this evening and the uneasy tremble she suffered around him even in the best of their meetings.
Her body shook as she closed her mouth and she went limp in a slight faint. His eyes softened slightly as he caught her and scooped her up into his arms. He strode toward the white castle, climbing up the marble steps and striding through the arches to enter.
He strode toward the large white bedroom and placed her upon the bed. He looked at her tearstained face, her eyes marred by dark shadows under her lids, and thin blue marks showed upon her translucent lids. He frowned with irritation at the evidence of her suffering, then sighed. `All of this cant have been good for her,' he thought.
He stood and walked by the large window looking at the expanse of lawn, the woods that followed, and beyond with his perfect vision, the dark blue waters of the coast.
He could see his brother's face as clearly as he ever could, and shook himself in The lids covering the golden eyes lowered to the ground and he turned away from the window.
All there was to do now, was wait.

The dark lashes fluttered once, and paused as Kagome came to the slow realization that she had no idea where she was. `Where am I,' she thought dully, and she sat up slowly.
She looked wondrously around the large room and then started as she saw him by the window. She knew then what had awakened her, the sudden deep awareness that she was not alone.
With a sickening feeling still roiling in her belly, her heart thumping in her chest, she unconsciously shivered; he was just as omnipotent as he was those many years ago.
He breathed in deeply, his panther-like senses attuned to her, her slight trembling, her dilated pupils, the vibrations of her skin.
She was extremely aware of him, and at that moment, she reminded him of a frightened rabbit and as much as he enjoyed that in the past, he now wanted to comfort her.
"Kagome," he said softly, "do not be afraid. I will not harm you."
`He said it again... my name,'' she thought bewilderedly. `He had never said my name before, he barely acknowledged my existance.'
She bit her lip slightly and nodded slowly, her eyes staring at him wildly. 'Calm down, he said he wouldn't hurt you,' she said to herself.
Willing her heart to slow its pounding, she said in a soft tone, "What are you doing here?" She glanced around the luxurious room. 'Where are we," she said, her eyes searching his face.
His eyes rested upon her. 'This is my ancestral home," he said simply, the scent of her gardenia fragrance filling his nostrils. "You've lived here, existed for all of this time?" He smiled slightly.
"Yes." Her lip trembled as she seemed to draw heavily within . "Where is he," she said in a softer tone, her voice quavering.
His face grew serious then, and he stood and walked over toward the bed, and sat upon it. "I'll tell you sometime," he said significantly, his own voice lower now, "You will rest tonight."
Her eyes grew huge in her face and tears slipped down her cheeks as she remembered what happened that evening. "Those...Those men...They...". The tears slipped down her cheeks to land upon the silk sheets as she wept silently.
He sat awkwardly, again wanting to comfort her, but he wasn't sure how. After several moments, she wiped her eyes and murmured, "Forgive me. I haven't even thanked you for saving me. I don't know what I would have done if..." she trailed off, her face stricken and she trembled slightly.
His eyes glinted; she could see the golden lights even in the moonlit room as he replied, "They will not trouble anyone again." His eyes slid over her form, she looked so tiny in the large bed, the covers up to her chin, and she watched him warily.
`I can't get over how nice he is being to me,' she thought wildly. `That Sesshomaru would save me...'
Her shoulders continued to rack and he reached out, gently pushed her shoulder. Unable to help herself, she flinched deeply. He could see that she was still very afraid of him. "Lie down," he instructed her. "We will talk in the morning," he said as he stood.
She obeyed him, wide eyed and settled beneath the covers. "Where will you sleep," she said in a low tone. "I'm not tired. Do not worry, I will be near."
She trembled and said in a whisper. "I don't want to be by myself." She couldn't explain it, but she trusted him, something in his eyes... He realized that while she said nothing, that she remained in a state of semi-shock.
Anger filled him at what she suffered and he heard himself say, "I'll stay until you fall asleep," as he sat down once more. She pressed her face against the soft mattress and nodded.
Sleep evaded Kagome for a few moments as she thought over the horrors of the day and his nearness. She closed her eyes painfully to block out the image of the men surrounding her, leering at her.
`But he came,' she thought. `The last person in the world I would ever have thought would,' she thought, remembering that long ago battle in the shell of the great Inu demon how he had inflicted his deadly poison upon her. Her eyes fluttered drowsily.
`I cant think anymore,' she thought before she succumbed to slumber. He watched her as her dark eyes slowly closed and she slipped into slumber, his mind overtaken by many emotions.
She looked so small in the massive bed, her young face looking exhausted and translucent. An enormous protective instinct arose within him.
He couldn't subdue the sliver of pleasure he felt from having her here in his domain. He had watched over her these past months, wanting to be near her, but something he simply could not voice held him back.
He watched her as she made her trek toward college, leaving the comfort of her familial home to live in fast paced downtown Tokyo; she was growing up. He could see that she hadn't yet recovered from her ordeal, as the scent from her tears attested to, but he only observed her quietly, fleetingly.
His mind flew back to the moment she was attacked, and he only recalled his eyes going red.
After a final glance, he stood and left her sleeping quietly. He strode down the hall, out the past the immaculate living room and out the open doors
Sesshomaru strode to the deep green forrest immediately outside his home, crossing the expansive green lawns until he neared the depths of the forrest, thinking of that night
His brow darkened as he recalled seeing her lying there, her body limp, as if she lost all of her spirit, accepting what was about to occur, and it angered him.
'I shall remedy that," he thought as his eyes turned crimson and he transformed into his true demon form and turned into the night.
